Chapter Text
When Avid had been turned, it felt like the whole world collapsed, even though he had asked for this. He didn't get to sleep through the transformation, everything felt like a sharp piercing pain as his small fangs grew in, and the blood that circuited his body just felt wrong.
But he got used to it over time. Batting felt like torture at first, but now he got the appeal. Shelby was right. She really was. And he had doubted that, even though he himself had asked for this.
But Avid was sick! He didn't know what from, and he wanted it gone. Maybe being a vampire isn't so bad as the townspeople think. Or how he thought.
Life at the castle didn't feel any better than it did in that awful town. No one had believed him, thought he was like the boy who cried wolf. But he was right all along. Maybe too right. That got a lot of people on his bad side, that's for sure. Especially Pyro and Owen. He loved the girls, Shelby and Drift, platonically of course. It seemed like they were spending a lot more time with each other now that they both live in the castle. Cleo thought he was childish. A good for nothing fledgling that would only get them in trouble.
And Scott... God. Avid had mixed feelings about him. He hated his attitude, so reserved and over-confident, thinking he is better than everyone. Yet again... that is what Avid admired about him. He was so confident that people feared him. Scott was a confusing man, that was for sure. Confusing, but very, very attractive.
Currently, a new wing of the castle was being finished up. Just fixing the stained glass in the ballroom is all they'd have to do, then Pyro would build another room, all by himself apparently. No one invited Avid to help build because Drift and Scott were out hunting, and Shelby had just gotten back from collecting materials, the other three, Cleo, Owen, and Pyro were all making progress.
'Maybe I just need some air...' Avid mumbled to himself, swiftly making his way to the entrance of the castle to leave.
Avid walked outside and batted out into the dusk sky, a beautiful orange colour, going wherever the wind took him; he wasn't picky on where he'd go.
He ended up landing somewhere around the obelisk, deep within the dead forest. It's not that he found this place creepy or unnerving, something just wasn't right with those beacons.
Avid sat on a cliff ledge, dangling his legs over the rock. Looking over the horizon, made him contemplate some things.
You'd think someone would need courage or bravery to jump off this cliff. But some... just want life over. Yet unfortunately for him, he was now immortal. Of course, at the exception of a stake through his heart.
Just how he had done with his partner.
Sometimes he wondered what the sweet relief of death would feel like.
He deserved it after all.
If he had jumped into the river below, would it give the sensation of drowning? Why would it.? After all they are the undead. No need to breathe when you practically don't have a heart either.
No time to dwell on the past when the present was right here.
He didn't really like Scott... did he? He couldn't get out of his thoughts. That was, until someone's silhouette dragged above him.
It was Scott's.
Great, the man he had just been thinking about is here...
As Scott cleared his voice, Avid's wandering mind began to place itself back where it was supposed to be. In the present.
