Work Text:
With a comeback on the horizon, it's been too busy for San to slip. The other members were walking on egg shells around San. Snapping on the smallest of things, not taking care of himself, being overall rude.
Waking up on their first day off, the group knew a little San was going to come about. Seonghwa prepared the day before, getting San his favorite strawberry cake. Wooyoung pulled out San's box with all of the little stuff. With how stressed San had been, they didn't know what age San would be. Or what he would want to do.
~🐱~
San woke up feeling fuzzy. Feeling uncomfortable in his current outfit, he climbed out of bed. Going to his special box in his closet, he pulled out a purple soft top and gray sweatpants to change into. After struggling a little, he turned back to his bed to see Sandeoki looking back at him. An idea popped into his head. But he needed the other member’s plushies.
Walking out of his bedroom with Sandeoki, San heard noises in the kitchen. Walking into the kitchen he found Seonghwa prepping breakfast. “Good morning Sannie! Do you want to help me with breakfast?” The older one asked.
San shook his head and held up Sandeoki to Seonghwa. “I want bun bun”
“Bun Bun? He's in my bedroom. Hongjoong should be in there too, ask him” Seonghwa informed him softly. Before Seonghwa could ask anymore questions, San turned around and marched to Seonghwa’s room.
~🐿 🐇~
He opened the door to find Hongjoong sleeping in the bed. Normally this would call for taking a picture and sending it to the gc. San isn't big right now and there are more important matters. San goes over to the bed and pokes Hongjoong's face. San continues to poke until Hongjoong groans and swatches San's hand away. San sees Hongjoong open his eyes for a second until San is pulled into the bed by the older man.
“Appa, nooooooo” San whines as the older man holds him tight. “I need bun bun and Jjoongrami!” he exclaims.
“Shhh, sleep with me a little longer Sannie baby.” Hongjoong replies. A little ‘humf’ came out of San as he snuggled up to Hongjoong. After a couple of minutes filled with kisses and giggles; the older one asked “What are you planning today, little kitten?”
“A tea party, appa!” San says as he gets out of Hongjoong’s arms and looks around in the bed to find the plushes. He spots them at the head of the bed and goes to grab them. San leans a little too much and loses his balance. He falls onto Hongjoong.
“Careful Kitty” Hongjoong says underneath San. San mutters out a little ‘sowwy’ and moves off him. “Before you go, how old are you today?” the blue haired man continued.
“Four, appa!” With that, San is out of the room. Hongjoong chuckles as he texts the gc about little San.
~🐶🐥~
Back in the hallway, San decides to head back to his room with Jjoongrami, Ddeongbyeoli and Sandeoki. He sets them down on his bed and gives himself a little nod. A tea party is what they all need after the couple of chaotic weeks they had. San leaves the three plushies behind to find the others. He heads back into the main living area. To his delight, he finds Mingi and Yunho in the living room.
“Yuyu, Ming. I want goldy and chicken stuffy!” San demands, standing in front of the tallest members.
“not even a hello Sannie?” Mingi chastise.
“Leave him be, it's been three weeks since he's dropped. You are the same when you drop.” Yunho says as he gets up from the couch. A ‘whatever’ comes out pink dyed hair of the two. Yuhno turned his attention back to San, “Wanna go find them?”
A short nod was given and Yunho got up from the couch. “They are in Mingi’s room. You know he loves to keep them together.” Yunho supplies it with a wink. San giggles and walks out of the living room, down to Mingi’s room, not even checking if his Yuyu is behind him.
San opens the door and spots Tyudeongi and Bbyongming on the bed. Tucked in like they are ready to fall asleep. San yoinks them from their cozy spot and turns around to see Yunho in Mingi’s closet.
“what are you doing Yuyu?” San asks.
“Just getting a hoodie. Mingi looked cold on the couch.” Yunho supplies. The hoodie was a soft yellow color. Almost like the one Mingi likes to wear when he was feeling little too. Maybe he will have a friend to play with today. Everyone is great to play with but it is different when someone so close to you has similar ways of relaxing and handling the stress. Without another word, San leaves Yunho to his devices and returns to his room with the stuffies in tow.
San sets Tyudeongi and Bbyongming next to Jjoongrami, Ddeongbyeoli and Sandeoki. Looking at the plushes on the bed, San decides to get out his nicest blanket and set it on the floor. It's a plush purple blanket, perfect for sitting on. Then, he takes the plushes on the bed and places them in a circle on the blanket. He made sure to leave room for three more plushes. Satisfied with what he has done, he marches out of the room to find the others.
~🐻🐕~
To his luck, he finds Jongho in the kitchen with Seonghwa. “Hello Sannie, did you find bun bun?” Seonghwa prompted.
San was a man(kid?) on a mission and ignored his hyung. He went straight to Jongho and asked “where is bear and puppy plushes?”
Jongho eyes wided with the direct question and looks over at Seongawa. The platinum blond just shrugged his shoulders at the youngest. Jongho looked back to meet San's fierce eyes. “Um, bear should be in my room. Puppy should be in Sangie's room.”
Jongho watched San give him a forceful nod and then turned out of the kitchen. “It was a tea party he is having? Not a fight club?” Jongho wondered aloud.
~
“You know what they say, first rule of fight club, don't talk about fight club. Can you hand me the matcha green tea?” The platinum blond asked.
“How do you know what to make?”
“He wants the same thing every time.” The older one stops for a second. “Plus, he saw the strawberry cake last night. Probably planning to eat it with his friends.” Seonghwa finishes.
Jongho nodded and walked out of the kitchen. It was too early for this and a certain 98’ hyung would agree. He probably fell back asleep after sending the text. Cuddles are good before San decides to do something crazy.
~
San opened the door to Jongho's room. His eyes went straight for the desk. On top of the shelves on the wall, the Jjongbear there. San had to save him! If bear fell, he would hurt himself! San went to the desk and started to put his leg on top of it. He stretched out his arm to grab the stuffed animal. He could feel the soft fur on his finger tips. Before he could move the bear, he lost his balance, falling back onto the ground. San just laid there in shock of what happened. He couldn't comprehend the pain shooting from where his head hit the floor.
He must have caused a loud sound because Yeosang was in the doorway. The reddish hair man looked out of breath and fazed. “Sannie! Are you okay? What happened!?”
San opened his mouth but nothing came out. His eyes started to water up. “I- came in for-for bear and he- high up-save him” San stuttered out. Yeosang crosses the room and scoops San up into his lap. Yeosang started to rub his head where it hit the floor.
“Hey, it's okay. We will save him together. You should have come to someone for help. I don't like seeing my kitty hurt” Yeosang said in a deep, soft tone. San buried his head into the older, feeling shame. He heard someone else's voice in the room. He looked up to see the oldest with a worried face. He could feel Yeosang's voice reverberate though the older’s chest. After he couldn't feel any more vibrations, he looked up to meet Yeosang's eyes.
“It's okay. Hwa was just checking if you are okay. I told him you are. You aren't getting in trouble.” Yeosang soothing says. San nodded and pointed to the bear, slightly moved but still on the shelf. Yeosang chucked. “You want to grab it?”
San blushes and nods into Yeosang's chest. The red head lightly moves San off his lap so he could stand up. San pouted until he felt the older’s arms around his chest. San got the memo and stood up and hopped into Yeosang's side, arms around his neck. Yeosang held him on his hip and turned back to the shelf.
“I’m not too heavy?” San squeaks out.
“Never too heavy. Now you can get the Jjongbear.” With the added height, San moved his arm to easily grab the bear. Once the bear was in his grasp, he bought it close to his chest, holding it tightly. Yeosang chuckled again. “I guess we have to remind our honey bear not to place his little ones so high, huh?” San nodded fiercely to that statement. “Where to now?”
“puppy!”
Yeosang smiled and carried San out of the youngest room. Across the hall was Yeosang’s room. When they got to the door, San wriggled out of Yeosang's hold. “I can get puppy myself.” San declared and opened the door to get the stuffed animal. Yeosang followed behind to make sure the black haired man wouldn't get hurt. As soon as Yeosang took a step in the room, San was moving him out of the way. “Can't slow down. Got to get everyone ready” Yeosang heard San murmur on his way out.
~🐈⬛~
San took both of his newly acquired plushes to his room. He sat them down next to each other. Just one more to go and maybe the hardest one yet.
San made his way to Youngie’s room. He knew his boyfriend would mind if he took the plushie, but everything comes at a cost. San opened the door to find the long dark haired man still in bed, holding onto Wooyonyang. San scowled at the sight. It was going to be a fight to get the black kitty. San walked slowly to the bed, not to disturb the sleeping man. He slowly reached out and grabbed onto the ears that sat on the fake cat's head. With slow movements, he started to pull the cat up. It wasn't budging. With a huff, he used more force. Wooyoung tightened his grip on the plushie. A whine came out of San. The younger one briefly looked at Wooyoung's face to see if he had woken up. To his surprise, Wooyoung was staring back at him. San gasped and before he could back away, a hand grabbed his wrist. His eyes darted to his wrist where Wooyoung was holding him. “Do you think it would be that easy?”
San kept a brave face and nodded yes. “You know, you can't just take Wooyonyang. You must pay a price for him.” The man on the bed continued. San shook his head, hoping he could get out of what Wooyoung was about to do. “Aww, just because it's a day off, doesn't mean you are free from the…”
“TICKLE MONSTER!”
Wooyoung attacked his boyfriend. Pulling him into the bed and climbing on top of him. He started tickling the little one’s sides. Bright laughter immediately filled the room.
“NOOOOO!!! NO MORE PWLESAE!” San exclaimed, while trying to push Wooyoung off of him. The man just pulled him back in. Next thing San knew that wet kisses were all over his face. “EWWW!”
“What? You don't want my kisses, Sannie?”
“Not those kinds of kisses.” San deadpan face meet Wooyoung amused one. After a moment, Wooyoung's face softened into a smile.
“Okay, a few sweet ones” The man said he slowly brought San’s face to his lips. Soft, delighted, kisses were placed on his cheeks, forehead, eyes and even the tip of his nose. He couldn't help but giggle at his boyfriend's pecks.
For a moment, he forgot about his real mission. He peeked around as Wooyoung kept kissing different parts of his face. He spotted his target, left alone next to Wooyoung’s side. The side happens to be closer to the door. He could save Wooyonyang and run out the door and he could close said door on Wooyoung. He could run fast enough to make it to his room and lock the door. But could he do it?
San moved to look at Wooyoung. Their eyes met for a moment before San smirked, and grabbed Wooyonyang and bolted out of the bed. He crossed the room in 2 steps, not hearing his pursuer. San swung the door open and promptly closed it. A second later, he heard a thud in the room. He smiled and dashed to his room, knowing he completely caught Wooyoung off geared for once.
He passed Hongjong's door as the older man opened the door. “Hey! No running!” He heard him shout. San opened his door and slammed it behind him. His back hitting the door and locking it. Another moment later, he heard a loud thump that shook the floor a little bit. He heard Hongjoong shouting at someone. All he could hear was his voice a few seconds until the door handle shook.
“Sannie! You made me run into Hongjoong! How could you do that!” Wooyoung yelled through the door.
“I just wanted kitty!” San yells back. The door jingles a little more until a defeated sigh could be heard.
“Fine, you win this time.” Wooyoung said. “You can have him but don't ruin him!” Wooyoung warned. San just giggled to himself and placed Wooyonyang in his rightful place, between his purple kitty and a white puppy. He smiled at the whole placement.
~🍵🎂~
He grabbed the small table they stored in his room when he was little. Perfect for tea parties. Once he got the table out, he rearranged the plushes. In a circle, Sandeoki, Ddeongbyeoli, Jjoongrami, Tyudeongi, Bbyongming, Jjongbear, Hetmongi, Wooyonyang. With everyone in their spots, he had to get the supplies without being seen. He had to make two trips. One for the silverware and the other for drinks and snacks.
He huff and ready himself to sneak out his room. He put his ear to the door, trying to hear if there was anyone on the other side. He slowly opened the door to peek his head out, he saw no one in the hallway. He did not hear Wooyoung’s voice. He deemed it was safe to make his first trip. San darted out his door, closing the door as he left it. He slides into the kitchen. On the counter was a little basket with his note with San’s name on it. He smiled to himself and grabbed it. He runs out and finds himself back in his room.
He opened the basket and it had everything he needed! There were spoons, forks, tea cups and their saucers. There were also purple placements. He picked them out while he was big overseas. It was perfect to use when they had dinners together; when he was given the task to set the table while little. He had to give a special thanks to whoever put this basket together for him.
Once he set everything up, he looked at his floor. All of the plushes had their own tea cup with the accompanying saucers. The harder part was upon him. Drinks and cake.
He poked his head out again to check if anyone was in the hallway. He sped out his room again to find the food he needed. He found Seonghwa in the kitchen again. The older man turned around when he heard San approaching.
“I know this may upset you but, someone has to help you with your tea party, to make sure you don't hurt yourself.” Seonghwa spoke in a gentle voice. San frowned at what he heard. Then, an idea popped in his head.
“You will be my maid.” San stated. He left no room for argument in his tone. He watched Seonghwa give him wide eyes before slowly nodding. San beamed and started towards the fridge, knowing that is where his favorite cake was waiting for him.
“Ah! Don’t go in there. Just go back to your room and I’ll be right there.” The taller one said. San’s frown returned to his face. “I’m your maid afterall, right? Let me do my job, kitty.” The oldest wasn’t wrong. San’s eyes narrowed and nodded his head. Without another word, he turned out of the kitchen and left empty handed.
He didn’t have to wait long for a knock at his door. He opened the door to find the two oldest in front of it. He frowned when his eyes landed on the shorter one. “Appa isn’t my maid,” San said.
“Sannie, I needed Joongie for help. That is why. Are you okay if Appa joins?” Seonghwa explained.
“Hmm, sure”
Seonghwa beamed with the response. San let the two in. Seonghwa had an electric kettle in his hands, with a drink already in there. Hongjoong came in with a plate, with a cover on top of it, hiding whatever was inside. With the two in there, he found himself in his spot, behind Sandeoki. Seonghwa moved to sit behind Ddeongbyeoli while Hongjoong did the same with his stuffie. “I will pour tea for us and wait for everyone to serve the treat.” The oldest said. San nodded and watched the older pour tea for the three of them. Another knock was heard at the door. San got up and quickly opened the door. He found the twin towers standing in the doorway. He smiled at the two.
“Well, I heard there was a tea party going to happen. Are we invited?” Yunho asked. San nodded his head and let the two in. Mingi gave San a small hug before entering. He did note Mingi wearing the yellow hoodie Yunho got him earlier. San hopes the tea party will go on without a hitch but who knows. Once the towers found their spots next to their respective stuffie, his maid(Seonghwa) poured them tea. “Hongjoong, seems like Seonghwa is Sannie’s maid this afternoon. Wouldn't it be wonderful if he was in a maid outfit too? To complete the part?” Yunho said, a little too casually.
San saw his appa give a look of daggers towards Yuyu. He didn't fully understand why appa would be upset at the comment. Yuyu was right in his statement. Before San could voice his opinion, Hongjoong beat him to it.
“You better watch your mouth if you know what is good for you. There are little ones around” Both San and Mingi perked up at the comment.
“Wait, I’m not little!” Mingi proclaimed. Yunho turned his head to look at Mingi with soft eyes. Yunho chuckled and patted the other's head.
“Sure you aren’t. You were begging for this hoodie” Yuhno justified as he lightly pulled the hood. San heard Mingi make an ‘ack’ as the hood was being pulled back. “And you are right, appa” Yunho finished, with a smirk on his lips.
A light knock was at the door again. San hopped up to see who was at this door next. He did not want to think about what Yunho meant. In the hallway, he was greeted by Yeosang and Jongho. He pulled Yeosang into a hug.
“Ash, Sannie, don’t squish me!”
“But, you help me! Made sure I was okay. Sangie gets all the hugs!” San said while holding the reddish haired man. Once he let go, he turned to Jongho. “I guess you can come in”. Like a switch, he was cold to Jongho.
Jongho gasped and gawked at Yeosang, who got such a warm welcome. Yeosang chuckled at the youngest. “I’ll tell you later” He said as the two of them sat down.
A light conversation flowed in the room while they waited for the last person to arrive. San could have sworn he heard Jongho bring up Seonghwa not being in a maid outfit again. And he could have sworn he saw Yeosang hit the back of Jongho’s head. San and Yeosang locked eyes after the act. Yeosang brought a finger to his lips to mimic ‘Shh’, followed by a wink. After that, San started to play with Mingi as he waited for his boyfriend to arrive. They were chatting while using their respective stuffed animals. The final knock was heard before San could make Sandeoki and Bbyongming butt heads since Mingi said that yellow was the better color than purple. San abandoned the argument to let in the last guest. He opened the door to see his boyfriend. Wooyoung immediately went in for a hug, squishing the daylights out of him.
“Ahhh, let me goooooo” San whined. He wiggled to get himself out of the younger's hold.
“Sorry Sannie. My love is just bursting out of me!” Wooyoung exclaimed.
“Get in here! We have been waiting.” San heard Hongjoong speak within the room.
“You guys are just early. I am on time.” Wooyoung said matter of factly. San chuckled at the statement. Once Wooyoung let go of him; San grabbed his hand and led him to his spot. “Wonderful set up, Sannie. I’m proud of you” Wooyoung said as he kissed the older’s forehead. San nodded and looked to Sweonghwa with bright eyes.
Seonghwa poured the last member's drink and turned to Hongjoong. Hongjoong lifted his brows. “Joongie, the treat?”
“Oh, yeah, of course!" Their captain, his appa, pulled out the plate with the cover on it. He carefully took off the cover to reveal a strawberry cake from his favorite place. San felt like his eyes could pop out of his head with how wide he opened them.
“OMG THANK YOU!” San practically shouted into the room. He saw a few of his members wince at his loud voice but they did not say anything. San tried his hardest to sit still while Seonghwa cut the cake. He was the first one to receive a slice from the oldest.
As Seonghwa passed out slices Wooyoung couldn’t seem to help himself with his sly mouth. “Wouldn’t Hwa look so ho-” His eyes caught Hongjoong’s “Um, so cute in a maid outfit!?”
This time, it was Seonghwa that spoke up, “Yes, I would. I would have worn it if I had such an outfit. Now, shut it and eat your cake.” San saw Wooyoung throw his hands up, palms out in a way to say ‘my bad’. Both Yunho and Jongho laughed at the longhaired man.
“Such a good tea party Sannie. You did a wonderful job.” San heard Yunho say. San beamed up at the older. The other joined in with the compliments. San's face started to hurt with how hard he was smiling. When San finished his cake, somehow, Yeosang pulled out coloring books San kept in the room, along with crayons. When did he have a chance to pull those out, San would never know. Before San could start to color, Wooyoung lightly grabbed his chin.
“Looks like you have some frosting on you, let me get it.” Wooyoung licked his own thumb and then whipped it across San’s cheek.
“EWWW” San exclaimed and pulled away from his disgusting boyfriend. He didn't realize how strong he pulled away from Wooyoung until he bumped into Seonghwa next to him. San looked at the oldest with wide eyes. Seonghwa gave him a warm smile and opened his arms to him. San gladly leaned into the safe arms of his emmoa.
“Don’t worry Sannie. I’ll keep you safe.” Seonghwa said
“But, I won’t!” Someone said next to Seonghwa and invaded their space. Hongjoong reached over and started to tickle San. San giggled and writhed in the oldest’s arms. As he tried to escape the platinum blond’s arms, he wasn’t making it easy. San searched the room for help. He saw his saver was across the circle, in the form of Mingi.
“Princess! Save me!!” San squealed from Seonghwa’s lap. Mingi looked up from the coloring books he was holding. He dropped them and got up. In the blink of an eye, Mingi was crushing Hongjoong, with the older body under him. With Hongjoong not tickling him and the shock Seonghwa was in from seeing his boyfriend being flatten, San escaped the oldest arms. He could hear Yeosang and Jongho chuckling from their spots in the circle. San stared daggers at them for not helping. That only made the other two laugh more.
San went to the only person that hasn’t done him wrong so far, Yunho. He crawled into Yunho's lap and looked at him with the biggest puppy eyes.
“Ash, I’m not going to betray you, don’t worry” the blond said while patting San’s head.
“Hey, I saved you and this is how you repay me? Sitting in my Yuyu’s lap?” Mingi whined across the room. San stuck his tongue out at the pink haired man. Mingi got off of Hongjoong and grabbed the coloring book he had earlier and sat next to Wooyoung. San moved off of Yunho so he could lay down and start coloring too. He kept seeing Mingi glancing at Yunho with a pout on his face.
After a while, the chatter in the room started to die down. San could barely keep his eyes opened as he was drawing. “Looks like it's nap time” He heard a voice say.
“In hyung’s room?” San asks, looking at Seonghwa and Hongjoong? Or would be Hongjoong if the space was filled.
“Of course. Joongie had to step out to get the room ready. Do you want to join him?” Seonghwa explained. San slowly nodded his head and got up. Before he could go far, he picked up Sandeoki, then Wooyonyang, Hetmongi and Jjongbear. When he went to pick up Bbyongming, another hand grabbed it before he could. He looked up to see Mingi holding the other plushes. He smiled at the other man and then walked out to the hyung’s room. He didn’t look back, knowing everyone was going to join him.
Lucky, the door was already open so he didn't have to struggle with it. He saw Hongjoong toss the last pillow into the makeshift bed on the floor. San walked to it and then flopped down, startling the blue haired man.
“Sannie, careful. I don’t want you to hurt yourself.” Hongjoong lightly scolded as he got onto the bed. The others slowly started to file in. Wooyoung had pajamas in his hands for San to change into. San did not put up a fight as Wooyoung changed him. He joined the members on the bed. Seonghwa made room for him in the middle, San’s favorite place. He was accompanied by Mingi, as the other slipped further into his own little head space. Mingi was facing him while Wooyoung was behind him, like a big spoon.
Once everyone was settled, he heard Wooyoung ask, “How was your day, Sannie?”
“The best. I love you Youngie. Thank you.” San replied. He felt Wooyoung squeeze him a little tighter. San drifted to sleep with the fact that his members loved and cared for him.
