Chapter Text
Void
Surrounded by a void.
There was nothing for miles around me.
Then it started… The ringing… explosions followed… then that horrid smile…
Then pain…
Pain…
PAin…
PAIN..
Tommy awoke with a start, shooting up to sit up in the bed he was in, a scream caught in his throat. He heaves out deep breaths, choking up slightly, and blinks the blurriness out of his eyes. Once he gathered his surroundings, he recognized the room in Snowchester that Tubbo and Ranboo dedicated to Him and Shroud. Tommy groaned as he rolled out of the bed putting on his prosthetic foot before standing fully. By the light outside, Tommy estimated it was about 10 am. Once Tommy started to get up and make noise, a small, quiet hiss could be heard from the small bed beside his own. Tommy looked over at the small child tangled in the blanket as all of his 6 arms tried to cover his head with his blanket at the same time. Tommy chuckled as he went over and scooped his child up, resulting in a surprised squeal like a hiss leaving Shroud's mouth at being suddenly picked up.
“Come on, you brat, it's time to get up!” Tommy says as the child squeals out, laughing as he tries to wiggle out of Tommy's grip.
“Don't wanna!!” Shroud squeals as his efforts lead to nothing. Tommy continues to walk out to the kitchen of Snowchester, only putting Shroud down once Michael comes running over, grabbing the edge of Tommy's shirt, clearly wanting to play with his best friend. Tommy chuckles as he gently puts the three-year-old down. Shroud finally can shake off the blanket, but in the process, only further messes up his fluffy black hair that is already atrocious from the sleep he just woke up from. The two toddlers run off as Tommy picks up the blanket and folds it up, setting it on the couch to take back to their room later.
“Morning, Toms” Ranboo chirps out as he walks into the kitchen, soon after Tommy, ruffling Tommy's hair as he passes by the teen. Tommy attempts to swat away Ranboo's hand but fails, letting out a huff at false annoyance as he rolls his eyes.
“Mornin', Boob-boy.” Tommy grumbles out, graciously accepting the cup of coffee Ranboo gives him.
“You're up earlier than normal.” Ranboo comments quietly, ignoring the nickname Tommy has given him despite his past protest. Tommy chuckles, brushing off the underlying concern in Ranboo's voice,
“A Big man like myself is too amazing to sleep in.” Tommy says quietly, still on edge from the events that had happened yesterday. Dream escaped. Techno helped him. And if it wasn't for Ranboo knowing Sam had lied about having Michael, as Tubbo, Ranboo, and Tommy had been putting in extra effort to keep their kids hidden, Ranboo could have died. Tommy can't help but think of all the threats to their lives right now…Dream escaped, Wilbur is revived, Techno betrayed them by helping free Dream, and the rest of the Smp would love to see Tommy's gravestone become permanent. Tommy jumps as he feels a hand gently touch his wings, a yelp leaving Tommy as his wings flare as if ready to protect the Avian they are attached to.
“Sorry, Tommy! I was just trying to look at their healing progress. I didn't realize you were zoned out and would have seen my movements! I didn't mean to startle you like that!-” Ranboo starts to ramble out his apologies between worried warbles. Tommy grabs Ranboo's hand, cutting off any further apologies with a laugh as Tommy tries to force his body to relax. It's just Ranboo for Prime's sake.
“You're alright, Big man, I didn't mean to zone out like that.” Tommy says, shrugging off the startle he got. The Avian then flares his wings so his red wings can be examined by his friend more easily. Ranboo's hand gently traces over the damaged wings. There are signs of burn damage from doomsday, signs of when Dream clipped Tommy's wings during exile, not to mention Tommy didn't want anyone to touch his wings too much, so his wings were a mess from improper preening. The said wings twitched from discomfort as Tommy tried to keep calm and let Ranboo continue to inspect them. Ranboo, sensing Tommy's discomfort, pulls his hands away from the wings, and Tommy moves to sit at the table. Tommy relaxed, laying his head down at the table before he looked up at Ranboo, debating something as he let out a sigh.
“Where's Tubs, Bigman?” Tommy speaks up while looking at his coffee, deep in thought.
“He fell asleep in his workshop last night. I moved him to our room this morning, but when I got up with Michael this morning, he was still asleep.” Ranboo continues as he moves to grab flour and sugar from the cabinets and some eggs and milk from the fridge. “Are pancakes good with you for breakfast? I can cook up some ham with it as well!" Ranboo suggests as he get a bowl down to mix the batter for breakfast. Tommy nods with a smile and hums in agreement, his upper body still lying on the table.
“Sounds good, Big man…” Tommy mutters out with a muffled, small yawn, leaving him. Tommy tries to force himself awake as he sits up slightly to sip on the coffee. Ranboo looks back over his shoulder at the sound of Tommy's quiet yawn.
“You can sleep more if you want…” Ranboo suggests softly, only for Tommy to scoff at the idea.
“I'm fine, big man… I just need the coffee to kick in…” Tommy gets out with a huff as his talking slows slightly as he tries to stay awake. Ranboo hums as he rolls his eyes and starts talking aimlessly.
“I was thinking of upping the security around SnowChester. It's already good, but maybe it can be improved with a big gate on the border of the property. We could make it necessary to have a key to enter as well. But this would all have to be approved by Tubbo, of course. This idea would still need to be fleshed out, of course. Like, what would we make it out of to prevent anyone from getting in? There is also the risk of ender pearls. In the end, would a wall do any good against that homeless teletubbie?” Ranboo starts to ramble as he focuses on making the late breakfast for everyone. However, when he received no response, he looked over his shoulder towards the tired blonde, and as expected, Tommy was asleep at the table. Ranboo lets out a quiet huff of amusement, “I knew you were tired…” He mutters as he quietly pulls away the cup of coffee from Tommy's tired grasp on it, so he doesn't accidentally burn himself while he sleeps. By the time Tommy wakes up, he can hear quiet talking from Ranboo and Tubbo…so of course he pretends to be asleep to hear what they are talking about without him.
“What do we do? I… I don't think he can survive Him being free again…” Ranboo quietly mutters, and Tommy can practically see the concern in his eyes as Ranboo says that. Before Tommy can dwell on that, Tubbo hums in consideration.
“I know what you mean…but Tommy would survive…the question is if he would remain sane… Do you remember what Tommy said to us about what that…that thing wanted to do to him? I don't know if Tommy could stay sane if he were to get his hands on Tommy…” Tubbo says quietly to Ranboo with fury filling his voice. “I mean… who could stay sane with a sadistic psychopath trying to kill you constantly just to revive you and do it all over again…” Tommy can't help the slight anger at the idea that he is being considered weak by his two friends, but at least he wasn't being assumed to not be able to survive. Although Tommy doesn't like the…the pity they are giving him. Before Tommy could think more about it, Ranboo spoke up.
“....I think Tommy was right…” Ranboo says quietly, “ That man needs to die… I will admit I was hesitant at first to think that killing him was the only option, but… during the jailbreak, I saw firsthand how willing he was to use people… Not to mention people we thought would protect us were willing to try and kill me…” Ranboo says remembering how Sam tried to pretend to have Michael, ready to kill Ranboo if he didn't comply. Tommy wanted to get up and yell ‘I told you so!’ but then Ranboo takes a breath to continue before cutting himself off quietly. “Is Tommy waking up?” Tubbo hums in thought as Tommy freezes and tries to continue pretending to be asleep.
“No, he's awake, he's not snoring.”
“I DO NOT SNORE,” Tommy can't help but retort as he shoots up from lying on the table. But as he shoots up, he is met with Tubbo smirking.
“Welp, that answers that question, he's awake, boo,” Tubbo says with a snicker, knowing Tommy wouldn't be able to resist defending his pride. Tommy huffs, annoyed at being called out like that before zoning out, looking at his hands on the table.
“Well, we need to address the elephant in the room. What are we going to do? As much as that teletubbie deserves to die, we all know what happened last time it was attempted, and not to mention that's when he was free.” Tubbo says breaking the silence that covered the three, while Ranboo served Tommy his portion of breakfast and coffee.
“I'm not some weakling who can't handle themselves…” Tommy mutters out with a frown, glaring at the plate in front of him.
“Tom's, big man, we never said you were. But shit! Just look at yourself! That was all caused by the last time he was free! Now that he's out with less sanity than before…” Tubbo trailed off, getting slightly riled at Tommy's thought process. “ Also, we need to think about what to do with Michael and Shroud! I just don't know what to do!” Tubbo says, frustrated at the situation, while Tommy remains silent. Tommy hadn't considered before that Dream might try to use Shroud against him. The thought alone makes Tommy's skin crawl. He looks over at the two 3-year-olds playing, and his face becomes determined.
“...we can't kill him…so we run,” Tommy says bluntly, determination still evident on his face as both Ranboo and Tubbo look at him in shock.
“ Would that even work?” Ranboo asks nervously, while Tubbo nods slowly while thinking.
“I think it would, bossman. He may find us, but if we keep on the run, we could probably get far enough away that he couldn't find us.” Tubbo says while continuing to think about Tommy's Idea. “ I can't believe you said a good idea Toms,” Tubbo adds on with a smirk, and Tommy squawks in offense.
“HEY! I'LL LET YOU KNOW MY IDEAS ARE ALWAYS GOOD!” Tommy retorts, flicking a piece of egg towards Tubbo, which hits Tubbo's hair, missing his face, and Tubbo lets out a huff of annoyance. Ranboo pipes up before a fight could break out.
“Where could we go where he couldn't find us?” He asks softly, his ears drooping in disappointment at the idea they won't be able to escape.
“ I can help with that.” A new voice pipes up, startling the 3 teens at the sudden visitor that appeared before them.
.
.
.
“Goddess of Death…I've found an issue I want to bring to your attention.” The Figure says confidentiality, Kristen raised an eyebrow as she looked down at the younger god.
“ What troubles you, my dear Chaos?” Kristen asks softly with a soft hum.
“XD has the Book of Death. He's given it to a dangerous man. One who has made actions against our protected ones.” Kristen is silent in shock at the claim being made about the other god messing with HER book of death.
“I'm sorry, Drista. Run that by me again. XD has… WHAT?” Kristen asks, furious with what Drista has brought to her attention.
“He gave the Book of Death to a mortal. He gave it to Dream. I know I've been banned from messing with the mortal world, but with him doing something so big, I'd like to do something big as well…” Drista says with a smirk, mischief radiating off of her.
“And what is it you want to do?” The goddess of death asks the goddess of chaos, looking at her hesitantly but willing to hear the young goddess out.
.
.
.
“Drista! Is that you? I haven't seen you in forever!” Tommy exclaims, perking up at the Chaos goddess, who he considers a friend.
“Wait, what do you mean you can help us leave?” Ranboo interrupts, confused. The goddess keeps her smirk as she explains.
“ The death goddess has allowed me to get you guys out of here. I haven't seen you in so long, Tommy, because I was put on probation for messing with your fickle human lives. But now, since XD gave the Book of Death to Dream, I was able to convince Kristen to let me meddle one last time!” Drista explains as she paces while floating in the air, doing it with ease as if she were pacing on the floor.
“And how do you plan to help us?” Tubbo asks with crossed arms, very hesitant about what Drista is offering.
“ I can send you three to a completely different SMP.” The three teens look at the goddess in shock.
“ Wait WHAT?” Tommy yells wide-eyed. Dream was the only one to have access to the server, and he prevents anyone from leaving after they join unless Dream permits it. Drista nods with a smirk, obviously proud of her power.
“And we won't be targeted for this?” Ranboo asked nervously, a bit more hesitant about the deal. Tommy grabs Ranboo's arm, ecstatic.
“Big man! Think about it. We will be free. FREE. We can forget about Dream and anyone else! We will be in no harm's way! It would be a safe place for both Michael and Shroud!” Tommy explains his excitement about the idea growing. He would do anything to keep Shroud safe and get away from that monster. Tubbo perked up but still seemed slightly hesitant.
“Can we bring what we want to this new world? What about Dream couldn't he go looking for us? Would anyone know where we went? Would there be any new rules we would need to know, like the 3 life system here?-” Tubbo nervously asks, it all seemed too good to be true, which added to the fact that he wants to make sure they're safe.
“Pause.” Drista cuts off Tubbo so she could at least have some time to answer his questions. “I will give you a bag that has the space of one inventory. Whatever you can fit in there and on your person, you cannot use inventories, you can take with you. The world I chose is one that Dream wouldn't even think of, but that being said, the world has a lot of different rules. I will give you a book on most of the main differences you need to know, a separate book on the history of the world you're going into, and finally, a book about the town I'm putting you into. No one would know where you went, I alone would know where you went. However, Dream would know you guys left, as he is the admin. But that's why I chose somewhere so different. You'll all be under Kristen and I's protection from him. However, if you die in this other world, it's game over.” Drista gets out the long explanation without giving any of them room to argue or question her. The three look to one another, and with a deep breath, Tubbo nods. Ranboo looks nervous but brings a hand up to his mouth in thought, and after a few seconds looks up to Drista.
“Would potions work there?” Ranboo asks with a tilt of his head as he looks at Drista.
“No, they wouldn't, as you would be under a whole new system of chemicals. I'll add in a basic chemistry book in the mix, but other knowledge would need to be sought out for once you get there.” Drista says with a small shrug.
“When would we go?” Tommy asks nervously, finding all this information to be a lot.
“If you agree, we will go in about half an hour.” Drista says definitively, “No arguments, as I am on a time crunch and we don't want XD to catch on. Therefore, I also need an answer now. Do you all want to leave this place for good?” Tommy looks the most hopeful as he smiles over to both Tubbo and Ranboo. Tubbo looks hopeful but hesitant, while Ranboo is nervous, and as the two look at each other, they both slowly nod.
“Let's do this,” Ranboo says with a bit more confidence, from both Tubbo and Tommy's hope.
“Great. Here's your bag,” Drista says as she hands over a leather duffel bag. “I suggest not losing this bag as its space inside is like one of your inventories, nothing in the world you're going to is going to have space like that.” She warns, and Ranboo nods as he takes it hesitantly. The three split up to start gathering their stuff. Tubbo grabbed their basic clothes that the three would need and basic personal belongings that he knew of that the others would want. Ranboo went to their storage room to grab gold, diamonds, and other materials they may need. Finally, Tommy took care of grabbing the kids’ needs with basic clothes and a favorite plush each. As they finished up their gathering, Tommy went over and grabbed a stack of bread and golden apples. However, when he went to grab golden apples, Drista stopped him.
“Those won't work there.” She said softly as Tommy looked at her, confused.
“Gapples won't work there???” He asked as if the thought alone was absurd.
“Nope, same with potions, it's a different chemistry system. And armor won't be needed as well.” She says, eyeing Ranboo and Tubbo as they now have armor on. They both hesitated but eventually took it off.
Ranboo hesitantly chuckled, “I guess that means this new world will be more peaceful…”
Drista shrugged and gestured so-so with her hand. “ The majority of the time, it is better, but it still has some instances. Now your time’s up!” She says, and almost as if on cue, an alarm appeared in the air that started ringing, that time was indeed up. After she turned it off, she continued with her talk,“ Now you will all be teleported to the outskirts of a small town. I see you were smart enough to bring a type of currency. I would suggest first setting up finances and stuff first thing in your book, you will find a birth certificate for all 5 of you. Michael's parents are labeled as Ranboo and Tubbo, while Shroud is labeled as your son Tommy, with the mother labeled as unknown.” As Drista finishes talking, Tubbo puts on the heavy bag they filled while Ranboo picks up Michael. Shroud is being held by Tommy when Tommy looks up, confused.
“Wait, aren't you going to give us time to prepare before we go?” Tommy asks in a slightly offended but slightly worried tone.
“Nope! I'm not the goddess of chaos for nothing. Good luck!” With Drista's final farewell, a portal opens underneath the 5 as they fall to the new world. Once their screams are gone, and silence takes over the room, Drista closes the portal with a smirk as she then disappears.
