Hello Everyone, I was struck with inspiration for this series after I saw a video on YouTube and decided to write it, I hope you all enjoy it and thank you for reading.

Chapter One — The Enemy Who Lingers

I arrived ready for battle.

The night air shimmered faintly with the warmth of my starfire, my heart steady with purpose. She had been sighted near the old cathedral ruins same pattern, same signature of dark energy curling like velvet smoke.

I descended with practiced grace.

“Come out,” I called. “I do not wish for unnecessary conflict.”

A soft laugh answered me.

“You always say that,” she murmured.

She stepped into the moonlight, wings unfurling slowly behind her—deep crimson, almost black at the edges. Her eyes gleamed with something ancient and knowing, and for a moment I forgot to breathe.

A succubus.

I knew what she was. I knew what she represented. I should have struck immediately.

Instead, my feet remained rooted to the stone.

“You hesitate,” she said, tilting her head. “That’s new.”

“I am considering my options,” I replied, though my voice felt warmer than it should have.

She moved closer not threatening, not aggressive. Curious.

“You feel it too,” she said quietly. “That pull.”

“I feel many things,” I insisted.

Her fingers brushed mine.

The contact sent a spark racing through me bright, startling, far more powerful than any blow. My skin hummed. My breath caught.

Her eyes darkened, not with cruelty, but with restraint.

“Oh,” she whispered. “You shine so brightly when you want.”

I should have pulled away.

Instead, I leaned in.

Our kiss was soft, exploratory barely there at first. When our lips met fully, warmth bloomed in my chest, spreading outward until my whole body felt lit from within. She exhaled shakily against me, as though she were drawing something in… not taking, but receiving.

When we parted, her wings trembled.

“I won’t hurt you,” she said, suddenly serious. “Not if you don’t want me to.”

I stared at her, glowing softly in the dark.

“Then perhaps,” I said, heart racing, “we should speak again… instead of fighting.”

Her smile this time was slow. Reverent.

“I was hoping you’d say that, Starfire.”

And just like that, the line between enemy and something far more dangerous blurred.
