Merpike Jack is collecting seashells to make a necklace when a mertuna (Jack forgot his name) swims past screaming and a couple of seconds later a furious merbull shark Izzy comes swimming after him. Soon, an angry merlionfish Stede swims by with a trident in hand. It looks sharp.
Jack can't help but scratch his head and wonder what this is all about. Izzy doesn't usually go after other mermaids. And Stede is, as far as Jack knows, not a violent lionfish, but the calm itself.
Should he do something? Nah, Jack shakes his head and tries to get back to what he came for, namely picking these fancy seashells. Jack doesn't even let a bloody scream stop him from his task because there are moments when you'd rather not ask too much or get involved. It's something he's had to learn the hard way and scars.
