Work Text:
Finally after a month long project, Kaveh can come home. It such a relief to be able to sleep in his own bed again without dreadful deadlines hanging over his head. The one thing he had mixed feelings about was Alhaitham. Despite how annoying and stubborn he is, he can't help but feel comforted by the arrogant man's presence. They had an odd, but tight relationship. And Kaveh was kind of excited to see him again.
Kaveh makes it to the front door, his heart slightly pacing with anticipation. He shuffled through his pants to find his keys. His heart drops once he can't feel or hear it's jingle. "Oh god," he sighs. "Alhaitham!" He yells through the door, waiting for a response. But to no avail. He yells one more time and bangs on the door. "Open the door this instant, Alhaitham!" But once again, his demands are ignored. Just as he's about to check under the mat for a spare, hears a loud bang, causing him to freeze in place and quickly look up. Its followed shortly by the sound of glasses shattering. Kaveh furrows his eyebrows. 'What the hell is going on in there?!' He thinks to himself. He finds the spare and quickly enters the house.
His mouth gapes at the sight before him. Glasses shattered everywhere, a broken table, and most shocking, a large mass that appears to be Alhaitham, deflated on the floor. His entire leg was through the floorboard, which was also now extremely damaged.
"What the hell is going on here?!" Kaveh speaks with concern and a hint of fear.
Alhaitham groans and slowly rolls to the side. His voice deeper than he remembers. Between heavy breathes he says, "I was trying to get to the door, but I fell and brought the table with me... eughh-..."
It was such a pitiful sight... a position he wasn't used to seeing Alhaitham in... he was helpless, foolish, and extremely obese. That was the most shocking part of all.
"A-Alhaitham, what happened to you..?" Kaveh asked.
"I just told you," he snorted.
"NO I MEAN WHY DO YOU LOOK LIKE THAT?"
Alhaitham grunts in annoyance. "They are just some scratches from the glass... calm down, will you?" He coughs.
"Why are you so fat, damnit?!" He finally retorts.
Alhaitham squints his eyes at the blond and Kaveh decided to just shake it off and assist his roommate. "Whatever... it's fine..." Kaveh walks up to the silver haired male and tries pulling him to his feet unsuccessfully. "Alhaitham I don't know what to do, how did things get like this?!" He wails in frustration. All of his excitement has now turned into disappointment and confusion.
Alhaitham lost his tone completely. His appealing chest that Kaveh was looking forward to was gone. The blond was so desperate to see his gorgeous abs again. But instead he came home to a fat useless ball of lard. It was a hard sight to look at. But was it really fair for Kaveh to judge him? Maybe he was going through a hard time and he didn’t know about it. Maybe he even missed Kaveh so much he had to stuff his face to cope. The thought actually made Kaveh blush a little to himself.
"Kaveh," the larger man heaved. "The door."
Kaveh turned to the door to see two familiar silhouettes outside. Two pairs of very long ears! Oh how comforting it was to have some company right now that wasn't this big mass laid out in front of him. Kaveh quickly opened the door, welcoming Tighnari and Cyno with a sheepish smile. Cyno stood there with a blank expression while Tighnari looked at Kaveh with concern. "We came to see if everything was okay. We were out and about and heard a loud crash all the way from my place. The whole village was worried."
Kavehs jaw dropped at the statement, and he moved aside for the two shorter men to see for themselves. Tighnari and Cyno both just looked with empty gazes.
"Oh." Cyno let out. The room got quiet. "Al-whale-tham," the mahamatra continues.
In a burst of anger from the mockery, the scribe attempted to get up and give him a piece of his mind, but the shifting alone caused him to break more of the floorboards and fall deeper. Half of his body was now beneath the floor.

After about an hour of trying, the three successfully got him out of the man-made pit. Tighnari was sympathetic to Kaveh's obvious distress and thought of ways to help. "How about we all go to the Grand Bazaar and make a trip to the market?" The fox boy suggested the idea with a soft smile. The troubled blond looked at Tighnari with a confused expression. The fox was quick to full Kaveh aside. "I think it would be helpful to get him out of the house and force him to move around a bit. And do you really wanna be alone with him on your first day off?"
"You're right," Kaveh sighed.
And so, the three of them rolled Alhaitham to the Grand Bazaar. As they walked, Cyno eyed the man of mass. "So, how did it get to this point?"
"Mind your own business, you dullard."
"you're right. I should. After all, you are the mass-ter of intellect."
This time Alhaitham flails his limbs around, clearly in frustration over not being able to harm the mahamatra. "Stop talking." He grunts.
"Can you two stop and just enjoy the market..." The blond speaks with his gaze down. Alhaitham always had an attitude. But now he seems more angry than before and it worries his roommate.
Tighnari places his hand on Kavehs shoulder and points to a small shop. "Look, let's go get some tea. There are so many different kinds. I think it'll help you relax." Kaveh softly smiles at the fox, appreciating the clear attempt to make him feel better. The two smell all the different loose leaf teas and chat.
"So," Tighnari starts. "How did Alhaithem gain so much weight?"
"I have no clue! I left for a month to work on a project and when i come back he gained like 400 pounds!"
Tighnari placed his hand on his chin. "Actually if I were to guess, I'd say more like 600..."
"That's beside the point! What the hell caused him to get like this?! I wasn't here to witness anything!" Kaveh cries.
"Listen, I'm sure it's just a phase or a rut and we can help him get out of it. Especially now that you're here. I'm sure you don't realize it, but you mean a lot more to him than he shows."
Kaveh softy pouts at the fox.
"Oh my god this smells amazing," Cyno suddenly uttered beside them while placing tea by his nose. The two look at him with wide eyes and parted lips before looking around. "Where is Alhaitham?" Tighnari asks. The mahamatra fell silent, telling them everything they needed to know. After placing his hand on his forehead in distress, Kaveh turned around and began to look for his roommate. Surely he wouldn't be hard to spot.
It seemed like Alhaitham wasn't at the market at all. He decided to venture off a little and walked down a slope not too far off. It was little surprise to him when he spotted Alhaithem by a fountain stuffing his mouth with kebabs. The blond walked down to Alhaitham with a defeated look on his face. Once beside Alhaitham, he began to speak. "What are you doing down here Alhaitham?" His voice was noticeably softer than before.
The silver haired man ceased eating for a moment. "Cyno got distracted and I lost balance and rolled down here."
Kaveh just looked at him silently. Their eyes meeting for what seems like the first time since Kaveh had returned. "What happened to you?" He softly questions with a gentle tone.
Alhaitham turned away. "Leave me alone, would you? Honestly you should really be more focused on more important things."
Kaveh slowly furrowed his eyebrows. "Oh because it's SO wrong for me to be worried about this..."
"What you should really focus on, is not being such a clumsy idiot that leaves his keys laying around when he leaves the house."
"You took my keys you fat fuck, I know you did!"
"You're the one who left the house without them."
"God, just when i thought you couldn't get any more insufferable, I come home to this! Your attitude is somehow worse than before! I was actually excited to see you but I guess I was excited for nothing!" Kaveh fumes as he begins to turn away.
"Yeah well it's your fault I got like this in the first place!" Alhaitham retorts.
The latter freezes. "What?"
"If you wouldn't have left for so long than maybe I wouldn't have felt the need to distract myself with food..!"
The blond arched his eyebrows as he slowly faced Alhaitham again. "What are you saying? You missed me?"
"What..?" The silver haired male looked away. "No, I just... had to get used to it..."
Kaveh stood there in silence.
"Ok... fine... maybe i kind of missed you. I didn't know what to do with myself..."
"Alhaitham..." Kaveh placed his hand on the latter's round cheek. "I didn't think you cared so much."
"I don't." Alhaithem pouted and looked away in annoyance. Kaveh smiled softly. The two shared a close gaze with one another for what felt like forever before leaning in and taking in each other's lips. Kaveh slowly wrapped his arms around Alhaitham barely visible neck. Their kiss grew longer and sloppier over time.
"Alhaitham... let's go home..."
"Lemme finish first." He responds as he grabs his last kebab.

The two get home and things get steamy. Something about Alhaitham big belly started to attract the other. And something about Kaveh attracted Alhaithem too. He looked so yummy…
