My hearts gone bad (now it only beats for you)

Summary:

It was odd, but for a second chance at life, Elaine really could have done a lot worse. She loved her brought-to-life Pokémon, even if learning to be in a realistic Pokémon world was a hell of a learning curve.

Elaine/Giovanni

Notes:

A story that I've been working on for years and have finally decided to let it see the light. More to come in multiple parts since they're so long.

Elaine is based off of both the Let's Go games and episode 8 of Pokemon Evolutions, while Giovanni is based off of the games and Pokemon Origins. The story will have more of a serious plot and will progressively get darker.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: blue jeans, white shirt

Chapter Text

Giovanni POV

Giovanni had faced plenty of opposition over the years; challengers and complaints against his title as Viridian gym leader and against his organization, mainly. Regarding the latter, the police were either ignorant or in his pocket, and the league didn’t have any clue about his extracurricular activities when he was performing his duties as gym leader. Anonymity was both his blessing and his weapon when it came to the general public.

That was the case until he met the rookie trainer Elaine, and her pacifistic eevee.

He had heard from his subordinates that a rookie trainer was tearing through his grunts from the depths of Mt. Moon. She was likely to be another Pallet town brat starting her journey and just as green as the viridian forest he grew up with as a child.

That didn’t mean he wasn’t going to do his research on her; even the smallest spark could grow into an inferno and burn down his empire before his very eyes if he left it unchecked - Lance was a prime example.

Giovanni accessed her trainer profile via the league server, and his intuition had been correct about her originating from Pallet. She had passed her exam when she turned eighteen, but didn’t get high enough marks to receive a squirtle, charmander, or bulbasaur. In fact, she had gotten only an eevee runt for her starting Pokémon from the former champion-turned-professor, Samuel Oak. Eyes, hair, and skin were brown. Only a mother was listed on file with no other family.

Elaine’s first debut happened a mere week after her journey began, a feat that impressed Brock’s gym trainers and the simple minded people of Pewter, but not him. Even if you didn’t start your journey with a squirtle or bulbasaur, there were plenty of pokemon along the way that knew fighting or grass-type moves to get the job done; even a child with the youngster permit could beat Brock if they used their brains. What was interesting about her victory was that it was done with only an off-colored butterfree and the tiny eevee, the small foxlike Pokémon having kicked Brock’s onix so hard that the rock-snake nearly fell apart from the blow. Hell, the debris from the large pokemon’s rocky hide had nearly shattered the gym’s camera.

Then, he had received the report from the eccentric duo leading the fossil retrieval in Mt. Moon about how powerful and unique the normal-type she held was despite its size and docile demeanor. Apparently, this eevee could use moves that were unheard of, moves that shouldn’t even be possible for its genetics unless it was already evolved.

The information tickled the back of Giovanni’s brain, but he put that aside for now. Elaine was somebody he needed to look into, personally. She was either a threat, or a possible ally to recruit into his organization. So, he waited until he got word that she was headed towards Vermillion city before departing from the Celadon base. He wouldn’t doubt that she would be preparing for her third badge by the time his private helicopter arrived.

One of his undercover grunts reported overhearing her having tickets for the SS. Anne’s premier party, and Giovanni took his chance. Getting tickets to such an event last minute wasn’t a hard task for him, and by the time he was dressed in gray-blue jeans and a black long sleeved shirt, he was stepping into his alter-ego. He still held himself proud, but not as arrogant as he would as the strongest gym leader. Or as unforgiving. Not as Boss Giovanni. He was Veteran Trainer Sakaki until tomorrow morning.

He rolled his jaw when he caught sight of the infamous Elaine, trotting down the dock from the lively port city with the tiny eevee perched on her cap, both wide-eyed with a wonder that was strange for a fellow native. It confirmed some facts about the Pokémon, and raised more questions about Elaine. She was…shorter…than he expected. Young-looking with the lingering baby-fat in her cheeks. It was possible that her appearance helped win some battles. Sometimes, in order to win against a skilled opponent that knows they’re stronger than you, you have to play to all the advantages available and he wouldn’t blame her for using her looks in such a way. The mother of his son was excellent at it. It would also explain how a rookie was tearing through the gym circuit so quickly, as well.

…and if they saw through the young facade, the sheer expanse of leg on display would probably deter rational thought as well.

He waited until he managed to catch her eye as she walked up to stand behind him in the queue before engaging her. “Hello. Lovely day for a cruise, yes?” He drawled, making sure to soften his face into something friendly and inviting.

Both Elaine and her eevee looked at him with curiosity shining in their eyes. “Good afternoon.” She replied with a kind tone. Her voice was meek like a wild pikachu’s, with a slight scratchy undertone that belied disuse.

“Are you staying for the full trip, or just the premier?” He asked, making sure to fall into step with her as they moved at a slowpoke’s pace in line to board.

“I only have premier tickets.” She seemed to be mulling something over, and just as he was about to open his mouth and speak again, she continued, an octave louder this time. “This is kind of a spontaneous thing - I only really want to have some fun with my pokemon and have some battles before taking on the gym.” The girl revealed with a small smile, honey eyes flickering between him and the heels of the elderly couple ahead of them.

He flashed a disarming smile back. “There’s nothing wrong with a splash of spontaneity in one’s life. I admit that I’m also here on a whim for the yearly premier.”

“Nice to know that it’s not just me.” She said, her voice softer now that she’d put her vocal chords to use.

“So, are you local to Vermillion? Or is Lt. Surge just your next challenge?” he asked lightly.

“Ah, no. I mean, yes?” Elaine shook her head, making the silent eevee suddenly chirp in admonishment for nearly losing its footing on her head. “Sorry; no, I’m not local-I’m actually from Pallet Town. I’m going to take on the gym sometime tomorrow.” She explained with a sheepish expression.

He made an understanding noise. “Ah! I see. You must have just started when the new year began then, yes? Impressive to have two badges already when only training for four months.”

Elaine’s cheeks started to look a bit rosy. She must have been under the sun for a while today. “Actually, due to an accident, I couldn’t start my journey until a little under a month ago.” Her voice was even softer now, more subdued.

He raised a brow at the new information. What kind of accident could that be? Could it be exploited? “I’m sorry to hear that. Are you alright now?”

Elaine let out a short laugh and waved her hand. “Sure, for the most part.”

He noticed that Elaine had slowly been becoming more open the more they talked. Her eyes never left him anytime he spoke, a huge difference compared to a few minutes ago. Giovanni took a hand out of his pocket and gestured over his shoulder. “Did you come through Diglett tunnel to get here? I heard the main checkpoints were blocked off for some kind of security reason.” That security reason being Archer’s work while they finish up the Lavender operation.

The girl tilted her head, eyes looking towards the edge of Vermillion where he was pointing. “Diglett cave leads back to Viridian?” She asked, her soft voice lilted with wonder.

What did they teach in school anymore? Any trainer from Kanto worth their salt should know the routes. It took a lot of effort to keep the condescension out of his tone when he responded, his opinion of her dropping a bit. “Yes, it cuts the walking time from here to Viridian by weeks. You can even cut around the forest and make it to Pewter faster from the other side.”

“Huh…” She seemed to be thinking that over, while Giovanni side-eyed her. This girl may not be as bright as he had assumed.

“Well, the more you know.” Elaine chuckled, and Giovanni let their conversation drop once getting to the ticket checkpoint.

A brunette boy stopped them as soon as they broke free from the crowd. “Hey, there you are!” The teen paid Giovanni no mind, and he took a step back to blend into the sea of people slowly dispersing the entry hall.

“Hey, Trace.” She greeted, a smile of similar warmth of the one she gave the attendant asking for her ticket. Her lukewarm feelings towards the boy was curious; especially considering that this ‘Trace’ looked at her with a familiarity that was both intense and tremulous.

“Thanks again for the ticket. This ship is huge-and it’s full of trainers to battle!” She grinned in response, full lips stretched wide over pearly teeth. It was a smile that he’d expect to see on a hungry arcanine.

“Bonjour! If it isn’t Elaine and Trace!” The girl was popular. Another brunette walked through the crowd with confident steps, this one slightly older and cocky with his smirks and stance. The yakuza stepped further back and out of sight. This boy he recognized instantly as Sam Oak’s grandson, Blue. Giovanni elevated Elaine’s threat level from the acquaintance alone. “Didn’t think I’d be seeing the two of you here! Are you on a date?”

Trace’s greeting was interrupted by his own spluttering and a reddening face. Elaine showed zero expression aside from a roll of her eyes. “Of course not. I had an extra ticket and who else but to give it to my friend?”

“Best friend!” Trace interjected hastily.

Blue nearly laughed. “Well, if you guys were hoping to fight some strong trainers, there might still be some hanging around. The party I was invited to is basically over and I’m done with this scene.” He ran a hand through his wild hair and searched for something in his pant’s pocket. “I got plenty of party favors too…here, I can even share.” he gave what looked like shalour sables to the other two. “More importantly, you wanna know what I overheard at the party? You guys know team rocket, right?”

Giovanni’s waning attention instantly sharpened back onto the trio. Elaine’s brow furrowed and she seemed to be thinking carefully over her words before saying, “I’ve battled them before…”

Blue raised a brow. “Seriously? You must be fearless or something, kid. Anyway, team rocket is a dangerous group, and they’re trying to use pokemon to make themselves rich. I might do some digging into what it is they’re really after…” Blue said with a considering look on his smug face while Elaine and Trace glanced at each other. “Anyway, you two’d better stay out of their path! See ya!” He threw them a two finger salute and left the way they’d just come, dodging a lollygagging mother and her child as they entered.

Giovanni needed to inform his admins to be vigilant and on the lookout for another brat from Pallet, it seems.

“Elaine, if you get tangled up with those jerks again, you should call me!” Trace said, looking at the girl with a pinched expression.

Giovanni was slightly incensed to see her look apathetic to the threat of running into them again. “I’ll be fine. I’m going to go find my room, I’ll see you later.” He saw that her eyes were already scanning the groups of people talking throughout the hall, and wondered if she was looking for her own refreshment. The boy, Trace, looked troubled by her abrupt farewell but left down the adjacent hall. To Giovanni’s surprise, her eyes lit up as soon as they landed on him. A smile lit up her face, causing dimples to pinch her dark cheeks.

“There you are! Sorry that I kind of abandoned you there.” she apologized as she quickly walked over, her eevee letting out a tiny bark to echo his trainer.

He adapted his persona as soon as he got over his satisfaction that he left enough of an impression for her to seek him out. “It’s no worry, miss. I saw that you were reunited with friends and didn’t want to intrude.”

“Ah, my name is Elaine, by the way.” She said with a sheepish expression. “It’s nice to meet you…?’

“Sakaki.” He introduced, not even thinking twice at using his birth name. “The pleasure’s all mine.” her smile returned full force, and Giovanni’s hidden eyes narrowed in on the slight flush decorating her cocoa-butter complexion. Well, he certainly didn’t account for Elaine to be attracted to someone like him factoring into his con, but he wasn’t complaining. She was younger than what he typically preferred and lacked the assets that normally got him going, but she was pretty enough to keep up the act.

“Excuse me! I see that cute little eevee on your head, kid. Want to battle?” a blonde woman in a red party dress walked towards them from one of the many rooms and paused as she noticed him. Typically, this was his type of woman. Alluring curves and a smoldering look behind mascara thickened lashes that screamed experience; a grown woman that knew what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to get it. The corner of his lips turned up in acknowledgement. “I can spend some time with you after I win, handsome.” she simpered, her voice more breathy all of a sudden.

“Yeah, I’ll battle you. Here, or is there an indoor arena somewhere?” Elaine cut in loudly, the loudest tone he’d heard from her yet.

The woman looked back down at the younger woman and looked like she regretted asking for a battle at all. She most likely thought she’d look bad beating a child in front of a man she’d been checking out. Giovanni barely contained the smirk that threatened to spread across his face at the resounding loss the woman was about to face. Because surely, if Elaine could beat his grunts without breaking a sweat then she could handle a random lady. “There isn’t any arenas here, sweetie. There’s an upper deck that’s been popular all morning for battles, so let's head upstairs.” The woman’s eyes came back to focus on him. “I’m Nickie by the way, you’re coming too, right?”

Elaine looked at him from the corner of her eye, her silence as telling as the pleading look Nickie was giving him. He gave a half smile at the two women. “Of course! I’m curious to see my new friend in action.” Both women smiled at that, and he had no intention of clarifying which one he was referring to.

It took only five minutes to reach the vacant deck. The two decided on two on two, only subbing when a round was over. Giovanni leaned against the wall and watched as the quiet girl sent out a meowth while the woman sent out a pidgey. By just observing, he could tell the clear difference in level. The woman’s bird was plump and fluffy, while Elaine’s meowth was lithe muscle under the well-groomed fur. Nickie herself didn’t realize the difference in their training abilities, instead fawning over the cat’s cuteness like a fool.

“Purry, Fake out.”

Purry?

The scratch-cat darted towards the spooked bird and smashed its head in a loud clap. Doing considerable damage in one move and stalling the opponent from countering in the first move. “Bite.”

“Pidgey, don’t just stand there!” Nickie called, frustrated when her pet bird continued to chirp and flap its wings in distress when the meowth’s jaws clamped down onto its torso. The meowth clenched its jaw again, and immediately let go when the bird went still and passed out from the pain. The girl had won the round in less than two minutes with only three moves.

The bird was recalled and Elaine’s meowth wiped the feathers from its mouth before getting recalled as well. “You just caught us by surprise!” Nickie exclaimed, switching the pokeball out for another in her purse.

“Sure, sure.” Elaine responded with a blank face, her little eevee hiding its face in the top of her hat and looking like it was holding back giggles.

The older woman grew red in the face. “Pikachu! Go!”

“Hopscotch, wakey wakey!” The shorter girl quietly called out in a bizarre command and threw a pokeball to release a bulbasaur, much to Giovanni’s surprise. Had she caught one in Viridian forest? Usually it took weeks to hunt down a migrating herd of the venusaur line, and she had been blitzing her way through the cerulean gym two weeks after starting her journey. Surely his intel wasn’t wrong…?

The rare pokemon let out a wide, obnoxious yawn that looked more at home on a slowpoke than a bulbasaur. The pikachu had rushed the grass type in a quick attack before it was even finished. The squat little thing let out a cry that could easily be translated into ‘what a drag.’ before giving its opponent a put-upon glare. “Hopscotch, leech seed.” Elaine called as the pikachu zipped back around for another quick attack.

“Buuuuu…” the bulbasaur shot some seeds out only for them to be easily dodged by the speedy mouse. With a more focused expression, the bulbasaur shook its back and spread the seeds around it in a shower that was unavoidable on the pikachu’s third attack. The darkening bruises on the grass-types' shoulders slowly started to lighten as it sapped the pikachu’s life force.

“Paralyze it!”

“Vine whip!”

The mediocre battle continued on for a few minutes, each opponent whittling down each other's health and prolonging the fight with moves like double-team and poison-powder. In the end, Elaine won with a freshly healed bulbasaur (aside from lingering paralysis) and a drained pikachu. Giovanni couldn’t help but wonder why the girl didn’t use one of her other more experienced pokemon, but got the job done regardless. Sometimes, a trainer's skill showed in their decision making along with their power.

“I can’t believe I went around the world for these pokemon!” Nickie whined, ignoring Elaine's confused “Wha?” and shoved her winnings into her hand. “Whatever, I’ve got better things to do.” Without sparing either of them another glance, the woman stomped off.

“Good fight,.” Giovanni said as he stood by her side once more.

“Thanks,” she replied with a small smile. “It was alright.” She rubbed a paralyze heal-soaked cotton swab along her bulbasaur’s face.

“Unsatisfied, hm?” Giovanni lifted his aviators up enough and smirked down at her.

Elaine blinked up at him and stared a beat longer than socially acceptable before returning his smirk. The sight of it stealing across her face shocked him; the almost shy girl he’d come to know looked to be a different person while wearing it with a matching challenge in her eyes. “You could say that. You wanna have a go?”

He bared his teeth, his grin coming a little too naturally at the taunt. Now this girl-this version of Elaine he liked.  “I’m afraid I left my pokemon at home for the day.” Giovanni lied. “I have nowhere to be for another hour yet if you want to track down some more worthwhile opponents, though. I enjoy watching battles, so I’ll tag along if that’s alright?”

“Yeah, that’s fine!” She said, quickly standing back up enthusiastically. Giovanni nodded and let his shades fall back over his eyes, and was amused to see her bulbasaur had fallen asleep on its haunches during treatment, wide mouth open and drooling up at the blue sky. Elaine followed his gaze and laughed softly, quickly recalling the dozing pokemon. “Sorry, she loves taking naps. I swear she was raised by abra.”

“Was she your starting pokemon from the professor?” Giovanni asked innocently as they wandered back inside.

“Ah, no. Actually, a lady had given her to me back in cerulean once she saw how developed my pokedex was.” She revealed while scratching her eevee under its chin. “Said that she needed an experienced trainer to take care of her, and that she was wilting away stuck in her house. Literally.”

“How fortunate that you came along when you did.” he managed to say with a straight face.

“Yeah, it seems to be a recurring theme this week.” She continued, adjusting her ponytail and scanning their fellow passengers for any trainers. “A guy gave me a charmander that he’d found abandoned on the other side of Nugget Bridge when he saw how my team was with me, and Officer Jenny gave me a delinquent squirtle she’d been chasing from Cerulean to Vermillion just this morning. She was impressed with me when she heard about me beating some Team Rocket grunts. But I think she was just wanting to push him off on someone else, personally.”

“That’s amazing…” Giovanni said, sounding distant to his own ears. What the hell? She was just…gifted three of the most rare and powerful pokemon in a chain of events one after the other? Was she the protagonist in a movie or something?

“It’s unbelievable, right?” Elaine gave him a wry look that showed that she heard what he’d held back. “I feel just a bit cheated that I couldn’t go out and look for them myself, but I’m grateful to be able to raise them regardless.”

Understandable. A rare was a rare at the end of the day, though. He respected her reasoning, regardless.

She battled a kid with a brand new youngsters’ license and a few more adult tourists over the next hour. Giovanni made mental notes of her battle style and any flaws that presented themselves. Her off-colored butterfree was the next pokemon he got to see, her pink limbs and bright green eyes making the youngster’s mother coo in the background while her son’s only pokemon was swept off its feet and knocked unconscious with a single powerful gust.

The next fight was with an older gentleman with a thick galarian accent that was offended that she’d bothered him for a battle and then proceeded to toss a growlithe at her. He saw the aforementioned squirtle she’d named Boss then, so the so-called boss of a squad of delinquent squirtle. He even had a dynamic pair of black sunglasses framing his round face, much to his amusement. It was unbelievable how powerful her ridiculous pokemon were.

Elaine had natural talent when it came to battles, it seemed. Especially in thinking outside the box that many trainers fall into these days. Even though she had the type advantage, Elaine made sure that the shade-wearing squirtle took minimum damage with a bastardized version of rapid spin by withdrawing mid-tackle in response to an oncoming ember before dealing their own super-effective damage. She fought like a veteran trainer in a high-stakes battle, making sure her pokemon were at their most optimal. The girl would do well in any minor-league tournaments if she chose to participate.

He saw himself in her at these moments, the blatant desire to fight and prove her and her pokemon’s worth while drawing blood from victory. Then, the nostalgic vision would evaporate when she cuddled and kissed each member of her team after winning. She was an enigma. Especially when Elaine went back to acting just shy of being mute when interacting with the other trainers. She was very talkative to him, even though he was practically a stranger as well. She’d let a curse fly under her breath unprompted when making a dry joke or complaining, which Giovanni thought was hilarious, considering her youthful appearance. (“Seriously Sakaki, he uses ember on a floating, wooden vessel and I’m the dumb kid? The fucking audacity…”)

His earlier theory was proven correct when a sailor mistook her for a child and went easy on Elaine, especially when she sent out her bulbasaur against his slowpoke. It was truly a battle of titans; the two lazy pokemon were in a stalemate for the first few minutes by just lazily throwing neutral attacks at each other until the squat grass-type had slammed the pink marsupial with a violence that conflicted with her personality. Giovanni was experienced enough to see the signs of a trainer’s personality bleed into their pokemon’s actions. It took a seasoned trainer to tell, something the sailor was not. He still saw a child that lucked out with her type-advantage when he paid and congratulated her.

Elaine’s consecutive victories have produced multiple theories; One; Elaine was a prodigy. Two; she had pokenatural talent that always seemed to show in trainers living near the Viridian forest. Three; she had one of the hardest, most grueling training regimes and was great at hiding the abuse.

He had doubts that it was the latter; her affection was borderline coddling, and he hadn’t seen a single member of her team flinch or act nervous around her. They ate up her hugs and kisses like pandering contest pokemon. Her butterfree had looked back at her and attacked without command against the kid’s mankey, so having pokenatural talent wasn’t out of the question. As for being a prodigy…There was much he needed to think about. Giovanni was beginning to think that the only ones to truly know Elaine of Pallet Town were her pokemon.

Sadly, he had to say goodbye and go about his fabricated business after coming to that conclusion. He couldn’t hang around her the entire day, of course. That would surely raise too many red flags and suspicion. She made him promise to find her later during the banquet, much to his satisfaction. Giovanni would have plenty of time to draw out more answers then. Depending on what more he could uncover during dinner, Elaine would either go about her happy-go-lucky journey collecting badges or her body would be at the bottom of Vermillion harbor and Team Rocket would gain some new powerful assets.

In the meantime, he needed to make some discreet calls to his recruiter in Cerulean. The man had left out a few important details in his report.

Elaine POV

Elaine let Kyuukun out to stretch his paws a bit while she continued to battle, and was elated when Hopscotch evolved after beating another bored sailor. “Look at you, girl! I won’t be carrying you around anymore.” She laughed as the ivysaur stood on her hind legs to butt her head into her chest.

“Vi, hop off for a bit, we’re going to take a break and celebrate!” She flagged down a waiter and asked if she could get some food and drinks delivered to her table. Most of the other trainers had long since dispersed after congratulating her for her pokemon’s evolution, so she could let all of her team out free without crowding anyone. Vi and Kyuukun sniffed the large leaves growing out of Hopscotch’s back as the sleepy girl settled down behind Elaine’s chair. Boss was already stressing Freya out by climbing up onto the rail and trying to look over and into the water. Purry decided that her lap was the perfect place to nap while her starter was otherwise occupied, and the heavy feline hadn’t moved since.

Elaine smiled as she watched her team before taking out her pokedex to look at the new entry. “The bud on its back grows by drawing energy. It gives off an aroma when it’s ready to bloom…huh.” Too bad Sakaki left before he could see Hopscotch evolve.

Thinking about the suave and charismatic older man made her cheeks grow warm. She really liked Sakaki. She liked that he takes her weirdness in stride and seems to welcome her quips and comments. He’s definitely too old for her to be checking out any chance she got, but can’t help but be attracted to the first person to see her for who she actually was. He was the first adult she’d met that didn’t assume she was a naive little girl that needed protecting because of how shy she seemed, or because of her petite stature.

It helped that he was one hell of a man, too. And her new body may be eighteen, but her mind was twenty-three so she knew what she wanted. (She was way over her head here. Even before she’d never attempted to flirt with a man of Sakaki’s caliber. He was way out of her league). She’d never had daddy issues before and she didn’t think she did now, but that wouldn’t stop her from calling him daddy if he asked.

He also resembled what she'd like to think a real-life Giovanni might look like, which added to his sexiness. She’d always liked him when she played Pokemon Yellow as a kid, and a man like Sakaki held more appeal than the boys flocking to her during her journey so far. She hadn’t played any pokemon games since she was a child with a gameboy color aside from POGO during its first year, but she was pretty sure her adventure was following the same path as the story in special yellow. The only difference was that she had an eevee instead of a pikachu, and her rival was a boy named Trace instead of Blue Oak. Even though Blue was here on his own adventure, which made her wonder if Red was too.

It was odd, but for a second chance at life, Elaine really could have done a lot worse. She loved her brought-to-life pokemon, even if learning to be in a realistic pokemon world was a hell of a learning curve. She wished she could have had more than six months of veterinary schooling before dying, and apparently it was rare to see anyone have knowledge or seek knowledge about a pokemon’s biology in this world unless you were part of the Joy clan or training under a pokemon breeder. If it weren’t for her lack of pink hair and darker skin, she could have been mistaken for the daughter of one of the pink-haired nurses, which was ass. Elaine kept her curiosity to herself after a small debacle in the Pewter pokemon center. She didn’t want to be blacklisted from all pokemon centers because she decked a nurse in the face for making accusations.

Aside from that, so far her biggest obstacle was what she said, and how she said things. She was never really good at censuring herself before, and that hasn’t changed. If she thought someone was acting like a dick, she told them as such. If she saw anyone abusing their pets or any animal, she responded in kind with her claws out (she missed her stiletto nails). There was also the fact that she was impersonating a Kanto born girl that should know what was essentially Japanese as a second language, but only really knew bits and pieces from memes and a smattering of anime she’s seen subbed as a modern American. Thank god the common tongue most people used around here was English, but she still got looks for not knowing what certain terms and words meant. (Like, how the fuck was she supposed to know that Charmander in japanese or kantonese or whatever was hitokage?!) Also, she hadn’t played these games in nearly two decades, and there was so much more land and architecture in a real city and route so she got lost or turned around often more than not. Mistakes like admitting her ignorance about things like Diglett’s tunnel happened more than she’d like, but she had a lot of time to make up for during this gym challenge and studying her mother region didn’t take priority over caring for her rapidly growing team of pokemon. Except for learning to read and write this weird fucking alphabet. It was very hard not writing in the english alphabet she knew and trying to learn the blocks that were a bitch to translate. Hell, if all else fails she could succeed as an archaeologist because her version of english was only slightly off from ancient unknown.

She hated to be seen as ignorant just because of her age as well, soshe had to bite her tongue a lot here. Yeah, Elaine had to keep quiet and keep isolated from people quite a bit if she wanted to keep her body-snatching identity a secret. Trace already looked at her like he was mourning who she was supposed to be half the time, much to her discomfort.

The fact that she didn’t have to be suppressed into a mute video game protagonist when Sakaki was around was cathartic as hell. At first she was worried that he liked her for her youthful appearance, but with the way he’d been eyeing that hoe Nickie helped dissuade her worries of him being a creep. He seemed to want to spend time with her because he actually liked her, and Elaine assumed the man was thinking the same as her. Well, she hoped. Really, what was more of a perfect scenario to lose her v-card on a romantic cruise ship with a clean-cut daddy in a one night stand? She could bang out her childhood crush on a pixelated mob boss while she was at it, so she didn’t act a fool in front of the man when she eventually battled him.

Purry let out a disgruntled meow and hopped off of her lap, making her wince from the accidental scrape of claws on her bare thighs. The cause of the meowth’s departure was her very first pokemon barking at the feline to move from her perch on the table in front of her. Elaine blinked as the little fox-like pokemon pranced around her half-empty plate of fried fish and jumped into her lap to look up at her with worry.

Elaine smiled and ran a hand through the pokemon’s fluffy mane. She had no way to know for sure, but she had suspicions that this little eevee was also just as transmigrated as she was. The last thing Elaine remembered seeing in her previous life was her diving for a kitten on the interstate, her own car thrown haphazardly into park. She didn’t remember anything after that except pain before waking up in front of someone’s tv screen, and nearly had a psychotic break after realizing what had happened. Then, when she had finally been ready to venture forth into her new life…a tiny eevee of all things with the same burgundy-purple eyes as the kitten ran out to meet her, like it was searching for her.

She wasn’t truly convinced that something fishy was going on until Oak confirmed that the eevee was a rare one and odd that it was all the way out here. Alas, Elaine wasn’t a psychic and couldn’t read the minds of her pokemon. She was really good and reading the tones and moods of them though, and what she’d caught directed at her from her partner pokemon satisfied her curiosity.

“I’m fine, Vi.” Elaine gave pokemon an obnoxious kiss to her forehead, making her laugh in those cute little eevee barks. “Just reminiscing a bit.” She heard anxious bug sounds ahead of her, and quickly looked up to see Boss shooting off a scalding jet of water at a pidgeotto flying overhead, the blast clipping the avian on its tail feathers and succeeded in pissing it off. She rolled her eyes heavenward as the tiny turtle let out a cry as the bird dived for him, losing his shades and rocking around on his back like an idiot. Mother-hen Freya defended the squirtle like a lion would defend its cub while Elaine jogged over with an empty pokeball in hand.

Freya countered the gobsmacked bird with gusts while Hopscotch helped Boss to his feet with her vines. Once the avian was humiliated once more by getting out-flown by its natural prey, Elaine put her old-world PoGo skills to test and chucked the ball, hitting the pidgeotto square in the belly. It shook thrice before capturing and immediately teleporting into her PPC.

“Gotcha.”

Elaine looked over at her newest pokemon with a raised eyebrow, one the squirtle returned with a blank, unrepentant stare. The little shit. “If you’re that ornery still, let's go find some more trainers to fight.” The sun was getting lower in the sky as well, and she was sure that dinner wouldn’t be too late in the evening. She still had time to meet the captain for HM Cut and get a few more battles in. She wanted her errands done before focusing on Sakaki.

She had barely turned the corner of the only corridor she’d yet to investigate before nearly running into Trace, her abrupt stop causing Kyuukun to crash into her heels. She sent a mental apology to the little fox as he zipped back into his ball. The little shiny really didn’t do well around Trace after their first meeting.

“Whoa, sorry Elaine!” Trace put his hands back on her shoulder as if to steady her, an action she didn’t think necessary but didn’t have the heart to knock them away.

“It’s ok.” she quickly stuttered, her first three sentences dying in her throat. Vivi waved her paw at the boy in greeting.

“You see those stairs behind me? The captain’s quarters are up there.” he said once he took a step back out of her space. “He could teach you this cool secret technique if you ask him. He’s really famous for it!” The boy grinned and mimed holding a sword in front of him.

Huh. Not a HM, but a secret technique? Was the hidden move cut something different here? “Like, he taught you? Or a pokemon move?” she asked softly.

“Both! He’s a swordmaster as well as a captain, and offered to teach one of my pokemon some moves and forms since I didn’t look responsible to hold a blade or something.”

Thank god this captain had a brain. She liked Trace, but the thought of the boy carrying around a sword or machete gave her chills. “Cool…I’ll go talk to him and see if he can teach one of my pokemon…” Elaine went to go around him, when he suddenly held his arm out to block her path.

“Wait, how about I see how your team’s been doing? Let’s have a battle!” he said with an excited smile.

She considered it. One of her pokemon was making their pokeball shake in her bag, and she had a good idea on who it was. Elaine nodded, already swinging her bag around to grab Boss. “Okay. Are we battling right here? We’ll have to hold back if we do…”

Trace thought about it before nodding. “Yeah, that might make the win more deserved, you know? If we focus on not damaging our surroundings while we fight.”

Whatever floats your boat, kid. She backed up a few paces and threw her squirtle out, already thinking about strategies that won’t cost them a fine in damages.

“Three on three?” she called.

“Yeah! Go, pidgeotto!”

The fight was meant to be, after all. Boss was shooting a scalding jet of water at the avian before his feet had fully formed on the carpet, his aim following the bird’s flight pattern just like that wild one. The large avian slammed into the tiny turtle with a wing attack, zipping around the jet of water on its way.

Trace commanded it to keep using wing-attack, while she told Boss to wait to scald it until it was closer. She saw burns peeking from under the pidgeotto’s plumage and knew they just needed to stall. Boss withdrew into his shell on the pidgeotto’s last swipe, only skidding across the floor a bit before the bird finally fell in exhaustion. Aside from some slight water damage on the carpets and walls, there was no signs of a battle so far.

1-0.

Trace sent out an oddish next, while Elaine went with her vulpix. It would be good training to fight without using fire-moves. Kyuukun stood still once he was released, having enough discipline not to attack without command yet. One day, Elaine hoped the fox would have enough experience to make the first move without her input like her butterfree or Vivi when she felt forced to fight.

She started with will-o-wisp, wanting to whittle down its health as much as possible in this fight of endurance. She could only have him use quick-attack, since everything else would damage the boat.

That was the plan until Trace had his oddish use sleep-powder as soon as Kyuukun got close enough to not be able to avoid the roofie cloud. He fell asleep before he could even make it back towards her side of the hall and Elaine was forced to recall him.

1-1.

Maybe if Kyuu was a little faster, he could have evaded the cloud but what was done was done. That was the best they could do with their options right now. She was sure the vulpix would be racing her nimble eevee at their next training session without Elaine’s input.

Speaking of, Vivi jumped off her head onto the impromptu battlefield as soon as Trace’s starter was out of its ball.

“Vivi?” Elaine said, surprised. The pokemon hated fighting, so this was a surprise.

It gave a hop and a cry that the pikachu joined in on, both looking like they were ready to play instead of battling. Huh.

“I guess they missed each other!” Trace laughed before pointing at Vivi dramatically. “Quick attack, pikachu!”

Unlike her other pokemon, Elaine very rarely had to tell Vivi what moves to use. She didn’t need direction most of the time (also because her partner didn’t like to fight normally and Elaine respected that) and showed that now as it used a move that Elaine dubbed ‘buzzy buzz’ as soon as the pikachu made contact, shocking the electric-type both mentally and physically. While the pikachu stood there trying to endure the lingering shockwaves, Elaine told Vivi to use the bite attack to knock it out.

2-1. She had another victory against her supposed rival. Even with the restrictions…it was boring.

“Whoa! I can’t believe it! Did your eevee just use an electric move on us?” Trace exclaimed, gawking.

“Yeah, I don’t know how she keeps learning these new moves.” Elaine admitted once she got closer to the boy. Vivi hopped into her arms with all the debonair of a pokemon that knew she was being gossiped about but didn’t give a damn. “Good fight.”

“Yeah…” Trace looked down at the shadowed space between their shoes as he handed over her prize money. He had the same contemplating expression on his face that was normal after spending more than ten minutes with her.  “You’ve gotten pretty strong, Elaine…you really are different now…”

She felt ice creep down her spine. Was this where he finally confronted her? Did he suspect something? “What?”

Trace looked back up at her like she’d snuck up on him. “Oh, uh, nothing! It’s cool, that's all!” He adjusted his bag strap and hurried past her. “Anyway, go meet the captain and have him show you his secret technique! I’m going to heal up my team and see if dinner is ready!” He didn’t look back once.

Elaine almost felt vulnerable without Vivi with her. The little eevee had literally waved her off when trying to pull her away from the captain's room, so she assumed that Vi would be fine by herself for a bit. She was strong, and very quick-witted; if anyone gave her trouble or tried to steal her, Elaine honestly feared for them.

She didn’t really have any other clothes to wear but was relieved to see everybody else dressed casually. She had tucked her hat into her bag for this and thankfully she didn’t look out of place. Hell, the stuffy old man in a suit and top hat of all things looked to be the oddball in the room.

The only other person to stand out was…

“Elaine! I saved you a seat.”

She snapped her eyes on the absolute Daddy™ holding his hand up in greeting a few yards next to the door of the large dining room, her cheeks feeling warm just looking at him in the cozy looking corner. It looked like he’d gone out of his way to save a table just for them, a fact that Elaine tried really hard not to read into. “Thanks, Sakaki.”

His dark eyes dropped down her body for a moment, almost too quick to catch. Elaine felt goosebumps erupt over her skin and let her smile grow. “How were the rest of your battles?”

“Rewarding.” She said, sitting in the chair he pulled out for her. Two glasses of what looked like champagne were set out on both sides of the table, and Elaine left hers alone. The old her could drink without losing her head, but not in this body. She wasn’t even sure she was old enough to drink yet - was it eighteen or twenty-one like in her world? “How about you? Did your meeting go well?”

“It was…informative.” He seemed to want to elaborate, but the captain hit his glass at the front of the room, signalling a speech.

The man was long winded and called out many in the room that he knew as he spoke, mostly likely pandering to the rich and his benefactors. With a quick look around the room, Elaine deduced that Sakaki and the captain were the only familiar faces. Trace must have left altogether to get fast food in the city. She was letting the rusty voice drone over her head while she watched Sakaki out of the corner of her eye, and noticed that he was doing the same. She gave him a coy glance from under her lashes, working up her charm. She was delighted to see him fully look at her then, but didn’t show that he was affected by her flirting. He didn’t have to; his actions spoke louder than any words. Elaine worked to keep her triumph off of her face.

“Where is your little eevee? Back in its ball?” he asked, keeping his voice low for only her to hear. She feigned not hearing him, and forced him to have to move his head closer and repeat the question. His cologne filled her senses, making her already heady brain worse from her desire for him.

“No, she’s in the Captain’s quarters.” She was most likely napping, but Elaine didn’t begrudge her for that. “My bulbasaur evolved.” She revealed with pride. “She’s just as listless as ever though.”

“Congratulations.” He said with a smile. “You really are a talented trainer.”

She grinned bashfully at the compliment and started in on her entree. After taking a few bites and watching Sakaki wash down his own, she asked, “So what do you do for a living, Sakaki?”

“I work for the league. Investigations and administration.” He replied after setting his glass down. His fingers laced together on the table and gave her a small smile. Elaine had a feeling in her gut that she was being evaluated, like a wolf watches a rabbit before pouncing. She shook the unsettling thought away and the dip in his voice snagged her attention back as he continued. “Mostly I travel and make sure gyms are following the regulations, and as long as I meet my monthly quotas, I make my own schedule.”

That was very interesting. The games never went into that kind of detail, and honestly, Elaine didn’t blame them. Kids don’t care about that stuff, they want to catch pokemon and fight. Now that she was living in the world, however…

“So, you go and make sure their pokemon are at the right level for the trainers that come to get badges?” She asked.

Sakaki’s lips twitched up into a smirk. “For the most part, yes. I also investigate their employees and review how many badges have been rewarded between visits. Thankfully, there’s hardly been any red flags during my career; most gym leaders inherited their ranks from their family or were groomed to take the position straight out of school, so they know the rules.”

“That’s not true with Surge, right? He took over the gym a few years ago after moving here from Unova.” She had read that with difficulty early that morning when attempting to scope out the gym. “Does that process work with an interview with the league?”

“Basically. Research and tests would need to be done before anything is finalized, of course. Being a gym leader is a powerful and influential position, after all.”

Elaine made a noise of agreement and took one last bite of her meal, thinking over his words. It was no wonder why Giovanni went so long being undiscovered as basically the pokemon mob boss (or was it yakuza??) for so long. Nobody even knew his name or his face in the games or even the anime, and she had yet to find any information on him here, either. His name and Viridian City were some of the first words she learned to read. Wait…

She quickly looked up at Sakaki just as he finished off his glass. “So…if you go around and check in on all the gym leaders, that means that you know the Viridian leader, right?”

His gaze grew sharp, the look in his maroon eyes halting her breath in her lungs. Elaine felt like she was walking a tightrope all of a sudden - or being held at knife-point by the ledge of a tall building. Did…was Sakaki in with Team Rocket? Or at least have an inkling about what Giovanni was up to when he wasn’t doing his official job?

“Why do you want to know them, hm?” He asked with an easy smile. It didn’t match the look in his eyes whatsoever.

Elaine raised her brows a bit. “I went to Viridian first for my first badge, but the gym was closed - and not a single person in town could tell me when the leader would be back to challenge so I had to pass it up and go to Pewter. Does he do that often? Just close up shop and do whatever?” she asked curiously, only lying somewhat.

He raised a thin brow in return, looking peculiar about something she’d said. “The Viridian gym leader is often only there at the end of each month to fill his quota. Even then, he very rarely lets any challenger with less than six badges attempt to fight him.”

“Is that allowed?” She asked, not really bothered by the information but wondering how that worked all the same. She was already prepared to fight the man at the end of her journey, but wondered about the process all the same.

“Sure,” Sakaki shrugged. “As long as he’s following the guidelines and meeting quotas, it's allowed.” His lips stretched into a friendly smile as he filled her empty glass with water. “It’ll be the final week of this month starting tomorrow…do you plan to take diglett tunnel back to Viridian after defeating Surge?”

“Thank you,” she said, her smile coming easier now that his demeanor was back to what she knew. “No, I think I’ll swing back and get that badge last. My mother wants me to come home for a few days before I enter the indigo tournament anyway.” Elaine couldn't help the downturn of her lips. “She worries, so it’s the least that I could do for the woman.”

“Is she your adopted mother? Or did you just start living with her?” He shook his head wryly and gave her an apologetic smile. “I’m sorry, that was insensitive. I only asked because of the way you talk about her.”

She clicked her tongue at the blunder. He was right, and Elaine spoke to him like an old friend instead of a man she’d just met earlier that day, attraction or not, he would find her comment odd. “It’s okay, it’s not your fault. My situation with my friends and family is…strange, at the moment.” She shrugged, and took a sip. Sakaki didn’t press her for the details; only hummed in acceptance and drummed his fingers on the table, his family ring clinking against wood.

Elaine took a deep breath and decided to just tell him; what was the worst that could happen? He decided that he didn’t want anything to do with a girl with ‘memory issues’ and stopped flirting with her? Elaine wanted to bang him, but her world wouldn’t end if this ruined this thing between them. He was just an attractive man she met on a cruise ship before it sailed out of the region.

“Actually, could I be honest with you for a second?” She asked, lacing her fingers together on the table in front of her. It took considerable effort not to twiddle her thumbs in nervousness.

“Of course,” he replied instantly, mirroring her actions and leaning forward. He looked earnest but patient, reminding her of her guidance counselor back from before, especially when they knew that she’d been up to some fuck shit.

“Everyone in my life is a stranger to me. I woke up from that accident I mentioned before and didn’t know anyone.” She revealed. “The woman they sent me home with is apparently my mother, and the boy that barges into my house and bedroom whenever he wants is apparently my best friend since I was three.”

Sakaki's face showed a little surprise. “Really? How awful.” He reached over and laid his hand on both of hers. It engulfed them both. “I’m sorry to hear that, Elaine. I couldn’t imagine going through that.”

“It’s tough, that’s for sure.” She laughed shortly.

“I take it that was why you were surprised about Diglett tunnel linking Pewter and Vermillion.” He stated, sounding as if he’d just remembered their first conversation.

“Yes,” she confirmed with a wry smile. “Having a map helps, but I feel like an idiot asking directions that I should know the answers to. I vaguely remember the area between Pallet Town and Viridian, but everything else is brand new aside from some key buildings and landmarks.” Which was true.

He asked her a few questions that weren’t new for her, but held a curiosity that wasn’t present when her friends and mother talked to her with the local doctor. He wasn’t frantic to recover who Elaine was, he just wanted the facts. He didn’t look at her like he was preparing to write her eulogy when she told him that she had forgotten how to read and write both the common and local language, and only squeezed her hands in his own when she revealed that she didn’t even recognize her own body for the first couple of days.

“I think…I think that my mother has started to resent that I can’t remember her but can recall meaningless facts about pokemon and random people I barely know or haven’t met. I don’t know why my brain is doing this, but it isn’t my fault.” she said, looking down at their joined hands. Guilt bubbled up at the unavoidable lies mixed with truth.

She had no proof of her claims, of course, but she wouldn’t blame the woman. She knows way too many facts about Professor Oak and celebrities around the world like Cynthia and Lance, but didn’t know her own mother or best friend? She even knew Blue Oak, a boy older than her that she had never met until she had beaten Brock. Elaine couldn’t say that she’d met them in an old video game though, could she?

“I’m sure she’s just having a difficult time.” Sakaki said, not sounding like he was refuting her claim but also not pandering to what she was saying.

“I know. But it’s still irritating to see all of these people close to me look at me like I’m a ghost. I only feel like myself when I’m on my own.” Her voice dropped just above a whisper, genuinely worried that Trace would pop up randomly and overhear her. “I don’t even want my memories back at this point. I like who I am since leaving Pallet, and the friends I’ve made.” She glanced up and gave Sakaki a quick smile. “Both human and pokemon.”

“As you should,” he returned her smile and let go of her hands. “You’re an adult now, loss of memories or not. I can see that clearly, and anyone who does not doesn’t truly see you for who you are.”

“And what’s that?” she asked breathily, looking at him with surprise. Her heart beat faster at the intensity of his gaze.

“A remarkable and beautiful young woman, with the skill to take the indigo league by storm.” He said with finality, as if the words he spoke were now written in stone and sure to come to pass. Irrefutable.

It took everything not to lean across the table and kiss him.

“Yeah, well, so far from my experience, that shouldn’t be too hard. Misty and Brock were boring as hell, and I don’t have much hope for Surge.” She bit her lip and shot him a quick grin. “Uh, not that I’m talking down the league’s process. Or boasting. I’m really not-oh, forget I said anything. That didn’t sound good in any light.” Especially after the wonderful things he just said about her and her career.

“I keep getting this ringing in my ears.” Was Sakaki’s dead-pan reply.

Elaine burst into giggles, quickly covering her mouth with her hands as heads turned. His smile grew sharp and his eyes darkened as they gazed at her.

“Do you want to join me for some fresh air out onto the deck, Elaine?”

Yes,” She burst, standing up quickly and couldn’t fight the flush erupting over her face at Sakaki’s shark’s grin at her response.

Elaine’s mind remained on loop during the walk to the deck. He’d called her remarkable. Beautiful. Words that she hadn’t heard to describe herself in this life yet. Cute, for sure. Beautiful woman that would demolish the pokemon league? Elaine felt like she had been downright glazed.

The halls were empty aside from a stray busboy pushing a cart loaded with dishes. She walked side by side with the man on her mind, not close enough to be touching but he was on her radar regardless. The fact that he stayed a step behind her the entire way made her confidence waver, and wondered if he did so to look at her undetected. His character so far wouldn’t make her think so, but he was a man. A man she’d been flirting with unabashedly all day.

It was a beautiful night, the deck completely void of people aside from them. Perfect. Elaine felt his hand on her lower back as he gently led her to the left side of the deck, away from the light of the ship and further into the darkness. Her heart beat faster in anticipation.

They both stood side by side as they looked out into the open sea, his hand still on her back. She rested her arms on the railing and breathed in the cool night air, working up her courage. His thumb started to rub back and forth.

“I’m glad that I met you, Elaine.” He suddenly said, and Elaine turned her head to look up at him. He continued to look out into the sea, both of his hands fidgeting against her back and on the railing.

“You too, daddy.” she said, and it was only when his head whipped around to stare at her incredulously that she realized what she’d said.

Oops.

“What did you say?” That raw intensity that seemed to seep from his very pores was nearly suffocating. His hand had dropped from her back.

It was far too late to take back what she’d said, even if she wanted to. She’d blurted out something that she was too embarrassed to utter out loud more than twice before, and she’d shamelessly thrown herself over the cliff with no way of knowing how he’d react to it. What if he was a father? How fucking awkward would that be? She probably just ruined whatever chemistry she’d felt brewing.

Sakaki turned fully and stepped towards her, causing the feeling of being prey in the line of sight of a hunter roared to life. Two feet away became one, which then became inches. She backed up until she felt the muted chill of the wooden railing against her shoulder blades. She gulped, looking up at those dark eyes, black as obsidian and just as sharp.

“Say it again.” The words were nearly a growl, his already impossibly deep voice sounding like a black hole that would suck her in and devour her.

Elaine’s head was getting fuzzy and cloudy but the words still rang in her head like a gunshot. “...what?” her voice felt so impossibly small. She could barely make the words out over the sound of her heartbeat.

“I said, say it again.” It was like the sound of the waves and the low cacophony of party-goers inside the ship had become victims to the black hole with how muted everything around her suddenly was. Even the sound of her own heartbeat was practically nonexistent compared to Sakaki’s presence consuming her.

She swallowed dryly, willing herself to answer him, to take responsibility for her thoughtless words. “...Daddy…” Elaine couldn’t keep the provocative tone out of her voice when she repeated it, and her reward for her taunt was his lips on hers.

The noise of shock that fled her already parted lips was devoured by his hungry mouth along with her ability to think. Elaine was frozen as the man towered over her, kissing her deeply and roughly. Sakaki’s hands gripped the rail on either side of her and as a reaction to becoming trapped Elaine’s own raised to grip the soft fabric of his cashmere shirt. She could feel solid abs pressing against her knuckles as the man took another step closer, his knee slipping between her legs. At least two vertebrae in her back popped as her head was pushed back an inch from his ongoing assault.

All at once her brain caught up with the moment, like a computer finally rebooting itself past the startup screen. Elaine whined against his mouth, pressing herself into him. This was what she’d wanted for hours, damn near since meeting him on the dock. This was the perfect temporary escape from her new reality, and she needed him like she needed air.

Sakaki pulled away after the first few swipes of her tongue against his. “Done playing games, babygirl?” the man drawled, that smirk deepening on his moist lips at her silence.

Oh fuck. Her whole body went molten-hot, her gaping mouth making her resemble a fish out of water. ‘Babygirl’ was a new one for her, but by the way sparks zipped through her core, it was something that worked for her. Elaine swallowed, the look on his face stopping her from saying anything too bratty. He looked like he was waiting for an excuse to punish her for any more cheek, and that thought really shouldn’t turn her on as much as it did.

“I’m flattered,” she said weakly. “Here was me thinking that saying that would make you hate my guts.”

His eyes narrowed. “You don’t know me that well.” He said slowly, as if informing her of an issue she hadn’t thought about. As if reminding her that they literally met hours ago.

It still didn’t dampen the boiling desire she felt when one of those big hands left the rail to wrap around her waist. His thigh pressed just a little more into her, but it was enough to make her clit throb. “Does that bother you?” she asked, tilting her chin up and giving him a thin-lipped smile.

Sakaki closed his eyes for a moment before letting out a short chuckle. “No.” Those predatory eyes were back as his face drew close enough to bump noses with her. Elaine’s face had to be bright red, because she was burning. Briefly, she had to wonder what was going on through his head. He may be thinking about how morally wrong this was, an older man kissing a barely-legal young woman that looked like jailbait. And considering he didn’t start kissing her until she called him ‘daddy’...

It didn’t matter, anyway. Just like her, she knew that his body was making decisions for him by the outline of his cock against his jeans; thick and hot against her hip. “Good.” she said before snaking a hand around the nape of his neck and pecked his lips.

Sakaki shifted his hips back and thrust forward, more sharply this time compared to the subtle rocking he was doing while plundering her mouth. They both breathed hard at the friction. Elaine was sure that her arousal would bleed through the thin material of her shorts and stain his denim at this rate. His mouth descended onto hers once more, hot and wet and adding nips of teeth. She responded immediately this time, her hand letting go of his shirt to grasp at his broad shoulder, hanging on for dear life as he moved against her. After an especially hard thrust that Elaine could swear rubbed right though her bottoms, he left her mouth with a low growl that practically liquidated her panties and kissed his way down her neck.

Pleasure rocketed up Elaine’s spine when Sakaki’s thigh pressed insistently against her. Her head was tugged backwards by her ponytail as Sakaki licked the notch at her throat and slid a hand underneath her shirt. Goosebumps broke out over her skin at the contact and she couldn’t help but flinch a bit at the as his hand caressed the entirety of her belly. The man chuckled at her reaction, and instead of asking if she was alright or for permission to continue, his hand continued up past her ribs to palm her tit through her bra. Elaine shivered, arching her back as much as possible from her bent position to get more of that warm hand on her chest. Heavy breaths escaped her swollen lips and her hips ground down on his erection faster, her thighs twitching as Sakaki pushed at the edge of her cotton cupline to thumb at her nipple.

Oh fuck,” she moaned softly, not expecting how good that felt. She’d never had sensitive nipples before when her tits actually drew eyes for being almost in the D-cup.

There was a responding groan from Sakaki, reverberating against her sternum and sending more zips of arousal down to her clit. A finger hooked into her bra and dragged the cups down until her tit spilled out, and his mouth immediately found its prize through the material of her shirt. Elaine was panting harder than ever now, saying encouragement and praise for the man as he continued to rile her up so well. She prayed she wasn’t loud enough for any stragglers wanting a smoke or breath of fresh air to hear if they wandered close to the exit.

Her belly swooped as he sucked and bit at her nipple, his other hand letting go of her hair to grip her hip and rock her against his thigh. Elaine could taste how close she was, it had her tightly-strung, grinding shamelessly on his thigh like it would erase the fact that they were basically rutting at each other in public. She was so close, she just needed that peak to crest and send her into bliss.

“C’mon, fuck. Fuck, please,” it came out soft and low as she fought to cum on his leg. His hold on her almost became painful. “I’m almost there, Sakaki-”

Sakaki left her chest and came within kissing distance again. “Touch yourself.” he commanded, voice low and deep as the marianas trench. His damp lips brushed against hers with each word.

She immediately let go of his neck to shove her hand into her shorts, rubbing her throbbing clit in two tight circles before finally falling off of that cliff, cumming so hard she had to stop breathing lest she scream. Her toes curled in her shoes so hard that her feet started to hurt, and her thighs clenched around his. She didn’t even need to flick her bean to get off there; his voice was enough fuel for that spark to finally ignite. The man’s voice was pure sex.

And he was just as hard against her hip as he was five minutes ago. And he was staring at her, standing completely immoble while she came down, but kept up that bruising pressure against her clenching cunt. There was no way her panties weren’t ruined after that.

Elaine let out a long, exhausted breath as he finally eased her down off of his thigh, her heels touching the ground for the first time in several long minutes. He didn’t say another word as he lifted her dirty hand to his mouth, still damp from her contribution and kissed her fingers. The almost romantic notion was completely at odds with the dangerous look in his eyes. A look that said he was hungry and had his meal already in his grasp. A look that said she may not come out of the encounter without some bruises. It shouldn’t make her excited.

“I didn’t expect this when we walked out here,” Sakaki rumbled. Elaine felt her knees wobble a bit.

“That makes one of us,” she replied, smirking. Then, after a beat, the smirk fell and she looked up at him imploringly. “It’s what I hoped for, anyway.”

“Did you now?” he hummed, holding her jaw firmly, as if she was going to leave.

Elaine opened her mouth a bit, teasingly licking her lips. Her hands went to the fly of his jeans while he was distracted, unbuckling and unzipping while Sakaki tried to catch up. The poor man’s brain clearly didn’t have enough blood to process her pacing. He didn’t ask her if she was sure, bless him. He silently urged her to her knees, his hand on her lower face falling away.

“Is this a memory you retained?” He asked, something in his voice making her face heat up as she pulled the front of his black boxer briefs down enough to bunch under his sac.

“Who knows?” She sighed after a few fluttering heartbeats, staring transfixed at the cock mere inches from her face. He was an angry red and so erect that it must have been just shy of painful. He was average length, but thick. With their size difference, he would feel huge inside her, she bets. Aside from the soft-looking downy hair dusting his balls, he was clean shaven; from the tantalizing v-line to his stiff cock. Something she’d never personally laid eyes on, but already liked. Elaine was looking forward to not having any shorthairs tickling her nose as she took him as deep as possible.

Her eyes flickered up to his heavy gaze as she reached out to grab his hand again, guiding it back to her head. She didn’t let go until she felt his fingers tangled in her ponytail, the broad palm of his hand cradling the back of her head. “You’ll have to show me how you like it - in case I’ve never done this before, you know?”

It was impossible to miss the way his eyes dilated, even from his feet.

Without wasting any more time, she parted her lips against his head, her tongue darting out to taste him. He leaked onto her tongue instantly and his other hand came up to join the one cupping the back of her head. The sweet and salty flavor of him filled her mouth, and she widened her mouth to suck him deeper. His fingers combed against her scalp, tugging at her hair, encouraging her. She flattened her tongue, took him in deeper, and tried to keep her lips plush and tight as her head moved. She’d never been a master at this, and her self-consciousness threatened to raise her heart rate, but after the amazing orgasm he’d just given her, she had to try to reciprocate.

Elaine assumed that she was doing a good job; despite the lack of sweet nothings she’d normally get from a partner by now. He groaned under his breath and his dick twitched from her ministrations, and when she finally grew brave enough, she opened her eyes and looked up at him. He looked calm and collected for the most part, but there's a dark beast curling the edges of his features, more wild than before when she rode his thigh. Sakaki bared his teeth and jerked his hips forward a bit, making her gag. He hissed through his teeth and his composure shattered with a pleased twist of his chiseled brow.

Elaine didn’t stop. Sakaki’s fingers tightened in her hair painfully.

The eye-contact seemed to loosen his tongue, because he started sighing and growling things that made her sore cunt start to clench. “Ah, good girl…is this what you thought about all day, when you were blushing? Did you like thinking of me fucking your pretty mouth?”

She moaned at the words, relieved when his hips started hitching forward more.

“If you like this, I wonder what else you might like?” he pondered, his voice growing more breathless by the moment. Her core clenched at the scenarios blooming in her mind, planted by his lustful words. She eased him deeper with shallow, incremental bobs. Elaine focused on breathing, even as his other hand came down to lightly caress her jaw. She loosened her throat with each forward movement, until she was confident enough to fully take him. Her nose pressed against the hard plane of his pelvis and swallowed.

Sakaki uttered a sharp curse, and both hands fisted in her ponytail, holding her head there for a moment longer before allowing Elaine to pull back and take a breath.

“You don’t seem to need much direction, baby. I think there might be a reason your little friend Trace was so comfortable going in and out of your room.” He laughed, his voice husky.

The comment hurt, whether he intended for it to or not. She couldn’t fault him for making the assumption; this body had zero experience in this she was sure, but he had no way of knowing that. Thinking that about her and Trace made sense.

She scowled at him as much as possible from her position regardless. He dispelled most of her anger at the comment by the affectionate way his lips creased. She hummed, long and hard, wiping the smirk off of his face.

Giving him no time to recover, Elaine worked her mouth and tongue over him in a steady, indulgent rhythm. She heard him breathe hard above her, but all she focused on was his hot and heavy cock in her mouth, and that each sound she managed to wring from him is even better than the last. Each one becomes a little more rough, more deep, and more unhinged.

Her hands reached around to palm his ass, finally doing what she’d been imagining every time he turned around. She ran her hands down his toned thighs once before going back up and squeezing.

“Good girl, Elaine.” he praised, wrapping her ponytail around his fist. Then, he snapped his hips forward.

Elaine wasn’t ready for the fat, blunt hit at the back of her throat, and gagged at the sudden intrusion. A needy whine that sounded nothing like her followed.

She barely had time to relax her throat and jaw before Sakaki started to fuck into her mouth as he wanted. Harsh enough to send tears streaming down her face, but nothing she couldn’t handle. Unbidden, the thought of another using her like this came to mind; Sakaki was replaced by a dark silhouette of a man of similar build, his features nondescript…aside from the blazing red ‘R’ on the front of his chest.

Guilt washed through her even as her pussy gushed at the fantasy, that Giovanni was fucking his enemy’s throat after defeating her in a battle. Elaine moaned, which in turn made Sakaki give out a series of broken grunts. Elaine’s wet thighs press together, another needy moan muffled by the weight of him sliding between her lips. She gazed up at him through her wet lashes and tried to come back to who she was with, a sexy man with a good head on his shoulders in this alien world she’d been dropped into. He was kind, even if he looked hard, and deserved her full attention.

There was a wild zeal in his black eyes that went straight to her head, faster than that mediocre champagne ever could, and his lips curl back over his teeth as his rhythm becomes erratic. A few strands of hair fall forward, dark and disheveled against his brow. She smoothed her hands up beneath his sweatshirt, pressing against the sweat damp skin of his lower back.

Her nails dug in, and he buried himself to the hilt.

Elaine swallowed around him, the flex of her throat making Sakaki’s head snap back in pleasure. He came in long spurts down her throat; smooth and rich. She ran her tongue along the pulsing veins until he’s panting and loosening his iron grip on her head. She let him go, before wiping her mouth and tears clean with the bottom of her shirt. His stare was like a physical weight on the top of her head as she tucked him back into his underwear and jeans, doing up his button and zipper before standing with ruddy knees.

His maroon eyes were half-lidded, and his chest rises and falls heavily still. If she didn’t know any better, she might think it was awe that slackened his features ever so slightly.

“Not bad for my first time?” she asked, voice hoarse.

“Remarkable, if that’s the truth.”

“According to everybody I’ve ever known, I never showed interest in anyone before the accident, so I’d say yes.” she said, giving him a flat look.

He hummed in thought, still gazing down at her. Amusement flickered in his eyes as they swept up to her hair. She was sure that it was a mess and gave away exactly what she’d been up to while gone. She looked down at herself and tried not to cringe. Her shirt was damp from both her own spit and his, and looked downright promiscuous with how it was still unzipped and askew enough to show her bra. Combined with her soaked panties, damp shorts, and swollen lips, she probably painted a perverted picture.

While she was busy fixing her appearance to be more decent, Sakaki had pulled her hair out of its ponytail and was combing his fingers through the thick strands, attempting to fix his own handiwork. She gave him a small smile before taking the elastic back. “Thanks,” she whispered, quickly tying her hair back up and fluffing her bangs.

Elaine bit her lip, looking up at him. She wasn’t sure what to do now…did she offer to continue this? As much as she wanted to, she wasn’t sure how at the moment. She was staying at the pokemon center, a rented room she had no intention of sneaking a grown man into. She could ask him if he had a hotel room, or if he even wanted to continue after getting his rocks off. Elaine didn’t want to lose her virginity out on the deck of a boat, that was for sure.

Would he be interested in keeping in touch and having…a next time?

Just as she opened her mouth to ask, his attention riveted on her, fate decided for her.

A cacophony of voices coming from the exit, the soft light illuminating the wood of the dock shadowed by the clutter of party goers taking their examples.

Elaine huffed in annoyance, while Sakaki glared at the approaching interruption.

Thank goodness they didn’t come out five minutes ago. Or even ten.

“I’m going to go find a bathroom.” she told him, giving him a lopsided smile when his gaze snapped back to her. He opened his mouth with a frown on his face, but Elaine didn’t want to hear what he was going to say. She quickly leaned up on her toes and kissed him, and felt tears gather at how quickly he reciprocated. She escaped into the throng of people, and grit her teeth when Nicki of all people called out, “Hey, handsome! Isn’t it so romantic out here?”

Elaine didn’t want to see it. She skipped finding a bathroom, went to collect her napping eevee and her bag and fled.

Giovanni POV

He couldn’t keep his sneer off of his face as he shook the blond nuisance off and quickly strode through the crowd towards the door. He had already lost sight of Elaine, the short girl practically vanishing before his eyes in a sea of people. He chased her regardless, walking quickly to try to catch her as she left the bathroom. If the room was a personal bathroom, he would lock the door and take her there.

His plans of tossing her overboard were completely dead in the water now, the only thing on his mind was having her. Giovanni would probably regret it later when he was thinking more clearly, but fucking the obviously interested girl and seducing her into Team Rocket sounded like the best course of action. Especially since she had already tried to join his team in Cerulean, and was denied. He would rectify that immediately, and formerly offer her a job after he made her cum on his cock.

She wasn’t in any of the bathrooms he could find, all of them empty. He located and easily broke into the Captain’s office where her eevee supposedly was, and saw nothing.

Elaine had left, most likely returning to her rented room in Vermillion.

Giovanni ran a hand over his hair, slicking errant strands back into position as he glowered at nothing. He had to remember; Elaine was young, just turning eighteen - despite her maturity and her ability to blow him like she’d been paid to do it. It was possible that she’d had second thoughts and became embarrassed and chose to flee instead of risk the rewards of taking things further. He couldn’t fault her for this line of thinking, he was a much older stranger she had just met hours ago.

Understanding her actions wouldn’t excuse her running from him, though. Or save her. He knew her now, more intimately than he had planned too, and fully intended to learn more. He would return to base and plot for their next meeting - and prepare for inevitable confrontation. He couldn’t stop the sharp grin forming on his face at the thought. He couldn’t wait to see how strong she would be in time, and fully intended to have more than a taste.
