Chapter Text
You were born and raised in Japan. Your mother happened to have many connections through her work in America, where she met Holly Kujo—though at the time, she was still Holly Joestar. Because of their friendship, you and Jotaro became very close from a young age. You possess a very special ability that you once believed was an evil spirit. However, after speaking with Jotaro's grandfather, Joseph Joestar, you discovered that it was actually something called a Stand. You decided to name your Stand Zero Hour, even though the name has nothing to do with its ability. When you were younger, you had to see a child therapist because every time you saw your Stand, you would burst into tears out of fear. Your mother was deeply worried since she couldn't see what you were seeing. Zero Hour stands around seven feet tall. Its body is a matte black color, and its face is completely covered by golden roses. Orbiting around its body are eight arrows, each pointing in one of the eight cardinal and intercardinal directions: north, south, east, west, northeast, northwest, southeast, and southwest.
When Joseph visited Japan for the first time, he taught you how to control your Stand in case you ever needed it. Over the years, you trained relentlessly, and now you are very familiar with its abilities. Zero Hour's power allows you to assign a direction of destiny to your attacks. For example, if you throw a punch and your opponent dodges, the punch will alter its path to force itself to connect with its target. If you drop a sword, it will slide across the ground—and even along walls if necessary—until it reaches the target. If you fire your north arrow and it strikes someone, that person will be launched north with tremendous force. However, your Stand has limitations. You can only make an attack every 30 seconds, and its ability is fueled by your own stamina. If you're low on energy, your attacks may not have enough power to force themselves to hit their target. You were a couple of years older than Jotaro—seven, to be exact—so that made Holly trust you enough to be his protector (not that he needs one), but you treat him like a younger brother.
You work at a coffee shop just beside Jotaro's school. Holly has asked you to walk Jotaro to school ever since the fight that got him thrown into jail. Right now, you have arrived at Jotaro's school. While Jotaro was walking to school, he was swarmed by girls like always, but he doesn't care about them at all. He gives them no thought. Then you walk him to the big stairs right in front of the torii gate and say, "Have a good day, JoJo," obviously teasing him. He replies with, "Fuck off, Y/N. I don't want people seeing you with me." He puts his head down, hiding his face with his hat. You sigh. Classic Jotaro. He used to be a golden child, a good influence. You don't know what happened to him. His words don't affect you since you know it's just a façade, but you have no idea why he's pretending to act this way. It's almost funny. walks toward the stairs, and you head to your job. You open the door to the coffee shop, a little bell ringing as you step inside. A cold breeze hits your face, and you're greeted by your colleague. "Good morning, Y/N," she says with a smile while wiping a glass. She was always happy. Seiko Haruka was her name. You reply, sounding tired, "Morning, Seiko." She notices your tiredness almost immediately."Someone didn't sleep last night." You let out a little laugh, knowing you got a full night's sleep."I just had to deal with a moody 17-year-old who acts nonchalant." You are obviously talking about Jotaro. "Yikes, that sounds rough," she replies. "I've known the kid for years now. I don't know what's gotten into him. Anyways, let's open the coffee shop." "On it!"
Jotaro, on the other hand, is in the nurse's office because of a nasty fall he had while going down the stairs leading to his school. He has a slash right above his knee. A student gave him a handkerchief before he walked into school, and he didn't think much of it. While the nurse is taking another student's temperature, the handkerchief falls out of his jacket pocket. He opens it, and there is writing that says:
"Jotaro Kujo, today you die at the hand of my Stand! — Noriaki Kakyoin.
"And you, on the other hand? You're making coffee for salarymen who have a long day ahead. Today, you finished your shift a little early, so you decided to go visit your mom. Your dad was on a business trip to New York. You changed out of your work clothes and made your way over. You knocked a couple of times. No answer. After knocking a few more times and calling out, you decided to open the door, and good thing you did. You saw your mother on the ground. Joseph had warned you about Dio and what he could do. You knelt down and checked your mom's back, and there it was—flowering vines stretching all the way down. You quickly rushed to the rotary phone on the wall and dialed Joseph Joestar's number. There was an answer, but it wasn't Joseph—it was his wife, Susie Q. "Hello?" she said. "Ah, Susie Q! Hello, it's Y/N. Is Joseph there? It's pretty urgent." "Ah, no, dear. He's on a trip to Japan. You should call Holly's house phone. He's probably there." "Thank you very much, Mrs. Joestar." "No worries, dear. Anytime." You hung up and dialed the Kujo household. Holly picked up this time, and you recognized her voice immediately. "Hello, Holly. It's Y/N. Is Joseph there? It's urgent." She could hear the urgency in your voice."Give me one second, dear." She called Joseph over, and he answered the phone. "Hello?" "Joseph, it's me, Y/N. My mother has the Stand sickness you were telling me about. What do I do?" Joseph went silent on the other end of the line, almost like he wasn't expecting this to happen. But he knew exactly what to do. "Please bring your mother to the Kujo household, and we'll see what to do from there." Joseph sounded calm, and that relaxed you because it meant he knew exactly what to do. "On it. I'll be there soon."
You hung up the phone, picked your mom up, and placed her in her car. You knew how to drive, thank God. You started the car and headed toward the Kujo household. Aftter you knocked on the door, you were greeted by Joseph Joestar and a man you had never met before. "Ah, Y/N, you made it. This is my friend Avdol—Mohammed Avdol. He will be of great help." "It's nice to meet you, Avdol.” You shook his hand politely. Joseph continued, "Holly has set up a futon, as they call it in Japan, for her." Holly chimed in, "She should stay here for a couple of days, dear. It's best for her to get some rest." You laid your mom down on the futon, and suddenly she opened her eyes. "Mom!" you exclaimed. "Sweetheart... where are we?" your mom asked. Holly answered gently, "Jen, you've fallen sick. We all think you should stay here for a while." After talking for a bit, your mom agreed. Holly took her to a different room. Just then, Jotaro stormed in, carrying a boy who looked about his age over his shoulder before plopping him onto the floor. You couldn't help but ask, "Jotaro, who is this? Did you get into another fight?" Of course he got into another fight. Why even bother asking? Classic Jotaro replied, "Ahh, shut up. You're so annoying." You had to hold back a laugh. Ever since he started acting like this, you couldn't help but imagine his younger self saying something like that to you. "Whatever, JoJo," you said, teasing him again. Suddenly, Avdol walked in. "Y/N, I found a book here that will tell us where to go—" Avdol paused. "Who is that? Are they dead...?" Everyone's attention immediately shifted from Avdol to the student lying on the floor. "This arrogant bastard tried to kill me, so I sorted him out," Jotaro said from the corner. Then Joseph suddenly chimed in. "He's not dead, but he'll most likely only have a couple of days left to live." You stayed quiet, watching all of this unfold. Avdol approached Kakyoin.
“Wait a minute…,” Avdol says before approaching the student and examining his forehead. Then Avdol pushes his hair back. There it was—a moving flesh bud. Avdol remembers the time DIO was going to plant one on his head, but he ran away just in time. “This is a flesh bud planted by DIO. This boy... he was being controlled by DIO to try and kill Jojo.” Jotaro decides to speak up. “His name is Kakyoin, Noriaki Kakyoin.” So this is DIO's doing. You had learned a lot about DIO since Joseph had told you stories about him, especially how DIO killed his grandpa, Jonathan Joestar.
“How would DIO plant a flesh bud in his head? How would he reach a boy like him?” you question. “I don’t know, but we need to get this bud out of his head immediately.” Not long after Avdol said that, Jotaro already had his Stand out. “Jotaro, what are you doing? You can’t just pull it out like that. You realise that, right? You could kill the boy!! How will we tell his parents—” Jotaro cuts Joseph off. “Quit your whining, old man. I know what I’m doing.” Jotaro uses his hands to position Kakyoin's head straight, and suddenly Kakyoin’s eyes shoot open. “Where am I?” Kakyoin asks. “Stop talking and moving if you want to live,” Jotaro says. Kakyoin shuts up and lets Jotaro work. You kneel down beside Kakyoin to watch what was going on. You were a curious one. Jotaro uses Star Platinum to pull out the flesh bud. Jotaro realises almost immediately that the flesh bud was going up to his own brain through his arm.“Jojo! The flesh bud is going up to your brain—” Jotaro cuts Joseph off, yet again. “SHUT UP!” Finally, Jotaro pulls the flesh bud out of both Kakyoin and himself, destroying it forever. By this point, you were sweating from anxiousness, and you let out a sigh of relief you didn’t even know you were holding. “Good grief... what are you all looking at?” Jotaro says, looking back at everyone. Even if he insults you and whatnot, you can’t help but worry for him. He’s like your younger brother, and since you both don’t have siblings, you’ve established that relationship.
Holly comes in with the first aid and is already tending to Kakyoin’s wound right on his forehead. Holly lets him rest on a futon. Kakyoin wakes up around an hour later, right after everyone has had some tea. You notice first and shift over to him. You are studying in medical school right now and are in your last year, so you know how you could treat him. You go over to him and talk gently to him so you don’t scare him. The others look over. “Hello, Kakyoin. You’re finally awake.” You had planned to ask him questions about DIO. “Is it okay if I ask you one question?” He could sense that this question had an important answer, so he replies, “Yes, of course.” You start your question off with a sincere tone. “What do you remember from the day you met DIO?” Kakyoin goes silent for a couple of seconds. He was trying to remember. Then he starts. “I was on a family trip to Egypt not too long ago, and I remember walking alone along the beach. It was late, so there were no people around. Then I felt a presence behind me. I turned around and saw DIO.” By now, everyone’s attention has shifted to Kakyoin. “He said to me, ‘Noriaki Kakyoin, you are going to kill Jotaro Kujo, and in return, I will give you anything you want.’ Before I could reply, he put his hand on my forehead, and I felt like a zombie.”
A shiver runs down your spine, and then Avdol shares his own experience. After he does, he looks at you, and you look back. “Y/N,” he starts with your name, “I found a book here to find the insect that Jotaro has drawn using his Stand to see the region that DIO is in, and according to the encyclopaedia, it is found in Egypt. So that means in order to find and kill DIO, we must go to Egypt to save your mother.” There’s silence for a bit, but then you speak up. “Egypt, huh? Then we must get a move on with packing our things, right?” Joseph agrees. “Yes, Y/N. Your mom shall stay here while we travel.” Holly interjects. “That’s the best option right now, and it’s better than her being alone.” You look down, considering it for a bit. “Okay, that sounds alright.” “Thank you, Holly. For everything. Me and my mom are forever grateful,” you say, sounding relieved. “Oh, sweetheart, it’s nothing really.” Then suddenly, a voice chimes in from behind. “I’m coming.”
Everyone turns around to look at whoever was speaking. “I can’t let you go in this condition, Kakyoin,” you say, obviously caring. “I won’t let DIO get away with what he did to me. I’m coming whether you like it or not.” Everyone looks at each other, and Avdol says, “We do need an extra pair of hands.” You look away and say, “Alright then, Kakyoin. You’re in.” Joseph suddenly stands up in front of the group, obviously about to make a statement. “Alright, everyone. We leave tomorrow. Go home and gather your things. We don’t have time to dillydally.” You say your goodbyes to everyone and leave the Kujo household.
You start walking to your small apartment in the heart of Tokyo, and while walking, think about what to pack. You take your keys out and fiddle with the lock until you finally get it open. You plop onto your bed, tired out of your mind. “Fuck's sake,” you say to yourself. Then you hear your phone ring. You walk over to answer it. “Hello?” “Hello, Y/N. It’s Joseph. Our flight leaves at 9 p.m., so be at the Kujo household around 5 or 6 if that’s okay with you.” “That’s perfect. I’ll be there.” “Okay. Thank you very much.” You hang up the phone lazily and grab a bag. You stuff things into it like your toothbrush, spare clothes, and other necessities. You go out onto your balcony, lighting a cigarette. You lean against the railing and look out across the city as you take a puff of your cigarette. You don’t know if you’ll see this city again after this trip, so it’s best to take it all in now. You finish your cigarette and go to sleep. You were tired that day, obviously. The next day, you wake up feeling refreshed. You stretch and get out of bed. That day, you make sure you have your passport and tell your boss that you’ll be gone for a while. Time passes very quickly, and before you know it, it’s 5:30 p.m., so you grab your things and make your way to the Kujo household. When you get there, you are greeted by Avdol and Joseph. They seem happy to see you “Ah, Y/N, you made it just in time,” Avdol says while shaking your hand. He was a very polite man. “I tried my best,” you say politely. After some time, Kakyoin and Jotaro emerge from inside.“Alright, is everyone here?” Joseph asks while looking around. Everyone was here. It was time. They all get into a taxi, leaving the Kujo household and heading off to the airport.
None of them knew how bizarre this adventure was truly going to be, but right now, it was important that they got to the airport.
