Work Text:
She was beginning to realize how far down in her memory she'd buried her childhood years.
What little she had after you abandoned her. After decades of living as a puppet, she lost who she was.
After decades of being on the flipside, she began to lose herself.
She couldn’t help so many souls that turned into those robots that roam the halls of the Flipside…And you fought them to get to her . Why?
Who was she again? All she had was the name of a dead girl.
" Dee Kennedy. Your name is Dee Kennedy ."
"You left me to him."
“Henry, I…I don’t want to do this.”
“It’s the Joy of Creation , William.”
“...this ain’t right!”
“It’s what you wanted. It’s only right that you should do it.”
“...”
“She will continue to live. I will make sure of it.”
“You can’t. I won’t rest until the others are ready.”
“...”
“Dee-”
“You’ve saved some of their souls, but not all of them. You haven’t saved the ones here. I…I can’t rest.”
“...I know what Henry and Dave have done to you-”
“No, you don’t. Just…keep going, bro. I’ll be ok.”
“...ok.”
““...I love you, sis.”
“I love you too. I will watch over you as you travel. Make good choices. But I know you will.”
“I don’t understand why you’ve come back. You died and you come back to not even do anything. You don’t help anyone.”
“...”
“I have nothing for you here. Dee’s gone. Just leave.”
"Stop smiling at me like that. You know what you did. What you and him did. So many souls…”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
"What are you doing here? Have you come to hurt more of us? Have you come to hurt me?”
“Why would I do that? :) “
”I will warn them. I once- Dee had trusted you. You’ve already killed her and now you plan on taking more souls under my care. Get out. Now, before I make you. I have nothing more for you.”
Won't you humor an old man for a little while?
That's better. Isn't it so much easier when you're not trying to fight it? Come. Settle in . I haven't had the pleasure of visitors in a long while. Leave the girl to her demons.
You have nothing else.
"I would offer you some tea, but there is nothing here. For you, I am only coming across as words on a page.
You do realize I was talking to you and not Jack, yes? I've gotten you here to tell you how he's MY vessel. He has given his body up to me. We don't need a parasite. I am the protagonist. Not him. He was little more than a side character. If anything, you should be more interested in me than him.
Perhaps that story will come one day. For now, settle in. You've travelled too deep in. You'll be staying here for a while.
Ninety years without slumbering
(tick, tick, tick, tick),
His life seconds numbering,
(tick, tick, tick, tick),
It stopp'd short—never to go again—
When the old man died.
