Chapter Text
Nevermore High School, Photography Club:
"What is the meaning of this?" Wednesday Addams snaps, storming into the photography room holding a piece of paper. Wednesday was dressed in pure black, as usual, with her hair in twin pigtails. Wednesday was infamous among the club for being hard to work with. Whenever they planned an event, she wouldn't show up. Whenever she was given an assignment, Wednesday would do the opposite. She would often stay in her own corner, often ignoring anyone who would come to talk to her. "You're kicking me out?" Wednesday asks, walking up to the head of the club, Bianca.
Bianca sighs and looks at her friend sadly. She is probably one of the few who can call Wednesday a "friend." The two had a rough start, literally fighting each other in fencing class, and drawing blood, but the two eventually found common ground. They aren't super close, as Wednesday doesn't let anyone close, but they were still friends. Bianca doesn't want to kick Wednesday out, as she is probably the best photographer in the club, but the rest of the club insisted. "Yes," Bianca says. "I'm sorry Addams, but the rest of the club voted."
"You can't do this," Wednesday says. "I am the best photographer in this club. And you are going to kick me out because I won't go to photograph a fucking park? How is that fair?"
"This is a club Wednesday," Bianca says, trying to get through to Wednesday. "We have to do stuff together, per school rules. You actively endanger our position by refusing to do stuff. Plus, you creep out the other members with your behavior and choice of photographs."
"My taste is a bit dark," Wednesday snaps offended. "So, what?"
"You photographed a dead bird," Bianca says. "You photographed a kid with a cut on their eye. Do I need to go on?" Bianca sighs and tries to calm down. "I'm sorry it's out of my hands."
"What if I participate in this today's event?" Wednesday says, shocking Bianca into silence. "I will do it. I will participate in the cheerleaders and cars photoshoot. And I will make the best photographs this club has ever seen. If I succeed, will you hold another vote?" Wednesday asks, a hint of desperation entering her voice. Despite her tough act. Wednesday didn't want to get kicked out of this club. It's the only place in school where she can take her pictures without getting into trouble. "Please," Wednesday forces herself to say, shocking Bianca, who has never heard Wednesday say please before.
"Fine," Bianca says, nodding. "If you can come up with a cheerleader and car in two hours, I will let you take part in the event. But, if you can't, you are out period. Deal?" Bianca asks, holding her hand out. Wednesday thinks for a second and then nods, shaking Bianca's hand. "Good luck," Bianca says sincerely. "I am rooting for you Addams."
"I will prove your faith right and all my dissenters wrong. They will regret ever questioning me," Wednesday says, leaving the room. Bianca stands there, shaking her head, smiling. She knows that if anyone can do this, it's Wednesday Addams.
Nevermore High School, Automotive Class
"No," Tyler says, shaking his head and walking past Wednesday, who stood there in front of his car. Tyler couldn't believe that Wednesday would even ask him this. They used to date but broke up due to Wednesday's inability to open up. Plus, she is still carrying a torch for a certain cheerleader, though he knows Wednesday would never admit that. It's not like they were on bad terms either, as they were still talking. No, what shocks him the most is that she would request the most important thing that belongs to him. "You cannot borrow my car."
"Why not?" Wednesday asks, not seeing the problem. "It's only for a few hours," Wednesday says. "I will bring it back right after the shoot."
"You know very well that I don't let anyone touch my car, let alone borrow it," Tyler says, as he goes through his toolbox to get what he needs for his next assignment. "It was a gift from my mom before she died. I can't risk anything happening to it. Not even for a friend." Tyler heads over to the engine block his teacher provided to work on and begins fixing it.
"Please," Wednesday says, following Tyler. "You know how much photography means to me. I know we are no longer courting each other," Tyler snorts at that. He finds it a funny way to say that they broke up. A very Wednesday way of saying that. Wednesday grabs his hands, stopping Tyler from working. Tyler looks into her eyes and sees that she is sincere in her fear of losing the one place she can do her favorite hobby. "I promise to you on my pet scorpion, Nero's grave, I will return your car in one piece."
Tyler sighs and reaches into his pocket. "Here," Tyler says, holding out his keys. "But if you get even a scratch on her, I am never talking to you again."
"I won't fail you," Wednesday says and takes the keys. Now all she needs is a cheerleader. She could ask Parker, but she was home sick. She could ask Joel, another ex of hers, but he would probably spend it trying to win her back. She could ask Yoko, but Yoko hated her. That really only left one option. One that Wednesday dreaded. "Do you know where Sinclair is right now?"
Nevermore High School, Southeast Hallway
Enid Sinclair has everything. She is the most popular girl in school, head cheerleader, and is dating the quarterback, Ajax. However, beneath all of her smiles and pep, Enid is secretly lonely. She feels empty even with her friends and fans. She longed to be the real her. You see her relationship with Ajax is a cover. They are both gay and don't want anyone to know, so they agreed to help each other by being the others cover. Ajax is secretly dating the local bad boy, Bruno, but Enid had no legit romance. Not that she doesn't want one. She has gone on plenty of dates, but none of them ever worked out. Mainly, because none of them were her. Wednesday Addams, Enid's secret crush.
Sadly, though, Enid is reasonably sure that Wednesday hates her. Though, she isn't sure why. From the first time they talked, Wednesday declared Enid her "arch enemy" and had made it her mission to never talk to Enid ever again. The few times Enid has tried; it always ended with Wednesday insulting her or threatening her. Just last week, Enid had offered to help Wednesday with her homework and Wednesday had threatened to shave Enid if she ever so much looked at her paper.
"Sinclair," Enid hears a familiar voice asks. Enid is putting her stuff in her locker but pauses. She looks out from behind her locker door and there stands Wednesday Addams. Her face serious, her usual frown making Enid's knees weak. "We need to talk," Wednesday says, irritation in her voice.
"Wednesday," Enid says, her voice breathless without her consent. Enid's eyes widen and her face flushes at the involuntary vocal change. She coughs, trying to play it as if something was wrong with her throat. "I mean, Wednesday," Enid says, her voice now normal as she leans against the locker trying to play it cool. "How are you doing? Lovely weather, huh?" Enid curses herself. 'The weather?' Enid chastises herself in her head. 'You seriously just asked Wednesday Addams about the weather.'
"The weather is horrible," Wednesday says dismissively. "Too much sun and fresh air. Where is some good smog, when you need it?"
"Oh yeah," Enid says, unsure how to respond. "I hate the sun too. And don't even get me started on those horrible birds chirping happily. Awful. Like stop being all happy and cute. It makes me want to pet you."
"I am not here to talk about the awful weather," Wednesday snaps, annoyed. "I am here to ask a favor." Wednesday then whispers something that Enid couldn't understand.
"What was that?" Enid asks, confused.
"I need you to be my model for the latest photography club event," Wednesday snaps, louder.
"Me? Model? For you?" Enid asks, her brain short-circuiting with images of her pulling all kinds of sexy poses as Wednesday photographs her. "Yes!" Enid says way too enthusiastically. She coughs again and tries to appear nonchalantly. "I mean, sure."
"Okay let's go," Wednesday says, grabbing Enid and dragging her towards the parking lot. "We only have 10 minutes." Enid follows Wednesday with a stupid grin on her face.
