Chapter Text
It was an interesting relationship that the both of you had. You weren’t together, not really anyway, but you weren’t seeing anyone else. For Damian, you were his escape. You were the place he could let himself be vulnerable and be treated as his own person. Not as Robin, not as the son of Batman, not as the heir to the mantle, but as Damian. He wouldn’t be with you though; because to him, too much vulnerability was just weakness, and as Robin, as the son of Batman, as the heir to the mantle, there just wasn’t room for weakness. Ergo, there just wasn’t room for you.
And that’s alright with you, because for You, Damian was a reminder that you were lovable. As a Queen, you were often held to a standard above others, you didn’t get to make mistakes and when you succeeded it was expected. You were meant to be liked and you were meant to make sure you remained likable, but that gets lonely. Damian reminds you that even without the business success, even without the bow, even without the family name, you were Y/n, and sometimes that was enough. You wouldn’t be with him though, because being with him too much made you feel like maybe you could always be your real self, but that was dangerous, because what if Y/n wasn’t as favorable as Miss Queen? As Sparrow? What if she couldn’t succeed to make business deals and she couldn’t take care of things when Oliver couldn’t. What if Y/n just wasn’t good enough?
So you both became each other’s solace, for a limited time. And your occasional acquaintances often ended the same way.
