Please stop trying to trap me a second time

Summary:

Rek felt like he was going to drown in a sea of gilt. He had accidentally dragged not only himself, but his best friend into an immortal demonic death game. He didn’t even know why he took the deal. He had never even been interested in immortality, at least not once Branzy went into great detail about how horrible it was.

Notes:

This takes place in the same universe as my previous fic “well, love is certainly interesting” but you absolutely don’t need to read that one to understand this fic. I do recommend reading that fic though, it’s all about Clownzy :D. That said this fic has about as much Clownzy as that fic has Parrap.

Chapter 1: Learn to lie

Chapter Text

Rek felt like he was going to drown in a sea of gilt. He had accidentally dragged not only himself, but his best friend into an immortal demonic death game. He didn’t even know why he took the deal. He had never even been interested in immortality, at least not once Branzy went into great detail about how horrible it was.

Yet he fell hook line and sinker for that stupid demonic deal, and hadn’t even read the fine print!

Rek felt like a fish out of water by every since of the phrase.

When Branzy and Rek met their new team the first thing they told them was; you need two things to survive here, one; to be able to fight. Two; to be able to lie.

Branzys reaction to this was “welp we’re not surviving, I can’t fight, and you can’t lie.”

Saying Rek couldn’t lie was an understatement. A big understatement.

Branzy might not be able to fight, but the man was a genius. Branzy could whip up contraptions Rek could only ever dream of! He also knew his way around a contract really well. Branzy would’ve never fallen for the trap.

All Rek could do is fight, and run. He was good at those two things but still.

His complete and total lack of skill in the form of lying was not helping Rek at this party/Trap. It was a kinda welcome party for him and Branzy, with a giant tnt trap that Branzy designed ready to be released.

Rek was struggling hard not to look up. Luckily Branzy was right behind him ready to fish him out of whatever horrible situation he’d gotten himself in.

“Just smile and be friendly, you know how to do that.” Rek thought to himself

He spotted this towering black figure over in the corner of the room, he was wearing a porcelain clown mask of some kind. Rek decided to go talk to him.

The interaction was kinda weird but everyone in this place seemed weird. However Branzy pulled him aside and whisper-hissed;

“Do you know who that was?!?”

“He said his name was Clownpierce…?” Rek nervously choked out. Branzy looked more scared than when they got dragged into the game.

Branzy sighed. “T-That… was a very powerful demon. Whatever you do. Do. Not. Make. Him. Mad.”

“Why is a powerful demon trapped in this death game?”

“Oh I promise you he’s not trapped. He’s probably here for entertainment.”

“So what about the people he’s sitting with? Are they demons?”

Branzy looked over at the place where Clownpierce sat down with, presumably, his team.

“I-I don’t know, I just recognized Clownpierce. We need to go sit down.” One of Rek’s teammates, Vitalasy was starting to give a speech.

Rek was concerned about what Branzy said and was glancing over at the demon. He had seen something watching him over the weeks he’d been there, could it be him?

When glancing over one of his teammates caught his eye, mainly because he was staring directly at him.

The guy had bright green shaggy-ish hair with yellow roots and blue tips, and green eyes. He also had a scar over his lip. He was dressed in practical clothing, lots of pockets, with little pouches strapped across his chest and a dull red scarf.

The man waved to Rek with a very weird smile across his face. He didn’t look quite hostile, but was definitely teetering along that line. Like Rek was a mouse stuck in his trap. He had redstoner gloves on.

Rek waved back at him, assumably more awkward looking.

Rek was generally bad at deciphering expressions, but the one the green hair man made, Rek had no clue what it meant.

He got distracted by Vitalasy finally showing his speech down, he had been drowning on, and on at that point.

Rek noticed that Clowns team was starting to eat. It seemed rude since the speech hadn’t ended quite yet. They seemed to be eating…. Aggressively? Like they weren’t going to have time.

Rek realized that Vitalasy was triggering the trap, a little to late.

TNT was raining from the sky, Rek was caught completely off guard. To be fair, he was supposed to be outside before the trap was triggered. Where he was certainly trying to get to at this point, since Branzy had disappeared.

However he was stopped. By a sword flying at his face. Luckily Rek reacted in time with his own sword.

“Hi, Rek right?” The man who he had previously seen staring at him said.

“Um- hi..?” Rek replied. He was very confused because the man was clearly trying to kill him.

“What never had small talk before?”

“Not with someone trying to plunge their sword into my face no.”

“Welp you should probably get used to it.”

“Ok… what’s your name then?”

Rek saw the guy smile, he noticed two green wing tattoos on his face, just below the eyes.

“They call me Parrot.” Rek could see why. Not only did he look a bit like a parrot, but he also fought like a bird, as in, he liked jumping, and was fast.

Rek was getting a little overwhelmed.

“Nice of y’all to give a demonstration of your fighting techniques. Hear I thought I was going to have to wait till you were alone in a dark corner. The TNT is a nice touch.” Parrot continued, shoving Rek into an explosion. Luckily he dodged it.

At this point Rek figured this was some kind of game or a test.

“So where did you learn to fight? You’re good.” Rek asked.

Parrot scoffed.

“Where did you?” He responded.

“Street fights and I took fencing for fifteen years.”

Parrot laughed again. “Word of advice, you should keep your secrets to yourself.”

“What so someone can blackmail me? Also I can’t lie.”

“Clearly.”

The clash continued, Rek was holding his own pretty well but it was difficult with the tnt. Branzy designed it specifically to be difficult to dodge, and had succeeded.

“Have you ever killed someone before?” Parrot asked with a grin as Rek started to try and push him into a piece of tnt.

“No?” Rek was surprised by the question. He had just gotten into the death game. Why would he have killed someone outside the it?

Parrot laughed yet again, Rek was getting a little fed up with the constant smug laughter.

“Say… you don’t seem to enjoy your team very much. How about you get a new one?” Parrot asked flipping over Rek to attack him from behind.

Rek whipped around before he could.

“What makes you think I don’t like my team??”

“You look like you were going to melt during Vitalasy’s “little” speech.”

Was it that obvious? Rek was bored out of his mind, but he wasn’t a traitor. Especially not to Branzy.

“I’m not a traitor. Besides, I go were Branzy goes.”

Rek saw a grin grow on Parrot’s face, he had been smiling the entire interaction, but that grin was different.

“You really need to learn how to keep your mouth shut.” That was the last thing Parrot said before leaving the interaction, and the first thing Branzy said when Rek told him about it.

Branzy was literally hitting his head into the wall of his base in frustration.

“I’m sorry! Though I still don’t understand what the big deal is..?”

“Come on Rekrap. I’m going to teach you about chess.”

If Rek wasn’t confused before, which he was, he was definitely confused now. What does a century old game have to do with anything about this?
