Work Text:
Tobias hates Times Square.
It’s loud, it’s bright, it’s crowded, there’s too many people just standing there and not going anywhere, there’s about a million stores all trying to sell bullshit, a million people trying to sell bullshit… it’s just bad.
So, like any respectable New Yorker, Tobias hates Times Square.
But his boyfriend is not a New Yorker. His boyfriend hasn’t even been to New York until now. And his boyfriend really wanted to see Times Square.
So Tobias is standing in Times Square, trying to ignore everything, as Gabin takes it all in.
But when Tobias looks at Gabin looking around him in awe, he finds that it’s not so hard to ignore everything.
Tobias takes in the way Gabin turns around, how he arches his body as he strains his neck trying to look up at everything, how he steps around other people gracefully… and suddenly a piece starts to form in his mind.
Tobias can picture it- a turn here, a jump there, three whooshes one right after another- but it’s not enough.
“Gabin,” he calls, getting his boyfriend’s attention, “I need you to mark some steps for me.”
Gabin’s eyebrows raise. “Here? Right now?”
Tobias pauses in putting his headphones on. “Yes.”
“We’re going to look insane!”
“Gabin, we passed an Elmo with his head off doing a line of cocaine off a bus stop bench not even thirty feet away. Dancing in Times Square is probably the least insane thing to happen in Times Square.”
“…Touchè. How do you want me?”
