Jimmy's Bar, Detroit, Michigan
Post-Peace Android Revolution
The clinking of glass, chatter, and clacking of billiards balls resonated throughout out the bar. The bar was more lively than usual. More that five android deviant cases were solved in a week and majority of the precinct decided to come together at Jimmy's a for the brief well-deserved celebration in this snowy December evening.
Your outfit consisted of a long black, ribbed turtle neck dress long sleeve that ended at the middle of your thighs and hugged your curves in the right places, dark blue jeans that fitted nicely around your hips, and dark brown ankle boots. You hair was neatly made and the scent of lightly applied lavender surrounded you. Makeup was modest with just eyeliner and mascara. You carried a small courier purse that held the essentials of being at Jimmy's - phone, wallet, keys, and cash for tips.
The bar consisted of the usual co-workers from the bullpen - Lieutenant Hank, the android Connor, Detective Reed, and officers alike. You were a seasoned detective with several solved cases under your belt for others to bat an eye. You weren't as prolific as Lieutenant Hank or Detective Reed, but got the job done.
Chris and Ben patted you on the shoulder as they walked in, asking why you aren't playing the free pool with the others. "I'm only here for the atmosphere and company." You softly smiled at them. Both of them shrugged and invited you anyways.
Jimmy's expanded since the android revolution. The sign at the door was ripped to welcome new patrons to the establishment. The bar was a mix of androids and human with some tension. No section of the bar was segregated - everyone was treated equally so as long they paid before they left.
You sat at the end of the bar under a light, back against the window in full purview of everyone else. You took a swig of the freshly pour whiskey on ice. Bitters smoke over your lips, tingling the nerves. You were exhausted but how can you miss a hilarious game of billiards of the Lieutenant and his android companion, Connor? The two had five balls left with Connor winning. The Lieutenant and Connor had placed money on the table just so there is a something to gain from the game. After each had their turn, Connor ended up as the victor.
"Ah shit," The Lieutenant projected as a sign of defeat.
You turn your gaze towards the next section of billiards included a couple of officers and the most arrogant detective of all - Detective Reed. Reed successfully ended the game at a behind-the-back shot just to impress his opponents with his tongue in cheek. The two officers admitted defeat and went over to a table stall to take a break.
Hank noticed Reed eyeing you from afar and approached him and took him to the side. "Don't do anything fucking stupid, or you are going to need a new nose."
"Don't you worry about that." Reed smiled followed by a chuckle.
You raised an eyebrow in curiosity in what their conversation was.
Ten minutes have passed and the Lieutenant and his android completed their game and prepared to leave the establishment. Hank approached you and asked if are going to be fine for the rest of night. You nodded.
"Just call if you need anything," Hank reassured you. He and Connor left for the rest of the night.
Your gaze returned to Reed.
You found his cockiness attractive as both your personalities were always clashing, possibly to be a better detective or the good old high school bully that wanted your attention. The overhead light shone his big smile as the ball made it to the hole. The light created a chiaroscuro, the contrasting of light and dark, showcasing his facial muscles.
God, he was the definition of who you desire and don't.
And you were touched-starved. Very much.
You returned back to your drink that was already empty.
"Damn, I drank this too quick," you hissed under your breath. You gave Jimmy the notion of another round on the rocks. Might as well enjoy the moment while being near everyone. Jimmy returned to you with the drink exchanging your empty glass. The ice clinked against the glass a couple of times.
"Here you go. Enjoy it."
"Thanks, Jimmy. You always know how to make a girl feel welcomed." Jimmy nodded with a smile and returned to preparing more drinks. You took a slow, small take of the drink. This time it stung your tongue.
"Huh. Never had to experience this before," you whispered.
"Well, well. Look who we have here." A familiar voice which irked you to look from your drink and turned around, and it Reed himself.
"Why isn't a pretty little thing like you having fun like the rest of us?" Reed sat himself on to the bar stool right next to you. His grey eyes rested on you.
"I'm having fun right where I am, thank you," bluntly exclaiming your position of comfort.
Reed scoffed. "You're just afraid of losing against someone like me, huh?" He playfully nudged you on the shoulder. The nudge sent a small electrical shock your body yearned for so long. The very sentence kicked something in your gut, and you've always trusted your gut. He always had a bitter taste in your mouth. You give him a look of challenge, drinking the last of your whiskey and clean off the remainder of the liquid smoke off your lips with your tongue.
Reed couldn't take his eyes off your mouth once the glass left your face. His eyes followed the glass as you placed it back on the coaster. Reed's lips slightly parted as you finished the rest of your drink. He deeply wished he was that glass cup to get a taste of your mouth.
"Okay, that's it." As you approached the table, the two officers who were present stepped back. You reset with the table with all items in orders. You grabbed a stick from the stand and chalked its tip. The very sight of your determination made Reed feel hot, and he was loving every second of it. Reed followed behind.
Reed laughed in excitement slowly clapping his hand. Now this is what I'm talking about!" You rolled your eyes in response. Reed picked up the same stick he used previous from the stand and applied chalk.
"Solids." You pulled out a $10 bill and slapped on the table.
"No, no. No money. Loser gets to buy the next drink," Reed proclaimed. You pulled back your money. The drink is getting to your head.
"How about we stop wasting time and start already?" You tilted your head to the side.
"Oh, you got it, honey." The arrogance from Reed was unbearable in many you can imagine.
The clash of billiard balls lasted for 30 minutes. You were rusty at but determined to get him off your back and save yourself the praise he gives to himself at work. Each time you missed, he lets out a soft chuckle under his breath.
The only one ball left was the infamous eight.
"Tick-tock. I'm getting thirsty here."
You applied chalk to the end of your stick. You positioned yourself to the ball, bent over and low onto the table, focused on your target. Suddenly, you felt another body position nestled from behind. Both hips were in close contact as your jeans shuffled in the fiction.
Your left hand became covered with one larger than yours with another on your right hip. The scent of beer swept lightly over your right cheek. You turn to see Reed tower over behind you you. You heart skipped a beat from his physical enclosure.
"Look directly where you want to hit and you will get it," he purred into your ear. You huffed once. For the moment, you felt soft and vulnerable yet safe. You took your shot.
Clack.
You missed your shot. Reed chuckled softly.
"Well, it was nice while it lasted, hm?" His warm ghosted over the shell of your ear. He walked over the opposite and finished the game with a behind-the-back shot.
You sighed in defeat and reset the table. He handed you his stick. You grabbed the stick swiftly and returned both back the stand. Turning around you see Reed already leaning against the bar table with his elbow and legs crossed. He motioned you to come over. The gesture flushed over your cheeks while you gritted your teeth. You approached the bar and seated yourself.
"Whatever he wants, Jimmy." Jimmy nodded and looked over at Reed. "The usual," he requested causally.
The bar became quieter as people slowly went home for the night with only a few customers a the table stalls.
"Water, please." Reed looked over at you.
Aww, you sobering up from your defeat?" You don't avoid making eye contact with him after that comment.
"No, I wanted to hydrate from your dry jokes." Jimmy chuckled with his back against both of you as he prepared your drinks.
"Haha, very funny." Jimmy returned with both your drinks. Reed sat next to you and took a long and slow sip of his bottle. You drank your glass of water halfway and let out a sigh out of refreshment.
Reed turned to you. "So, are you seeing anybody?" A question you never expected from him to ask.
You turned to him for your answer. Reed's grey eyes shined under the bar light, as if the light heightened his face from his jawline, chiseled nose, and worn out eyes.
"Uhm, not really." You gulped silently as your answer. "If I wanted to play 21 questions I'd ask an android."
"Fuck you, smart ass."
"You wish." You winked.
Silence fell with only the soft riffs of electric guitars filling the space between you two. Reed's eyes looked at shock from your attitude, and he loves it. Reed suddenly chugged the last of his drink and slammed the bottle onto the table. His hands both grabbed the back of his neck and let an exhale as if he was about to do say something. Reed then grew closer to you.
Reed grazes your neck as he enters his drunk stupor. The start of his five o' clock shadow made your skin crawl with goosebumps, sending a shooting chill down your spine then through your whole body. His arm reached over your shoulder, slowly caresses your upper arm.
He whispers right next to your ear, "How about you take care of me tonight? Wouldn't want to get either of us a DUI and get hand cuffed to me." The heat dissipating from him crawls up to your ear as if a spell is chaining your soul.
"I wouldn't want to miss the opportunity like that," you teased.
"Careful now," he warned. You chuckled at his warning.
"Am I going to regret this?"
"With me, there are no regrets." He said with a large grin.
"You can call me Gavin...we're not coworkers tonight." His alcohol-tinted breath caresses your ear like a sweet song.
You paused for a second to give it a quick thought. Given your past relationships, you prevent the last person you were with become a factor in living in the now.
Gavin asks again, "So, what do you say?"
You tilt your head slightly back. Your lips slightly part at the sudden opportunity before you. You could almost hear your heart racing, chest tightening at this very moment.
It's been years since you slept with another human.
And your body is hungry for sex.
Inhaling a breath of confidence, taking in the anticipation of your answer. Quietly you exhale then turning to Reed with hazy, lidded eyes. Both your eyes met, so close in proximity that both your lips were almost touching. Ten seconds of stillness and both of you exchange smirks then turned into grins.
Mustering up the confidence to finally enjoy your weekend, you reach for his hand over your shoulder, slowly guiding it off you and then loosely intertwining them together. You present his gaze with a calm demeanor, but your eyes appear primal as if it has captured its prey. He appreciates the contrasting look you give in exchange.
Before leaving the bar together, you left Jimmy the money for Gavin's drink and a bit more as tip. Reed removed his leather coat and placed it upon you as it started to heavily snow outside. Jimmy smiled as the two of you waved for a cab back to your apartment.
As you two got into the cab, Reed cuddled to you taking in the heat. He rubbed his face on whatever surface was exposed on your neck and under your chin.
"Since when were you ever like this," you question. "Never. Not with anyone since becoming a detective." Gavin was just as touched starved as you. "It's always been a repeating cycle of work and lonely nights at my place..." You couldn't tell if he was using it as a facade or telling the truth.
"Whether you believe me or not, after work, it's different."
Different?
Huh?
At the end of his sentence, he sounded like he was to close to breaking down, pleading for your trust. Gavin looked again at you in your eyes. His eyes were bleary, glossed with elation.
A warm sensation settled in your gut. His hands were met on top of your thighs with yours over his. Gavin gave your thighs a teasing squeeze in how full they were. One hand is placed just under the hem of your dress, begging for more. Gavin sat back up bringing your face to his chest and looked down. His grey eyes illuminated with yours in the soft neon lights of the cab.
Gavin proceeded to give little pecks on your forehead, cheeks, and on your neck. Once he got to your neck, you couldn't tell if he was kissing with his teeth when feeling light nicks.
"Mmm. Don't want to leave evidence at the crime scene," you teased.
"Don't worry. As long they don't see it, right," he purred.
Your bodies exchanged heat in the seat as the cab drove. Luckily it was only you two in the vehicle. Gavin wouldn't mind putting on a show when it was necessary. Would he though?
Once the vehicle stopped at the destination, Gavin exited first and stepped off to the side and waiting for you to disembark. After stepping out, he threw his arm around your shoulder and kept you close as you entered the apartment. The apartment's facade was charming. The it was mildly gentrified from the inside and out.
"How do you think tonight will go," you asked as you opened the entrance of the apartment building.
"Who knows. I do love surprises," he said with a wink.
Gavin and you reached the elevator. The build was warm but still cool enough to keep his jacket on you.
Ding.
The elevator doors slid open and you both entered. You hit the button to the fifth floor.
As the elevators doors shut, Gavin closed in on you hip on hip. The height difference made his hardness known as closed in. He towered over you and placed both his hands on your hips. Gavin started giving small pecks on your neck and then a teasing nibble on your ear.
"You are just so…”
"Mm? So what?"
"…you. Just you," he said softly close to voice breaking. Gavin pulled always from giving you pecks and took a second to look at you. You appeared so tiny compared to him. He found it adorable as you wore his leather jacket as it engulfed you.
You thought to yourself Gavin can't have all the fun. In playful defiance, you hands reach ad held his face and returned small pecks. He chuckled at the notion and did not mind it. As you were keeping him occupied, you slid your hands on top of his grey, long sleeve shirt and felt his torso. His shirt sat tightly on top, making it easier to define what he had going underneath.
"You're getting restless" He cooed next to your ear. "Patience is a virtue, and I expect that so much from you."
Your eyes brows raised at his statement. Did he just tell you to be a good girl? A small, sharp peck from his teeth grazed your neck instantly made you gasp. Gavin chuckled at your reaction.
"Ah, there she is."
"H-How dare you," you say in surprise. The pecks then turned into a single teasing lick of your lips, leaving you in shock.
"Oh, yes but I do dare," he cooed once more.
Your breath raced at his indulgence, like an animal hungry for food.
Ding.
The elevator doors swung open to its destination.
Gavin intertwined both your hands with his and let you lead the way back to your place. The hallway was lit with soft LED of cool and warm lights. Gavin followed closely behind with one hand in yours.
"Mmm. Noted," Gavin said as a mental note of your room number was made. Perhaps he may visit you soon in the future again. You chuckled. You reached for your keys in your purse.
