Forces Of Nature - Cassie

Summary:

The year is 2029.

A new species has made its way into the human world, and to no one’s great surprise, they are met with fear, anger and disgust.

These “freaks” should not be here!

However, amongst the darkness, one cat and one human find one another. He feels just about as different as she does and they are both scared and unsure as to what the future holds for either of them.

Maybe it’s crazy, but maybe they can stick together, increasing their odds in surviving a world that has not been kind to either of them?

Chapter 1: An Introduction

Chapter Text

The year is 2029.

No one really knew how it happened.

No one knew where they came from.

And no one knew why.

But sure enough, as sure as the sun in the daytime and the moon in the night,

they came.

<><><><><><>

They were called many things.

Some of which were obvious.

Most of which, could be classified as cruel.

Anthros.

Furries.

Animals.

Two-leggers.

Monsters.

Abominations.

…freaks.

<><><><><><>

They weren’t asked to be made in the way they were.

They weren’t given any help or advice.

And they weren’t welcomed by anyone.

They were feared.

Ridiculed.

Teased.

Spit at.

Cursed at.

Some struck back, and suffered repercussions.

Most stayed silent and simply tried to survive.

They were living things, after all.

They needed to eat.

They needed clothing.

They needed shelter.

They needed…love.

And yet, they settled for simply just…requesting it.

It was a request that would always go unanswered.

It took some time, before eventually laws were passed that allowed them to possess jobs and living arrangements.

A human man, who sympathized with the new arrivals, fought for their rights and appealed to Congress that as strange as they were, they were still living things and they deserved just as much of a chance as any other race, to survive in a constantly evolving world.

And so, rights were granted to them.

Anthros were given jobs, working side by side with the humans that had shunned them.

They were given homes and apartments, living next door to the humans that hated and feared them.

And even still, they were not welcomed.

Hatred only grew stronger.

Human on anthro crime ran rampant throughout the world.

Humans were proven innocent.

Anthros, even less so.

Racism against anthros flourished.

Fear overwhelmed all.

Anger reigned.

Anthros desperately tried to fit in.

To avoid confrontation.

To make peace with humans.

To be good employees.

Holding doors open for humans.

Using manners.

Being kind.

Showing love.

And still, it all fell on deaf ears.

Blind eyes.

<><><><><><>

What could a struggling anthro do to survive?

Would any one of them be able to break through?

To find a friend?

To find…love?

To find happiness?

To find a place where they could truly belong?

Where it wasn’t so dark and lonely and terrifying all the time?

What could one do…

What could one say…

<><><><><><>

Impossible.

The humans would never accept them.

They were too different.

Too strange.

Too wrong.

An affront to the definition of humanity.

An anthro could never belong.

An anthro could never find love.

That was how it had to be.

That was how it was going to be.

Forever.
