Once upon a time, there were three Goddesses.
Din Goddess of Power.
Nayru Goddess of Wisdom.
And Farore Goddess of Courage.
Din created the material realm, Nayru gave the realm law and order, and Farore created all life forms that would follow the said order.
With their labors completed, the Goddesses departed for the heavens. But not before leaving behind the Triforce.Three sacred golden triangles representing a small portion of the essence of the goddesses.
But that was not the only thing the three left behind.
From the three, the goddess Hylia was born. She was left behind to guard the Triforce. As well as the material, law, order, and life the goddesses made.
Before leaving, they also placed one of those life forms in charge of guarding Time and Souls.
There was once a powerful sorceress.
One who's name was lost to memory.
She was the guardian of time and souls.
They were alone but content.
For centuries she wached over the creations of the three Goddesses and Hylia. Ensuring the safety of the many souls throughout time.
But no one, not even the one chosen by the three was immune to loneliness. As the many centuries passed, the sorceress began to yearn for a companion. And that's when she noticed on soul in particular.
A hero that appeared throughout time whenever needed.
As she wached, the sorceress began to do something once thought impossible. The woman older than the hylian race itself, fell in love.
Or possibly . . . Obsession.
Thus the god of evil, Demise, wormed his way into the sorceress heart, and split the powerful guardian in two.

The battle was chaos.
All of Cia's anguish and sorrow manifested into a monster. One that wanted nothing more than to erase her existence and take her place.
Her other half- No her sister Lana, held her as she lay.
"Please d-don't dissappear! What do I have to do!?"
She was on the verge of tears. Cia felt guilt for being in such a state to cause her sister pain. Even now, she was trying to save her after everything.
"That dark thing drained my power. If you defeat her . . ."
"U-understood!"
After making sure Cia was in a comfortable position, she ran off without a seconds hesitation. She ran off with no backup, plan, or anything. The weakened wich urged the people who called Lana friend to go help.
But it was in vain.
She would learn that not even the hero of Hyrule could do anything but watch. As Cia understood it, her sister fought with such ferocity and relentless fury that no one dared get closer. Every strike landed with the force of a thousand swords, and her magic shook the ground.
Lana made one thing clear that day. When something threatened her sister, nothing could stop her. And if you were the threat in question, nothing would save you.

After that, Cia joined the allied assault on Phantom Gannon. The last remnant of her many sins. She helped defeat the beast, if only for her own atonement.

After the many battles fought, lost, and won the two guardians decided to seal themselves away. The power the two held had caused too much pain and sorrow for them to do anything else.
Locked away in their palace, the two resumed the duty given to them once more. But Cia's guilt always remained. Which led to the conversation had that day.
"Lana please lis-"
"No!"
"Just thin-"
"I won't do it, I refuse!"
They were by the garden. The blue haired girl was on the verge of tears. Just the idea of what Cia was asking for felt like a stab to the chest.
"Please!" The taller woman fell her knees. "I can't keep going like this! Every day I see the lives I've ruined, and it's hell! I see the families of the soldiers I've killed! The children left behind! The lovers who've hearts I've broken!" She was sobbing. "It's hell."
"So what! You just want to leave me behind as I- as I . . . I'd be killing you!"
"Not kill." Cia corrected though her tears. "Just absorb. Erase me so that I can at least face judgment in nothingness."
"Why do you want to leave me behind?"
Lana looked devastated. The look of betrayal made it impossible for Cia to look her in the eyes.
"You're a sorceress. I'm just a witch who ruins lives. I don't deserve to live."
"So I deserve to be alone!?"
The 'sorceress' knelt down and hugged her sister, resting the 'witches' head on her chest.
"If you feel guilt, then work to atone. If you feel sorrow then talk to me. If it's to much to bear then rely on others. Just . . . please don't leave me alone. If you were to dissappear, I don't think I could live with myself."
They both cried for a good long while after that.
Of course it would be many many years later till they found the irony of that moment. Because without knowing, Lana made it impossible for eather of them to die.
The hero Link had the Triforce of Courage. At the time Tetra, being Zelda in disguise, had the Triforce of Wisdom. And while not there physically, Ganon wilder pf the Triforce of Power was there in spirit.
In that sense, all three pieces were present. Allowing Lana to make a wish.
Any other time, such a thing wouldn't be possible. But for the one that the goddesses selected themselves? The Triforce responded, allowing the wish Lana made with all her heart to come true. Even if it was one she made subconsciously.
She wished to be with her sister, alive, forever. For her and anyone else who might one day call this manor of time and souls their home.
There were many stories of wish granting beings misinterpreting the desires of mortals. But the Triforce was above such things, as it was also unable to discern good from evil. And this it granted Lana's wish based solely on her pure intent.
As long as the this garden was someones home, they'd be eternal. Unaging, undieing, forever and always.

Many Years Later . . .
"Are you ready?" Lana asked.
"Yes. I have to do this.
The two were in the sorcery room. The same one where Cia was saved by her sister all those years ago.
The two began to work together, combining their power to manipulate the gate of souls. They knew what they were doing was dangerous, irresponsible, and set a terrible precedent. But out of all the lives Cia ruined, she had to at least try to bring one back. She owed him that much.
Using their magic, Cia made her way though the gate. She was immediately bombarded by a screaming well of voices. Summoning gates were always ment to be one way, to try the reverse was madness. But the self proclaimed witch never claimed to be fully sane.
Wading though dark liquid, she searched for what she was looking for. Since this had never been done so Cia didn't know exactly what it was she needed to find. But she had hope that she would find it.
As she moved, she saw it.
Long, red, impaled on a stone, was a spear.
As Cia aprooched the ground went from black liquid to solid ground. The screams subsided and the void went quiet when she got close enough.
"Do you really think you're worthy?"
Startled, the magic user turned to see a dark shade of the person she sought.
"Of course not. But if I don't try what good is my power?"
"He died without regrets. Are really going do defile the death of a proud warrior."
"I will not let his final moments be in the service of my darkness!"
"Then so be it."
At that, several of the same shades appeared. They all readied themselves, and attacked.
Lana was worried.
Cia hadn't physically entered the gate, but spiritually.
As soon as she noticed something off she instantly tried to pull her sister back, but Cia refused. Lana knew that if she forced it, she might not be forgiven.
So instead she dod the next best thing. Sending portions of her power over to Cia. She didn't know what was going on, but she'd support her.
The fight wasn't going well.
None of the dark shades even came close to the real deal, not even close. But they just kept coming.
When one was stuck down, more would replace.
However without realizing, Cia had been inching further from the spear in the rock. And when she got far enough away, the entire relm shook.
"Who Dares!"
The rocks exploded in a blazing inferno, with heat so intense it reveled the heat of creation. When the flames cleared, there was a lone warrior, center from which those flames were.
Tall, clad in blazing red armor, and welding a spear that rend flesh, stood Volga.
The last true Dragon Knight.
