Chapter Text

You wince as you shut your apartment door, the noise setting you on edge already, you pause, leaning your head back as even just this sends pain through you. “Fucking hell” you hiss under your breath, you grip the railing running down the hallway as you try and steady yourself.

Robby clocks you as he’s returning home from a shift, and he’s been meaning to talk to you actually because jack took in one of your parcels and then jack went and got another side job and made Robby promise he’d ’be nice and neighbourly and give it to you’.

“Hey” he murmurs, nodding. You don’t see it though because your eyes are closed and your ears are ringing. You don’t reply.

Robby frowns, he steps closer, into your space actually and you’re vaguely aware something is moving in front of you. You clench your jaw as you push off the hallway, suprised to see Robby standing so close. As soon as your eyes meet his brown ones his heart stutters in his chest. *beuatiful* he thinks
“Oh” you blink, “um-
You press your lips together, brain not working “Robby” he supplies, amusement lacing his words, crossing his arms and leaning on the other side of you.

“Right, mm. Robby, did you say something?” You murmur, trying to sound apologetic as you shift slightly hoping it’ll ease the pain . Robby tilts his head. “I did, I got your parcel, well jack did but he isn’t here so” Robby says, his brows furrow as he studies you. Your eyes narrow and you try to breathe, slow your pulse as the pain relentlessly courses through you.

“Uhuh, ok parcel right sorry, I don’t know why they left it with you I’ve been in all week and - ” you murmur, running a hand through your hair “fuck” you breathe under your breath as you lean heavily on the wall.
“Sweetheart?” Robby says, frowning and if it was any other time the name would of made you raise an eyebrow and marvel over it later

“Mm yeah?” You choke out and Robby’s eyes widen. “I said are you alright” he reaches out and places a hand on your arm, the other hovering above your waist. You whimper as he wraps his arm around you “ok, ok sweetheart I’ve got you, come on” he says softly, urges you toward his door but the way his arm remains around you, supporting you. Robby unlocks his door and gently pulls you toward the couch., helping you sit down. It’s plaid, worn and covered in various blankets and throws. he sighs softly as he bends down, hands gently on your thighs. “Talk to me sweetheart” he says softly, his brown eyes bore into yours. Your hand flies to your mouth as you try to choke back a sob “oh honey” Robby whispers, reaching to cup your chin.

“Mm fine” you say shakily. Robby snorts, despite his growing concern, his eyes crinkling at the corners. His hand remains gently but firmly holding your chin as his eyes flicker over you. You bite the inside of your cheek as everything throbs. “Hurts” you supply helpfully. Robby cocks an brow and waits, he doesn’t miss the way your fingers dig into the cushion or how your pulse is racing. You sigh “it always hurts , ok. It’s just worse this week”. Robby hums, his eyes still locked with yours. “Your shaking” he points out, concerned. “Oh, yeah um, it’ll stop, eventually, or it usually does” you murmur. Robby places the back of his hand on your forehead, frowning.

“Cold too” he comments. “always cold” you add. Robby reaches for the blanket and wraps it around you gently before standing up and getting some water. He holds the rim to your mouth which makes your brows raise even in the state your in. Robby makes the same face back, eyes drifting to your shaking hands and then back to your face . “Open up sweetheart” he says softly, you do. Reluctantly. “There you go” he murmurs placing the glass back down. Your eyes drift close, head spinning, you don’t have it in you to be even remotely pissed that you couldn’t even hold a glass.

“It’s ok” he soothes as he sits next to you. Unzipping his hoodie and placing it around your shoulders, you flinch as his fingers brush your skin. “Sorry” he says, filing it away for later as he pulls your head into his lap. Your breath hitches as another wave of pain hits you but Robby just places his hand on your scalp and starts to rub gently. “Just breathe ok” he says softly “I’m here, I’m not going anywhere sweetheart I’ve got you ok” he murmurs, looking down at you with affection and concern. You nod shakily as a tear runs down your face, Robby swipes it away with his thumb.”your ok, sweetheart” he whispers, his other arm settling around your waist and holding you.

Eventually, with Robby whispering assurance and soothing you, your head clears slightly, exhaustion crashes over you and you start to drift off. He simply pulls you closer and the blanket tighter and settles in for the night.
