Chapter Text

The stomach twirling stench of the contamination zone that clung to the air, and burned its way to your nostrils as you stared into the pure abyss of nothing. The Gas mask hung onto your neck, like a souvenir, but it was the harsh reality of the surface. Or how they above call it, Hell. Hell was just for Heaven one way of throwing the old or broken things away without any thought. Is it an Item, an animal, or even a human. They let it rot under the dead sky without a second thought.

As if it doesn’t have any value.

You hated it here. With every vibrant of your body you hated it. Your eyes travelled to the pile of trash that held a unknown story to you. You’ve wondered your whole life how it is living as a Spherites over the clouds with full luxury. Your legs carried you through the sand of garbage, bumping through the amount of hard and soft textures sometimes still gave you the ick.

How can humans be so non caring?

Don’t they have anything that’s special to them?

A soft tune got your attention as you searched from where the noise was coming from. It was an alligator plushie, a bit torn but still cute in its own way. With a swift motion you pulled the plushie from the trash which was on top of it, ripping one of the button eye in the process. Against your will a faint smile pulled at your lips.

“What ya smiling at?”

The sudden voice made you flinch, you spun your metallic vocal chords already burning, ready to attack. Jabber’s grin was as masochistic as ever. “Jabber..?”

His grin only widened, “I rarely see you smile.” You grit your teeth as he began to laugh, without needing to say another word you let the plushie fall back, the thread of silk only waving in the wind.

“Let’s go.”

Jabber muttered something under his breath, but you couldn’t care any less of what he has to say.

Life as a Raider was nothing like you once imagine. And still you were here, with them. Even if it was just a faint memory when you joined them, they were welcoming, and with no other chance of surviving, they took you in.

With open arms.

A sigh escaped you, It was all a lie. All that he wanted way your Voice.

Your Jinki.

The Raiders needed it. A voice that could heal, destroy, shape or kill. And it is all thanks to that mechanical chords stitched into your throat. Zodyl says it is a gift. For you? It was rather a curse. A blade turned inward.

Such strong powers always exacts its toll. Each time you use it, you felt a piece of yourself slowly slipping away, into silence. Humanity bleeding away, leaving you in the cold. You wondered how much longer you’d be able to feel anything at all.

You halted in your tracks when Jabber stopped in his. “Are you ready?” Excitment, that is what waved off of his body. You straightened, Your safety mask of apathy falling back into place as you secured the gas mask on your face. “Yes. I want to see what the Cleaners are capable of.”

“Oh yes! Finally!” His scream of joy cracked the silence in the air like a rusted metal. “I’ve been dying to see him again!”

You barely heard him, his words were just some noises. Just another layer of junk in this rotten world.

******

“Where did you say our client was?” Rudos voice cracked the silence.

“He should be here somewhere…” Enjin scanned the lifeless town. It is still a quite sad thing to see, even here on the surface. The buildings sagged like corpses, and the air was too still, way too still. “Helloooo?!” His useless call vanished into the nothingness.

“Maybe the client isn’t here,” Follo muttered, hefting the massive hammer that slung dangerously across his back.

Then came a sound of footsteps, Calm, steady. Invetable.

They turned.

“Nice meeting you.”

The Chill in your unnatural voice made even the air tighten.

Enjin stiffened. Knowing too well that something was very off, “The name’s Enjin. So… you’re our client?”

“Sadly, no.” Your smile that etched you face, that didn’t even reached your eyes was making them all uncomfortable. “Your client is…taking a little nap.” You gestured towards the unconscious man at your feet. Saliva was running down his nose and he looked pretty dead.

“What did you do to him” Rudo shouted, his red burning eyes was filled with rage.

You rolled your eyes in annoyance. “Trust me. He got the better end.”

That was when everything broke loose.

Jabber lunged first from behind. As planned nobody was expecting him. Claws glinting, mad laughter spilling from his throat. He slammed into Follo, forcing him back, Luckily Follo put his hammer between him and the attacked. The clash rang like thunder. Follo swung his hammer in a brutal arc, the air itself seeming to shatter from the force. Jabber ducked low, claws scraping sparks across the cobblestones as he dodged Follos attack.

At the same time, your blade hissed free. Your sudden fast movement cut Enjin and Rudo off guard as you dashed toward Rudp with fluid precision, but the umbrella from the blonde crashed down between you. Enjin stance solid as bedrock, The shockwave lifted dust and stone into the air. The blade vibrated in your hand from the force.

You slid back, creating some space between you and your opponent. Swinging the Katana on your shoulder, as you thought. “Interesting…”

Enjin’s gaze narrowed. “I know Jabber. But who are you?” His tone changed an octave lower. You can’t deny it his voice is attractive, yet your blood boiled in anger.

“Someone not keen on being flattened by that umbrella.”

His frown deepened, but he said nothing.

Jabbers fucked up laugh rang through the. Silent eye battle between you and the blonde. Jabber and Follo were clashing against each other, Follos rather exhausted and out of breath pants were bringing an sadistic smile to your face. Enjin eyes darkened as he motioned with a swift head movement, that Rudo should go and help their Supporter. “But-“ “Just go Rudo. I can deal with her.”

You sighed, how ignorant. Your attention went to Rod in no time as he prepared his Jinki. You reacted quick and in a flash of an blink you were in front of him, the Katana right next to his neck.

Huh

Enjin stood protectively in front of Rudo as he rammed with full power his Umbrella into your stomach. Back filled your vision even if it was just a second, your body flew into the next wall as the air was knocked out of you. Pain. Your body was failing on you, as you puked right into your mask. You definitely broke a few rips and maybe even your back. That attack was not meant to knock someone out.

And you could feel it. His thirst after your blood. You grabbed onto the mask as you pulled it down. Air. You needed air. Your breath was shallow, fuck.

Fuck, Fuck.

In Victory Enjin rested his umbrella on the ground, but still had a firm grip onto it. “I think she’s down for-“ No, His eyes were back onto your vibrating form. A tune was humming in his ear. It was eerie comfortable but had a rusty scratch to it. “What is that?”

Cracking of bones being forced back into place was very silent but still very loud. You groaned as the pain only doubled when your broken hand snapped back into a normal position.

A healing Jinki?

To say that Enjin was shocked was an understatement. The air started to swing and pulsate as he activated his Jinki. His emotionless golden eyes never left you, his grip tightened on the handle when you rose from the ground.

This is not good.

Your throat was burning and you felt so cold. As if you just jumped into an Ice bath with no escape. Your eyes shone in the reflection of his golden ones, and in this moment only you two existed to kill each other,  yet the moment was shattered when someone grabbed your ankle. “Enough, he wants you back.” Your rage disappeared and was replaced with annoyance.

Cthoni was here to bring you back to Zodyl. Without saying anything you got sucked into the street drain. Leaving Enjin to cancel his attack.

“The next time you’ll not escape.”
