Chapter Text

It was a beautiful, sunny afternoon. The cold had just recently begun to set in, still providing a perfect time to head out with friends and family for dinner or a simple walk, before retreating indoors for the night. Made it all the better as the sun still shined bright in the sky, only now settling down, creating a vibrant series of colors such as orange, pink, and blue to all dance together in the sky. It should of been a nice afternoon really, and for many maybe it was. Not for Asa though, for she was far less concerned with something as pointless as the colors in the sky. For on the ground, knelling in the rubble of her own making. Stood a lonely woman with a chainsaw on her head, holding the cold body of a man she used to know.

The corpse had died with a smile on it's face. Paired with a look so carefree, and relaxed, that had Asa seen it, she would have thought that it was the happiest she had ever seen it. Even happier then when it took Power and her out to that local aquarium. It was a nice day looking back at it, one spent with most of it talking to Asa about echinoderms of all things, and even show a rare laugh, as Power tried to break into the penguinarium to steal the penguins.

However, Asa would never know what it looked like. She just couldn't dare take a look into the now transformed, and mutilated face of the same man. Who for the past nine months, had taken her in, cared and provided for not just her, but also her roommate. The same man who would tolerate listening to her never-ending rants on society, the same man who always prepared her food, the same man who tried in vain to teach her how to cook, the same man who was there for her after she left, the same man who took them all to his family grave in Hokkaido, and the same man Asa slaughtered this day. As the young hybrid, plunged her chainsaw into the chest of the closest thing to a brother she had ever had. For the entire action, the young girl didn’t dare open her eyes, and didn't dare to make a single sound, as she tore and ripped through his chest. The only thing she did do, as her knees collapsed like rock onto the ruined street, and chainsaw's melted away to show a face of pure emptiness. Was with all of her strength, wrapped her arms tight around the corpse, and pressed her face into it's cold, cold chest. For it was the only thing she could do, as she was forced to say goodbye to yet another family member.

It felt like it could of been minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, or years that hybrid sat their in the rubble of her home, frozen on the spot holding the corpse, and none of it mattered in the slightest to her. The only thing that garnered her attention during this, was the shaking, terrified blond fiend. Who had dragged her away from the corpse with little resistance, and held Asa tight in her arms. Not once, in the entire afternoon, did the fiend ever let her go. Even in the face of an arriving Makima, Power, who would of chewed off her own hand, and run off to the hills, from even a mere mention of Makima. Had stood firmly, if slightly shaking, by Asa’s side the entire time during the entire interview, one conducted in a little makeshift, opened, tent.

Not that it mattered much to Asa, As all that the Public Safety division leader found upon her arrival at the scene was just a broken, shaking shell of a devil, holding on with dear life to the only family she had left in the world. One who couldn't even lift her eyes from the floor to look at her boss. Like all of her confidence, her pride, her desire for praise and validation from Makima, her curiosity, everything that had been built up in the past year, had all been drained from her. Like a doll, cut from it's strings and lay down motionless on the cold floor. The only thing Asa did was just mumble responses in a dead tone to whatever question's asked of her. Her head never once raising to meet the stare of the agents.

That beautiful dance of orange's and blue colors had finally dimmed into sky, replaced by a soulless black, as the sun had set by the time Makima, and her agents were satisfied with the report. As the remaining agents dispersed into the night, and Makima finished putting on her long, black coat. The division leader took a long moment to simply look at the ruins left behind, her face marked with a neutral, if slightly downcast, expression. Before turning back, and moving towards the two devils still sat. A move that Asa could feel, startled the fiend. As she felt Power's grip on her tighten, and her body begin to shake.

“I'm glad you listened to me,” The redhead spoke, with that same gentle and soft tone she always sung. As she placed two delicate fingers to Asa's chin, and lifted up her head to look her straight in the eyes.

For the first time since starting the interview, Asa had a good look at her boss. Unlike the hybrid's devastated appearance, with her ripped paints, and scared bared chest. Makima as always looked completely fine, like all of this was just another day at the job. Not a single scratch, or tear in her usual Public Safety outfit. Not even a single hair out of place on her head. Makima's brown-no black-no, yellow (?) eyes stared deeply into Asa’s own. With a type of gentleness and warmth that reminded her of a mom that had long since passed. As the older woman lend in close to the young teen's face, and raised a finger to gently brushing back a lone, lose strain of dark hair, behind the teen's left ear.

“I need you to know just how proud I am of you," A little smile rose on her face, as she caressed her thumb against Asa's cheek. "you did the right thing, Mitaka.” With one last look, Makima effortlessly stood up, and left behind the two now orphaned devils alone, in the ruins of what used to be their home. One that the two quietly sat at, while simple holding on to one another as the sun finally dimmed on what could've been a good day. Truthfully, Asa couldn't tell how long they sat together in those ruins before that old man, face marred by a scar, came and took the two back to HQ. Nor could she fully say what really happened those following days after. For the only real thought she could recalled of that time, were those 6 little words all, but screaming at her in her head.

You did the right thing, Mitaka.

The following days after the Gun devil incident, his will was read out. The document had left his killer Asa Mitaka as Hawakaya's heir, leaving her with half of the insurance money that the corpse had saved up over the course of its life. With the remaining half given out to the family of the late Himeno. A family who would even sent the young teen a little letter, one she never dared to open.

With the new blood money, the two devils choose to purchase a new room at a nearby apartment complex. One that close to Public Safety HQ that was owned by a company called,“Tatsuki Aparments”. Which, if Asa cared in the slightest, she would of thought that it sounded like a stupid, dull name. Although it was a name that did fit the run down apartment complex, one that was littered with trash, broken down stairs, and that same old judgmental stare of her new neighbor's. Not that Asa really cared, if anything it made her a tad nostalgic of a simpler time, where she lived in a run down apartment with a tiny orange devil at her side.

At least her new apartment room clean compared to the outside. It was small, but comfortable for the two devils. It had a working kitchen, a tv that was generously already installed, all the necessary furniture such as chairs and couches, and a fully working bathroom! (That was about to die a horrific death by Power.) Even had two bedrooms that the two could split. It was for the best that Power and Asa didn’t share a room for now. The fiend was finally over her constant fear of the darkness devil, and really should get use to sleeping alone again. It's better that Asa has her alone time. After all, she did just have a really intense battle and honestly she just needed some time right now to rest up!

However, for some odd reason, the fiend just refused Asa’s very well reasoned, and well thought-out request to just stay in her room for most of the day. The entire day, despite Asa's well meaning whines request to just stay inside, the two ventured out in the city. The fiend, rejuvenated with sheer delight at what she thought was her endless source of money. Took her poor victim around on a complete spending spree. Buying any and all junk, and cat food that money could possibly buy. While Asa tried to use this as a chance to buy what Power needed, new clothes, actual food that wasn't just sweets, and a cat bed for Meowy. Only for Power though, she didn't need anything for herself truly. See, Asa pretty low-maintenance after all. It didn't matter what she needed, all that mattered was that Power was okay, and actually had food to eat. It was all fine, really.

Power had all, but dragged Asa around the snowy street of Tokyo. Shouting and laughing with all the enthusiasm she could muster at the awful people of Tokyo. Turning behind with a wide smile to glance at Asa's reaction each and every time. Really, Asa couldn't blame her attempts, it was one of their favorite hobbies to do together in a long gone past. Back when they first started to actually talk with each other following the days after saving her cat. Patrolling around a local park, had Asa almost puked from being forced to see all these people disgustingly make-out everywhere she turned! It was gross, unhygenic, and it was in a public place! And okay sure maybe Asa might have said some little things....

Like she hoped they dropped dead-

Of course she didn't mean it literally... and she certainly didn’t mean to say it out loud! But, of course the fiend had heard her. That monster always had such keened hearing. But, thinking back to it, Asa always found it odd how for the first time since they met. She had actually started laughing at something she said, and not at her! She found her funny! So logically, Asa continued saying those comments out loud... It was only due to the fact that Power was an incredibility dangerous and deadly fiend! In entertaining her, she was keeping the fiend distracted, thus saving all of those poor, innocent, bystanders!

....

Okay, yes they did end up not only got kicked out of that park, but also banned for life after Power started screaming a bunch of insults at a group of 5 year old children.

But... For the first time since Pochita became her heart..

Asa had fun

...

Although now all the young hybrid could do was just try and placate her buddy. She tried to laugh with her, tried to join in on her jokes, and tried with all of her might to be present with her. It wasn't anything really, she just wasn’t feeling in the mood, that’s all. Her body had been feeling like it was on auto-pilot the whole time, just going through the motions. It all just nothing, she's just tired, and frankely she needs to actually grow up, be an adult, and move on. She shouldn't even be feeling like this.. after all,

She did the right thing.

As the days passed in a blur, spent watching a seemingly endless amount of tv commercials and channels in a pitch black apartment, surrounded by the remains of past takeout or frozen dinners. A lone letter arrived to put a halt to Asa's newly created routine. In all honestly, Asa didn't know why it mattered at all. It was just a simple letter detailing her about a funeral service, asking her to waste an entire after noon of her life, to just stand around and watch as yet another grave was placed to join one of the thousands in an endless grave yard. The body probably wasn't even there. It all just a pointless, complete and total waste of her time. In fact, she's just going to put it back in it's envelope and pretend she never even saw it in the first place-

Asa went out to the nearest stores for the appropriate outfits for the funeral, finding herself a nice cute black suit for herself and a black dress for Power. It all felt....great! For the first time in days, she felt some type of drive! Feeling a rush of energy at preparing, organizing, planning head, it was almost addicting for her. Asa felt like she was running around like headless chicken trying her absolute best to prepare for this pointless funeral. Because... this wasn't just about her. She need to be their for Power, even if she didn't understand it one bit, even if she didn't see any value or point in it. She had to do this, it was the right thing to do! Heck, the hybrid even showered for the first time in days!

And wow did it feel so nice to actually take a proper, 4 minutes and 35 seconds on the dot, warm shower. Turns out that having really greasy hair for 8 days was just not fun at all, who would of thought! It nice too, it felt so so nice to be warm. For the past couple of days, it had been so, so cold not only on the outside, but thanks to the apartment's failing boiler, inside as well. But here, standing in her tiny, almost cramped, bathroom. The cold was replaced by an oh so nice warmth, one that surrounded her on all sides. The steam of the water reminded her a bit of her first home. Back when mom and her would sit all toasty together near their heater watching a silly, stupid movie. All while holding their hot tea, one that If little Asa looked closed enough, she could see a tiny bit of steam coming off of it. It was just nice...even reminded her a bit of a bygone summer spent in the hot countryside...

Shame it couldn't wash the blood off her hands.

Exiting the shower, she made sure her hair was presentable. Taking the time to brush out all those built up knots that had taken root, and after trying to for 5 seconds on a new hairstyle, just decided to wrap it all up in a cute, double ponytail. One that looking into the mirror, she thought was cute! Okay, sureeee her hair was still all, but dripping wet, her eyes looked shot that were paired with long, dark eyebags, and maybeeee she looked more like a pale vampire that would burned to a crisp if she walked outside. But hey! She was still pretty darn cute! And all of this was only due to how hard she was working before! Besides it's nothing that a bit of makeup can't fix!

...

...

crap... I-I never bought makeup did I.... Okay! It fine, its fine, its fine, its fine-

After spending a considerable amount of time, most of which was possibly spent screaming in her head, and the rest spent putting on a nice black suit. Asa prepared herself for the true herculean task of the day.

Getting Power ready....

Listen, Power had come a long, long, long, long, long, long way since she first broke the front door of Hawakaya apartment. It took her AGES to just flush the toilet, and not shove everything known to man into said toilet. Such as, Asa's comb, Asa's blanket, Asa's pillow, Asa's makeup, Asa's syringes, Asa's estrogen, and so much more. It took her ages to stop that, and even more for her to slowly learn how to actually use soap (and not eat it), and not destroy the toilet with a blood hammer, cause 'IT SCREAMED AT ME'. Sure, Power faced a rough patch after their little trip to hell, one that sent her back to square one and had her attached to her hip. After a long while, and a weird episode where she forced her to drink her blood.. forcing her to drink her blood. Power had made a full recovery and could finally take baths by herself without the hybrid constantly watching her like a hawk. So with a quick wave and a closed door, Asa had felt confident that the fiend could not only take a bath, but also put on her dress by herself. So she waited on the couch, silently waiting for the fiend to get ready  .....and waited....and waited....and waited.....and waited....and-

Hold on what time is it-

ITS BEEN AN ENTIRE HOUR??!??! HUH?????

WHAT??

HOW???

What in the world could she be doing in there- OH WAIT A SECOND, THE WATER BILL!! NOOOOO!!

Standing up, Asa all but ran to the bathroom door. However, just as she was about to start pounding with a level of intensity served only when one knew that at this rate, they did NOT have the money to pay for next months water bill. The door had been kicked wide opened, to reveal an all but glowing Power, as she walked out into the apartment with sheer pride of her suit.

"BAHAHHAHAHAHA, Asa! look, look!! I have found, created, and produced this wonderful and popular, and brilliant, and the most stylish doublet in the world!!" The fiend placed both of her hands on her hip. "The sheer wonder and glory of this doublet from itself will surely earn me not only a trillion United States dollars and yen, but also one-no-TWO noble peace prizes for it!!  Don't you agree, Asa?"

...

The dress was on backwards

...

and it was completely wet

...

and there was toilet paper all over it

...

After spending an entire hour spent rushing to throw Power's dress into the nearby dryer. Which, yes this is exactly why Asa always makes sure she plans to get ready 2 hours before any event with the fiend. The dress was finally nice and dry, and sure maybe she did manhandle Power a little, but there was no way in hell that Asa was going to let Power mess this dress up again! That thing was a couple 70 thousand Yen! After another 30 minutes of constant yelling and screaming from the fiend over complaining how she's nor 'putting it on right and in fact the pants should be put on, head down',

Asa had accomplished what most had deemed impossible. She had actually made Power look....... somewhat presentable! Minus the horns of course. They were finally all ready to go with plenty of time left to relax-

Standing there, right in the middle of the room. Was the blond haired fiend, practically rubbing her white, cat all over her black dress in a tight embrace. Where all Asa could do was watch in absolute horror, as nearly 2 entire hours of her life was wasted in a mere 5 seconds.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

"POWER WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU. I SPENT AN ENTIRE TWO HOURS CLEANING THAT SUIT?!?" The hybrid screamed, with such an intensity that had she cared in the slightest, would've made her anxious that the neighbors heard her.

Asa's scream had startled the fiend, causing her to jump just a little and her eyes to shoot open. "HUH, WHY ARE YOU YELLING?? MEOWY NEEDED A HUG"

"I...." Does any of this really matter in the first place, Mitaka? "It's nothing... Sorry Power lets just go..."

With a quick sigh, Asa turned and left, walking outside her apartment door. One that was watched closely behind her, by the golden, cross haired eyes of a rather confused, perplexed fiend.

The paired stood outside their apartment, Power resting against the rails, while Asa took the chance to sit down on a spare seat. Siting outside, waiting for their ride. Asa took the chance to try and distract her mind by staring into the bright, blue horizon sky. To be honest, the view wasn't the worst she had seen. Sure, it was nothing compared to the one back in Public Safety HQ, where Asa felt like she could see the entire city from way up in the clouds, or even his apartment, which granted her a nice view of the sun rising and falling over the Tokyo sky. But this view wasn't the worst, at least it wasn't underneath a crumbling bridge, or blocked by a tsunami of concrete buildings. At least she had a good view of the open sky.

Unfortunately, no matter how much Asa tried to distract herself, she couldn't help deny that awful, strange sense of dread that filled her body upon seeing the car pull up. All of It didn’t make any sense at all. Asa was completely fine! She had prepared long in advance to make sure everything was done on time in order to not rush, Power was dressed (with only a few cat hairs still clinging onto her suit). Asa was fully prepared, bought jackets in case it got too cold, and even bought water with her in case they got thirsty! It was probably due to the number of people expected to be there. Honestly even after all of these years, Asa still hasn't fully cracked the secret code of talking with people without making yourself stand out like a weird alien from outer space. That seemingly everyone in the entire world knew besides her ... .and maybe Power. Who in a rare expression, looked a bit apprehensive upon seeing the car as well, as she tapped the railing in a repeated, almost fidgety, rhythm.

She was fine, everything is fine.

That's what she kept on repeating to herself as stood up from her chair, it's what she repeated as she walked down those creaking apartment stairs, and it what she told herself as she entered the escort car. Power had taken the left side instantly, and rather dramatically if you asked Asa, let out a loud yawn and fell straight asleep. With a twist of the driver’s keys, the car's engine roared to life and the journey to the graveyard began. In all honesty it was a short trip, the graveyard being only a good hour away from their apartment. Those endless skyscrapers that had loomed over the city, had been replaced by small, almost identical little buildings, some ruined down into the ground, or some still standing, before it all gave way to am endless grassfield of green.

A sight that gave the young hybrid an almost pitiful sense of nostalgia, as she remembered oh so long ago when she ran out into the outskirts of Tokyo. On a almost mad quest to get as far away as she could from that cursed orphanage. A journey that took her through endless buildings, alleyways, fields, and forests, before ending up spotting an injured devil, bleeding out right underneath a tree next a familiar river.

It was of her friend that she thought of, looking through the window of the car. Where like so many times in her life, an awful and cursed thought pushed it's way through Asa's mind.

If i knew what would happen... would I still give Pochita my blood?

....

No... What a stupid question to even ask. Without a single doubt in her mind she would do it all over again, if only to have her friend back even if it was for just a short while. Even after all this time she still missed that orange fuzzy fur ball of a devil with all of her heart.

If he was still alive If Pochita was still in his cute devil form instead of her heart, the young girl could just hold him in a soft warm hug. Gently pet his adorable little head and talk all day long about everything that has happened. Maybe she would even read one of her new poems she wrote! Yeah he would love that. Of course he would love that.

Right?

T-the little guy always just loved listening to them, his little chainsaw would always purr to life when he learned that Asa was going to read him a new poem. Although maybe this time, she would just listen to his soft purrs and fall asleep holding her oldest friend. He was always so warm, even in that freezing tiny apartment she never once felt cold when she was with him. Potchia would know what to do right now, he would have helped Asa sort through her mess of a head. But he isn't here, not really. Now all that's left of him was a voiceless heart beating like a drum in Asa’s chest. For as green field turned into an endless sea of white crosses, there was no one to help stop the young girl's mind from hysterically racing with worry and dread and panic and-

Asa...

The car had, in what felt like an instant, turned almost boilingly hot, like a long summer day out in the sun. That made Asa want to just jump out of the car and-

Hey, hey this is fine Asa. We’re only going to be there for an hour, maybe two hours max!

Sweat had begun to build up on her forehead, with small drops of sweat even falling down her face as her hands felt more and more clammy by the minute. And her chest felt like it was being constructed by a rope cause she could barely breath- B-but that was only because it was a bit hot in the car. No worries!

We’re been here before Asa. Sure it wasn't the best time, Master was pretty rough with us, but listen we know this place. Master's going to be there with you, he’ll say some words and then we’re off. The only real challenge will be stopping Power from eating any offerings left at the graves!

It felt hot, and it felt awful, and her hands had started shaking for some reason so she just needed to hold on to something, anything to keep her focus. So logically, she chose to grab hold of her nice, new pants that she had taken so long to prepare. As if grabbing it could anchor her from confronting the realities of what was outside the car door and acknowledging the fact that he is there-

Listen, Powers going to be there with you, she won't leave you.

The graveyard grew closer and closer, his grave grew closer.

It's just a normal graveyard, Asa. This is fine, everything is fine! Stop worrying over nothing, this is below you. You're an adult now, and you have to actually grow up. This is just a normal graveyard, nothing more and nothing less..

The car pulled to a stop. If Asa was paying any attention she would have heard Power let out a loud yawn, stretching her arms out as far as she could as she woke up from her lazy nap. But by that point all sense of the outside world had stopped for her, with every second the hybrid world grew narrower and narrower as she enclosed herself from it. The young girl simply stared at the floor of the car with an intense stare as she wrapped her arms around herself. She couldn't look at the window, she couldn't look at the graves.

Because..

Because...

This wasn’t just any graveyard anymore. He was in it now.

Asa was just frozen like this, not moving a single muscle as she sat in the car seat. It was stupid, it was dumb, Asa wasn't ignorant of this matter. She knew that she should just grow up, leave the car, and stop being such a baby. but no matter how much Asa tried to convince herself to move she just couldn’t. She could barely speak, couldn’t move, couldn’t even feel Power’s protective embrace. Her mind was nothing more then a static mess. If she could hear anything besides a faint ringing in her ears, she would’ve heard sounds of an enraged Power, screaming with all her might at anyone who tried to come close to her. If she could pay any attention, she would have noticed a small crowd of people gathering around the vehicle and a murder of crow, all parched on a couple of the white crosses, all staring right at her. She didn't even notice the stare of a red headed woman's soft frown, looking at her from the back of the crowd.

After 10 minutes- no, 20- 30?- minutes the car eventually drove off with the pair still inside. It doesn't matter because someone, maybe Master, told the driver to leave and just go back. As the sea of endless white crosses gave way to green fields, as the site of her victim grave grew further and further away. Asa slowly, at almost a snail's pace, unlocked herself from her legs and slowly sat straight up, though her eyes refused to leave the ground. She just felt...nothing?

No that was wrong.

She could feel Power's soft embrace by her side, still holding on after all this time. Which was odd because everything was fine, she just wasn't feeling like going to a stupid social event. Why is she making such a big deal out of this? Granted Asa did feel pretty tired. Which was odd because she made sure she got the proper 8 hours of rest that humans and hybrids needed the night before. So why was she feeling so tired?

The long and silent drive had finally came to it's conclusion as the car finally arrived back at their apartment block. One that ended with Power all, but dragging the hybrid out of the car in rage and screaming at the driver as he drove away into the Tokyo street. The fiend never once letting go of her bone-crushing grip on Asa's hand as they ventured back to their room. By this time, the once vibrant blue sky had once again turned into a series of warm orange and blues, as the sun had started to set in the sky. A scene that Asa quickly turned away from, in favor of staring into the nice, familiar, and non-threatening concrete floor, as her chest had once again strangely begun to tighten.

As the fiend had a;; but dragged Asa back into the safety of their apartment and closed the door behind them. Power had, with a tired sigh, turned to fully look at her buddy.

“.....Asa...?” Power softly spoke, with a level of calm like one would talk to a frightened animal.

everything is fine, everything is fine, everything is fine, everything is fine, everything is fine, everyth-

"yeah...? What is it Power?” Asa mumbled out, as she made the herculean effort to raise her head in order to somewhat make eye contact with her. For the first time in what must of been an hour, Asa was able to properly get a good looked of her. That almost constantly happy expression she wore had gone downcast, her eye bags had become more prominent. and she was biting her lower lip in a nervous tick.

Huh, why does she look so tired? Did Power not get enough sleep last night too?

“That graveyard.. “ the fiend paused for a moment, looking deep in thought of her words. “I…I investigated it myself before the funeral. It held no real prospects for us, no mighty offering of any sort fit for the likes of us. Y-you did the right thing....it-it was good Asa t-that we didn’t go.” Power’s lips were trembling as spoked like a leaf in the wind, as her warm, golden cross-haired eyes begun building up with unshed tears. Honestly, she looked similar to before, back when she was so scared of even her shadow, like a little kid.

Before moving in close and wrapping her arms around the hybrid's neck, pressing her face in Asa's neck in a full on hug. Almost like Asa was an anchor, keeping her from floating away in this world.

“It just was a dumb thing anyway..”

You did the right thing.

You did the right thing.

you did the right thing.

You did the right thing.

“Okay, Power. I'm gonna go to bed now, there should be a bit of leftovers in the fridge." Came a monotone, dead sound from Asa. One so unlike her own, that the fiend briefly question if it was really even her. With a quick motion, Asa firmly took both of Powers hands, and released herself from the fiends hug. For a brief moment, Power could see her face. Her head titled slightly downwards, and her mouth was slightly agape, though what truly caught the startled fiend by surprised was how her usual, dark blue and brown eyes had dimmed into an almost void like black, one that nearly filled her eyes.

"Bye." With a final statement and stare, the fiend turned around, and walked back to her room in a quick pace. Never once daring to look behind her, and back at the fiend. Didn't dare look back, not for one single moment as she slammed the door behind her, hard.

Okay It's a bit mean to leave Power all alone and maybe she was being a bit rough with her. but she's just so tired right now and it's more important she catches up on her sleep. Besides Power is going to be fine by herself for a bit, there's some food in the fridge that she can heat up and maybe even watch some movies with Meowy.

Due to just how cold it was in the apartment, Asa's hand had begun to shake with such a force she could barely unbutton her suit.

This is fine Pochita, I'm fine, Power's fine, everything is fine.

Honestly she was just wasting her time trying to even take off her suit. She was tired, and it wasn't like anyone was watching her. So who cares if she crawled into bed wearing a half put on suit. It doesn't matter at all in the slightest. Maybe now, wrapping herself in a cocoon of blankets. She can finally get some rest and feel... normal.

That funeral only served to waste my time, it was just another pointless social gathering that had no use for her in the slightest.

Everything is fine, everything is normal, and I'm just overreacting like a little kid again. It's fine, I'm fine, everything is fine.

As the door stayed firmly shut, and the hybrid's mind continued to spiral into an endless sea of rampaging thoughts. The last Hawakaya remained exactly where she stood, staring at the door with a look of bewilderment, one she couldn't fully understand why she was expressing. Sure, the great and mighty Power had cried before, tons of times in fact when these stupid and barbaric mortal's couldn't understand her clear and precise logic.

Like when Topnot had foolishly allowed his arrogance and false belief in his own authority to overtake his dumb human head, and forced her to take an awful bath. Or when pigtails unlawfully stole her precious Meowy for the night, forcing her poor defenseless baby to be caged in that cursed hybrid's room. One that thankfully, the great and powerful Power, after only crying just a little bit, had rightfully and justifiably broken down Pigtails door, and liberated her feline buddy.

But this felt...different. Strange and unlike all the other times this human corpse had express this type of emotion onto her. Maybe her body was reacting weirdly to all of the recent events that had happen. It did cry alone after Pigtails had gone to sleep when Topnot died.. No, this was different as well. Was she hurt? No, but she did feel a strange tightness and aching feeling in her chest, like it was being constricted by an invisible force? Not even her logical fear of the darkness devil came close to this awful feeling, one that was paired with her eyes leaking valuable water from it...

"Meow!"

However, before Power could conduct anymore research into this new phenomenon she was experiencing. An unexpected, yet oh so familiar whine of her trusted buddy woke her up from her thoughts. Her little baby was sprawled across her couch with her little tiny and adorable head raised slightly at her. Thanks to Power's sheer intelligence in understanding Feline communication, this was obviously a well respected asked for cuddles, one that Power instantly accepted. By quickly walking over to her buddy, scooping her up in her arms, and holding her close to her chest. And if the tears continued to fall down her face, and her cries turned into a violent sob, at least she had her cat in her arms to hold on tight too.

The funeral came and went, the only ones remaining for any notable period of time being a tall scarred old man standing side by side with a red-headed woman. The two discussing something as they looked at the setting sun overcasting graveyard. Although the only one who could know what they had discussed were the countless crows flying freely overhead.

It's for the best that Asa didn’t go in the end. After all, should a murderer really be attending their victim’s funeral?

The days that followed were the same ever repeating cycle for the hybrid.

1. Wake up

2. Stay in bed for as long as her stomach would allow her until hunger becomes slightly unbearable,

3. Eat some slice bread

4. Shower for exactly 5 minutes, and scrub as hard as she could until her skin was red.

5. watch a series of tv channels for exactly 7 hours in total.

6. Go to sleep to escape her thoughts.

6. Dream of that same, cursed, ever lasting alleyway

7. Repeat

The only hitch in her perfectly normal routine was Power. Who no matter how much she tried to avoid, just kept on trying to interrupt Asa’s perfectly normal routine, thankyouverymuch.  From trying to pick her up and take her outside in the freezing cold, to forcing her to play her weird video games with her despite clearly not having time in her schedule to do so, to trying to get her to see the "poetry" and "literature" she wrote, which were nothing more then unintelligible words written on toilet paper! To even shoving Meowy straight into her face when she was eating her very nutritious slice of bread.

She even tried talking about marine biology with her. That was never our thing Power, it was his.

It’s not like she’s trying to be mean to her roommate, she’s really not! She’s just having a bad time with focusing as of late. This isn't anything knew, same happened after Mom and eventually everything turned out just fine! That’s all, it’s alright, everything is fine. This is all perfectly normal. She did just have a super hard fight against a very powerful devil. Hell she even died! It’s normal to feel tired like this, Miss Makima understood that, it’s why she gave them all time off. It's why she wasn't returning any of her calls. It's why she wasn't allowed in HQ. She was just giving her a nice, deserved break. One that would be better if Power would just stop bugging her all the time. Oh she bet she's soo cleaver looking at her with that stupid odd expression whenever she thinks she can't see her! Asa knows what depression is, it’s just a combination of chemicals in your brain that make you sad. But she isn't upset at all! She’s just tired! It’s why she's been trying to fix this issue by staying in her room and sleeping!

It's was the fiend's consistent annoyance that caused Asa to leave her room that day with a sense of anxiousness. She was fully prepared to face another round of Power's antics...Which never came.

huh?

For the first time since they bought the apartment. It was just Asa inside by herself, and a sleeping Meowy on her throne of beds. No Power their to scream her name in excitement as she saw her, no mad attempts to make her watch the tv....just silence.

What's the matter Mitaka, isn't this what you wanted?

Huh....She must of gone out for the day.

But that was good! It meant she could finally just relax and recharge without being disturbed! It's why she went straight back into her room without a second glace, it why she instantly dropped into her bed like a dead corpse. She could finally get some good old shut eye!

In the black void of her room, the hybrid lays cocooned in her bed. Moon light escapes through the gasp of her blinds, providing a bit of light for the teen. Okay her room is only a little bit of a mess, her clothes haven't been folded and might lay across her room in piles. It’s alright, she can be just a little bit messy. Come on, have you seen what Power was like? Asa’s room is a miracle in hygiene compared to what Power unleashed in her old house. She just hasn't really had the time to clean it up. But she is going to do it, just not right now.

The hybrid turns to face upward in her cocoon towards her window, content to watch the moon light shin right in. The soft sound of wind brushing across her window kept her room from being completely devoid of any sound. Honestly, she was happy that she wasn't hungry as it would just put a hinderance to her well deserved rest, as due to Power's absence from the apartment, it had allowed her to quickly eat some food before returning to the room. Though, no matter how hard she tried to just stop thinking about it, she couldn't help but deny the fact of how strange her absense was.....

But hey Power's a semi-adult, she can do stuff on her own! She doesn't need to be constantly watched like a child.

He would be so disappointed in you.

...

Hey Pochita, are you there?

...

Wanted to talk to you- Sorry its been a bit.

...

So much has happened Pochita, you wouldn't believe any of it.

...

It’s been 13 days since I killed Aki the Gun Devil and I just feel amazing, you know?

...

No stop it Pochita, I'm right it was the Gun Devi!

...

Ms. Makima said it was, Pochita she wouldn't lie to me. She's not like her.

"knock"

She has always been honest with me, Pochita. She told me it was the Gun Devil, that I had to stop it or-or else people would get hurt!

"knock.....knock"

It was the right thing to do! I had to stop it! It was killing so many people and the longer I took to just kill that thing, the more people would die!

...

Please Pochita, you have to believe me!

....

Pochita?

....

I had no choice Pochita

"knock, knock"

I did the right thing Pochita, it was stupid of me to cry, Ms. Makima said I did a good job, so it means everything is okay. It was stupid of me to cry.

"knock, knock, knock"

I killed a devil just the same as always, nothing's new.

"KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK"

I hate devils, I have always hated devils!

"KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK"

I hated you too you know?

"KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK"

I did the right thing, Pochita.

So....

Why did I cry?

"KNOCK!!!"

I killed the Gun Devil…I should feel happy.

"KNOCK!!!"

 I killed the Gun Fiend…

"KNOCK!!!"

I killed Ak-

"SMASH!!!"

The sound of a door smashing to the ground snapped Asa out of her thoughts as light rushing into her dark room from the destroyed doorway. The blankets of her cocoon falling to the side as the hybrid in a frantic speed as she desperately reach for the cord trigger on her chest to fight the on-coming threat.

Please not again

Not again

Not aga-

Oh.... It’s just Power.

Standing tall and proud in her now destroyed doorway, stood a victorious Power. Her crazed face beaming with a sense of victory at her accomplishment of destroying Asa's property. For once in her life, Power gave Asa the fortune of actually wearing appropriate clothing, instead of the usual half naked outfits she had on when in the apartment. To this day It still gave Asa nightmares of the sheer horrors she experience living with Power during those first couple of months in that old apartment. It was a couple of days before Asa had meet her in that fated phone booth, where after waking up slight late after a long night of patrol with Higashiyama. Asa saw in horror a naked fiend running around the entire house with a cat on her shoulders screaming at the top of her lungs that clothes were beneath her......yeah it still haunted her. But, today Asa was "lucky" all things considered, Power had decided on wearing her usual brand of mismatched outfits, a comfy bright pink sweater paired with a clean set of navy blue jeans. Despite Asa knowing she bought those pair of jeans only a week ago, it seems like it had been mauled by a tiger as it was covered in countless tiny little scratch marks. With the most likely cuprite being her vicious, mildly overweight cat. Although Asa attempts at distracting herself by analyzing the details found in the fiend had only provided mild success so far, as the pounding of her heart refused to slow down one tiny bit. Not even placing her hand over her heart and trying to listen to Pochita's was yielding any results.

It’s okay it was only Power

Powers the only one who lives with me, it was only ever going to be her.

I’m fine

Asa you have to breath

Just breath

It was just Power

You’re okay

....

Wait a sec

That fucker destroyed my door!

“Power!!!” The young hybrid all but growls at her roommate. “What the hell!!! I’ll told you time and time again to NOT just break into my room!!” screamed an enraged Asa. Her panic being replaced by a quick anger at the fiend. Does she know how expensive doors are?!? It'd cost us 200,000 Yen to replace it!!

Power completely ignored the enraged and frankly completely justified teen. Her attention being forcused entirely on her vanquished foe on the ground. “HA TAKE THAT YOU MONSTERIOUS BEAST!” Power cried out as she pointed at the destroyed door. “WITH ONLY ONE GREAT SWING OF MY MIGHTLY FIST YOU TRUMBLED TO NOTHING BUT DUST!! THATS WHAT YOU GET FOR KEEPING MY BUDDY HOSTAGE!!” The fiend dramatically raises her fist to the air seemingly to bathe in her five seconds of glory. Asa bets in her mind that she is imagining a sun beaming down on her from the corner of his room. Though her delusions must not of last for too long, before Power In a split second snapped her head directly at Asa before turning completely to face her next poor victim.

“ASA!!!" The fiend shouts with great enthusiasm. "GREAT NEWS! Me and my most trusted advisor Meowy have, in our infinite and dare I say noble prize worthy genius!” She pushes her finger upward across the side of her head, as if she’s pretending to adjust her nonexistent glasses.

“Have decided to send you on a grand and epic ADVENTURE!” The blonde shouts loudly as she ventures into Asa's slightly messy room.

Listen she understands how this looks, but she really was going to clean up her room today! Besides it's only a slight mess, sure her bed's been unmade for the past couple of days, and yes okay she still haven't actually taken the time to wash and organized her laundry. Okay she gets it, maybe she should of taken out the trash a bit sooner before it got a bit overfilled. But she was going to start cleaning it all up right before Power got here! Speaking of the fiend, she's just looking around her room, acting like she's never seen it before.....which okay granted she probably haven't seen it before. It's for a good reason, Asa had been very particular about not letting Power bother her in her bedroom. So it makes complete sense why Power is just staring around her room looking at the little bit of a mess that had pilled up. Asa was just waiting for that awful sarcastic and frankly embarrassing comment that any second now would come from her roommate. Afterall, over the course of those 9 months Power and her and absolutely no one else had been living with each other. Asa had constantly pestered, argued, yelled, begged, bribed, and forced Power to just try and keep their apartment clean. It wasn't easy living with a slob who didn't understand anything about basic human manners or hygiene! Always going on and on about how what she was doing was the correct "natural way" and "more mold improves your immune system" and why we shouldn't just throw away our spoils and should leave them around to scare off potential intruders. Well guess what Power looks like you finally won. Asa had finally joined her roommate in the dumps. Really congratulations Power! Hope you're happy!

...

That's odd

Despite having all she need to insult and mock the hybrid until the sun comes down. There never came one single insult or even a mean comment from Power's mouth. No, the only thing that she really expressed was this strange expression that had emerged on her face as she walked through her room. Weird, it was an expression that Asa had never really seen on the fiend before. It was like a mixed of a sad frown and......no. Asa was reading her expression wrong. Wouldn't be the first time that has happened and believe her this happens all the time. While her time at school might of been cut short, the hybrid can easily remember as clear as day all of the times where she didn't react property to a conversation or mistook someone's expression for something else. Or didn't laugh at a joke that someone said, or just pointed out that it wasn't funny when asked why she wasn't laughing because it wasn't! Asa was telling the truth and for some reason these people didn't understand. Wasn't her fault that people can't just be as clear and as straightforward as she was! Because there was just no way that Asa was interpreting this right...but was...did Power really have genuine concern written on her face? The same Power that would gladly insult you for hours at a time just because you did something that she thought was weird. Maybe Asa is just overthinking these basic human social expression once again, after all, god knows what goes through that crazed fiend mind. Luckily as quick as it emerged, that stupid expression would shifted into a far more sinister glee as the fiend suddenly broke out into a mad run aimed straight at Asa. The fiend jumped head first onto her bed, slamming herself like a torpedo onto Asa's nice soft warm bed before moving to ensnare the hybrid into a tight bear hug.

The fiend's hug was unbearably tight. It felt like Power was trying her best to squeeze all the life she could out of Asa. To the point where she struggled to speak or even breathe. While in Asa's recent lifestyle had made death a far more common companion then she really would of life and honestly it wouldn’t even be the first time she died in a hug. Asa's room was already messy and bordering on disgusting. Adding a wash of blood to that wouldn't help her future efforts at cleaning up at all. Also you know  dying also really, really, really, really, sucked like majorly sucked. It might be a complete mess, but even I still have standards Power!

“P-Powy.. s-sto...I..I can’t bre..athe!” Asa struggles to get out. The nonexistent gods must really like her today because for the first time in Asa's short life the walking corpse actually listens to her.

“Ooops, forgot how weak your human form was…” Say Power. Asa can only imagine her roommate making a face of slight embarrassment.

While easing up on her bone crushing and near fatal hug, Power still doesn't release the captured Asa from her grasp. With blood and oxygen returning to parts of her body, Asa's is finally able to breathe. Honestly when she isn't being killed by it, this hug is actually kind of nice- Wait a second, stay forcused! That monster destroyed our door!

“Power… …why.. The hell…. did you destroy my door!..” Asa says in between breaths, still only slightly reeling from the effects of cerebral hypoxia.

“HA! Should've just answered it idiot! It was obviously blocking me from seeing you! So after not hearing anything for a solid 5 seconds, and after so politely knocking, I came to the clear realization that it was obviously keeping you hostage!" Dear god Power what type of rationalization is that- "Lucky for you and your very weak pathetic noodle arms, that thing was WEAK and pathetic! Like the girl with the funny hairclips who always looked like a wet cat!!” Exclaimed Power with what Asa could assume was a proud face.

“As the great and benevolent ruler of his household, it is my grand responsibility to make sure its peasants, you, are accounted for....” Power goes quiet for just a second, the sound of wind pushing against her bedroom window's glass being the only noise in the room. The fiend partially lets go of Asa, but just enough to look her in the eyes. It’s strange, she’s wearing that same weird expression on her face from before. “...and besides you haven't left your room in days...."

"Meowy missed you.”

....

For the first time in her life, Power had left Asa completely speechless. Her ocean blue eyes going wide as saucers as the fiend's comments truly started to reach her mind. But the reason why it made her speechless was because it just can't be true! Power always lies or deceives Asa like 9.999.999 times out of 10, she is just yelling out obviously untrue statement about anything ranging from the Americans controlling the Japanese mind with satellites, how she's the one responsible for every achievement known to man and how it's a crime that she hasn't been give a hundred noble prizes and to be made President-Prime Minister-King-Augusto-Tsar of the country of Botswana with her advisor, Meowy the first. Or just going on and on about how lesbians are completely made up, or how Ms. Makima is dangerous and going to kill us, and even trying to convince her that Santa clause was real!  ......Okay turns out she was right about that last one, but still she always lies! Honestly it's miracle for her to even tell a small fraction of the truth! So this must be a lie, it needs to be a lie, statistically she was in the right! All she got to do is just go through her memories of the following days

Annnnd.....okay! Slight problem. she can't really remember anything. Perfectly normal! She'd just go through the highlights of the time she spent with Power! Like earlier today where she went into the kitchen and had a good old talk with her about-

No Mitaka, don't you remember? She wasn't even home today. You left her all alone again

O-kay! That's fine! Yeah! I remember I saw her yesterday in the living room, and we talked-  No Mitaka, don't you remember? You walked right past her as she tried to talk to you. You left her alllll alone again.

Cool!! That's a-okay! The day before that, we watched a good old movie together on the coach with Meowy, just like old times and- No Mitaka, don't you remember? You left not even a quarter of the way through. You left her allll alone again.

...

At least one day this week they spoke...Asa knows that. She knows, she talked with her. They were eating together at the dinner table for the first time since....the funeral. Asa knows this because-

Oh

Power was showing off this book to her at the dinner table. Saying how she found it in his box, some rudimentary introduction to Marine Biology. It even had a couple of aged annotated sticky notes and dog tag pages in it. Like someone really took the time to go through and try understand the context of the book. Like it was important for them to understand it. Power had boasted about how she stayed up allllll night trying her best to go through and read it, smiling with a rosy blush on how Asa should be oh so proud of her grand accomplishment. She really did look proud, her eyes were shining bright with pride, like a little kid scoring their first goal and bragging about it to their siblings. She went on talking about a picture of a Japanese carp that she found in it, going on and on how it was clearly the best fish in the world because it had same color as blood and obviously must of taken inspiration from her. She was so happy reading about it with her. Then went on and tried asking what Asa's favorite fish was....

And what did you do, Mitaka?

I didn't mean it-I really didn't.

What did you do, Mitaka?

Screamed at her.....screamed that I hated her, that she was pathetic idiot who was nothing more then a rotting corpse of a devil who just takes and takes and never gives anything back. That she was a waste of space and should die. Then I-

Stormed off like you always do, leaving everything behind in your wake. Always running away from everything.

You left her all alone again

But it's okay, Mitaka. We both know you did the right thing. After all. Should a murderer like you really be hanging out with your victims sister?

...

Oh Powy.. You are telling the truth..

With a slow, but determined effort. Asa wrapped her exhausted arms wrapped around the fiend and gently placed he head firmly into the crook of Power’s shoulder. She might be as cold as a corpse, but that's just alright for Asa. She has plenty of warmth to share with her buddy.

...I missed Meowy too”. Asa quietly said, trying to hold her as tight as she could without repeating the same near suffocation that she herself had experience not too long ago. Power fully returned her buddy's hug in full force, wrapping her long arms up in a nice big old hug. If the fiend could listen real quietly, she could almost feel the nice relaxing rhythm of her sister's blood flowing in her body. There was many weird and odd, and stupid, and gay and hypothetical lesbian things that her buddy did on a daily that confused the fiend..... especially after topnot.  But if there was one thing that Asa did good was that she gave very nice hugs. The young girl was slightly taller then Power, so each time they hugged it was like Asa was fully enveloping her. It was nice.. The two sat together like that for god knows how long. It didn't really matter for the two devils, as long as the two had each other, could still feel the beating of their heart, then maybe everything might end up just fine.....

"SMACK"

“OWWWW WHAT WAS THAT FOR!” Asa cried out. I was enjoying that hug you idiot!

“GO OUTSIDE AND GET SOMETHING” Power exclaimed, the blonde all but screaming in Asa’s face.

“HUH?!? WHY” Shouted Asa. it’s in the negatives!

“CUZ....uh.........it's............uh..........no not that............no, no Meowy already had dinner....no no I already got that........Ah! lucky for you I have a fantastic memory!" Asa stared at the fiend with a disbelieving face. "Which might I add that some lowly mortals such as yourself might even say I have the best in the entire world! Meowy informed me that we have no more food and will die slowly and rather painfully from starvation very soon if you don't get us more!” Power shouted right in Asa's ear.

Asa just stares at the fiend. “Power I saw the fridge earlier today. It's still stoc-”.

“MEOWY ATE IT ALL GO BEFORE I HIT YOU AGAIN”.

“DONT YOU DAR- OW! OKAY, OKAY ILL GO!!”. unknowingly to her, the corners of Asa's mouth for the first time in days, twitch slightly upwards in a small smile.

“ALRIGHT! Finally!” Shouts Power as she pulls up the young hybrid off of her bed.  Shooting Asa with a look of pure concentration.

“Based on the theoretical calculations I did with my theoretical calculator, which I was able to accomplish due to me obtaining my theoretical degree in theoretical physics at the very prestigious and very real University of Harvard-Yale-Tokyo that I got accepted into due to my noble prize winning invention of homicide!" I have decided you must be outside getting dinner for us for at leastsss.” She looks downward at her right arm, almost as if she is looking at a real clock on her arm that very clearly wasn't  there. “For 20 minutes and 1 hour!”

Asa stares at the fiend blankly for a moment, before a look of sheer annoyance overcomes her face.

“Power...” Asa sighs as she brings her fingers to squeeze the bridge of her noise in both annoyance and exhaustion. Just like he did.

“The correct way to say the time is to place the hours first before the minutes. This is because time follows a hierarchical descending order of magnitude. Which means that hour is the primary source of time, while minutes and seconds are fractional parts of that hour. Or in other words, it moves from the largest to the smallest. Which in this case would be hours since they are longer then minutes and minutes are longer then seconds.  Now I’m sure you're wondering Power, why time is divided up into 60 minutes. This system was created in part from Babylon, which was an ancient civilization dating back all the way to 2000 BCE on the rivers of Tigris and Euphrates in modern day Iraq. And before you ask Power, BCE means before the common era, and for the current era which we are apart of, we use CE.  Historically it was more common to see people use BC, which is acceptable and just as common as BCE, but it holds religious influence as BC stands for “before Christ”. One of the first people to use it was German astronomer Johannes Kepler!  But back on the subject of time, the system the Babylonians established was called the Babylonian System. Which created a 60-base system called “sexagesimal” and…..Power stop laughing, it doesn't actually mean sex. Either way, this would evolve into our modern day 60-minutes to an hour. Which is why we have all of our time based on 60, 60 seconds equal one minute, 60 minutes equal one hour. Hour take up the most amount of time, so that goes first, then minutes, then seconds. Which is why the correct way to say the time is 1 hour and 20 minutes”

“that’s what I said..” The fiend, despite being a literal walking corpse, somehow said with an even deader expression on her face.

That bitch!

“LIAR!! You said the incorrect time! You said 40 minutes and 1 hour when you know it’s wrong!!” Asa exclaims, pointing her finger straight as Power. A combination of a deep scowl paired with Furrowed brows shined on her face.

“BAWA, are you calling me a liar!” Power tried to act betrayed and hurt, but her wide smile had betrayed her. “Please! As if I could make a mistake like that, if anything you” The fiend shoved a finger at Asa's direction. “You’re the one who said it wrong!”

“HUH?!? WHEN?!”

“JUST NOW”

“NU-UH”

“YOU JUST SAID IT”

“NO!! LISTEN I WAS JUST REPEATING WHAT YOU SAID”

“WELL I WAS REPEATING WHAT YOU REPEATED WHAT YOU ORINGALLY SAID, IDIOT”

“DON’T CALL ME AN IDIOT!! I AM NOT AN IDIOT YOU-

“IDIOT, IDIOT, IDIOT”

Asa’s face was flushed with a dark, crimsoned red, she grits her teeth with pure rage.

“GO TO HELL”

“HUH? YOU GO TO HELL”

“GO TO HELL, GO TO HELL, GO TO HELL”

“HA AS IF GOING TO HELL IS A BAD THING! I’M ALREADY THE RULER OF HELL YOU IDIOT HUMAN!!”

“I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT’S NOT TRUE!”

"IT IS TRUE!! MEOWY CAN BACK ME UP"

"POWER WE BOTH WENT TO HELL ALREAD-"

The fiend lets out a long and dramatic sign as she place her hand on Asa's shoulder, looking her dead in the eye. Asa’s face is seething with rage and truly it’s mostly annoyance, she’s breathing a bit hard from all of the yelling and on the right of her forehead shows a little blood-vessel appearing on the side of her forehead. But it’s worth it, she definitely won the argument!

“It's alright little Asa”. The fiend says as she takes this golden opportunity to condescendingly pat Asa on the head. Don’t you dare-

“I can understand how difficult it must feel living with someone as smart and as beautiful as I”. A shit-eating smirk emerging on her face. In that moment Asa would have done anything to see that smirk gone from the fiend’s face.

“While I would love to continue to show just how much more amazing and intelligent and beautiful and fantastic and cleaver and elegant I am then you could ever possibly dream to be. You have a grand mission to complete!” Shouts an energetic Power.

The fiend grabs her hand, all but dragging her through first her bedroom, then through the living room at a frantic pace.

Taking a look around the living room it's honestly a miracle that it was still in one piece, even after bearing the wrath of a sugar high fiend for the past couple of weeks. While it certainly wasn’t as clean and organized as it was in their old house, nothing could really beat a man with an obsession with cleaning that could even rival his hatred of devi- stop I don't want to think about this. With the sole exception of Meowy’s 4 foot tall bed, everything was kind of all over the place. The tv was upside down in only the first couple of days with Power saying something about it "enlightening" the experience when watching. There were still left overs sitting on the table with increasing levels of mold and the toaster was currently embedded into the ceiling after Power had a fight with it. But despite it all, It seems that the fiend was making an honest attempt to keep the household clean and somewhat organized. The small clock stood tall next to the tv, the time reading 21:31.

She's doing it all for you, you murderer-

“OW! Power come on, stop hitting me!!”

“You stop with that face!!”

“What face??”

“The one where you look all sadddd and dumb!”

“I swear to god Power, I will pull my cord!”. The fiend only gives the hybrid another shit-eating grin in response as she pulls Asa through their home, passing by their kitchen to the front door.

Asa only gets a brief glimpse of their kitchen. It's a small area that had been hardly used since the two arrived in the apartment. Power couldn’t cook to save her life and Asa had been relying off of take out or instant made foods for the past week to keep herself going. Yet an odd sight caught the young girl's eye. In the brief glimpse that Asa caught, as the Fiend all but ran through their house dragging her victim along, was weird. The usually barren and empty kitchen was filled with big metal bowls, a mixer, and....wait was that a thing of blue frosting on the table? Weird she's never really liked the taste of frosting before. Always thought it was disgusting.

The duo finally makes their way to the doorway, Power taking no time at all to throw Asa’s boats and her green coat at her, before lightly yet firmly shoving her out the door.

“Now! You must brave these harsh elements and survive to make it back with an appropriate dinner or else ill feed you too Meowy myself!” Power proclaims with an intense stare, pointing behind her at her most fearsome, over-weight white cat that was lying in the middle of their living room. All Asa did was just stares back at her with a confused look, snow already setting on the top of her head.

Why is she making such an effort for me to leave?

With a sigh of defeat, the hybrid realizes that trying to understand Power’s logic was like trying to understand how the universe was created or why men were all a bunch of weird hormonal losers.

“Don't be back too soon alright Asa!” The fiend said, leaning against the doorframe and perfectly protected from the falling snow.

Asa crosses her arms against her chest. “Whatever you say, just don't destroy the house before I'm back alright. C’ya Powy”. Asa gives a light wave at her roommate, the cold winds pushing her bangs across her face as she gives a warm smile to her buddy.

For some reason, Power was more focused on looking downwards at the floor than at her. Was there a bug or something on the ground? Although all it seemed to do is just block her golden crosshair eyes with her bright blond hair. Maybe she’s just getting a bit cold, her bottom lip was starting to tremble.

See you soon Asa”. The fiend says with that same odd expression from before. With a sudden loud slam, Power shuts the door in her face leaving Asa all alone once again.

The hybrid stood in front of the closed door for a moment, snow starting to pill up around her. Before finally deciding to just get going and head to the nearest grocery store in search of some dinner. Maybe some nice onigiri or a good bento box or if she could find it some oden! ....na Power wouldn't like that. She should just try to find some good meats for her to snack on, she certainty deserves it after everything. Yeah! That sounds like a great idea actually! Maybe some Gyudon or even Jingisukan! Yeah they both loved that dish when they were visiting Hokkaido...for no reason. Sure, Power might of been acting a bit dramatic when she left and sure she did seem a bit off. But with the way Asa has been acting lately it made sense, the poor fiend has been under a lot of stress lately. The best way to make her happy is to find a good meal for her!

wait...

...

Augh!

Of course Power forgot to give me my gloves!!

It's a bit of a shame that Asa was just so distracted by her lack of appropriate winter outfit and on what to buy for her roommate. If only she was paying just a little bit more attention to her surroundings, then maybe Asa's would of notice the murder of crows perched on the roof tops of the surrounding buildings. All staring straight at her.

Notes:

Aww poor Asa forgot her gloves :c Hopefully someone's gonna help her out in that cold weather!

Also I got no idea if all that time stuff is true, I was just typing that straight from the heart.
