Caesar rubbed at his bleary eyes, the world slowly coming back into focus. The last thing he’d remembered was drinking a mug of hot tea to calm his nerves about their upcoming battle-- Wait. Where was he?
Violently looking this way and that, Caesar’s senses went on alert. Had he been kidnapped?
“Now, don’t be mad…”
“Joseph?” Caesar blinked as a figure emerged from the outside, coming into the tent from an open flap.
“I may have asked Lisa to help me make sure neither of us fought today.” Joseph looked, for all his credit, incredibly sheepish at his own actions, avoiding making direct eye contact with Caesar.
“You did what?” Slowly, eyes narrowing, Caesar focuses on the other man with growing irritation. Of course he would pull a stunt like this. He was so damn paranoid.
“I had a really bad feeling, Cae! I didn’t…it didn’t feel safe for us. So I might have slipped valerian root into your tea…”
“Idiota!” Caesar hisses, smacking his hand against his forehead and groaning in uncontrollable frustration. “Were you trying to induce a coma?”
Joseph looks even more scolded now, his own head lowering with what almost looks like a pout. “No. I didn’t think it would be that bad, just…wanted to take you far away.”
Caesar inhales, holds his breath, counts to ten very very slowly. He wasn’t mad at Joseph for being this worried, not really. He knows the other man showed his care in strange ways, and a part of him is touched, but he’s mildly annoyed to be-- what seems like-- in the middle of nowhere.
He glances around, trying to let the scenery take his mind off of everything else. Joseph had clearly pitched them a tent. There were a few bags of food they could easily cook, though, whether it was palatable was to be determined.
A side glance shows that they’d been laying on sleeping bags, with Joseph’s a close but respectable distance from Caesar’s own. Camping. Joseph had kidnapped him to go camping, rather than face their biggest villain yet.
He finally exhales, regarding Joseph who looks for all intents and purposes like a kicked puppy. “I’m incensed that you had the gall to kidnap me, Joseph Joestar, but…” the corner of his mouth does finally quirk into a soft grin.
“Somehow this is so incredibly you that I can’t stay mad.”
Joseph finally uncurls from his scolded crunch, smiling broadly. “See? It’ll be fun! We can sit and talk and eat snacks and just enjoy the peace for once!” He declares, already taking the reaction as a sign he can slide up closer.
He peers into Caesar’s face, curiously, eyes still bright and shiny. “I always wanted to go somewhere with you, so this was a nice excuse.”
Caesar melts, because of course he does, and shakes his head with a laugh. “That’s all fine and dandy, but if you ever drug my tea again, there will be hell to pay.”
Joseph grins, nods, looks away for a moment as if he’s thinking about changing his mind on something, and then, he comes back to place a brief peck right onto Caesar’s cheek. He flushes at the action himself. “I promise.”
With a scoff of bewilderment, and his own cheeks going a little rosy, Caesar smiles. “What am I going to do with you?”
“Enjoy the impromptu camping trip!” Joseph just laughs, answering the rhetorical question anyways.
