Why her?

Koto gets jealous of AGI

Work Text:

"So what are you, exactly?"

Kotobuki bit her lip, trying not to interrupt as Kiki poked and prodded at her new favorite toy. Android or not, this chick couldn't be that interesting! It had been hours now and she'd just been standing here the entire time, patiently waiting for Kiki to remember she existed.

"I'm an autonomous A.I. and all-purpose assistant made by my creator, Date Daisuke!"

Kiki grinned like this was the most insightful and interesting thing she'd ever heard. Kotobuki had had enough. She draped herself over her girlfriend's shoulder, pouting up at her.

"Maybe you should leave AGI alone, you've been on her case for like two hours now."

"Oh, I don't mind!" AGI piped up unhelpfully, "And it's only been an hour and a half."

Kotobuki tried not to scowl at her, knowing the girl probably meant well.

"See, it's fine!" Kiki cluelessly assured her and continued on with her prodding.

Kotobuki's stomach twisted. This always happened. Kiki would get fixated on someone and all of a sudden it was like her own girlfirend was a ghost. But Kiki always came back to her, she tried to remind herself. This was only temporary, but it still hurt. Being ignored and having to put up with watching them coo over each other was like torture from the lowest level of hell.

"Um, Koto?" AGI asked as if she had any right to call her a cute nickname, "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, why do you ask!" she summoned up a fake smile, not wanting to make a fuss.

"My systems indicate you're in emotional distress, I don't think that qualifies as 'fine' exactly."

God damn it, why did the stupid robot have to notice. Now Kiki was looking over at her in concern and she just felt stupid.

"Koto, what's wrong?"

"Nothing," she tried to insist, knowing nobody would understand even if she tried to explain.

"I noticed an altered emotional state beginning around when Kiki and I started interacting," AGI supplied, "I hate to make assumptions, but are you jealous?"

Kiki frowned and Kotobuki grit her teeth. Great. Just great. Kiki hugged her and despite everything she had to admit it felt good. Finally at least someone was paying attention to her.

"Koto... You know I love you, right?"

Kotobuki couldn't help it, at those words she started crying.

"I'm sorry," AGI offered, "I didn't mean to make you so upset."

"S'not your fault," she sniffled, suddenly feeling bad for getting so mad at the poor android, "I didn't want to interrupt you guys."

"Well in that case.. Maybe we can all three do something together?"

She looked up into AGIs synthetic eyes. Did she really mean that? It wasn't like she wasn't curious about AGI too, it just hurt to feel like Kiki was favoring her. But maybe, if it was the three of them like that, it wouldn't be so bad.

"Okay."
