Chapter Text
Feeling excited for the upcoming Todoroki family vacation seemed just about impossible for Shoto Todoroki. Then again, it was always hard for Shoto to actually enjoy any time the family spent together, because most of the time it ended in a disaster. So how was this supposed to end differently?
The last thing Shoto wanted to do was spend his final summer before university with his whole family, especially his dad. And to make matters even worse, they were supposed to spend the whole month at a resort owned by none other, his father.
Enji Todoroki could be labeled as one of the worst fathers in history. He sent Shoto off to some prestigious boarding school, which he had to attend almost all his life. He dictated everything he did, wanting him to be this perfect son. Now, he expected him to attend this high-end, Ivy League university where he had to study business management so that he could follow in his father’s footsteps.
Once he graduated with his degree, his father expected him to take over and run one of the many companies he owned. Shoto did not want to do it. He was the youngest of four, two brothers and a sister, and he was the one who was his dad’s prime target.
According to his dad, they were all “failures”, and Shoto didn’t understand why. They were able to do whatever they wanted, and Enji Todoroki gave up controlling them. So why couldn’t Shoto do the same?
Even though Shoto was supposed to be the Todoroki’s trophy child, he sometimes enjoyed doing things that pissed his dad off. Moments like those helped him feel happy and in control, because most of the time he had no say in anything he did. He felt trapped.
During these times, Shoto was able to make friends, most of them from school. They were the ones to help him discover his own identity, so that he wasn’t drowning in the expectations of Enji Todoroki as well as society.
One of those friends was Izuku Midoriya, who was probably his best friend. He was the one who encouraged Shoto to become his own person, reminding him that he was nothing like his father. He might not have said it enough, but he greatly appreciated Midoriya’s encouragement.
Fortunately, his father allowed Shoto to bring Midoriya along on the vacation. It wasn’t until after he had made a big fuss about going in the first place, but he was a little less reluctant when his father begrudgingly said that he could invite a friend (preferably the one with the wild green hair as he had put it). Apparently his dad didn’t mind him, and it was probably because of all the insightful questions he constantly asked everyone, especially him.
Midoriya bubbled with excitement once he found out he was invited on an all-expenses-paid vacation at one of the high-end hotels owned by the Enji Todoroki. And to make it even better, it was the 5-star resort located at the beach, and Midoriya loved the beach.
Ever since Shoto invited him, Midoriya had talked non-stop about the trip. And he pestered him with questions about what to pack and what the itinerary was, because he did research on the place and found out there were a ton of activities to do.
As much as he loved Midoriya, he spent most of the time blocking out the yapping boy. There was so much information and words he could hear before he checked out.
By the time their flight rolled around, Shoto was dreading the whole ordeal. Midoriya and him met up with his family at their estate, and they all rode to the airport together. It was the first time Midoriya sat up in first class, and it was very apparent in the way he looked around in his seat in pure awe and excitement.
Shoto found himself smiling at the way his friend acted, and he was glad at least one of them looked forward to the trip. Touya and Natsuo sat in the two seats across the aisle from them, while their parents sat behind the brothers. Fuyumi occupied the seat behind Shoto, a stranger sitting next to her.
Shoto insisted Midoriya get the window seat because it was his first time, and the boy happily obliged. And then he listed all of the things they could do together during the flight, despite it only being a few hours.
“I brought my Switch,” Midoriya stated after the plane took off, pulling the device out of his backpack. “Do you wanna play a game with me?”
Shoto turned to look at the special edition Splatoon 3 Switch he gifted Midoriya for his birthday the previous year.
“What games did you bring?” Shoto asked curiously, leaning a little closer to Midoriya to get a better view of his game collection.
Midoriya went on to list all of his games, and they settled on playing Wingspan, because they wanted to play something relaxing yet fun. The green-haired boy turned in his seat and asked Fuyumi if she wanted to play, and then went as far as to ask the stranger sitting with her if they wanted to join as well.
Shoto was slightly envious of Midoriya’s people skills, because that was something he needed for his future career. And being charismatic and outgoing were some of the necessary qualities to be successful in that field. Shoto was the complete opposite: socially awkward and reserved.
Because they were having fun, the hours flew by in no time, and the next thing Shoto knew, they were in a car heading towards the resort.
Shoto stared out the window, watching the palm trees and beach houses pass by. There was a nice view of the crystal water behind them, the surface shimmering from the sunlight above it. Shoto probably would have been more excited if he came to visit himself. Or, perhaps, if a certain someone wasn’t there.
His dad had someone pick them up in a limousine, so there was enough space for everyone and their luggage.
When they reached the resort, Shoto forgot how massive the place was. He hadn’t been there since he was a small child, mostly because he tried to avoid anything related to his father. The hotel building was massive with so many floors. The front of the resort had a road that formed a circle that had a group of different, vibrant flora. A strip of water with fountains lined the inner part of the road. Cars parked in front of the main entrance, and there were bellhops unloading guests’ luggage. They also had valet parking for those who brought their own vehicles.
When the driver parked, everyone climbed out of the limo. There were a couple bellhops with a cart to put their bags on. Enji moved towards the front doors, and everyone followed behind.
“This place is so cool,” Midoriya commented as he looked around in awe. “Thank you for inviting me, Todoroki.”
“Wait till you see the inside,” Fuyumi whispered when she came up beside Shoto and Midoriya. “It’s so beautiful, you’re going to love it.”
And she was right. The moment they stepped through the large doors, Midoriya’s mouth dropped open. There were live plants everywhere, and in the center of the lobby was a fountain with a pond that had koi fish in it. Stones formed a ring around it.
The air smelled fresh, and the sound of running water from a mini waterfall on the other side of the lobby echoed. There was another pool of water over there with more fish in it. The lobby had a high, glass ceiling, and the sun shining through made the greenery even more vibrant.
“Wow, dad, you really out did yourself, didn’t ya,” Touya said, shoving his hands in the pockets of his cargo shorts as they walked towards the front desk.
“Oh! Mr. Todoroki! Welcome!” the woman at the desk beamed when she immediately recognized the man standing in front of her. “It’s a pleasure to have you and your family here!”
Shoto noticed her voice quiver slightly, almost as if she was terrified of him. Perhaps she was afraid that if she made the wrong move, his dad would have her fired. He wouldn’t put something harsh like that past his father. He knew the man was strict with his employees.
The guest services agent handed him their keys for the room and told him the room numbers, stressing that they will have the best rooms of the whole resort. Shoto’s dad nodded at the woman and turned towards his children to give them their keys.
There were two sections that had hotel rooms. Enji reserved two hotel rooms, and they were not together. Enji and Rei shared a suite on the other side of the building, because they got a special room just for the two of them.
“Feel free to explore, but make sure you arrive at the dining hall by 6:00 o’clock sharp,” Enji said to the group before he pushed Rei in the direction of the elevators.
Midoriya and Shoto followed his siblings to the other set of elevators and stepped in once the doors opened. There were other people in the elevator, but they paid them no mind. The elevator was spacious, which did not surprise Shoto in the least. It took a while for them to reach their floor, because the hotel had many floors, and their room was located near the top floor.
“I can’t believe the old man is making us stay here with him for fucking weeks,” Natsuo muttered, frowning at the floor. “How desperate can he get?”
“He probably wouldn’t have done this if you all came over for dinner every once and a while,” Fuyumi pointed out.
Now it was Touya’s turn to scoff and run his fingers through his white hair.
“It’s his own damn fault we’re like this,” he said, shoving his tattooed hands in his pockets. “He’s lucky I even showed up to this shitty vacation, and it was only because I didn’t have to pay a fucking penny for it.”
“I had other plans this summer,” Natsu grumbled.
Fuyumi sighed and shook her head. It was no use to argue with her hard-headed brothers. She was the only one who even tried to get their family to act somewhat normal. But, unfortunately for her, she was hardly ever successful. Ever since Shoto’s mother moved back home from rehab, Fuyumi had been trying more than ever to get everyone back together again.
The elevator dinged, signaling that they reached their floor. The four of them stepped out and started heading in the direction of their room.
There were many halls on the floor, along with a balcony with lounge chairs and tables, and even more live plants for decoration. When they began their search for the rooms, Shoto was almost positive they were going to get lost, because this place was the equivalent to a maze. Fortunately, they did not get lost and eventually found their room number at the end of a particularly long, and very wide, hallway. Chandeliers lined the ceiling, abstract paintings decorated the walls, and a patterned carpet covered the floor.
When they entered the room, it was bigger than Shoto had anticipated. Midoriya’s mouth dropped when he saw how big the main room was with the massive window that had a view of the sparkling ocean. Next to the window were modern looking couches facing the wall that displayed a rather large flatscreen TV. And underneath the television was a stand holding a couple small succulents. Some of the walls were decorated with abstract paintings that matched the neutral colors of the room while also containing some green and blue elements to represent the flora within the hotel as well as the ocean right outside.
“There should be two rooms with two beds, and a room with one. Because you guys are sharing, I’ll take the room with one bed,” Fuyumi said when she settled her purse on the coffee table in the main room.
Shoto walked over to a set of double doors and pushed it open to peek inside. It was a large room with two queen-sized beds in it, and he turned and motioned Midoriya to follow.
“We can take this room,” Shoto said. “Which bed would you like?”
Midoriya was too busy gawking at the room to even hear the question. Shoto shook his head and smiled, picking the bed closest to the wall so that Midoriya could have the one by the window.
“Look at the view!” Midoriya exclaimed, rushing to the window and pushing open the sliding glass door. There was a balcony that overlooked a massive atrium full of plants, trees, and ponds. There was also a mini waterfall that flowed into a river that travelled all around the room. There were pathways and bridges to maneuver around the greenery, and there was also a pool with a large fountain in it and benches surrounding it.
Tablets and chairs scattered the room, allowing people places to eat their food and talk with one another. A young man sat at a small round table typing away on his laptop with a cup of coffee sitting next to it. Shoto spotted a couple bars, a restaurant, and a café, and there were tons of guests walking around.
The view of the atrium from their balcony was beautiful. And both of the boys thought so.
“You picked the right room, Todoroki,” Midoriya said as he leaned over the banister to get a better view of the area below them. “We get the view of the ocean in the living room, so it’s cool that we get a different view here.”
“Shoto, Izuku, they dropped our bags off,” Fuyumi called from the other room.
The boys grabbed their bags before they started unpacking their belongings. In front of their beds was a TV mounted on the wall with a sofa situated in front of it. Underneath the TV was a white dresser dresser, and flanking it were two doors, one leading to a walk-in closet and the other leading to a luxurious bathroom.
The colors that made up the theme of the room were all neutral tones, and Shoto found that he really liked the style of the room. It was simple and modern, but still maintained a luxurious, sophisticated feel to it.
Midoriya offered to take the dresser, because he didn’t really hang up his clothing. Shoto, on the other hand, usually hung his clothes up in his closet back at home. So it all worked out well.
It didn’t take long for them to finish unpacking, and when they did, Izuku flopped back on his bed, and exhaled loudly when his body sunk down into the soft mattress.
“I feel like I’m laying on a cloud,” he sighed. Shoto tested his own bed by sitting on the edge, and he agreed with his friend.
“I can already tell, I’m going to sleep like a baby tonight,” Midoriya stated as he pulled his phone out of the pocket of his shorts. “It’s 5:30, should we try to look for the dining room?”
Shoto nodded and stuffed his phone into the pocket of his jeans and left the room to see if his siblings were ready to head down. Touya was sprawled out on the couch, with his leg propped up on the headrest. Natsuo was walking out of their room with a new pair of clothes on, and Fuyumi was digging around in the kitchen.
“Are you guys ready?” Fuyumi asked as she picked up her purse.
With a loud sigh, Touya got up and trudged towards the door. Fuyumi smiled when she saw the frown on his face.
“Hey, lighten up, Touya,” she laughed. “Free food.”
“That is the only reason I’m coming.”
•••
It took quite a bit of time trying to find the right place, but they eventually reached the dining hall. They were greeted by a host, who stood behind a podium at the entrance. The man in a buttoned up black shirt and slacks scrutinized them, eyeing each of them individually as if they didn’t belong there. Shoto noticed his eyes lingering on Touya because of the tattoo sleeves decorating his arms and the piercings on his face and ears. The host’s eyes also remained on Shoto’s face longer than necessary.
From the small view Shoto had from the entrance, it looked pretty fancy, and neither one of them were dressed up. Touya and Midoriya both wore T-Shirts and shorts, Natsuo wore a slightly nicer shirt with jeans, Fuyumi had on jean shorts and a blouse, and Shoto was decked in a sandy-colored sweater and jeans. While his clothes were “nicer”, it still was far from appropriate for this place.
Then the host cleared his throat and said, “Name.”
Shoto saw Touya roll his eyes.
A smile plastered on Fuyumi’s face, and Shoto knew it was fake. “Todoroki,” she said, crossing her arms over her chest. “Fuyumi Todoroki.”
The host narrowed his eyes on them. “Todoroki?” he questioned. “As in the family of Enji Todoroki?”
Touya stepped up next to Fuyumi and leaned towards the host.
“Yeah, and if you’re the reason we show up late for dinner, I’ll make sure our dad knows it was your fault,” he smirked, sticking his tongue out to run it along his bottom lip ring. “Wouldn’t want that, now would ya?”
The host’s face paled slightly and turned his gaze to the floor. “No, sir,” he muttered rather bitterly, and then he motioned them to follow him. “Right this way.”
Touya smirked and followed right behind the host. Fuyumi sighed, following the eldest, while the other three hesitated. Some of the guests glanced at them, giving them judgemental stares as they passed by. Touya stuck his tongue out at them, his tongue piercing glinting under the chandelier light.
“Touya, stop it,” Fuyumi hissed. “You’re going to embarrass dad.”
Natsuo scoffed. “All the more reason to do it,” he muttered, earning a laugh from Touya who stuck his tongue out again, but this time at a particularly old, snobbish woman who looked at the Todoroki children like they were maggots.
When they reached their table, Enji and Rei were already seated. Their father looked up at them and immediately frowned when he saw them standing before him in their casual clothes. Even though he seemed displeased, especially with Touya’s tattoos on display for everyone in the dining hall to see, he did not say anything. Instead, he motioned them to sit.
Fuyumi took the seat next to Enji, knowing full well none of the others wanted to. Once everyone was situated, it felt extremely tense for everyone, especially Midoriya, who was the “outsider”.
The host told them that their waiter would be with them shortly before he glanced at Touya and hurried away.
Deciding to break the ice forming at the table, Rei spoke up with a small, albeit awkward, smile on her face, “This place sure is very lovely. What do you think, Izuku dear?”
Midoriya visibly jumped at the sound of his name being addressed, catching everyone’s attention at the table, and possibly some others at the surrounding tables. Shoto bit his lip to keep himself from smiling when Midoriya blushed furiously from embarrassment.
“O-oh! T-This place is amazing. It’s so pretty,” Midoriya stumbled over his words. “We have a great view from our room, too.”
This made Rei’s smile grow. She always told Shoto how much she liked his friend Izuku and how he was a great influence on him. He was probably his mother’s favorite out of all of the friends she had met. He was probably the one Shoto talked about the most, too.
“I’m sure you searched up some of the activities they’re hosting, is there any in particular you plan on doing while we’re here?”
“I heard they’re having a beach volleyball tournament,” Midoriya beamed. “Todoroki…er…uh. I mean Shoto and I were planning on competing together.”
Enji glanced over at his son, and he opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted by the waiter.
It was a tall, muscular blonde with spiky, ashen hair and fiery red eyes. His lips were turned down in a permanent frown. The sleek and perfectly-ironed black uniform on his body fit snuggly, and Shoto was the only one who noticed that Midoriya made a barely audible noise.
He glanced at the boy sitting next to him and saw him openly gawking with wide eyes and his mouth agape. Shoto raised an eyebrow and looked back up at their waiter.
He guessed the guy was decent looking, but he could just tell the dude was an asshole. Wasn’t personality the most important thing about your partner anyways? Having the personality and attitude of an asshole was not appealing to Shoto at all.
But who was he to judge? He was completely and utterly useless when it came to love and romance. He did not even know what his sexuality was because he had never felt drawn to someone before. Sure, he found certain people attractive, and he rubbed one out every now and again, but it was rare.
“Mr. Todoroki,” the waiter’s voice was gruff and there wasn’t an ounce of warmth in his tone.
“Ah yes, Katsuki Bakugo, was it?” Enji said as he looked at the blond, unphased by the clear attitude evident in his employee’s tone of voice. “Bring us a bottle of Champaign.”
Bakugo’s eyebrow twitched, but listened and fetched a bottle from the kitchen. When he returned to the table, he poured a little bit in each of their glasses. He paused when Midoriya murmured a “thank you” when he finished pouring the green-haired boy’s glass. He looked almost surprised when he glanced down at the guest. He didn’t say anything, but his facial features softened slightly before he finished up his task.
Shoto had no clue how he noticed something so minuscule, when he was a novice when it came to reading situations.
“Tonight’s options are filet mignon, chicken Marsala, and smoked salmon,” Bakugo said.
They all told him what they wanted, and he left without writing anything down. Shoto assumed it was probably because he was really good at remembering people’s orders, which he thought was an impressive skill to have.
Bakugo returned with their food, remembering exactly who ordered what. Once everyone had their meals he immediately left without another word, probably to get away from Shoto’s father as quickly as possible.
The rest of dinner was filled with idle chat. The food was as good as Shoto expected, and Midoriya made it known that he really enjoyed his meal. Everyone’s bellies were full, and Touya yawned loudly, claiming he was ready for a “long ass nap”. He even made sure to say it loud enough for the guests around him in the dining hall to give him disapproving looks.
Enji sighed heavily but did not scold him.
Before leaving his children to do whatever they pleased, he told them to make sure to be at breakfast on time. After that he and Rei walked away.
Midoriya appeared like he wanted to explore by the way he looked around when they stepped out of the dining hall.
“Would you like to wander around?” Shoto asked his friend.
Midoriya quickly nodded his head. “Of course!”
Shoto turned to his siblings who just exited the dining hall.
“We’ll catch up with you guys later,” he told them. “We’re going to explore a little.”
“Do you have your key?” Fuyumi asked.
Shoto nodded, but stuck his hands in his pockets just to make sure. When he felt the key card, he waved goodbye to the others before disappearing out of the room with Midoriya.
Because it had been years since he had been to the resort, everything barely felt familiar to him, and he had no clue where anything was. There were signs, but they were just names of halls and rooms and that didn’t provide much help for them.
They eventually reached the atrium, and the air in the room felt nice and cool. Because the sun was setting outside, the room got significantly darker than it was when they were looking at it from their balcony. There were lights hanging in some of the trees and street lamps posted next to the paths. The water flowing from the fountains glowed blue.
“Who would’ve thought to design the interior like this”, Midoriya commented as they walked down one of the paths leading to the large fountain in the center of the atrium.
Shoto didn’t have an answer, but he knew his dad wasn’t the one who envisioned it.
Midoriya took his phone out to snap some photos, and the “clicking” sound indicated he took a ton of them.
“My mom demanded that I send her pictures,” Midoriya explained as he took one of the fountains with some of the greenery and lights behind it. “I think she might be jealous of me.”
Shoto shoved his hands in the pockets of his jeans and looked up at the lights hanging over them.
“Perhaps next time she can come with us,” he said.
Midoriya paused and looked up from his phone in shock. “Wait, really?”
Shoto shrugged his shoulders like it was nothing. “Sure, I don’t think my parents would mind. I’m certain our moms would get along.”
Midoriya went back to snapping pictures.
“Even if your parents said ‘no’, my mom would just be happy that you thought of her.”
Shoto sat down on one of the benches and watched guests walk by. Because it was later than before, there weren’t as many people walking around. But the room was still filled with the chit chat from the different restaurants and bars, as well as the running water from the waterfall in the corner and the fountains, and the music playing from the speakers at one of the sports bars.
“I like your mom,” Shoto commented.
Midoriya smiled at his phone. “She likes you, too. She’s always asking when you’re going to come and visit again.”
The rest of the hour was spent taking hundreds of photos of the place, and Shoto had no idea how his best friend had enough space on his phone.
Once Midoriya was satisfied with the amount of pictures he took, the two continued their exploration. They wandered down hallways, poking their heads in rooms. His mom was right about there being a lot of activities to participate in.
They traveled up and down stairs, used the elevator. And it got to the point where they were lost, but neither of them really cared. They were having fun wandering around and even chatted with other guests they passed in the hallways.
Midoriya saw one guest carrying a backpack with an All Might pin on it. They spent 20 minutes gushing about their favorite comic book superhero.
Some time had passed and the two boys found themselves outside a place that had some people lingering in front of it. They took the stairs down from the main floor and it led them to an unfamiliar area. A few people lingered outside of it, and someone who looked a lot like a bouncer stood at the door.
Loud music blasted out as he opened the door to let some guests in. Curious, Shoto moved towards the door.
“Uh I don’t think we’re supposed to be here,” Midoriya pointed out when he noticed the people around them looked older.
“Let’s find out,” Shoto said as he walked up to the bouncer.
The man stared at him quizzically. He didn’t look convinced in the slightest that they belonged there. But that didn’t deter Shoto’s blank face as he stared back at the man.
“Name?” the bouncer finally said, looking down at the list in his hand.
“Shoto Todoroki,” he answered.
The bouncer paused with a raised eyebrow and glanced up at Shoto from his clipboard.
“Are you by any chance related to Enji Todoroki?” he questioned with narrowed eyes.
“Yes, he’s my father.”
The burly man stared at him for a few more seconds before allowing them in.
They were enveloped by the loud bass of the music and the smell of alcohol tickled his nose. While the stench had him scrunching up his nose, it did nothing to diminish the curiosity bursting inside of him.
“We definitely shouldn’t be here. Why did that guy not ask for our IDs?” Midoriya attempted to speak over the loud noise.
Shoto shrugged. “Most of dad’s employees fear him,” he said. “Maybe he was afraid I’d get him involved if he didn’t let me through.”
When Shoto surveyed the room, he noticed the majority of the occupants dancing, and most of them danced together in ways that would be deemed inappropriate elsewhere.
He stared blankly at them, not showing any signs of being uncomfortable whereas Midoriya’s cheeks turned a bright red that was only noticeable when the moving lights flashed on him. Flustered, his eyes darted around the room in an attempt to avoid the “scandalous” dancing.
“I-I didn’t know people actually danced like this,” Midoriya stuttered, stepping closer to Shoto when someone brushed by and almost bumped him. “I thought this only happened in movies.”
“Have you ever danced like this with someone, Midoriya?” Shoto asked curiously, oblivious to his friend’s eyes widening.
“N-No!” he exclaimed. “Do I look like someone who has?”
Shoto glanced at Midoriya and almost laughed when he saw how flustered and embarrassed he looked. He definitely looked out of place. In fact, they both did.
“Have you?” Midoriya questioned a moment later.
Shoto’s eyes scanned the room as he shook his head. “No, I can’t even dance.”
“That makes two of us. I have two left feet,” Midoriya laughed.
The two boys continued watching people dance together as they stood off to the side, both of them unsure whether or not to leave.
“Are those staff members?” Midoriya pointed out as they watched some people in their work attire partnering up with guests. Some of them wore Polo shirts with the resort logo on them. “H-How is that appropriate?”
Shoto shrugged his shoulders, not really seeing the issue if the guests were happy. After all, if the guests were happy, then his dad earned more money. At least, that’s what his dad told him.
“Look at those two,” Midoriya spoke up again, pointing at a particular couple that stood out.
It was a beautiful woman with light brown hair cascading down her back, and her figure was flawless as she moved to the beat of the song. Shoto could not understand how she was capable of having her body move the way it did, so smoothly and effortlessly. She seemed more experienced than almost everyone else in the room, doing more than just grinding their most intimate parts against their partner.
The way she moved her hips and dragged her hands up her partner's chest and over his shoulders. She moved every part of her body, and it was beyond mesmerizing to watch.
The partner she danced with was a rather large, burly man, who towered over her, and she seemed so small in comparison. One wrong move and he could snap her like a toothpick, but his touches were gentle yet firm, and he held her like she was something so precious.
He, too, seemed experienced in the way he carried himself, despite being a behemoth of a man. His steps were light, and his legs and hips moved to the rhythm, syncing perfectly with his partner. It was practiced, Shoto was sure of it.
Shoto found it extremely difficult to look away, and he almost felt embarrassed for being so absorbed in something that was that intimate. Some of the people around them also paused to watch the couple dance to the song, and Shoto could tell they felt the same way he did.
Shoto’s gaze shifted to the woman again, but his eyes kept drifting back to her dance partner. The man stood out more than everyone else around them. Shoto did not have much of an understanding or experience when it came to sexual desire or anything evolved around strong emotions and feelings, really, but watching the way he moved did a number on him.
And he stared at him without much thought besides being totally enraptured.
That was until Midoriya gasped and grabbed a hold of Shoto’s arm. Startled, Shoto whipped his head to the side and looked down at Midoriya in confusion. His wide eyes were staring at something a few feet away and Shoto shifted his focus to see what had caused his friend to react in such an odd way.
As soon as he saw it, he wasn’t surprised at all.
The blond waiter from the dining hall stood in front of them carrying a tray with some glasses sitting atop of it.
“It’s Bakugo,” Midoriya whispered as he leaned closer so Shoto could hear him. “He looks so hot in his uniform.”
The bluntness didn’t surprise Shoto either. No. What did surprise Shoto, however, was the fact that Midoriya decided at that moment to go talk to the waiter with as much confidence as he could muster.
The five foot seven boy never showed any signs of boldness, let alone confidence, when it came to romance. He was usually a nervous wreck, and he couldn’t flirt to save his life. Not that Shoto could judge, because he lacked majorly in that department as well.
But, despite his nerves and quivering body, Midoriya carried himself over to the blond who seemed to be annoyed at the world.
Good luck.
A voice brought Shoto back to reality, and he looked away from his friend attempting to flirt.
Shoto was surprised to find the light-haired woman standing in front of him. The one who danced like a goddess. Up close she was even more beautiful. Her sweaty skin glistened under the lights, and Shoto couldn’t help but notice the sweet smell of her perfume wafting around him.
She was a bit shorter than him, probably a couple inches shorter than Midoriya. It was no wonder she dwarfed in comparison to her partner.
“Wow! You are totes hot up close!” she gushed, leaning forward into his personal space. Shoto leaned back, feeling both a little flushed and confused.
For a second he thought maybe she was talking to someone else, but the way her eyes were fixated on him, he knew that wasn’t the case.
“Uh…” he couldn’t find words.
“I saw you over there and had to come check you out,” she said loudly over the music. “Love your hair.”
She reached forward without asking and ran her fingers though his hair. Shoto stood there awkwardly, getting ready to ask her to stop. But then her fingers moved down and ran across the burnt skin on his face, causing him to flinch away from her.
“Oh!” she pulled her hand away with an apologetic smile. “Gosh, I’m sorry. I touch without thinking. Inasa tells me all the time that I need to think before I touch.”
“It’s…fine.”
“Anywho, wanna dance?” she asked excitedly.
Shoto still tried to process the whole ordeal. His head couldn’t wrap around the fact that she came up to him, complimented him, and touched him, and now she wants to dance with him?
Out of everyone in the room, why him?
“Uh, that would not be the best idea,” Shoto said with a frown.
Her smile slowly faded when she thought he rejected her.
“Oh. Gotta gf?” She raised an eyebrow. “Or bf if you swing that way.”
Shoto shook his head. “I can’t dance.”
The sudden laughter that left the woman’s mouth had Shoto flinch at the noise.
“That’s it? What a relief!” she sighed. “And here I thought I went in total creep mode and weirded you the fuck out.”
Shoto shook his head, “You didn’t.”
That only made her grin widen as she held out her hand for him to take. He hesitated. He really could not dance and embarrassing himself in front of her and everyone else in the room was anything but appealing.
Reluctantly, Shoto allowed her to grasp his hand and tug him more towards the crowd so that they weren’t far off to the side. He stood awkwardly as she started moving to the music. She giggled when he watched her dance instead of following along.
She grabbed his hands and placed them on her hips. Her cropped shirt allowed his fingers to graze her skin and it felt so soft under his touch.
She moved closer to him and draped her arms over his shoulders as she started gyrating her hips against his groin.
“I’m Camie, BT dubs,” she said as she leaned closer.
Shoto found some of the things she said kind of weird, but he chose to ignore it. It seemed to be her whole personality, but then again, he didn’t know the woman.
“Shoto,” he replied instead.
“Well, Shoto,” Camie moved her body against him while he stood as stiff as a board with his hands on her waist. “You gotta let loose if you wanna dance. You def don’t want to think.”
Shoto tried not to think about what he was doing, but it was impossible. His body and mind wouldn’t listen to him, so he just stood there like a statue while she danced.
“Camie! What did I say about pestering guests!” a deep voice called out over the loud bass of the song.
A shadow appeared over the two, and Shoto craned his neck to get a look at the newcomer. When he recognized the guy standing next to him, Shoto suddenly forgot how to breathe.
Up close, the man was way taller than he could’ve imagined, and Shoto wasn’t a short guy either standing at five foot eleven!
“She’s not pestering me,” Shoto found himself blurting in her defense.
Inasa laughed loudly and clapped a heavy hand on Shoto’s shoulder.
“No need to lie, buddy,” Inasa didn’t remove his hand, and Shoto began feeling weird. He had two people touching him, and he wasn’t used to so much physical contact. “This doesn’t seem like your kind of thing.”
“Don’t be such a party pooper, Ina,” Camie pouted as she turned and ran a hand up the nape of Shoto’s neck. “Shoto’s just having a difficult time feeling the music.”
“And you’re not helping him feel it,” Inasa pointed out and then added. “You’re making him feel other things.”
Camie paused and looked up at her partner with a smirk. The devious look on her face made Shoto worry.
“Then maybe you should dance with him,” Camie suggested, stepping away from Shoto.
Inasa’s dark eyes shifted to Shoto’s heterochromatic eyes, and he hesitated for a moment.
“Sure thing,” he said. Camie moved to the side and ushered Inasa to her previous spot.
When Inasa stepped forward, Shoto craned his neck even more. It felt completely different than having a partner shorter than him, and it made him nervous. Did he have to dance like Camie because he was the shorter one? He had no clue how it worked.
“Oh! Who’s the cutie flirting with Katsuki?” Camie asked as she looked over Shoto’s shoulder.
Shoto spotted Midoriya still talking to Bakugo, who looked mildly annoyed but hadn’t told him to get lost yet.
“That’s my best friend Izuku Midoriya,” Shoto replied.
“He is so adorable! I’m going to ask him to dance!” Before Shoto could warn her about Midoriya’s dancing abilities, or lack thereof, she left in a hurry.
Shoto awkwardly titled his head back up to look at Inasa again, growing even more nervous as the seconds ticked by.
“May I?” Inasa asked, reaching his hand out to Shoto.
Shoto’s eyes widened when he saw how massive Inasa’s hand was, which should have been expected considering how massive the dude’s stature was.
“Yeah,” Shoto replied with a nod.
Heat raised in his body as he felt the warmth of Inasa’s hand around his wrist and guided him. Then he leaned forward so Shoto could place his hands on his broad shoulders.
“Just follow my lead,” he whispered, the deep rumble of his voice sent shivers down Shoto’s spine.
He bit back a noise when he felt hands wander down to his ass, the touch light and barely there.
“You need to move your hips like this,” Inasa said as he slowly ground his hips in circles. “And keep your legs bent a little.”
Shoto had no idea what to do, but he attempted to copy the guy, but his movements were too jerky, and he was pretty sure he bent his legs too much.
The smile that formed on Inasa’s face made those doubts immediately fly out the window. The corners of his eyes crinkled when he laughed, and Shoto found that he rather liked the sound of his laugh.
“Good try, my friend,” Inasa chuckled. “How about we try this.”
He held Shoto’s hips and made him move with him. He used his thigh to separate Shoto’s. One of the hands on his hip moved to the small of his back and pulled him closer.
Shoto still had his hands gripping Inasa’s shoulders, but it felt awkward this close. So he decided to drape them around Inasa’s neck, which only made Inasa’s grin widen.
“There you go!” he beamed. “You’re getting the hang of it.”
Inasa definitely lied to him.
It didn’t feel like he got the hang of it. It felt like Inasa was the one doing all the heavy lifting. He still felt stiff and awkward, but if he really thought about it, he was having way more fun than before.
Inasa used one of his hands to grab Shoto and turn him around so that his back was pressed flush against Inasa’s chest and stomach. The sudden movement had a gasp escape his throat, and his face flushed when he felt something prodding the upper part of his ass.
Leaning down, Inasa brushed the side of Shoto’s head with his nose while his left hand splayed across his lower stomach. Then he dragged his right hand across his throat, his fingers toying with the neckline of his sweater. His thumb and index finger brushed against his chin.
The scorching, hot breath fanning across his bare skin, the intoxicating scent of Inasa’s cologne, the feeling of the groin grinding up against his ass. Everything felt so overwhelming to Shoto, and he had no idea how to react.
He didn’t know what to do with his hands or body, and he felt like putty in the hands of Inasa.
When the song finished, Shoto felt light-headed, so he pushed away from his dance partner in need of some space. His face felt like it was on fire, and his body trembled. To make matters even worse, he was also pretty sure he had a raging hard on
He needed air, fast.
Shoto turned around to face Inasa again, but his eyes remained on the floor as he could not bear to look up at the guy. He was too embarrassed.
“Thank you for dancing with me, but I need to go,” Shoto said as he scratched his cheek.
He didn’t wait for Inasa to answer. Instead, he spun on his heel and began his search for Midoriya. It wasn’t hard to find him. The poor boy was at the bar watching Bakugo fetch drinks for people.
“Hey, Todoroki!” Midoriya greeted him with a smile. “I saw you get swept away by Camie and Inasa.”
“Oh, yeah,” Shoto replied. “Did Camie dance with you? She said she wanted to.”
“Mhm,” Midoriya hummed. “A little. She spent most of the time making Bakugo mad.”
Midoriya noticed the flushed look on Shoto’s face and raised an eyebrow. “You okay?”
Shoto nodded his head. “Yeah, I’m heading back to the hotel room. I really need some air. You coming?”
“Yeah,” Midoriya said as he stood up from the bar stool before leaning over the counter and cupping his mouth. “Bye Kacchan!”
The blond grunted and hissed back, “Oi, shut the fuck up, Deku!”
A giggle bubbled out of Midoriya as the two boys walked towards the exit.
“Nicknames?” Shoto questioned curiously as they exited and were greeted by the cool air of the hallway, no longer enveloped by the suffocating heat of the little club.
“Oh yeah,” Midoriya laughed. “It kind of just happened.”
The two boys walked towards their hotel room in almost complete silence, which was odd because Midoriya never really was quiet for long periods of time.
When they entered their room, that was when Midoriya decided to ask a question that had been bugging him the whole way back.
“How come you looked like you were one second away from passing out?” he asked.
Shoto felt his face heat up and he looked away from his best friend’s green gaze. How could he explain all of the emotions swirling in his mind? He was terrible at explaining himself. Hell, he didn’t even know how he felt. It was all so new to him. So how was he supposed to find the words to describe the emotions swirling in his head?
“I don’t know,” was his lousy response. Surprisingly, Midoriya didn’t push it.
That night Shoto found himself having a difficult time falling asleep. And when he eventually did, he dreamt of a certain muscular someone with buzzed hair. He dreamt of those massive, calloused hands worshipping his body and warmth he had never experienced before.
