Accursed Son IF — I'm A Monster

Summary:

Natsuki Subaru – an anachronistic aberration never meant to exist.

His complexion was as unorthodox as it was peculiar.

Silver hair, amethyst eyes and pointy ears?

Neither of his parents hold such genetic similarities. As far they were concerned...

Their son was an anomaly.

But they still cared for him like any other. Making do to hide his abnormalities so that he can live a peaceful existence with the rest.

But when he came of age, he endeavored to become a Hero.

However the esoteric abilities within his disposal were never meant to be unleashed.

Especially in a world that strongly rejects such strangeness.

"Many lifes gone, but does the world pay any notice?"

Despairing at his own reproachful hide, Subaru cries out for final absolution.

Instead he was sent elsewhere. For what purpose, to finally desist, for kinship, or a solution? He didn't know. But he was sure to figure it our in due measure.

Notes:

Disclaimer: It's a known fact that as a fanfic writer I don't own Re:Zero or any of Tappei's works associated with said author.

This is a nonprofit story for the sake of entertainment and fun.

The idea for this, as well as the inspiration are original and facilitated in the birth of this Treasury.

1) A Fan Theory of mine speculating on Subaru's connection with Satella. Most steer towards the "Subaru is Flugel theory". I decided to think outside the box. What if that wasn't the case? What if Subaru was the witch's child?

2) A Fan Work of another author "The Second Coming Of Satella" which I consider one of the most unique and exotic stories on this site. That's because of its unconventional take on Emilia. With all due respect, the character (in canon) is bland in presentation and her naivety is hinging on astounding.

The author of the mentioned work written his own what if based on how Emilia's mental state would've been if she maintained her consciousness in the confines of stasis. I enjoyed the characterization of that Emilia personality wise, and I was grievously saddened to witness its demise.

So, I made it imperative on myself to write an adaptation of it, but it didn't end there. The first idea fused with this one and became something of irs own thing.

Therefore this is a work in progress. A preview has been written aforethought to give you an idea of the concept of the work.

Chapter 1: Chapter 0: An Unremarkable Preview

Chapter Text

"Why do you look so down?" Emilia asked the strange boy who held her likeness.

"Because I'm an abomination." Subaru swiftly replied, overlooking the cold frame of the thief, "And that was excessive."

"Who dictates what's right and what is not?" Emilia analytically rambled.

"Huh?"

"I don't know why you look like me," Emilia said curiously, "but I can tell, that by the look in your eyes, that you don't conform to common sense."

"A keen grasp of the obvious." Subaru sarcastically replied, "As far as my world's concerned... I'm an alien amongst my peers."

"You don't to be alone." Emilia turned, kneeling slightly, "And you shouldn't distain yourself over your unique visage. That's disgusting!"

"Don't talk to me as if you know me!" Subaru's voiced raised slightly, "You have no idea what I suffered just because of this." He gestured at himself, "I barely even resemble my "parents" .

"I can imagine." Emilia's hand patted his head though he shivered, "But you were born with so-called abnormality – like me – common society dictates such a thing is abhorrent. I think otherwise."

She tentatively cupped his cheeks and maintained contact of the eyes.

"You're special, Subaru. And with me by your side we'll realize your full potential together."
