Love Like Thunder

Summary:

2013 – Los Angeles, CA.

“What are you doi-” Miles began to ask, before getting immediately cut off by Alex pressing the gas pedal into the floor, picking up speed at an incredible pace as he shifted into second gear. Miles’s breath was stolen from him in an instant, the force of acceleration pinning Miles back against his seat. The sharp, rumbling roar of the car filled the air.

It felt like Miles was surrounded by thunder, enveloping him on all sides and shaking him to his core. It was him and Alex, in the eye of the storm. Together.

Work Text:

Miles watched intently as Alex turned the key inside the ignition. The 1969 Pontiac GTO rumbled to a start, the sound amplified through an echo within Alex’s garage. The headlights warmly illuminated the dark wall in front of them.

With a grin, Alex turned to look at Miles.

“Buckle up, sweetheart,” Alex chuckled, giving him a wink. Miles rolled his eyes with feigned annoyance despite finding Alex’s over-the-top flirting quite endearing. He did as Alex told, clicking his seatbelt securely over his lap. He didn’t have to adjust his seat, as he was Alex’s usual passenger.

Alex placed his hand on the shift-knob of the car, putting it in reverse. Once in gear, he braced his hand on the back of Miles’s seat and turned to look over his shoulder. He backed the car out of the garage and driveway, intently focused as he pulled into the road. Where the streetlights failed to illuminate their surroundings ahead, the dim light of the full moon compensated.

“Where are ya takin’ me?” Miles asked with a slight smile. Having backed into the road, Alex withdrew his hand from the back of the passenger seat, brushing it past Miles’s arm. It was surely intentional, Miles thought. Shifting into first gear, Alex glanced over at him.

“Nowhere in particular. ‘S just a joyride,” Alex said casually as he began to slowly accelerate. He took his time approaching the speed limit, as they were still in a residential area. Luckily, Alex knew the complex layout of the winding backroads near his house like the back of his hand.

The back of his hand was, interestingly enough, where Miles found his gaze drifting to. With his eyes, he mapped each knuckle and subtly visible vein. When Alex shifted gears, Miles saw his hand slightly flex. He swallowed before subconsciously biting his lip, still watching Alex’s hand. Miles let his gaze fall again onto familiar fingers, Alex’s index tapping the shift-knob lightly to the beat of whatever song was playing quietly over the radio. Miles didn’t care to notice what it was. On his little finger, Alex wore his signature ‘Death Ramps’ signet ring. Miles’s favorite. His left hand rested on the top of the steering wheel, calm and steady yet in control.

In control.

That was something Miles liked about Alex when he was driving. He was confident, almost too sure of himself, but always in control. Miles loved the timid, introspective Alex that was securely tucked away behind his whole rockstar persona. While this was true, there was something special about the way Alex behaved when he was behind the wheel.

He was a skilled driver, each move expertly calculated without too much thought. He knew how to adjust his driving to any car he stepped into, almost communicating with it in a way Miles never seemed to get the hang of.

Most importantly, however, was the way his confidence glowed when he sat in the driver’s seat. Maybe it was the power trip of controlling 1600 kilograms of metal and pure force with just a steering wheel, shifter, and three pedals. It brought out a side of Alex that Miles rarely got to see, making it all the more special.

Miles’s attention was once again redirected to Alex’s hands. Hands that Alex could use to push him against a wall. Or onto a bed, pinning him down. They were hands that Miles had felt running up underneath his shirt time and time again. Fingers that expertly played the guitar and touched Miles with just as much exceptional skill.

“You’re awfully quiet.” Alex pointed out, not needing to look at Miles to guess where his mind had wandered to.

“Hm?” Miles snapped out of his trance-like state.

“What’s on your mind?” Asked Alex, trying to conceal a smug smile that had crept onto his face.

“Oh. Er- nothing,”

“Doesn’t seem like nothing.”

Miles huffed out a nervous laugh, lacking a response.

He glanced out the window, suddenly aware of his surroundings. Dark trees flew by on either side of them, a distinct change in scenery from the last time Miles had looked out the window. They had long since left behind the warmth of streetlights and distantly illuminated skies that hovered above far-off cities.

The only remaining sources of light were the moon, the headlights of the vehicle on the road ahead, and the subtle glow of the dashboard that just barely lit Alex’s features. All else was in a blanket of shadows, with only outlines of unclear shapes visible in the pale moonlight. The winding forest road they had been traveling opened up to a long straightaway ahead that intersected a large, open field.

Downshifting, Alex brought the vehicle to a complete stop in the road just before they broke the tree line. Miles turned to look at him, confused as to why he had stopped in the middle of the empty road. As Miles opened his mouth to speak, Alex placed his hand on the shifter and pressed his foot down on the clutch pedal, moving into first gear.

Third gear. Their surroundings were no more than a blur.

As Alex shifted into fourth gear, Miles remembered how to breathe. Alex laughed, bracing the steering wheel with his knee to keep the car angled straight ahead before reaching his left hand out the window. Miles watched in awe as Alex grinned, reaching out into the night and letting the force of the wind push against his hand. Miles remembered doing the same thing as a kid, in the back seat of his family’s minivan on long road trips.

Alex looked over at him for a moment, and it felt like time had stopped. His smile had Miles falling in love again for the hundredth– no, thousandth time.

It was them alone in the car together, flying through the empty expanse of the field in the middle of the night as if they were the only two people on Earth. They both silently wished the moment would last forever.

As they approached the end of the field, Alex brought his outstretched hand back to the wheel, simultaneously slowing down. He shifted back down to third gear, preparing for the road to get windy again as they re-entered the forest.

“Holy shit,” Miles breathed out, still in awe.

“Yeah?” Alex chuckled, glancing momentarily at Miles. Even in the dim light, Alex could see Miles blushing.

“Yeah.”

Keeping his eyes on the road, Alex let his right hand move off of the shift-knob and onto Miles’s knee. Because there was no raised center console, it was easy for Alex to reach over. Feeling Alex start to slide his hand up, Miles’s breath hitched.

Alex’s gaze was still set on the road ahead as he slid his hand over Miles’s thigh. With the tip of his middle finger, he traced up the inner seam of Miles’s jeans. Miles bit his lip, trying to stay focused. He stared straight ahead, despite his mind being elsewhere entirely.

Just as fast as his hand was there, Alex withdrew it. Miles turned to look at Alex. Alex did not look back at him. Despite this, he had a smirk on his face that made his intentions fully clear. Miles felt his face heating up.

He became increasingly aware of the constant thunderous rumble of the car as Alex downshifted to take a tight curve in the road. The sound had once blanketed the steady tension that had been increasing from the moment they sat in the car together. It was no longer enough, however, to mask the continuous and ever-growing pull between them.

Miles slid his hand onto Alex’s thigh this time, just as Alex had done to him a moment earlier. Alex drew in a breath.

“Miles,” Alex spoke flatly, not breaking his focus on driving.

“Hm?” Miles hummed, an air of innocence to the sound.

“Cut it out. ‘M driving.”

“Cut what out?” Miles said, his hand brushing over the front of Alex’s pants.

“Miles.”

“Yes?”

Alex didn’t respond this time. Instead, he placed his hand on top of Miles’s. For a fraction of a second, he held it there, unable to resist granting himself that momentary satisfaction. He moved Miles’s hand away just after.

Neither of them said a word. The tension in the air had become so thick that it was nearly impossible to breathe. The seconds that ticked by felt more like hours. Alex rolled up his window, Miles doing the same.

“Alex,” Miles murmured, just above a whisper.

Alex swallowed. He didn’t respond.

“Pull over.”

Again, Alex didn’t answer. Instead, his response came approximately thirty seconds later, when he made a sharp turn off the main road and into a small unpaved parking lot. Alex silently thanked himself for remembering that there was a trailhead of a small walking path there.

He immediately put the car in park and took the key out of the ignition so the lights would turn off. He looked over at Miles and blinked, eyes adjusting to see his silhouette unbuckling his seatbelt and turning to face him. Alex bit his bottom lip.

In one swift motion, Alex unbuckled his own seatbelt and pounced on Miles in the passenger seat, pinning him against the door as their lips crashed together. The little sound that Miles made was quickly swallowed up by Alex’s hungry, open-mouthed kiss. Miles felt a hand blindly feeling up his arm before intertwining fingers with his, pinning his hand against the window beside his head. Feeling the cold glass of the window against his skin, Miles gasped into Alex’s mouth. He flinched slightly, seeming to make Alex hold him down with more force than before.

Adrenaline rushed through Miles’s body as he felt Alex adjusting their position so he could straddle him, trapping him in the seat and continuing to hold his hands down on either side of him. Miles squirmed as Alex trailed hurried kisses down his jaw and to his neck before slowing down and taking his time as if he couldn’t get enough of him.

Wet, sloppy kisses turned into Alex sinking his teeth into the side of Miles’s neck, eliciting a sharp whine. Alex sucked on the supple skin before pulling back to admire the red and purple hues that blossomed where his mouth had been a moment earlier. He brought his hand to Miles’s neck, brushing his fingers over the mark he left and experimentally applying pressure. Miles’s breath hitched, making Alex smile. His gaze flicked up to Miles’s face as he let his hand rest at the top of his neck, just below his jaw. Alex studied his expression as he slightly tightened his grip.

Miles’s eyes fluttered shut, his lips slightly parted and glossy with spit. Alex tilted his head to the side, staring down at Miles. He squeezed his neck lightly again, watching Miles’s brows furrow.

“Feels good?” Alex whispered, leaning in close to his ear. Miles nodded almost frantically.

“Use your words, Mi,” Alex continued before kissing his cheek: an endearing act for the situation they were in.

“Y-yeah. Fuck-” cursed Miles as he felt Alex squeezing his neck tighter. Alex’s fingertips dug into the pressure points on either side of his neck, making him dizzy.

“Like this?” Alex pressed down slightly harder.

“Harder-” Miles whined, voice shaky.

A rush of heat went through Alex. He clenched his jaw, trying to keep calm as he tightened his grip on Miles’s neck. He rolled his hips down against Miles’s lap, unable to stop a groan from escaping his lips when he felt how hard Miles was. Miles had just realized both his hands were free again, so he wasted no time in grabbing at Alex’s hips and guiding him to keep moving.

Alex hissed, face only inches away from Miles’s. Each breath was shared between them with little distinction. When Alex finally let go of Miles’s neck, Miles gasped for air. He was panting and staring up at Alex with blown-out pupils. Miles let his head fall to the side, using two fingers to lightly tap the side of his neck: a signal for Alex to kiss him there.

Alex pulled at the neck of Miles’s t-shirt, gaining access to his collarbone and immediately licking a stripe up the side of his neck before biting down hard. Miles groaned, his hands grabbing onto the fabric at the front of Alex’s shirt and holding him close.

Sucking at the skin he held with his teeth, Alex left another bruise. And another. And another.
Soon enough, Miles’s neck was covered in sensitive reddish-purple marks.

Alex snapped out of his possessive trance, pulling back to look at Miles again.

The bruised skin on his neck was covered in Alex’s spit, making it appear almost glossy. He flinched when Alex touched it, sending a strong wave of instinctual need through Alex’s entire being.

He reached for the door handle, grabbed it, and pushed the car door open with his foot. He proceeded to climb off of Miles’s lap and out the door, standing and looking down at him. Miles stared up at him, dazed.

“Get up.” Alex commanded, smirking when Miles immediately obeyed. He pushed the door closed behind him. Miles turned to face Alex, placing the shorter man between him and the side of the car. Alex leaned back against the passenger side door, reaching out and grabbing Miles’s shirt. Miles allowed Alex to pull him in close, pressing Alex against the metal and cold glass.

Miles slotted his leg between Alex’s, feeling his clothed erection against his thigh. Alex drew in a quick breath. He grabbed the back of Miles’s neck and used that to pull him into a kiss, his tongue easily slipping into Miles’s open and eager mouth. Miles braced himself against the car on either side of Alex’s body, not daring to hold Alex down. This time, he wanted Alex to be in control.

When Alex pulled away, his eyes were still fixated on Miles’s lips. With his thumb, he pressed down on his bottom lip, slightly swollen from kissing. It was soft and warm, in a way that welcomed Alex to gently push his thumb past it and into Miles’s mouth. Of course, he couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

The pad of his thumb brushed over Miles’s bottom teeth before pressing against his tongue. Miles was breathing heavily, hot air against the rest of Alex’s hand that came in waves with each exhale. Alex felt Miles’s tongue swirl over his fingertip, a lewd gesture that he was familiar with in another context. Desire twisted through Alex’s mind and body. Withdrawing his finger, Alex wiped the spit off on Miles’s cheek.

Alex placed his hand on Miles’s shoulder and stared into his eyes. His gaze was steady and unwavering. He pushed down lightly on Miles’s shoulder. There was no real force behind it: it was not an attempt to push him down to his knees, but a command for him to fall.

And he did.

In a heartbeat, Miles had dropped to his knees before Alex. The rocky dirt parking lot was far from comfortable, but the dull ache in his knees was hardly noticeable when he could hear his own heart pounding with Alex right in front of him.

He looked up at Alex, feeling his already messy hair being pushed out of his face by gentle hands. Alex was nothing but a dark silhouette, outlined by a faint glow of the moon.

Miles leaned in, nuzzling his face against the tented front of Alex’s jeans. Amongst the nighttime forest ambience and the steady sound of blood rushing in his ears, Miles heard Alex draw in a breath. Alex almost thought he could feel Miles’s breath, though it was more likely the heat of his own desire. He grabbed the hair on the back of Miles’s head, pulling him back.

“Go on,” Alex urged in a low voice, breathing heavily. He was getting impatient.

Miles reached up and undid the button of his pants, hands trembling with anticipation. He fumbled with the zipper, staring up at him with wide brown eyes. Alex’s hand remained in Miles’s hair, the other relaxed at his side. He wanted to watch Miles take his clothes off him, so he consciously made no effort to help. Miles tugged at the waistband of Alex’s jeans and boxers, pulling them down to his mid-thigh.

Almost immediately and without hesitation, Miles took hold of him. Alex bit his bottom lip, and his brows furrowed as he watched Miles softly kiss him. Everywhere. Miles kissed his hips, his lower stomach, his thighs.

What a fucking tease, Alex thought as Miles planted a light kiss on his hip bone.

Finally, his focus was diverted again back to his task at hand. Painfully slowly, Miles dragged his tongue up the underside of Alex’s length before ending the motion in one final kiss, this time at his tip. Alex groaned, his grip on Miles’s hair tightening. The dull aching pain of Alex’s harsh grip pushed Miles to keep going.

He flicked his tongue over Alex’s slit, lapping at a bead of pre-cum as he felt Alex twitch in his hand. Knowing how impatient Alex was getting, Miles finally eased him fully into his mouth. Alex stared down at him, pure adoration blooming inside his chest as he saw how focused Miles was on fitting him in his mouth.

Instead of pulling on his hair this time, Alex gently ran his fingers through it to silently praise him. Miles started moving, slowly. He looked back up at Alex, waiting for the verbal praise he desperately sought. His eyes were glossy, abyssal pools that seemed to pull Alex in.

Everything about Miles was fucking addictive. His dark eyes, his messy hair, his flushed face. The way he sat on his knees before Alex, practically worshipping him. Alex really was obsessed. Just when he was certain it couldn’t get any better, he felt Miles swallow around him. The moan that Alex let fall from his open mouth was a sound he didn’t know he was capable of making. Clearly, Miles hadn’t known that either, seeing as he quickened his pace in hopes of eliciting a replicated noise from Alex.

“Yeah, that’s it. So good…” Alex praised, ruffling Miles’s hair again. This time, it was Miles who moaned, a low, muffled sound. The vibrations from it seemed to course through Alex’s body, drawing out a significantly louder response.

They both became suddenly aware of a distant sound, getting louder as it approached. Tires on asphalt. The steady whir of an engine. Through his peripheral view, Alex noticed headlights.

There was a car coming.

Alex carded his fingers through Miles’s hair again, this time finding purchase and holding tight. Miles whined, but his mouth was too full for it to be very audible. Alex’s mind raced.

The only thing between them and the road was Alex’s car. Alex’s car that they were both significantly taller than. The thing was, since Miles was occupied on his knees, only the upper quarter of Alex’s body would be visible over the car.

Of course, the only logical thing for them to do was keep going.

Miles glanced up at Alex nervously, trying to pull off of him as he realized there was an approaching car. Alex’s grip in his hair tightened, holding Miles where he wanted him.

“C’mon, don’t stop. They can’t see us.” Alex huffed, out of breath. Neither of them knew that for certain, though.

The idea of them getting caught made Alex’s stomach flip. He held Miles in place, thrusting into his mouth now at his own accord. Miles groaned and willed himself not to gag with how Alex repeatedly hit the back of his throat.

The sound of the approaching car got louder and louder until it passed, not slowing or providing any sort of evidence that they had so much as noticed Alex’s car in the empty lot.

Alex sighed, the sound quickly turning into a low groan as his attention was drawn back to Miles.

“See? You’re doing so well, baby…” Alex purred, his rough hold on Miles’s hair still manipulating each of his movements. The way Miles let him have full control made Alex dizzy. It clearly had quite the effect on Miles, too.

From its place on Alex’s thigh, Miles’s right hand dropped. It fell between his legs, Miles beginning to palm himself through his pants. He moaned loudly, the sound trapped and unable to leave his mouth. It didn’t take more than a moment or two for Alex to notice where Miles’s hand had strayed to.

“Hands off, you can wait.” Alex breathed out. Though Miles had begun to whine in protest, Alex was already pushing his head down further.

Alex wasn’t sure when he had gotten so close, but fighting the oncoming heat that swirled through him had become suddenly unbearable. Everything Miles did brought him infinitely closer to the edge that he teetered on, unsteady and desperate.

Reckless, frenzied thrusts had Miles’s eyes tearing up as he struggled to withstand Alex’s frantic pace. He could hardly breathe. Alex gasped, his head falling back as he pulled Miles’s hair for the final time, holding him down as he filled his mouth.

For Alex, the steadily growing buzz of pleasure reached a peak. It felt like lightning, everywhere. White-hot electricity taking full control. It was something far stronger than him, leaving him unable to fight it. His legs threatened to buckle underneath him. Alex cursed, moaning sharp and loud as he came with a final stutter of his hips.

Miles let himself be used until Alex had decided he was done, easing him off with a wet ‘pop’ sound. Miles seemingly made a show of swallowing again, opening his mouth afterwards as proof. Alex gently petted his hair as they both took in heavy, uneven breaths.

Alex watched with a lopsided smirk as Miles wiped his wet mouth and chin with the back of his hand. Still looking up at Alex in search of affirmation, Miles proceeded to lick his hand where it had picked up the mixture of spit and cum from his face. Alex was lightheaded.

Despite his momentary dizziness, Alex reached out a hand and helped Miles to stand. How sweet, Miles thought. Alex ensured that he was steady on his feet before doing anything else.

Feeling exposed, Alex pulled up his pants and boxers, re-doing the zipper and button. Alex glanced back up to see Miles standing in front of him, hands fidgeting with the hem of his shirt.

Alex suddenly couldn’t wait to get his hands on him.

The remaining adrenaline in his body was redirected as he took Miles’s hand and pulled him in before flipping them around so Miles was against the car. He wasted no time in having him pressed up against the passenger-side door.

The moment Alex’s hand slid down Miles’s body, he was begging for more. Just to tease him for a moment longer, Alex hesitated with his fingers tucked into the waistband of Miles’s pants.

“Please…” Miles whimpered, his breath hitching as Alex hastily undid the button and zipper before tugging them down just enough to have access to him.

“Please, what?” Alex spoke in a low voice.

“Al, please I- I need you,” Stuttered Miles, the desperation becoming too much to bear.

“Mhm…” Alex hummed, leaning in to kiss him. Alex’s kiss was light, so soft against Miles’s lips that he could feel Alex sigh contentedly. Just as gently as he kissed Miles, Alex wrapped steady and skilled fingers around Miles’s length.

Instantly, Miles became a whining mess. He was unbelievably sensitive, trembling under Alex’s light touch.

Alex pulled back from the kiss for a moment before tucking his face into Miles’s neck just as he did earlier. He nudged into the sensitive bruises he had left, eliciting another whimper from Miles.

Alex took pride in how well he knew Miles. The pace at which he moved his hand, the angle of each perfectly-timed upstroke, it was all a result of his unwavering love. He brushed his lips over the side of Miles’s jaw, mouthing at the rough skin. Miles smelled like his cologne, his aftershave, and his sweat, and it drove Alex half-insane. All the things that made him intoxicating. The things that made Miles… Miles.

Miles couldn’t prevent his back from arching, his hips rolling against Alex’s fleeting touch. Quickening the motions of his hand, Alex simultaneously let his teeth graze over the front of Miles’s neck. Miles groaned, his head falling back.

“That feels good?” Alex sighed, an excuse to hear Miles trying to speak again. He already knew it felt good from Miles’s reactions.

“Uh-huh- yeah,” Miles panted, his hands finding their way to Alex’s hair. Alex felt the vibrations of Miles speaking, lips still pressed against his throat. Alex couldn’t get enough of him, unable to stop himself from biting at Miles’s neck. Miles let out a low whine, sensitive where Alex bit down. Despite the pain, the sensation sent rippling heat throughout Miles’s body. The pleasure was reaching a point of becoming overwhelming.

Knowing how desperately Miles was chasing his release, Alex let his hand move faster. Miles was achingly hard, his mind foggy and feverish with desperation.

“Close?” Alex asked before biting just beneath Miles’s ear. Again, he didn’t actually need to ask. Miles’s breathless whimpers, trembling body, and quick, uneven thrusts into Alex’s closed fist told him all he needed to know.

“Y-yes, yes, yes- fuck-” Miles gasped, curses turning to high-pitched whines as he let Alex push him over the edge. The pain of Alex’s teeth sinking into his neck sent him reeling. It was too much and not enough all at once.

The dull, aching want had grown to become a sharp, instinctual need that drove Miles to whimper Alex’s name. Miles’s cries pushed Alex to go harder, faster, rougher, a relentless cycle that went on until Miles’s was falling apart under Alex’s hands. With a final brush of his thumb, Alex had Miles moaning in desperate sobs as he came.

Alex held him for a minute, letting Miles regain his breath. He was incredibly gentle, tracing soothing shapes into Miles’s back while whispering to him how well he did.

Noticing the mess Miles had made, Alex gave him a quick kiss before going to grab a spare t-shirt he had behind the driver’s seat. It was there for situations such as this one. Between soft kisses and reassuring words, Alex helped Miles clean up.

Once they were both back in the car with their clothes fully on again, Alex leaned over to kiss Miles on the cheek. His hand instinctually went to rest on Miles’s neck, making Miles flinch slightly as it brushed over the lingering marks there.

“Sorry,” Alex said with a sheepish grin and flushed face. Miles shot him a pretend glare, trying his hardest to appear angry.

“ ‘m kidding, it’s fine, love,” Miles giggled when Alex pouted at his initial reaction.

Alex pressed down on the clutch before turning the keys in the ignition and starting the car. Once again, the engine rumbled as the vehicle came to life. Alex buckled his seatbelt before turning to look at Miles.

Miles tilted his head, wondering why Alex hadn’t started driving. Alex raised an eyebrow, giving him an expectant look.

“How many times do I have to tell you to buckle your seatbelt?”
