50 million years ago or less in earth years before E1 S1
Surfing around the blanket of black space surrounding his path, Cosmos is on a mission to deliver the specimen to SkyFire who is rumored to still be on earth, possibly engrossed with his own project to even remember reporting in his current location.
Using the Space bridge would've been easier and faster but that requires a lot of risk for Preceptor’s unauthorized project, he made a promise to him regardless of their reasonable concerns, the specimen stays out of any part of the Autobot's Jurisdiction let alone the Decepticons, this is a silent collaborative operation that only he and sky knows.
Preceptor was really pushing it calling him a “Cargo droid” but it's a relief that he finally showed a bit of humor despite that the bot went back to being gloomy in his lab again. Cosmos can’t blame him, long term loneliness can literally change anyone especially when the war is getting tense lately, allies slowly losing contact with each other and disappearing, probably falling into worser fates.
Best not to dwell into imagining the possibilities
hovering above the dense parts of the ring from a nearby planet, the green saucer transforms out of his alt mode, standing on top of an asteroid firmly just to look around for any signs of life here… none to be found. “ not really that impressive, but still looks nice for a quick sightseeing” finding a moment to process the view.

Readjusting his systems, winding up like a spring “Just need 1514564026 kms to go” Visually aiming at the foul looking planet with dirt and water. Leaping off the rock he was standing on, Cosmos now speeds off fast as a bullet with very precise maneuverings, to the destination that is just right up ahead, can't wait to see what's gotten Skyfire so busy lately.

Shortly a few Deca-cycles later Cosmos is right above earth’s atmosphere looking down on all the Organisms that crawls above the surface, they either don't see or mind him from this distance. Regardless they behave like any other primitive organics, he honestly never will understand it but at least Skyfire and Preceptor share a common interest. It's not unusual for them but why does it have to be a Fungus out of all the lifeforms?
Leaving the question in mind, he dives straight in with the right focus, cosmos cuts through the layers and readies himself to activate the heat shields Easy peasy.
A flash of light was spotted heading towards his left from a distance, and then it just flashes by

Without realizing that he was hit yet, reflexes take action minimizing the turbulence disturbances, and yet cosmos is having a hard time adjusting to the gravity pulling him in fast.
“MAYDAY MAYDAY! SKYFIRE IF YOUR THERE IM HIT, THE CARGO MIGHT HAVE TAKEN DAMAGE!! I HAVE NOT SEEN THE ATTACKER YET BUT PLS GET TO MY SIGNALS SOONER”

So many thoughts running through his mind, he does not notice the crawling veins wrapping inside and out of his frame. All he can focus on is seeing his last moments of the Bright world around him cutting off to a familiar darkness.
