Chapter Text
Law found himself laid on the couch. Watching the stars through the window. He loved the view, but something about the peace was creeping on him. Something he wasn’t used too after the constant noise pollution that came from the boy.
“Traafffyyyyyy!!” Speak of the devil.
It wasn’t long as the boy was at the other end of the room. His loud voice and flip flops that stomped over towards him. Law already groaned himself into a wish of peace. But he wasn’t upset.
“Surprised to see you here!” Luffy laughs. “Got any food? Or did I walk past the kitchen?”
Law turned himself over to stare at the back of the couch. He felt a pair of gropey rubber hands around his chest. He gasped himself up with another long groan. “Your memory slow? This is my house."
“What are you up to?” Luffy asks, sitting on the floor beside the couch. Law props himself up to look down at Luffy. He tussles his own hair before observing the man below him.
“I was resting,” he answers to Luffy.
“Resting? Have you eaten yet? We should get something to eat.”
“What are you doing here?” Law asks. He ignored Luffy’s question in hopes it’d get him to leave faster.
“I came to visit, I got bored. Nobody wants to hang out so I decided to come to yours.”
Law scratches the back of his head. “How did you get in-“
Luffy laughs. “Your door wasn’t locked.”
Law’s jaw drops at the sudden realisation that he was correct. After rushing home from his shift – all he wanted to do was just come straight home. He’d forgotten about the door since he was so tired from his no sleep shift.
“You can’t just walk in as you please! I assume this isn’t the first time doing it!” Law sighs out with his head in his hands.
Luffy pouts. “Nope, but it’s the first time you happen to be home when I do this.”
Law face palms himself. “God, you’re telling me there were times I didn’t lock the doors.”
Luffy laughs again. “It’s alright, it’s just me! If it was somebody else, I would’ve been there to stop them.”
Law grabs Luffy’s chin. “You need to stop that.”
Luffy keeps speaking through his restricted mouth movements. “I will stop them, don’t worry!” He laughs harder at the idea which Law settles down. He slumps his shoulders back and leans onto the couch.
Law rubs his nose bridge. “That is not the point.”
Luffy stands up and pulls at Law’s arms. “Let’s go get something to eat!! Sanji said he’d make us something.”
“I’m not going,” Law stands up. He turns Luffy around and begins to walk him to the door.
Through desperation, Luffy grabs ahold of anything on the way out. “Traffy! Come on, we can work something out – just come out and grab a bite! I just want to spend time with you!”
Law sighs again. “I’m tired, I’m not going. And your only here because your bored.” His eyes darkened at the idea of Luffy playing around because he was bored. Not that he wanted to genuinely spend time with him – not that it was really bothering him. Or so Law tried to convince himself.
“I am bored, but I want to spend time with you.” Luffy stops just before the door. He turns over his shoulder with a pouty look. Law avoids the look knowing that just staring at Luffy would irritate him – not because he’s annoyed at Luffy, but because he’d give in to Luffy. One of the things he hated was giving in to the man he convinces himself he’s not into.
“OH! I know!” Luffy turns around as Law had realeased his hands. Luffy grabs onto Law’s arms. “How about we just order take outs?” Luffy suggests. “And we watch a movie at your place?” His eyes sparkle at the idea.
Law sighs out in defeat. He really can’t say no to that but he wanted to. “I have work in the morning.”
Luffy pouts with his arms crossed. “Then I can stay and sleep over? It’d be fun! You haven’t eaten, I haven’t eaten since five.”
Law glances at the clock sitting above the picture frame in the kitchen. “That was an hour ago.”
“Point is, we haven’t eaten together.”
Law closes his eyes. “I guess-“
Luffy laughs again. “YES!” Luffy wraps himself around Law. His arms finding their way around Law’s neck and legs wrapped around his thighs. “I CAN’T WAIT TO SPEND THE NIGHT WITH YOU! This is going to be so fun!!” Luffy celebrates.
Law scoops Luffy into his arms. There was no point in asking Luffy to get off, or even ignore him – Luffy would always sling himself on, whether he liked it or not. He hated when Luffy would cling on and he was stuck dragging him despite the complaints – he’d figured out the best thing to do was to not complain and deal with it.
“What should we get to eat then?” Law stares at Luffy with a friendly smile that was met with a bigger smile. Unusually, everything he hated: Luffy would do it. He excused it because it was Luffy. He found it weird that the annoying boy was really someone he found oddly comforting to be with.
Law found Luffy a bit irritating. But he was holding Luffy in his arms, accepting the younger man with no hesitation. Law couldn’t understand why he did that – unless he was doing it to not be rude? When did Law ever care about being polite.
Luffy cheered on the couch, chanting about movies and takeouts. Law had already passed the phone to Luffy like it was normal – letting Luffy choose the place and letting him order what he wanted.
Law never gave Luffy restrictions on anything. He was more than happy to spoil Luffy.
“Traffy,” Luffy calls out in a sweet tone. “I wasn’t sure what to order, so I just got a few things.”
“For us to share?”
“Uh,” Luffy hesitates. His brothers always taught him that if someone is paying, do not, under any circumstances, order expensive foods. “I gues- yeah?” Luffy answers with a question tone. He’d ordered a few foods that were cheapest, and combined totaled to the price of the expensive food.
Law didn’t mind it. He had money to spend always. “Alright, anything else you wanted? Dessert?” Law insists.
Luffy restrains himself from taking the phone again. He leans on Law’s shoulder, peeking over on the phone. Law feels Luffy’s breath, warm and comforting on him. He wanted to hold Luffy again.
“I should be….fine,” the face Luffy expressed made Law not believe his words. He scrolls onto the dessert options – watching Luffy’s mouth almost drooling at the pictures on his phone.
A small laugh leaves his lips. He begins to add the desserts into the order, tapping away at whatever he thought Luffy might like. Luffy’s face moves close to Law – only inches away from their face touching.
“Traffy, what’s a cu..rem…crème? Bar lee?”
Law snorts, “crème brulee?”
“Y-yeah, what is that?”
“It’s a custard with hardened sugar on top.” Law begins to explain.
“OH! Sanji always makes that for us after dinner!” Luffy explains with bright eyes. “It’s really good!”
Law nods his head, “I know.” He locks eyes with Luffy. “I thought you’d like it so I ordered it.”
“I love it!” Luffy moans. He cheers into the sky with fists held up.
Law smiles softly.
Luffy places his head back onto Law’s shoulder. Law doesn’t move, hoping that Luffy wouldn’t either. And he doesn’t – instead they stare at each other for a few long seconds. Luffy’s face moves closer to his, closing a distance that didn’t make a difference. Law could feel Luffy’s breath again, but on his face. Warm and delicate – like a soft pastry that could crumble. Law licks his lips, glancing at Luffy’s lips then over to his eyes – unsure what he should keep an eye on.
Their nose bumps each other.
Law feels his heart racing, ready to close his eyes for the impact of their lips. Law didn’t think Luffy would be bold enough to make the first move.
“Traffy,” Luffy whispers. He whips his head down to the phone. “Are you going to order it now? The food?” Luffy slings his arms over Law to point at the phone.
Law stutters, “ah, right. I’m doing that.”
“Yeah, I can see you’re hungry too! Come on,” Luffy insists with a big smile. “Let’s eat! Let’s eat!”
Law frowned almost instantly. Luffy was too distracted by the phone to notice the face Law had made.
