Chapter Text
"Why do you look so down?" Emilia asked the strange boy who held her likeness.
"Because I'm an abomination." Subaru swiftly replied, overlooking the cold frame of the thief, "And that was excessive."
"Who dictates what's right and what is not?" Emilia analytically rambled.
"Huh?"
"I don't know why you look like me," Emilia said curiously, "but I can tell, that by the look in your eyes, that you don't conform to common sense."
"A keen grasp of the obvious." Subaru sarcastically replied, "As far as my world's concerned... I'm an alien amongst my peers."
"You don't to be alone." Emilia turned, kneeling slightly, "And you shouldn't distain yourself over your unique visage. That's disgusting!"
"Don't talk to me as if you know me!" Subaru's voiced raised slightly, "You have no idea what I suffered just because of this." He gestured at himself, "I barely even resemble my "parents" .
"I can imagine." Emilia's hand patted his head though he shivered, "But you were born with so-called abnormality – like me – common society dictates such a thing is abhorrent. I think otherwise."
She tentatively cupped his cheeks and maintained contact of the eyes.
"You're special, Subaru. And with me by your side we'll realize your full potential together."
