Work Text:
Seven houses, 2 apartments and 1 shelter.
Uzi had easily moved from place to place over the years, Her dad being unable to stay in one place for long lead to that.
But now? Today? She was moving into a place where she’d finally be happy.
With V.
They’d been dating over two years now, and they’d found an apartment.
She’d finally get somewhere stable. Somewhere she stay for years without having to worry about avoiding people to just not get attached.
She didn’t have that many clothes or items overall,
Moving was easier when you packed light. So she was able to stuff all her belongings in a duffel bag. one obviously adorned with patches and paint marks.
now all she had to do was sit on the curb, waiting for V to come pick her up.
Her dad was at work, he knew she was moving out but couldn’t get the day off. Uzi had already seen the alcohol he bought the few days prior.
Was this a good idea?
She wasn’t sure.
She glanced up from her phone to see the red truck slow to a stop infront of her, the window rolling down.
“Hey there beautiful, you ready to go?”
V pulled her sunglasses up onto her head.
Uzi just smiled, standing up and hauling her bag into the back of the truck.
“Yeah, you’re here early.”
V shrugged, leaning back in the car seat.
“Didn’t wanna keep you waiting.”
She walked around the front of the truck, opened the side door and climbed into the seat. Noticing the can of monster and a sandwich in the cupholder.
“Thought you might be hungry.”
.
She paused, a small blush appearing on her face.
“..Thanks, V.”
“No problem.”
She turned the key in the truck and soon they were driving.
Uzi looked out the window, watching the neighbourhood she’d begin to recognise slowly get left behind.
She had lived here the longest, a whopping 3 years. That was a record.
It used to be every few months or years. But they had to settle down simply because her dad couldn’t afford to keep moving.
But now she had a job, and could afford to buy a freakin apartment! Well- not fully, she could only afford half. V was covering the other with her own job. They’d split the bills and chores and everything.
The only thing of furniture they’d actually bought was a wardrobe and a bed, the rest was a job for their week off next month. One they’d been able to get together.
She couldn’t help her leg shaking with the contained excitement, she didn’t admit it but she had a ton of doodles and notes on different ways they could decorate any of the rooms..even with links to furniture items online.
She reached down and pulled the notebook out of a side pocket on the bag, grabbing a pencil from the door pocket and beginning to scribble down even more ideas.
V glanced to her left, eyes momentarily reading over Uzi’s doodles. Before she focused back on the road.
“How long you been working on that?”
“couple months.” She replied, she wasn’t..technically lying. Though she had actually been planning her dream home for years. The earliest plan dating back to when she was 13.
“Mhm..sure. We’re almost there by the way.”
That made Uzi stop, she looked up and out the window again. Mouth dropping open.
She had no freaking idea where they were.
“uh..we are?”
V nodded.
“Yup, 20 minutes give or take.”
“..ohh..ha..ha..great. I totally knew that.”
She tried to sound less awkward, face flushing from embarrassment.
V chuckled.
“Relax, you’ve like, never been down this way before. You’ll get used to it soon though.”
“..okayyy..have you got the keys?”
Uzi sat up properly, leaning against the window.
“course I do. Now eat that sandwich before I do.”
Uzi rolled her eyes, but picked up the sandwich anyways.
“Chicken and Mayo, really?”
V shrugged.
“You’re picky, don’t blame me.”
she peeled off the plastic, grabbing one of the triangle-shaped sandwiches and taking a bite.

It had only taken a few more minutes than expected to reach the apartment block.
But here it was.
V had way more bags than Uzi, atleast 5. So they had to take a couple trips up the elevator.
Once they reached the front of their apartment door, Number 3071. V pulled out the key and slid it into the lock.
‘Click’
She pushed the door open.
