Bokkun was always a little bit of an optimist to contrast his peers. Believe it or not, he believed he could solve many issues he didn't truly understand the scope of. He was Eggman's creation, how could he mess up? How could he do wrong?
There wasn't much he wasn't confident he could do, people relied on him- Eggman, Decoe, Bocoe, there wasn't much the little robot couldn't find a way around.
Yet now, looking at the face of danger and feeling its breath fanning against his only slightly deterred face was certainly making him doubt his ability.
Eating was rare these days. His creator had failed- bad. He lost the other two, his friends and coworkers. Things weren't looking good, not even from the position he'd found himself in.
He could see everything from up here, the city and the giant field of flowers right next to it. It was breathtaking. The wind was heavy, his loose t-shirt billowing in the wind, a feeling and sound his sensitive motion receptors didn't appreciate.
He didn't consider himself much of an acrophobe until now.
Despite the occasion, he beared his jetpack as though it was a day like no other, perhaps to some it would look like he was about to go out and deliver a message.
But he had different plans.
He was a simple minded robot, there wasn't much he wasn't confident in his ability to do, including the occasional unasked favour he knew his creator would appreciate even if he never voiced his praises.
They were low on supplies; a little trip out by himself wouldn't be an issue, he knew his way around, and this was his usual route. Yet the jetpack felt more like a harsh weight rather than a familiar comforting one. See, he struggled to fly when he was hungry. When he simulated hunger in his mechanic body, he grew weaker and had trouble keeping up with the attention flying demanded from him.
And with the harsh winds things weren't looking the best.
But he knew this was just another calculated risk he had to take.
There wasn't much he wasn't confident in. He could take this on as easy as any other problem he'd taken on in the past, whether it be that pesky hedgehog or that annoying Chao that would occasionally follow him. He was confident in his ability to deal with this.
He just had to fly down to the field of flowers and walk the rest of the way to the city. It was a steep cliff, one he couldn't simply climb or jump down from.
He just had to get it over with.
It'll be just like every other time.
It's too late to turn back now, he had to commit to this. A step forward, then another, and finally, he jumped.
...Ah, ah-ha! He was flying! He knew he placed his confidence properly, there wasn't much the little robot couldn't achieve.
Now all he had to do-
His eyes widened as his thoughts were cut off with a familiar sound of the internal workings of his beloved and beloathed jetpack sputtering.
Uh oh.
Was it too late to grab onto something? Too late to turn back? Was it too late
Picking flowers with her best friend was a rewarding experience for the young rabbit.
She got stressed and overwhelmed rather easily, but you can't blame her. She had a lot of responsibility for her age. Amy told her she deserved to relax.
She carefully plopped down onto her knees, straightening her dress out to act as a seat for her Chao friend Cheese. The strong winds were calming to her, it felt like the harsh noise soothed the running thoughts she usually was met with when she was out on her own with Cheese.
The flowing of the flowers around her was truly beautiful. She wanted Cheese to see the same beauty she saw, and when she looked up to motion to the surroundings she was met with... Him staring off into the distance?
It was unusual for the Chao, usually he was all for their little outings- just the two of them spending time together, likely paying more attention to their surroundings than Cream herself. She was surprised HE hadn't motioned to the scene first.
She tilted her head, opening her mouth to speak and question the odd behavior before the Chao suddenly let out an alarmed and very out of character screech.
What came next was somewhat of a blur, but she remembered hearing a sickening 'CRASH' followed by a strange cracking noise that echoed through the plane around her, something had fallen against the ground a few miles away, loud enough to make her wince and cover her ears, sensitive hearing and all.
When she opened her eyes to look at where the unusual and frightening noise came from she immediately noticed the large amount of smoke that hadn't been there before and what appeared to be a fire slowly picking up.
So much for relaxing.
She didn't have time to wallow in self pity, nor did she want to, her legs were moving faster than she thinks they ever had- rivaling whenever Sonic first saved her from that facility. heese accompanied her quick and panicked steps with faster-than-average flying of his own.
Cream stopped dead in her tracks as she finally saw what had fallen, still stood a good bit away for her own safety. Cheese's stubby hands were covering his mouth and Cream had to hold her arm protectively above her face to shield herself from the ever growing smoke.
Her eyes widened in horror at the sight, Eggman's messenger whom she hadn't seen recently, but hadn't thought much of at the time- laying there motionless and clearly very broken, she'd seen many crushed and mangled robots but never like... this.
At least never one that resembled a person so much.
Well, it didn't resemble much of anything anymore.
Some part of her felt sick at the sight, it was almost like looking at a dead body- she wanted to cry or to scream. Cheese seemed to feel similarly, he and the messenger even had history according to what Cream had heard.
She had to find Tails immediately. This could be fixed… Right?
Cream wasn't a confident girl, but she knew that right now she held a lot of responsibility. Responsibility she didn't understand, but one she needed to carry out.
With tears in her eyes she found herself practically sprinting through the field of flowers that had once brought her joy and serenity, but now were a constant reminder of what was currently laid upon the ground she walked on.
