Well if you've click this far, don't know why but you must be bored. thanks though! lemme know your thoughts in the comments, I'd love to hear them:

Work Text:

SUBJECT PROFILE: THANATOS

Status: Escaped Biological Asset / "Public Safety Threat"

Classification: Hyper-Carnivorous Urban Bioweapon

  1. PHYSICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Height: 8’9” (Standard); 8’6” (Lower profile achieved by dropping to plantigrade, resting his raised ankles flat on the floor, though this is uncomfortable for him).
  • Weight: Minimal. He possesses a severely starved appearance with almost no muscle mass.
  • Age: 5.5 years (Biologically and mentally).
  • Complexion & Texture: His skin is the color of aged vellum or wet clay—a pale, desaturated grey-green. It looks translucent over his bones, lacking warmth or blood flow, and appears matte and dry.

Anatomy Breakdown:

  • The Torso: An extreme hourglass figure. His ribs are easily visible through thin, papery skin. The ribcage naturally narrows sharply at the bottom, and the skin wraps drum-tight around his lumbar spine before flaring out drastically at his jutting, unnatural hip bones.
  • The Face & Head: Long and oval-shaped. He lacks eyes; in their place are deep concaves angled downward on the outer edges. Just beneath these concaves, the bone curves inward into a smooth, crescent-shaped dip. This sub-orbital hollow casts soft shadows, giving him a perpetual expression of shy curiosity that looks almost "cute."
  • The Mouth: He has no lips and large, yellow teeth. Because of the teeth, he cannot completely close his mouth, leaving a permanent 1–2 cm gap. His jaw naturally curves upward, locking his face in a permanent "smile." He can fully unhinge his jaw.
  • The Nose: He lacks a traditional external nose. Instead, two narrow, dark olfactory slits sit centered between his jaw and eye sockets, twitching slightly when he breathes.
  • The Limbs: Bipedal legs with one toe on his raised ankles and two on the foot itself. Each hand features two long fingers with clawed tips and a shorter opposable thumb.
  • The Membranes (Patagium): Deep purple, highly elastic, stretchy skin is located at the back of his unhinged jaw, at his armpits, and webbed between his fingers. This tissue vibrates slightly when he is agitated.
  • The Tongue: A slightly darker purple than his membranes, his tongue is nearly a foot long. He keeps it folded inside his mouth but uses it frequently as an extra appendage.

Movement:

  • His gait is spindly and slightly jerky, moving like a marionette with too-long limbs.
  1. LINGUISTICS & COMMUNICATION

Thanatos has the complex vocal cords necessary for speech, but his lack of lips, massive teeth, and oversized tongue make true human speech impossible.

  • The "Open-Mouth" Accent: Because he cannot create a seal to trap air, his speech is airy, hollow, and "leaks" out the sides of his mouth. Vowels are clear, but labial consonants (B, P, M) are impossible. "Hello" sounds like "He-yoe," and "Thanatos" sounds like "Aa-na-ose."
  • Vocal Texture: His voice sounds like a warped cassette tape—hollow, wet, and slightly distorted. It possesses a "recorded" or reverberant quality, much like a parrot mimicking a human. He breathes in a wet, high-pitched whistle.
  • Tongue Tapping: To compensate for missing consonants, he uses his massive tongue to slap the roof of his mouth, creating strange clicking or sucking sounds mid-sentence.
  • Cognitive Mimicry (Echolalia): Operating with a 5-year-old's awareness, he often repeats the last three words said to him with the exact same inflection. He fixates on specific phrases—like "Good boy" or "Come here"—using them whenever he wants attention, even if he is actually hungry or frightened.
  • Non-Verbal Cues: When frustrated that he cannot be understood, he lets out a low, vibrating hum that resonates in his chest and purple armpit membranes.

III. PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE

  • The "Asset" Mentality vs. The "Child": Thanatos was engineered as a lethal bioweapon for urban pacification, but mentally, he is a toddler seeking affection. The kindness he received in the lab was clinical maintenance, but to him, it was love.
  • The Pink Collar: He wears a pink collar labeled "PET." To the government lab techs, this was a cynical joke to make a killing machine look harmless. To Thanatos, the collar is a vital security blanket that smells like "home." He wears it willingly.
  • Self-Soothing & Quirks: * When scared or lonely, he uses his long tongue to "groom" the purple membranes on his arms, or rhythmically taps his large yellow teeth together.
    • The "Play" Pose: When meeting someone he likes, he tries to make his 8'9" frame look "small" by folding his spindly limbs in on himself and tucking his chin to his chest, maximizing the "puppy-dog" look of his eye concaves.
  • The "Kitten" Dilemma (Morality): Thanatos is a hyper-carnivore with a blindingly fast metabolism; hunger causes him physical pain. He does not understand the moral weight of killing humans. To him, being stranded in a city of humans is like a starving castaway stranded on an island of kittens. He feels a vague sense of "badness" or guilt after eating (like a child breaking a vase), but simply views humans as "the things that stop the stomach pain."
  1. ORIGIN & ESCAPE LORE
  • The Nursery Condition: Thanatos was raised in a secure government facility. He learned that acting "cute" (tilting his head, mimicking sounds) earned him positive reinforcement. However, observing his handlers interact normally with other humans through the glass made him realize he was not part of their "family."
  • The "Sloppy" Escape: His escape was not a calculated breakout, but a tragedy. The one person in the program who showed him genuine sympathy—his Caretaker—got sloppy. In a moment of vulnerability, the Caretaker left a cage unlocked or breached protocol.
  • The Massacre: Driven by sudden instinctual hunger or an attempt to "play" too roughly, Thanatos accidentally killed his Caretaker. Confused as to why his friend "stopped moving," the blaring alarms and rushing guards panicked him. In pure terror, he lashed out with his engineered strength, causing a massacre as he tore his way out of the underground compound and fled to the surface.
  • The Weight of the Past: He subconsciously associates "Kindness" with "Someone gets hurt." If a new person tries to be kind to him, he may initially flinch or back away in fear.
  1. LIFE IN THE CITY
  • The Vertical Playground: Thanatos avoids open streets, living in the "dead spaces" of the big city: crawl spaces, subway maintenance tunnels, and narrow gaps between skyscrapers.
  • Sensory Overload: The neon lights, subway screeches, and the overwhelming scent of thousands of humans keep his 5-year-old mind in a state of constant, twitchy anxiety. He associates the sterile smell of chemicals with being "Good," and the smell of the city with being "Bad/Hungry."
  • The Nest: He has built a nest in an abandoned boiler room or subway alcove near a heat pipe to mimic the warmth of his lab.
  • The Bloody Treasure: Inside his nest, he hoards "toys" taken from his victims (watches, hats). His most prized possession is a blood-stained ID badge or scrap of clothing from his dead Caretaker, which he sniffs when he is lonely.
  1. TIMELINE OF EVENTS
  1. Year 0: Subject Thanatos is engineered and decanted in a top-secret government facility as a biological weapon.
  2. Years 1–4: Development of the "Pet" persona. Intensive conditioning by the primary Caretaker. Subject is fitted with the pink collar.
  3. Year 5: Subject observes normal human interaction through containment glass; early signs of depression and mimicking behavior noted in logs.
  4. Year 5.5 (The Incident): Caretaker breaches safety protocols. Subject accidentally kills Caretaker. A panic-induced massacre follows as security intervenes. Subject escapes the underground facility into the city's sewage/subway system.
  5. Current Day: Subject is hiding in the city's "dead spaces." Government retrieval teams are actively hunting him using thermal imaging and high-frequency "recall" emitters. Subject is desperately seeking food and affection.

VII. NARRATIVE HOOKS & STORY PROMPTS

  • The "Recall" Emitter: The government forces hunting him use a specific high-frequency pitch. When Thanatos hears it in the city, it causes physical pain and makes him cry, triggering a biological compulsion to walk back to his prison.
  • The 'Smile' Dissonance: Because his face is locked in a permanent, lipless grin, he can sound incredibly sad or frightened while still looking like he is thrilled, creating a deeply disturbing contrast for his Protector or his victims.
