Chapter Text
The station of 9¾ is once again as busy as it is every start of semester in Hogwarts. People, witches and wizards, bustle and buzz around the land as Vivian Estellar and her parents apparated near the train, her mother—Veronica Estellar— was telling her young daughter to be careful and have fun at her first year at the majestic school. Her father—Vincent Estellar— on the other hand, was carrying her trunk towards the train. Some wizards and witches recognise the Estellar family, "It's one of the sacred 29" said by an old witch. Others seem oblivious and couldn't care less. But people underestimate the Estellar family, and they shouldn't.
"Remember, Viv, stay away from bad influence alright?" Vivian's mother warned "And be happy and proud of your house, no matter what it may be." She added, her voice as smooth as velvet.
"Yes mother, I understand." Vivian answered with a small smile. She's getting annoyed at her mother's words, she's already heard them hundreds of times since her letter showed up at their doorstep. But she couldn't blame her mother, she understood just how much her mum was woried for her and her social life. But she'd handle it, she has Leta by her side. People say childhood friends fall apart but not with Vivian and Leta, they've been friends since diapers. And they are still as inseperable as they were before.
"Do not worry, Mrs. Estellar, i'll keep Vivy here safe and sound." Leta teased beside the red-hair as the young girl huffs.
"Seriously mum, I'll be alright." Vivian repeated. Veronica sighed and hugged her daughter, the young girl responded and hugged her mother back. She'll miss her mother, but that's growing up. Vivian understood that being independent with her parents is a must for her future, and this would be a huge step for her.
"Viv, Leta, you both better get on that train before it leaves!" Vivian's father called out.
"Bye mum, I'll write if I can!" Vivian said as Leta walked towards the train. "As well as for dad, I'll make sure I'll pass every flying lesson!" She beamed.
"That's my girl." Vincent smirked as he ruffles his daughter's hair. Vivian was not pleased with that action. She just did her hair and now it was a mess again. Nonetheless, the girl smiled at her parents before hoping on a train and entering a compartment where Leta was already sitting. Veronica and Vincent was waving at the girl with emotions as mixed as a potion. Vivian smiled hopelessly at the pair, there'd be days of writing on how much they would miss her.
As the train started to move, there were parents waving at the train, including her parents. And students as well, their heads popped out of the window as they cry out their farewell for their guardians. Leta did the same as well, Vivian did not. Her mother would scold her on how poking your head out of the window is considered dangerous. And they've already left, going back to their jobs. Her mother was an alchemist while her father is a full time quidditch player and was known to be the best seeker of this time. She remembered how her father had told her about "Muggle Quidditch" and she described it as less dangerous and less deadly, and she still does.

Arriving at Hogwarts is one of the memories Vivian would never forget. Stars twinkly brightly under the moonlight as the gatekeeper guides every boat towards the entrance of Hogwarts. She pity some of the kids on other boats, they got wet. Luckily her boat didn't got targeted by the giant squid she had seen earlier before. As they step out of the boats, students whine and cry about how the water ruined their looks. Some older students helped them dry off by using a charm. Vivian takes note of this, she always wanted to be an alchemist like her mother. After a bit of waiting outside the great hall, a man emerges from the large door. Vivian must've guess that he's either the Headmaster or the Deputy headmaster.
"Good evening, students. I'm Professor Armando Dippet, the Deputy Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry." The deputy answered. Vivian was silent and listened to the Professor, seemingly right about her guess.
"The banquet would begin after all of you are sorted in your house. Now, you might be asking, what are the houses? Well, to answer your curios and wonderful minds, there are four houses. Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff."
"The sorting ceremony would soon start as you enter this room. Please be patient as I will return to the great hall." Dippet said calmly as he disappears back to the great hall.
While the first years wait for the Deputy to return, or to enter the Great Hall. Vivian was already thinking of what house she would be in. Her mother was in Slytherin while her father was in Ravenclaw. So there would be a fifty-fifty chance she'd get either of the houses. Leta talked about how she's getting in Slytherin like all of her family has for decades already, and she couldn't blame that. If Leta was in any other house, mostly Gryffindor, her family would have a fit. It's a good thing that The Estellar family was not a blood-supremacist. Nor do they care what house they would be in. They're still family at the very end.
The doors to the great hall opened as the gatekeeper gestured them to walk in. One by one, students walked inside towards the other end of the room. Vivian looked up, seeing the wonderful and majestic charm of the deep starry sky. Oh how she's glad to know magic. Being a muggle must've been boring. She heard whispers and sighs of awe as the students her age look up at the ceiling, others who has already siblings studying in that school wave at them with joy and nervousness while the Professor's sat at the front, the Deputy headmaster the only one standing near a stool and a witches hat. Every pure-blood know this hat is the sorting hat that came from Godric Gryffidor himself.
Sat at the teacher's table was various different professors with different subjects that they teach. And in the middle was the Headmaster and known from the Sacred 29. Phineas Nigellus Black. Vivian had heard of him and his family line. The families of Sacred 29 was always invited in the House of Black's beautiful ball held every year in winter. The headmaster seemed to notice her gaze as he smiled at the young girl. Vivian smiled back just a tad bit before looking at the sorting hat. Dippet started to call the first years alphabetically, others going to Gryffindor, others in Ravenclaw. A tad bit in Slytherin and Hufflepuff.
"Estellar, Vivian!" Dippet finally called. With all of the girl's nerves, she slowly walked up and sat on the stool as Dippet placed the sorting hat on top of her head. She'd be lying if she said she never heard the students whisper as her name was mentioned. Some knew her because of her father, the others due to their knowledge of the sacred 29, whilst the others ask why everyone is whispering her name.
"Creative, Beautiful, and stunning mind." The sorting hat started to speak, Vivian is dying of nervousness inside of her. "Strong, curios, and clever as well. You can fit in any house, my dear.." It continued.
"But I can only pick one so.... Hufflepuff!" The sorting hat shouted, the house of yellow and black erupted of joy as Vivian stood up and smiled, instantly walking towards the table where the Hufflepuff is sitting at.
"Oh sorry-" She muttered as she bumped into a boy with tousled hair and shy appearance.
The boy muttered something back but she hadn't heard him. The boy glanced at her way, his nerves and his anxiety getting the best of him as he looks back down at the ground. As the students file out to their house, Vivian was starting to starve. Sadly, she couldn't speak to Leta because her table was on the other side. She was in Slytherin as expected, her parents would be proud. But Vivian's? They'll either be proud or disappointed but would still love her as the same. Her grandmother was in Hufflepuff before, so no harsh feelings for that. But Vivian was still afraid. Her anxiousness gets the best of her sometime.
As the last student was placed in Hufflepuff, the headmaster stood up and started to announce and welcome everyone to Hogwarts for the first time and again. He also added rules for the first years to cooperate with the prefects and the professors. And after a boring speech and a whole 3 minutes of the choir singing as if they're in the opera. Food finally showed up to the table. Vivian, with all her hand could get, took a massive piece of chicken as well as other food that looks delicious. And as the students eat, they chat with their friends while others tried to befriend some first years, in which Vivian got.
"Hey, you're an Estellar, right? How does it feel to be one of the sacred 29?"
"I've heard that your father is a famous seeker, would you join Quidditch here as well?"
"I've seen your mother's books, are you good in Potions as well?"
Those questions are the same questions she got asked ever since her name was called. And Vivian was livid, it's always about her family and not her. What could she do? Her family is quite known for many things. She ever wonders if someone's going to ask about her, which would have a low chance of happening. Even from the other houses she got asked about her family name. It was like she was overshadowed by her sibling. But she doesn't have a sibling, at all. She can't do anything but to stay strong for a year and so. It's alright, as long as she has Leta by her side everything would be alright.

"Remember, the passcode to enter our House is not by word, but by pattern." The Hufflepuff Head Boy—Theseus Scamander— said to the first years. "This is the pattern, do not forget." He reminded, his gaze at a young boy at the front. The boy nodded anxiously and looked at the barrels. Vivian watched the prefect do the pattern, the barrels rolling to the side as Scamander entered, the first years following suite.
As Vivian enters, her eyes are wide in awe and shock. The common room is in a form of a circle, but nonetheless it looks very cozy. It gives off an earthy feeling as the room resembles a badger sett. Which looks pretty comfy, and how it smells like fresh baked pastries here with a hint of earthly smells. Vivian watched in awe, the common room is decorated with leaves, flowers, and plants with the wood polished and honey-coloured. The furniture here is decorated in yellow and black as it represent their colour. There is a circular window that catches the view of the meadows and two barrel-looking doors in each side of the room.
"Cozy, isn't it?" Scamander smiled. "The Girl Dormitories are on the left door, the boys on the right." He told.
"Your stuff and cases are already there, you all may have a good's night rest. Class starts tomorrow at Nine, best be early to get your schedule."
The students started making their way to the dormitories, Vivian following a girl who seems to be her dormmate, as well as two other Hufflepuff's. The three seems to be so close, and Vivian was nervous. But her housemate said not to fret, because they claimed to be nice. So Vivian calmed down a little. Good thing she's in Hufflepuff, this house has lots of good influence. Not all but there is lots of them.

It's been months and Vivian was not so happy, she has few friends, yes and they are nice and comfortable to be with, but they expected much more from her. And also how the other started to gossip nasty stuff about her. She and Leta don't talk much anymore due to they have different schedule, which was a bummer. Leta had told Vivian that she's been getting bullied and that she's been feeling so lonely, Vivian had sworn that whoever had bullied Leta they would pay. In which case, Leta laughed. But the bullying never stops, and to stop Vivian from getting worried, Leta doesn't tell her and instead pay them back, which causes lots of trouble from the girl that Vivian started to question.
Of course, Leta shrugged it off as a Slytherin trait but Vivian didn't believed that excuse. So one day, when Leta and Vivian were walking side by side after lunch, they overheard them two Gryffindor's in front of them talking bad about Leta. Leta glared at the duo infront, but Vivian tried to stop Leta, she failed. Miserably. So out of anger, the young Lestrange casted a dark charm at one of the Gryffindor's. Leta suddenly realizing what she'd done, froze in fear for a moment. Before grabbing Vivian's hand and started to run away as the Gryffindor's friend started to call their head of house for help and punishment.
"Merlin's beard, Leta." Vivian laughed as the pair successfully hid away from the massive crowd that seemed to follow them. "Hurry, we better hide." She added as the two started to walk up a small tower no one seems to ever enter.
"I'm sorry for involving you, Vivy" Leta sighed as the two finally reached the end of the stairs, the room still has the same structure as the school has. The room was filled with jars that has various creatures in it, and the two girls noticed a boy treating an injured Raven. His tousled, curly hair hiding his one eye as he looked up and saw the two. Vivian recognized him, it was the Head Boy's younger brother, though she doesn't know his name. Only his surname which is alright because they have different schedules and doesn't even talk to one another.
"Oh.. hi." The boy muttered as the two pair sat in front of him, eyeing the raven with curiosity. "He's hurt, you see... broke his wing" he explained.
"Poor bird" Vivian sighed. "Did you treat it?" She asked as the boy nodded.
"What're you doing here?" Leta asked curiously.
"Well, the professor's wouldn't want me having these creatures... and no one usually comes here except Peeves... though it's only a rare occurrence." He explained. "And... you two?"
"Running away from the crowd" Vivian answered. "My friend here chanted a charm and that infuriates the student" She shrugged.
"They were talking bad about me" Leta defended.
"And it's acceptable! I'm on your side." Vivian answered which made Leta smiled.
"I'm Newt Scamander." Newt said to the two, but he was rather looking at Leta more than Vivian, which Vivian didn't bother to point it out yet.
"Leta Lestrange, and this is-"
"Vivian Estellar." Vivian smiled, Newt nodded.
"Vivian.. I've heard a lot about you from my dormmates" Newt explained which made the red-hair frown. Newt seing this, started to stutter.
"I've never believed them.. I- I swear! I know it must be tiring to hear false gossip and... and... being known for your family-"
Vivian just sighed. "It's alright Newt, I'm starting to get used to it."
"We should be a trio." Leta started. "We're seen here as weirdos and outcasts. Let's be friends" She said to Newt, who just nodded shyly. Vivian chuckled. "Having a new friend won't sound bad. But we don't have the same schedule" She whines.
"Maybe you could ask our head of house to have the same schedule as ours?" Newt suggested. "Me and Lestrange have the same class schedule."
"Yeah, Vivy, ask your head of house! I've heard he's pretty fond of you due to because your grandmother excels Herbology and so do you!"
Vivian sighed and nodded. "I'll try, okay?"
Newt and Leta smiled "Splendid!" Said Leta

After that day, the Head of Hufflepuff accepted Vivian's offer and has now the same schedule as Leta and Newt. And since then, Newt and Vivian became very close. And Leta and Vivian became even closer. The three were inseparable. No matter where one goes, the other two won't be far. And as the years pass by the three, there seems to be a problem that the three don't ever speak off. Vivian started to have feelings for Newt while Newt has feelings for Leta, Leta reciprocates Newt's feelings though she was still oblivious to it. Still, their feelings never broke their trio. And the three continued on studying and being kind.
That was until 5th Years arrived. After an incident of Leta's experiment in which endangering Vivian's life. Vivian's parents were livid at Leta and ordered Vivian to stop being friends with her but Vivian refused. So her parents transferred her to Ilvermorny as her family was moving to the States. This devastated Vivian and told Leta about it, Leta couldn't do anything so she promised that she'll write to her. Vivian told Newt and he understood and wish for the best for Vivian. And Vivian wished him the best as well, the Professors at Hogwarts was discussing on what Newt would face punishment because Newt took the blame for Leta's experiment.
Vivian left Leta and Newt a charmed bracelet which if one misses another, just press the button and it would light up their favourite colour. Newt was Yellows, Leta's Magenta, and Vivian's purple. And after that, they did. Every single day, until they slowly forgot about it. Or Newt and Vivian did, Leta wore it until they grew up. And she doesn't know where Vivian and Newt is. She just hears Newt time to time from Theseus, and she couldn't even write to Vivian because her parents would know. And the Black family seemed to stop their yearly balls for the sacred 29 and started to focus on the Dark Wizard, Grindelwald. So it's a pain that Leta couldn't even catch a glance at Vivian.
Meanwhile, Vivian did well in the states. She wasn't bullied there but they did made fun of her accent from time to time. But she just shrugged it off. She graduated in Ilvermorny and became a wonderful alchemist. While being part of a quidditch team for fun. And people loved her. And due to this, her feelings for Newt finally vanished as she moved on of her life and stayed by her parents side. That was until they died due to Grindelwald's men attacked them and used the three unforgivable curse infront of the girl. Vivian felt empty at her parent's death. Leta wrote her a letter but never went to her. She has no one now. But Vivian's mother always say to not mourn them and live her life to the fullest. And she did as years passed, she's a famous seeker. But only her family would know her as an alchemist. So as the events of New York happens, the Minister of Magic asked for help. And she gladly accepted her help as long as they pay her nicely. This would be the start of a new beginning, and she would live it to the fullest.
