Chapter 1: Dear Diary, I met a pretty girl today...

Chapter Text

"Hmm," A girl with black hair and red glasses flipped their pencil to erase part of their sketch of the landscape. "That's not right…"

The artist chewed on their pencil as they stared at the lake of a 'secret spot' they found past the trees of the local park. It seemed as though hardly anyone had been there, and the statue overlooking the water was the perfect subject for their drawing.

I've been doing a lot of landscape sketches, they mumbled to themself while fidgeting with the drawstring of their hoodie, diagonally striped with different shades of grey. But what can ya do when you don't know anyone to draw a portrait of…

They walked closer to the lake, examining the statue; it had two pillars making up an arch, with engravings that were lost to time. As they admired the subject, they noticed bubbles on the surface of the lake, and before they can react—

"GASP," A girl with bright blue hair wearing a dark blue, one-piece swimsuit emerged from the water. She wiped her eyes as she looked at the raven-haired girl. "Oh hi! Didn't expect to see anyone here... hehe..."

"Uhhh… S-Same here." The artist tried to compose themself as best they could.

"I'm Cris! Just thought I'd swim here since no one seems to be around."

"I'm—"

"WAIT—don't tell me!" Cris interrupted. "If I remember right, it's... Min...dy..?"

"Close enough..." They were flattered she knew that much. "I—I'm Mincy."

"Darn... Sorry, I'm not the best at names, hehe..." The blue-haired girl got up from the water and sat on the ledge.

"How did you even know me?" The raven-haired girl sat cross-legged beside her. "Well, I guess it's not too far off for the captain of the swimming team to—to know a buncha people..."

"Hehe... It's a small town, what can I say?"

The air grew silent for a moment.

"Hey, you draw, right?" Cris asked.

"Uhh... Yeah, why?"

"Can I see? I've always seen you drawing, but I don't think I've ever seen your art."

"Y-Yeah, uhm... here, hold on..." Mincy flipped through their sketchbook to show the blue-haired girl select pieces, with various 'oooh's and 'woah's from the swimmer for each sketch.

"You do a lot of landscape art, don't you? Have you tried drawing portraits?"

"W-Well, a couple old ones" that i'd rather not show. "I'd draw more, b-but it's a little hard to find someone to be a subject..."

Cris put a finger on her lips and looked up in thought. "I could be your muse if you want!" She said with a smile as she looked back at Mincy.

[It hit right in the heart!]

"I wouldn't say I'm great at posing, but I'm willing to try if it'll help you out!" She continued

"Y-You really mean it?" Mincy replied.

"Of course! We could start tomorrow if you're free! I still gotta change outta these clothes... hehe..."

"O-Oh, yeah, I'll—I'll meet you again here tomorrow? Same time?"

"Yep! It's a date! Hehe..."

[It hit right in the heart! x2]

The two met up again at basically the same time, the raven-haired girl still wearing their grey hoodie, while the swimmer swapped to a red sweater with a print of a blue and white samurai, paired with black pants. They both gave their waves and greetings and sat at the blue picnic blanket—at Mincy's request—that someone left there.

"So I just sit down like this?" Cris asked.

"Y-Yeah," The artist replied. "You could just… look straight on."

The blue-haired girl locked her eyes on Mincy, giving them a gentle smile. The raven-haired girl hadn't examined her this closely before, so they observed everything they could about her; her blue hair showing blonde roots at the peak, swaying in the wind; her rosy cheeks and pronounced nose, framing her warm, kind smile; and her sparkling, emerald green eyes, showing a sense of admiration and awe—

[It hit right in the heart! x3]

"A-Actually—!" Mincy stammered. "C-Could you like—look off into the distance o-or something? Makes for a more—more interesting pose… haha—!"

"O-Oh, are you sure? I didn't make you uncomfortable, did I?"

"Pshhh… N-Nahhh."

"Hehe… If you say so!"

The artist cleared their throat and continued sketching…

This is a crush, isn't it?
