Chapter Text

Long ago in a beautiful kingdom lived a fair and prideful King. He ruled with his kind yet resilient queen, which both loved their people, most of all he loved his daughter. He loved her so much he asked the Gods of the lands to bless her with the beauty of the sun shining down on the land and the voice of the calm lulling moon. they celebrated through dusk to dawn for days on end for the birth of the princess.

The people loved their princess and cherished her at every moment. They taught her many lessons from tending fields on a farm to baking bread for all to enjoy; Musicians teaching her the way of bards and Maids whisking her to appreciate a tidy hearth. Above all the old King taught her his fairness.

"Everyone has a place in this kingdom. It is your responsibility when you become Queen to lead with a kind heart, strength of a lion, and fairness of the morning dew." The king would always say to the young Princess. He did his best to lead by example of course. However, no one was perfect and sometimes the old king felt more like a court jester. This only made the princess laugh, making the queen give the old king a stern look before she laughed along with the two.

While the king was a lovable fool— the queen upheld the upmost elegance. Just a wave of her hand her orders were final. Her integrity kept this kingdom thriving no matter what may befall them.

The young princess grew up keeping her fathers words close to her. While her mother kept her in line, to be fierce and justly ruler. She was to be queen one day so she must make everyone proud. It was what everyone expected of her, what her dear mother wanted of her.

One day the queen became gravely ill . Such a terrifying sickness that no doctor, enchantress, or alchemists had a cure. The little princess couldn't understand there had to be something— anything— that could make her poor mother well. But it was already too late, the night of the fall equinox the queen had passed. Leaving the old king alone, with his young princess and no guidance.

The townspeople of the kingdom fell into despair. How could they move on? Without their Queen to guide their King, how would the kingdom thrive? It was as if a great rain covered the land now that she was gone. No sunlight to piece through, only the Grey clouds covering their sky.

That year was the worst winters they have ever experienced; Before the winter began, floods from the rain in the harvest season washed away all of the crops. Subjects were hungry, they were tired. Without hope for their King, no guidance from their beloved Queen they were a herd of sheep without its shepherd.

The little princess tried everything to lead her people back to how it was before. She cried, begging the gods to save their souls and send something or someone to help.

Anything at all to bring back prosperity!

One day as the little princess cried at her late mother's throne, a beautiful enchantress appeared in the throne room to everyone's shock. She was as beautiful as a morning glory, her hair and wings were as golden as the rising sun, her eyes soft as the clouds in the sky. Everyone was enamored with such beauty.

Approaching the young princess, the Enchantress knelt down caressing her cheek wiping away her tears.

"Do not weep little one, for the Gods have received your prayers." Said the Enchantress her voice soft to not scare the little princess

She lifted the little princess into her arms carrying her as if she was just a kitten. She then sit down on the late Queens' throne, her eyes gazing to the people of this land.

"I will be your new Queen and will take the Kings' hand in marriage. A union to strengthen this kingdom to its former glory. All I ask is you to not despair for the dead— but to bring peace with them, is to live on and tell their stories."

Spring came swiftly as if the kingdom was reborn over night. The Enchantress kept her word bringing life, guiding everyone as if the former queen never left. Soon a new princess was born a gift from the sun itself. A gift of prosperity; everyone rejoiced for their time of darkness was finally over.

Neighboring kingdoms grew jealous of them. Why should they have the power of the sun all to themselves? jealousy became rage, so much rage that arm forged and swore to take away the sun. If they couldn't have it, no one will.

Moonlight fell upon the land; creeping closer the heads of the army approached the nursery where the sun was laid to rest. As they drew closer, the Enchantress swooped in knocking the soldiers on their feet and revealed her true form. A powerful Sun God ready to smite who all dared to take her child away. In fear the soldiers cried for their comrades to storm the kingdom. The old King fought to protect his subjects till the very end. Fire blazed the throne room, the King was fighting within as a terrible beast had approach— setting the fire into the throne room. The blaze was so hot the King and soldiers turned to stone.

the Enchantress took pity on the foolish late King, in an effort to preserve the kingdom and the sun she sealed them away in a magical forest where all who enter never return. Rumors say the beast of the castle still resides guarding the statues, until one day a maiden with a heart full of love comes to break the curse freeing the lost kingdom and its subjects.

"What happened to the little princess mother?" said the little girl, leaning closer to hear her mothers words.

"No one knows my Rose bud, she might be one of the many statues that decorate the castle."

"That's terrible mother! Surly the enchantress protected her to or hid her away?"

"My dear Amelia, sometimes fate has a funny reason why things happen"

The mother coughed viciously enough for blood to spill out. She wiped the stain on her handkerchief catching her breath giving her daughter a weak smile.

"I hope what you get out of that story that its better to love, than to spend your days in despair and anger." croaked the mother

"Be good for me my little rose bud— the gods will surely take care of you just like I will always be your guiding light."

The mother rested her eyes slumber felt so good for her tired body. She knew everything was going to be ok. It will be ok for her child here in her final moment.
