Chapter Text
Laughter filled the daycare, kids were running around in a game of tag, some climbing through the play structures and others were doing arts and crafts. Some joined Sun in a game of dress-up while others were in the reading corner having Moon read ‘One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish’.
The day was going as usual, naptime was in an hour, and then the kids would play for a little longer before going home with their carers.
“Samantha! Oh no no no! Do not eat the crafts!” Sun yelled out, turning his head away from the group he was with to look at all the other playing children, and instantly spotting a little girl about to shove a hand saturated in glitter glue right into her mouth. He was quick to rush over, grabbing her hand and keeping it away from her opened maw.
“Oh no you don’t, Missy!” the sunny attendant said sternly, grabbing a wipe and cleaning off the little girl’s hand. “We do not eat the crafts, they’re not good for your tummy. Do you want a sore tummy?”
“No mista Sunny…” Samantha said, dipping her head as Sun cleaned her hand. She looked upset, maybe close to crying.
“Oh don’t worry little bee! It’s all alright, just remember not to do it next time, yeah? I don’t want you not feeling well, then you can’t play and have fun!”
Samantha nodded her head, a smile gracing her face again as Sun let her hand go, and she went back to her artwork.
“So, what are you making there?” Sun asked as he looked over her shoulder to what seemed like a scribble of colours over an outline of Monty (they have printed colour sheets of all the rockstars here, though the kids do tend to prefer to draw their own).
“I’m making a card for Mon’y” she said.
Sun lightly grabbed her shoulders, “I bet he’s going to love it!”
The girl giggled happily grabbing a bright green crayon and scribbling over the page. It at least had the essence of Monty, shape and lines ignored as they were, even with heaps of green and pink skewed about. Sun could only laugh under his non-existent breath at her enthusiasm. He turned back around to monitor the children playing dress-up.
Eliza was still dressed in a variety of clashing colours, playing the princess, while Hariette and Jamie were the dragon and knight, also dressed in questionable colour schemes and clashing habiliments. Sun wasn’t quite sure any of the kids actually knew what a dragon was considering the way Hariette was dressed.
Deciding his help wasn’t needed there, Sun turned to observe the rest of the daycare. Almost instantly, his eyes fell on Moon, watching him read to the few kids in the reading corner who all looked quite invested in the book. Knowing Moon, he was probably giving each character a silly voice. Sun couldn’t help but internally melt at the thought, just another reason why he loved his Moon. The nighttime attendant had Sun wrapped around his finger without even trying, and Sunny wouldn’t have it any other way.
Lost in his thoughts, Sun didn’t notice Moon looking back at him for a few seconds, a smile growing upon his face, before going back to the book, turning the page.
Sun continued to stare, taking in every one of Moon’s features as if they were as important as the electricity his body required to stay functioning (and to Sun, they were - nothing about Moon would ever be inadequate in his opinion, important like the oxygen humans needed to breathe, he may simply perish is he didn’t have Moon – the one who had stolen his heart).
He observed Moon’s hands, wrapped around the book’s cover. Those beautifully sculpted and forged metal fingers that Sun could never get enough of. Dexterous and dangerous and delightful. Oh so delightful.
Moon’s eyes. Those beautiful ruby reds, his mismatched sclera, his dreamy gaze that only ever truly has its sight set on him. Ruby red that always seeks his pure whites. Oh how Sun could gaze into them forever. Others always complain about them, calling them creepy and unnerving, but Sun could only ever find them charming and mesmerising.
Or even Moon’s crescent face - which became so prominent due to half of his face being a beautiful midnight blue, almost black, and the crescent being so pure in colour it almost seems to develop its own light - matching his own. Two parts to one whole, like soulmates. They were made for each other, there was no doubting that. The Sun loved the Moon, and the Moon loved the Sun.
And that struck Sun so wonderfully, the fact that Moon loved him too. Adored him just as much as Sun adored Moon. To love and be loved by the Moon, how special that made Sun feel. His gears churned inside him as he heated up at the thought, fans clicking on.
“-The end.” Moon concluded, snapping the book shut. The children chatted amongst themselves about the story as Moon put the book back on the shelf. “Now, why don’t you all run along and play, I’m sure yous could figure out a game to play,” Moon ushered them off, urging them to join in or start their own games.
Once all the children had run off, Moon turned to Sun, who was still staring at him dreamily and without noticing anything else around him. Moon chuckled to himself as he walked over to his bright lover, standing before him as he waited for Sun to notice.
After a minute of Sun still staring unnoticingly at him, Moon took action, placing a single finger on the tip of Sun’s nose, “Boop.”
Sun startled out of his thoughts, blushing if he could, and finally took note of Moon’s proximity. “Moon!”
“Hey Starlight.”
Sun felt a shutter slide up his backstruts at the nickname, butterflies seeming to swarm inside his stomach. How Moon could still make him feel this way despite being together for years was just unfair in Sun’s opinion. Moon was much harder to fluster, but oh was it a treat when he did.
“Hey,” He replied dumbly, still a little startled, “how have the little ones been?” Sun asked, finally regaining himself.
Moon glanced back at the bookshelf, to where he had returned the book, “they seem to love that book… I honestly don’t see why.”
“Well… You’re not a child, Moonflower,” Sun chucked at him, wrapping an arm around Moon’s shoulders to pull him close. “Maybe we should ask for some new books though, I think some of those are starting to get a little overused, doncha think?”
Moon hummed in reply, grabbing hold of Sun’s hand and pulling him in tighter.
“Maybe. The kids don’t ever seem to mind though,” Moon gazed over the daycare, watching the different games that were being played.
Sun leaned over and pecked a kiss onto Moon’s cheek after checking to make sure they weren’t being watched. “Of course not. But I think that’s just because you do the voices so well, my dear.”
Moon huffed, but a smile still graced his lips. And oh those lips, The sunny attendant’s head filled with thoughts and memories of those gorgeous lips. Of them on him, smattering kisses along his body, or parting to reveal his dexterous tongue that always knew just what to do. Or even those lips wrapped around-
No. This was not the place for those thoughts, he was in the daycare, on duty. He could not be having such… such indecent thoughts! No no no, that was not fitting of a good daycare attendant at all. Sun internally shook the thoughts away, no matter how much he didn’t want to.
“You’re just saying that because you want to hear more of my voice, hmm?” Moon quipped.
Sun let go of Moon, slipping his hand out of his lover’s, and stepped away with his hands held up. “Guilty as charged,” Sun grinned.
They both just laughed together.
Sun went back to Moon’s side, sighing (as well as a being without lungs could sigh) as he draped his head on Moon’s shoulder, some rays retracting to allow comfort for them both. Moon wrapped an arm around Sun’s waist to keep him close as they both just watched over the daycare.
The lights began to slowly dim as naptime approached, and children yawned as they settled down in the naptime area, tuckered out from hours of play. Sun cooed at the children from his spot overlooking the area as Moon sang a lullaby and began to tuck the children in to sleep.
Watching Moon helped calm Sun down, while he loved the children they did become a little overwhelming after a few hours. Yes, he was designed for the more active children, the opposite of Moon, but he still did tire out. Even they could be too much for him.
The lullaby resonated throughout the room, and Moon’s silk-smooth, honey sweet voice had Sun practically melting. That voice could do things to him, and Moon didn’t even need to try.
Sun’s head filled with thoughts of Moon’s voice, remembering the whispers Moon would hiss into his ear when the lights were out, or the rasp that Moon’s voice carried fresh out of recharge in the morning. Or maybe even the way Moon sometimes dragged out his sentences, letting each syllable have its own moment in the spotlight. Oh how that voice could do things to him; maybe someday they’d have to try using just Moon’s voice to make Sun cu-
No no. Bad Sun.
Not the time.
Sun shook his head to clear the thoughts, but the slight buzz of electricity behind his modesty plate had already started. Dang it.
“They’re completely out aren’t they,” Moon giggled next to him, startling Sun as he whipped his head around to his beautiful boyfriend. And wasn’t Moon just gorgeous, bathed in the dim lighting of the room, his shiny plating reflecting some of the offered light from the large stars on the ceiling, casting him in an ethereal glow while also remaining well hidden by the shadows. He looked so enchanting bathed in light like this, like the real moon. Sun thought that space rock had nothing on Moon at that moment.
Sun turned back to the sleeping children, “They’re conked out alright, but I don’t expect any less from you darling,” Sun winked at Moon jokingly, snickering under his (non-existent) breath. Moon lightly shoved his shoulder in response, but the smirk on his face gave away his humour.
Moon’s head dropped onto his shoulder, and they stood there for a few minutes, basking in each other's presence.
Sometimes, Sun liked to just enjoy the silence with Moon. He loved how they didn’t need to be talking to enjoy each other’s company. It’s almost like before they were separated; sometimes Moon would be asleep during Sun’s turn with the body, and vice versa. But this way felt much more domestic than drifting off to your lover’s voice when being bound together, while he and Moon used to be one being, two parts to one whole, each other's finishing touch or the other’s shadow, they could now be together and touch and feel and just be.
They weren’t a single fluid component anymore, they were two separate entities who clung to each other to be whole again, like magnets - one positive and one negative pole. And neither of them would have it any other way. Oh how they belonged with one another - the Sun and the Moon, in a celestial dance. Maybe their romance was like an eclipse, a spectacle formed from their meeting, their conjoined feelings. From one being, a fusion, to two who could embrace each other with separate arms. A true set of soulmates.
They were one, and they were two.
“Maybe… When we finish up tonight, we could…” Moon began, tilting his head up to meet Sun’s pearl-like eyes from his spot on his shoulder as he dragged a finger up towards the buttons on Sun’s chest. The innuendo struck the Sunny attendant almost instantly, despite Moon’s cut-off words, how could it not with all the thoughts that had been running through Sun’s noggin all day? “How does that sound?”
Sun could only nod in response, “Once we finish here.”
Moon smirked, lifting his head off of Sun’s shoulder. His hands gripped Sun’s own and he pulled the bright attendant towards himself, locking their lips together passionately.
Silicone lips mashed together in a desperate dance, and Sun found himself being pushed up against the play structure he had been leaning against. Moon wasted no time in opening his mouth and swiping his faux tongue against Sun’s lips, almost begging for entrance. And Sun granted it, with no hesitation as he felt just as needy as Moon.
Tongues glided together, like figure skaters in a duet – dangerous and beautiful and devious. The danger came from neither wanting to stop, and without the need for oxygen, neither attendant found any reason to pull back, to cut off the contact they had established. To remove the addicting feeling of contact.
But sooner than Sun would have liked, Moon pulled away, with Sun following in an attempt to steal more kisses from those delicious lips while in a kiss-drunk haze.
“That’s just a taster for later,” Moon whispered into his audio receptor, then nipped at one of his rays.
Sun groaned, the ray slightly extending further in an attempt to gain more of that feeling, but Moon seemed adamant to tease him, as he left Sun alone and went back into the naptime area to check on the sleeping children.
Sun huffed in annoyance but didn’t say anything. He caressed the ray Moon had lightly bit as he watched said bot hand a stuffed bear off to a little girl who wrapped her arms tightly around it and drifted back off to sleep. Maybe he would be okay with waiting if it meant he could keep watching Moon, in all his beauty and elegance.
Once the daycare had closed, all the children picked up by their carers and waved goodbye, Sun and Moon began the tedious daily talk of cleaning the daycare. From the arts and crafts section to scrubbing the slides and washing the sleeping bags, the two attendants worked together, non-stop talking as they went. The topics weren’t all that serious, just whatever came to mind as they went over the repetitive motions. Spray cleaning solution, wipe, check its clean, move on if it is or scrub again if it's not.
With both of them there, cleaning only took about an hour. Once the place looked shiny and brand new (Sun didn’t mind admiring his own work), the attendants sat against the security desk together. Sun had Moon’s hand in his, looking it over and playing with his finger joints.
They both sat in silence, Moon watching Sun as he traced over the intricate design of his joints, following along the blue of the nighttime attendant’s fingers as it faded back to white along his forearms.
“You know,” Sun broke the silence, “I’ve always loved your hands, your colours too.”
Moon hummed in response, tilting his head a bit to watch Sun as he continued.
“You’re so talented… Always so deliberate with every move. It almost makes me jealous of how well you use your hands…” Sun trailed off, bending each finger as he traced along them, watching as the joints gave to the added pressure. “And your blues, they’re so pretty. Just the right shade that mimics the night sky. You’re as beautiful as the stars.”
Mood would blush if he could, but instead he just smiled softly at Sun, his metaphorical heart melting as his love treasured him and treated him like a delicate glass ornament that he never wanted to take his eyes away from. If anyone else were to treat him like this he’d have knocked them under the chin, but Sun was a different story – only Sun could ever make him feel like this, to see him like this. Vulnerable and so so in love.
“You must be seeing things,” Moon started, sliding his hand under Sun’s chin to tilt his face up so they were facing each other, eyes locked. “Because you, my star, are the most beautiful thing here.” He smiled before continuing, “Your bright smile, I swear it lights up any room you enter, no one could hate it. Or your energy, how you’re able to keep up with the kids no matter what. Or should I talk about your rays? The way they frame your handsome face like a halo, or even a crown, that only you are so worthy as to bare. You needn’t even be royalty for me to bow, to worship you,” Moon praised, tracing a finger delicately along Sun’s rays as he spoke, eyes soft and focused only on Sun.
He leaned in and their lips locked in a love filled kiss, soft and romantic.
But that didn’t last long, hunger quickly over took the kiss, turning gentle movement into roaming tongues and scouting hands. Parting, Moon took the opportunity to latch onto one of Sun’s rays, sliding his tongue along it and occasionally lightly gnawing on it with his sharp teeth. He slid his hands under Sun, causing the sunny attendant to wrap his arms around Moon’s neck, lifting him up before shoving him against the wall beside the flashlight recharge station.
Sun groaned at both the contact and the rough treatment, starting to rock his hips against Moon’s and he was let down gently, still crowded against the wall. His feet touched the ground and he used the leverage to pull Moon closer and deepen the kiss even further.
Distracted by the kiss, Sun didn’t notice the darker animatronic’s hand snaking away from his hip and into his pants until he felt fingers caress his modesty plate. He departed the kiss with a gasp followed by a groan. Moon’s dexterous fingers knew just where to press along his plate, getting it to open up quickly. Sun’s cock was quick to respond, already writhing and seeking Moon.
Sun’s head dropped backwards against the wall as Moon wrapped his hand around it, giving his bright lover a moment to adjust before he began to move his hand, slow at first but gradually gaining speed. Sun’s eyes remained closed as he soaked in the pleasure, not noticing as Moon’s other hand approached the back of his head. He was pulled up and trapped in another kiss suddenly, his eyes shooting open in surprise before he melted into the feeling of Moon’s lips against his, and then Moon’s tongue lathering his own as it tangled with it.
As Moon’s hand worked along his writhing tendril, squeezing as it travelled along it and occasionally swiping along the leaking tip, Sun couldn’t help bucking his hips into the feeling, chasing more of that delectable ecstasy only Moon could offer him.
Moon swallowed any sounds Sun made into the kiss, soaking them up like the finest ambrosia, like a parched man gulping water, and sped up his motions. Sun’s hips bucked harder.
Breaking the kiss, Moon’s hands wrapped around Sun’s waist as he went back to Sun’s sensitive rays, lathering them with synthetic saliva and nipping here and there, sending shivers down Sun’s back struts. Sun’s legs were shaking, and he’d have collapsed already if it wasn’t for Moon holding him up, or the fact that him collapsing would cut off his contact with Moon. Sun just couldn't have that.
He was drawing closer to the edge rapidly, each pump along his shaft and nip to his rays seeming to double the pleasure he was feeling. Combined with the need he’d been feeling all day, and the sensation of Moon Moon Moon, all around him, all over him, his taste and his touch, Sun was so close. So, so close, he could practically taste it.
Sun bucked his hips harshly as Moon bit down as close to his ray’s housing as he could, an area that was so sensitive due to how rarely it was touched. And Sun whined at the feeling. He was so close. The feeling of Moon’s tongue over that spot had his eyes rolling back, he was about to, yes yes yes! Just a little more-
The daycare door slammed open and the attendants instantly parted from each other, Moon leaving Sun’s side and taking that delicious pleasure with him. Sun’s hands shot to the front of his pants in an attempt to hide the bulge jolting away from his body. Not the best way to hide a boner but it’d have to do as Sun’s mind reeled from the sudden intrusion.
Sun would have whined - he had been so damn close! - if it wasn’t for the new intruder walking into the daycare.
“Hey, Moonman! You here- oh.” Monty stood in the doorway, stopping as he saw the attendants. Moon attempted to lean nonchalantly against the security desk and Sun with his hands in front of his crotch, almost like he was doing a pee dance, just without bouncing around. It wasn’t hard to guess what he might be attempting to do. “I’m… I’m not interrupting anything.. Am I?”
The attendants glanced over at each other before turning back to Monty and shaking their heads awkwardly.
“Uh-uh.” Monty said slowly, clocking their lie instantly, turning his chin up as he dropped his stunned stance to look at the attendants. “Sure.”
A moment of awkward silence passed and Sun wished the ground would open up and swallow him whole. He couldn’t believe it – Monty had just walked in on them while he was being given a handy (a damn good one at that, damnit Monty), and to make matters worse he was still hard! If he were to move his hands his straining cock would be visible to the room's two other occupants. This could not get any worse. If Sun could blush he’d be as red as a tomato and glowing like his namesake. Fucking hell.
“Anyway,” Monty started, turning his attention to Moon, “Vanessa wanted ya for some security stuff, wouldn’t tell me. But hey, that’s none’ve my business.” Monty lifted his hands in a false surrender before dropping them back down, one hand on his hip. “You should probably get goin’ b’fore she gets mad, Moonman.” He smirked at said attendant.
Moon remained silent for a second, seeming to contemplate Monty’s words. But Sun knew Moon all too well, he could practically feel the irritation radiating off of the stoic attendant.
“Yeah, I’ll be there in a moment. Her usual office, right?”
“Pretty sure,” Monty shrugged before turning for the door and leaving the daycare.
Before he passed the door’s threshold though, he turned back to the jesters with a smirk on his face. “Oh, and Moon,” he waited for Moon’s head to turn back up to him, “Don’t be too rough with him.”
Moon flustered at that, attempting to sputter out a response before giving up, flipping off the gator as he left laughing, guffawing to himself as he ascended the stairs.
Once they could no longer hear Monty’s booming laughs, Sun and Moon turned to each other, both heavily embarrassed by the encounter.
Moon scratched at his neck strut awkwardly, looking anywhere but at Sun.
“I guess…” Moon started before seeming to deflate in stature, disappointed at not being able to pick up where they left off, “I should get going before she storms in herself, huh.” Moon looked over at Sun sympathetically.
Sun stood there awkwardly, his boner finally went away (killed by the awkward encounter), and now he just had a small wet stain on the front of his pants. “Y- yeah. Tell me how it goes?” Sun said as he walked towards Moon, rubbing his arm awkwardly.
“Of course,” Moon said, pecking Sun’s lips before leaving the daycare, “I’ll be back soon. Love you!”
“Love you too,” Sun waved him out, shutting the doors after him.
And how he was alone in the daycare. Alone, without Moon, and dissatisfied. He had been so close to finishing before Monty stormed in like a damn meteor crashing into the earth.
Sun could only sigh as he called the wire, hooking himself up before ascending towards his and Moon’s room. He flopped onto the bed, starfished across the covers.
A few minutes passed in boredom before he caved in.
Shimmying his pants off, Sun quickly got started with the process of stimulating his modesty plate, attempting to mimic Moon’s touch. As soon as he could, he had a rough grip around his dick.
Moon would be out for a while, so he might as well get some relief in the meantime.
