"... Shun, is it really alright?"
Shun tilted his head up, throwing a questioning look at Kai as they walked out of Procellarum's common room and came to the hallway. "What is, Kai?"
It was quiet, as expected, since it's past midnight and the younger members of their unit must've returned to their respective rooms to get the rest that they need to face morning that'll come within several hours now. It's safe to assume that the two of them are the only ones still awake and roam on their floor, but still, just to be cautious, Kai tried to speak as quiet as possible.
"You know what I'm talking about. The bonding. Isn't it better if you bond right away, if the two of you really are Fated Mate? Considering that this industry is kind of dangerous for people of your nature."
Being a world that is dominated by those with talents and charisma, the showbiz industry has many Alphas in it. It's not exactly a safe environment for Omegas, especially the ones who haven't perform a bond yet, like Shun and Six Gravity's Aoi. Of course, nothing serious will happen as long as both sides have the awareness to take precautions on their own. But Kai still thinks that it would be better if his leader can bond and remove the possibility of having his pheromone invites Alphas to attack him.
"Kai... didn't you hear what I was saying earlier? We've just started our career as an idol. I can't possibly let anything that may disrupt that at this stage, right?"
"And how does it comes to that? As long as you two don't do it with the mindset of wanting to conceive babies, I don't think it'll affect our work."
"Kai, you really have no delicacy... and, I thought you would've understand by now, if you think about my personality."
"Understand what?"
"That I'm the type who wouldn't stop clinging to my partner once I get into a romantic relationship."
Kai's eyes widened at the statement. It sunk easily into his mind, making him mutter, "Now that you say that, I can imagine it instantly..."
"Right? Though, since I've never gotten into a romantic relationship, I wouldn't know whether it's true or not~"
Strings of soft chuckles escaped Shun's lips right after that continuation, and Kai couldn't help but sigh. Even though he added something like that, the image of Shun clinging to Hajime was firmly etched in Kai's mind.
"Well, aside from that, although I'm the demon lord who loves this world and its inhabitants, I don't have a hobby of forcing them to love me, or worse, forcing myself to love them. That's why, for now, I shall wait and see, whether Hajime will come to fall for me and seek me for real, or whether it'll be me who fall for him for real and chases after him passionately."
"You're saying that sort of thing again..." Kai let out a small laugh, before stopping rather abruptly. "... Wait. Wait a second?"
"What is it, Kai?"
"You're saying that you don't actually love him? Despite how fiery you were when you started talking with him earlier?"
Again, Shun laughed lightly. "Silly Kai. Loving Hajime as a fan doesn't necessarily means that I love him as a man would love his spouse. That spot is still free, and it can either be filled by Hajime, or by someone else, or may even remain empty forever. Who knows? I shall enjoy my time until I find that person who can conquer that special spot."
"... I see."
Their steps finally came into a halt as they reached the end of the hallways, where Shun's room is located at, with Kai's situated right beside his. Shun turned to look at Kai, intending to bid him good night if their conversation is already over. But surprisingly Kai had a serious look on him, which stopped Shun from speaking and instead made him wait for the next words the older going to say.
"... Yosh, I've decided."
"... On what?"
"On protecting you, of course."
Shun didn't seem to expect that, staring at Kai with wide eyes while the brunet continued.
"I knew from the basic info that the president gave me, that you're pretty capable of protecting yourself so you probably going to say that it's unnecessary and I shouldn't concern myself with it. But possibilities still exist, and I'd like to be the one who help you out on those times. There's also the fact that I'm the one assigned to be your partner, so I feel that it's pretty natural for me to take on the job. At least, let me do it until you can find that special person to you."
It felt like more than minutes have passed when Shun regained his composure and returned Kai's words with his usual enigmatic smile. "Even though Kai is also an Alpha who is dangerous for an Omega like me?"
"I have confidence that I have the self-control. Does it bother you, after all?"
"Not really? I trust that you can keep your words."
It's decided then, the words accompanied the smile that appeared on Kai's mien as the serious expression that he had until a moment ago melted away. Shun quickly concluded that it has a fearsome power, because not only that it was infectious and brought the same serene smile onto his lips, but it also caused a pleasant, comforting warmth spreads within his chest.
