Summary:

Chastillon was filled with the ghosts of Laurent's innocence. It didn't matter. He didn't think of it. He was silent as he rode, and his mind was hard at work on other matters. The plans he had so meticulously been making, he now set about tearing apart and rearranging. Now he was contemplating winning.

His path to the border strewn with pitfalls and traps of his uncle's making and haunted with memories of the past, Laurent is forced into relying on the unlikely assistance of his brother's killer. This is an attempt to examine Prince's Gambit from Laurent's POV.
