Chapter Text
♡
As the sun blissfully gleams above the prairies of Japan, you behold the ribbons of spring that gracefully unravel to gift a blanket of warmth, one that embraces your city with the tender cape of summer heat. The air is soft with a subtle fragrance of refreshing and you find that it enlightens the students of Aldera Junior Highschool with a certain radiance that no other season could bring forth.
It’s finally the end of the school day, and you are strained of energy as your only wish is to lay in bed at home.
You pack up your stationary within your seat, ignoring the lively chatters of your first-year classmates who care only enough to brush past your desk, knocking some of your drawing utensils onto the ground - you flinch in response.
It seems that summer had also brung a sense of carelessness, but perhaps that was a blessing - a blessing you did not receive as you remain your awkward, demure and diffident self.
Despite this, you have one peer you can call your friend. He kneels towards the ground to pick up your fallen pencils and returns them with a smile.
"Here," Midoriya Izuku states with tenderness, as if he were a newly blossomed tulip. You take the pencils back with gratitude.
"Thanks," You smile.
He is a very kind boy.
"Move it Deku!"
Bakugo Katsuki is anything but kind.
"S-Sorry Kacchan!" Izuku meekly apologises.
"Shut up, loser!" Kacchan replies.
Kacchan spares no glance towards you and you mentally sigh in relief.
But are you really that pathetic that he isn't willing to even acknowledge your existence?
It’s as if your presence is a speck of dust, wishing to get swept away by the tide to a new succession. But in a way, there's a sense of serenity about it. Having a fresh start, being able to go at your own pace-
“The hell are you starin’ at?!” He suddenly exclaims with an accusing tone. Perhaps you spoke too soon.
“Nothing…” You could only mumble, awkwardly averting your gaze.
“Yeah that’s what I thought, shitface!”
You don't like him at all.
"Ready to go?" Izuku asks nicely, brushing off the previous encounter as if it never happened.
"Yep," You respond with a smile.
You remind yourself that it doesn't matter. Kacchan doesn't matter.
A friend like Midoriya Izuku is all the validation you need.
And then, he shoots you a smile that's just so sweet and happy.
A smile that rivals the brightness of summer, the lush of the spring leftover and the vivacity of life itself. Whenever you think of the summer sun, you think of his smile, because it’s a smile that’s just so damn bright it could blind you.
You want to look away, to avoid developing the butterflies that remain cocooned upon slumber, but it's as if Izuku's kindness enriches metamorphosis. He has a beautifully bright smile that manages to ease the heavy in your heart, and you’re utterly mesmerised, so much that the apples of your cheeks is a normality to him.
You walk beside him bashfully out of class, yet he remains naive to your abundant adoration.
Once again, with your fluttering heart stammering against your chest, you remind yourself that a friend like Midoriya Izuku is all the validation you need.
A friend like Midoriya, huh....
