Chapter Text
“He could be there! come on, we both know he can't hide forever.”
Gerard had never been much of a partygoer, but this was different. He didn’t care about the food, or the people, he didn’t even care about where it was. This could be an opportunity to catch Frankie, Gerard would never pass that up.
Despite his constant loss in their game of cat-and-mouse, Gerard still hasn’t given up on catching that darned vampire. His undying, annoying persistence drove his brother Mikey up a wall.
“Why would Frank, a vampire, be at a human party? Come on, Gee. Let’s just stay in for the night.” Mikey didn’t look at Gerard as he spoke, a jaded expression sat on his face as he eyed himself in the mirror, lazily fixing his hair.
Sure, he’d like to feed into his brother’s quixotic delusions, but it’d be difficult for anyone not to become sick of them.
This was a masquerade party, finding Frank would be just as plausible as waking up to winning the lottery. Not only would he be wearing a mask, but so would everyone else! They’d have to filter through everyone to find Frank.
“To EAT PEOPLE, Mikey!! I mean, think about it. A human party is basically a damn buffet for that leech.”
Gerard sounded just about as dumb as child obsessing over the monster under its bed. There was just no convincing him that catching Frankie was nearly impossible!
Frank was quick, which didn't take away from his wit. That dumb vampire always found a way to escape the Way brothers and Mikey had simply learned to accept it. Gerard on the other hand, lay awake at night dreaming of wooden stakes and garlic necklaces.
“If we go, can I at least have fun? We won't be looking for him the whole time, right?”
Mikey spoke in a tone that blurred between worry and frustration. Truth was, Mikey was frustrated. He didn’t want to spend every waking moment trying to find Frank like Gerard did. If Mikey was going to be dragged to this party, he’d at least try to enjoy himself.
“Obviously, Mikey! Stop worrying. We’ll get Frank THEN party!”

The pair eagerly paced through dirt and dead leaves, their bulky boots leaving imprints in the ground. Gerard marched ahead of his brother, leaving him behind as his mind remained fixed on one goal: find Frank.
“Hey Gee? Could you slow down man? ‘Party isn't going anywhere..”
Mikey groaned as he tried to catch up with the impatient Gerard. Of course, Gerard paid him no mind. He continued at a stressful pace, determined get into that party.
—————————
“Is this it?”
Mikey blankly stared at the building before them. A luxurious mansion, bustling with laughing attendees disguised behind masks.
Everyone looked so decorated, refined, Gerard suddenly felt out of place. He’d began second-guessing his choice of attire: dirty, unwashed hair, a worn-down uniform, and muddy boots. To add insult to injury, his plus-one dressed exactly the same.
They silently thanked the gods that it was Halloween. They’d most likely fly under the radar, Most people would just come to the conclusion that they were dressed as homeless men.
Gerard’s concern vanished when he redirected his attention to the mansion’s entrance. One by one, guests filed through the open door.
“Come on, Mikey!!”
Gerard snatched Mikey’s idle hand and dragged him toward the manor. Mikey’s glasses nearly flew off at the speed he was being yanked.
After some time of wandering through the luminescent, adorned garden at the front, they’d made it to the entrance. Hesitantly, the two crept in through the door.
This wasn’t an ordinary party, there were no bowls of fruit punch with upbeat music. Instead, rows of ornate tables displayed foods neither of them could even name. The place was filled to the brim with classy folks chatting about their accomplishments to one another over a glass of wine.
Something about this place screamed wealth, Mikey and Gerard wanted to finish the job and head off as quickly as possible.
Mikey paused, speaking over the laughter surrounding them. “Okay. I’m gonna find the bathroom. Try and find Frank so we can leave.”
Before Gee could protest, Mikey had already disappeared into the crowd.
Whatever. If he found Frankie now, maybe they could leave early.
Gerard pushed his way through the crowd, awkwardly bumping into masked partygoers with drinks and plates of food. Anyone could be Frankie. Everyone became a suspect to Gee.
It wasn’t until Gerard rammed directly into someone that his attention snapped to focus,
He eyed the man in front of him: a tad shorter than himself, half brown and blonde hair, pale skin, and oddly charming.
