Chapter Text
1. The Mirage
Draco’s descent into madness had started with a foolish daydream.
The event was still fresh in his mind, engraved into his memory forever as the turning point of his life. Of course, at that time, he didn’t have the slightest idea of what he would be capable of doing. How much he would burn for her.
Now, he’d been completely consumed—all the remaining scraps of his sanity were being incinerated. There was nothing else left. His only choice was to open the vial and swallow the thick black potion.
This is the only way, he thought, pouring the liquid into his mouth.
It tasted horrible. But it wouldn’t take much longer for the bitterness to fade, giving space for the dizziness. He’d done everything with precision.
His head started to feel heavy, as did his eyes. He closed them and waited, numbness spreading through him. It worked! was his last conscious thought.
Although he could still feel the sour taste on his tongue, the sight of her materializing before him couldn’t have been sweeter.
