Chapter Text

Sunoo got off of the last train with a smile on his face and a bag of Siwan’s favorite takeout in his hand. This wasn’t the happiest he had ever been, but he had been working day in and day out to finally get this promotion.

He spent all month crunching numbers and pacing back and forth in his cubicle before finally getting the recognition he deserved. Before he left, his boss called him into her office to reward him with an upgraded position that came with a delicious bonus.

He was in the best of moods and was prepared to gush all about it to his beloved.

With his coat in one arm and food in the other, Sunoo unlocked the door to see Siwan and his best friend, Sunghoon gaming on the couch. Sunoo’s smile dropped a bit when he realized they weren’t alone this evening.

His good news could wait, he guessed.

Sunoo didn’t mind Sunghoon because he was polite and they didn’t talk much anyway, but he wished he had the place for him and Siwan to celebrate his bonus together at least.

Sunghoon had been close friends with Siwan for a long time. They were roommates and ended up graduating together. It was a bond Sunoo secretly wished he could separate, but it never happened.

They would all hang out in a group and Siwan, Sunghoon and him would always be the three left to leave or left alone. It was never his boyfriend and him. The other man was always around.

Sunoo understood being attached to your best friends, but even he knew when to give Jungwon and Jay their space.

“Hey guys, I brought home some food.” He greeted them while raising the bag and placing it on the kitchen counter. Siwan barely spared him a glance before going out on the balcony to take a call. The man looked irritated about something, but Sunoo didn’t know what.

Hopefully, his favorite takeout would cheer him up.

Sunghoon turned away from his COD match to greet him with a smile. The man was dressed in a black fitted t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants. Sunoo nodded at him and went to wash his hands.

At least someone appreciated his presence.

Siwan’s voice could be heard from inside and it was starting to worry him. He could barely hear him over the shooting coming from the game, but it was obvious he was yelling. Thankfully, Siwan had gone outside. It stressed Sunoo the fuck out to be around Siwan when he was in one of his moods.

From their past fights, Sunoo found the man’s emotions to be unpredictably heavy to deal with.

In the meantime, he distracted himself by unpacking the food and making a plate. He loaded Siwan’s with his favorites and even made sure the food didn’t touch. His boyfriend had his quirks and it was one of the reasons why he loved him dearly.

“Smells good, is that Chinese?” Sungoon was already in the kitchen, grabbing himself a plate.

The man could always eat. It made Sunoo’s eyes roll. It was rare to ever catch Sunghoon in his own apartment and Sunoo blamed it on him simply missing his college roomie.

“Yes, Siwan loves their orange chicken so save some for him, please.” Sunoo answered before carrying the plate for his boyfriend outside.

The man wasn’t pacing anymore, but he still looked pissed off. His head was in his hands as he sucked down a beer and paired it with a cigarette.

Sunoo slid open the door and headed outside to entice Siwan with a steaming plate of takeout. The noise must’ve caught the other man off guard as he looked up at Sunoo with a tense expression.

“Hey babe, I brought home some takeout. It’s your favorite!” He wanted to surprise him, but in the blink of an eye, the man stood up. His height made Sunoo shrink into himself as he suddenly flipped the plate out of his hands. The dish shattered onto the pavement sending scalding shrimp fried rice onto Sunoo’s face and hair.

If it weren’t for the shock, the entire neighborhood would’ve heard Sunoo’s cry, but he was silent. His lips parted but nothing dared to leave.

He was struck, frozen in place when he felt a sharp sting come across his cheek. It left a tingling feeling behind and felt as if the whole world had put itself on pause.

“What the fuck?” The voice didn’t come from his boyfriend.

He barely heard the voice at all. He couldn’t see Siwan anymore because Sunghoon’s body came into view. He leant down a bit to lock eyes with Sunoo.

“Sunoo-yah—Hey, look at me. Are you alright?” Unfamiliar hands grabbed onto his shoulders as he trembled in place.

His entire body was on alert, yet he couldn’t speak. Sunghoon lifted his chin up and checked for any injuries. He almost pushed the other man away. He wanted to beg Siwan to tell him what was wrong, but he was terrified and his face was still stinging.

Siwan had gotten angry before, but he never took it out on Sunoo physically. This was new and painful in more ways than Sunoo realized. It was the worst thing he had ever experienced.

“Hey, breathe for me. There—That’s it.” Sunoo didn’t even notice that he was in his bedroom until he sat at the edge of the bed.

A knock at the door startled him back into reality as he felt his heart skip in his chest. Sunghoon swore to himself before he got up.

“Let me talk to him, Hoon.” Sunoo could hear his boyfriend’s tired voice. He wanted to get up, but his body was still in shock. He focused on Sunghoon’s words and tried to breathe.

“No, not until you calm the fuck down.” He couldn’t see Sunghoon’s face, but he could tell Siwan was afraid and backed away from the door. The taller man shut it and returned to sit beside Sunoo. His hand rubbed calming circles to help regulate his breathing.

It was such a rare moment for Sunoo to be glad that Sunghoon was in their apartment. His breathing finally slowed and his tears eventually stopped.

“Sunoo?” He waited until the smaller man faced him with a dazed look.

“I don’t think you should stay here tonight. Is there anyone you can visit?”

Sunoo thought about his sister who was busy living on the other side of the world with her husband and two kids. His parents were traveling as they always did during this time of year. Inconveniencing his close friends made him cringe. He immediately began to search up motels outside of the area.

“That shithole? No way, you’re coming to my place.” A lump formed in his throat every time he opened his mouth. His eyes began to well.

“I can’t stay with you, Sunghoon. It’ll be weird.” He choked out with a stuttered gasp.

“I don’t really care how weird it is. You want to know what’s weird? Getting Chinese takeout thrown at you. Come on, Sunoo-yah.” With a softness Sunoo never knew, the man took his hand and rubbed his thumb along his own. For a moment, Sunghoon looked more disturbed than he was.

“Just grab what you need and let me know when you’re ready.” The older man watched him with kind eyes as he waited for him to move.

Over the years of knowing his boyfriend, he never got the chance to really get to know Sunghoon. Sunoo was never interested in getting to know his boyfriend’s frat buddies.

The smaller man nodded and began to pack his things into a small suitcase. Sunghoon left the room and Sunoo heard their voices growing louder again. His heart picked up as he packed a bit quicker, afraid that Sunhoon might actually change his mind and leave.

Once he had everything he needed, Sunghoon came back in. He shut the door and quickly leaned his back up against it.

“You fucking asshole!” Siwan pounded.

“Just let me talk to him, Hoon!” The man’s voice broke and it caused something in Sunoo to shatter. He wanted to hear him out, but he was also scared. He was terrified of his own boyfriend.

The taller man ignored him and grabbed Sunoo’s bags.

“Sunoo, look at me.” He waited for Sunoo to glance up at him. Sunghoon gave him his best reassuring smile before he rested a comforting hand along his neck. Sunoo’s eyes closed at the gentle touch.

He wished he could stay there forever.

“Just keep walking, okay? Whatever he says, just follow me.” Sunoo nodded after a moment. Now wasn’t the time to daydream. He had to get out of there.

Sunoo walked through the hall with his suitcase, trying his best not to look at Siwan. Immediately, the man raced up to him with tears in his eyes. It was actually hard to look at.

“Baby, I’m such an idiot.” He tried reaching out as Sunoo flinched closer to Sunghoon.

“You know I didn’t mean to do that. I’d never hurt you, Noo. You know that, right?” He begged, but Sunoo felt the taller man’s hand on his lower back, gently guiding him out the door.

“But you did hurt him. You fucking did, Siwan.” Sunghoon shot out with disdain as he slammed the door behind him.

.

Sunghoon drove in silence as Sunoo tried to think about anything else. The car was a lot quieter at this time of night when no one else was on the roads.

“Whatever pissed him off wasn’t your fault, Sunoo-yah.” His words comforted him, but the smaller man was exhausted and just wanted to be alone.

Soft melodies came from the radio as Sunghoon headed for his own apartment.

The drive gave Sunoo time to think about what he just went through. He winced when he felt the reminder of today’s events on his cheek.

The way Siwan had looked at him was so foreign, it was as if Siwan couldn’t stand to be near him. Tears left his eyes as he turned to watch the passing streetlights.

When they arrived, Sunghoon was already grabbing his bags. Sunoo followed him up the stairs and into the building.

As soon as they entered, Sunghoon guided him over to the couch. Sunoo looked around, quickly admiring the man’s small but posh living space. It was cozy and Sunoo didn’t feel as if he was intruding.

His phone lit up every two seconds with calls and texts from Siwan. The urge to respond was so strong, but what would he say? He couldn’t be bothered.

He kept replaying the moment of his boyfriend looking at him as if he was disgusting.

Where did that even come from and why had it been directed towards him?

Thinking about it made Sunoo’s eyes water all over again. Sunghoon walked over to check on him. He scowled at the phone and reached for it.

“Please, don’t call him.” Sunoo pleaded. It came out of nowhere. Sunoo didn’t understand why he didn’t want Sunghoon to answer his friend’s call. Maybe he was afraid Sunghoon would drive him back home.

“I’ve got nothing to say to that prick. I’m holding onto it so you don’t end up calling him yourself.”

Right. The urge grew stronger after every call and text. He just wanted to know what made him so upset. Sunghoon sat next to him.

“You didn’t do anything wrong.” The man’s presence had never been so comforting until now.

Sunoo didn’t know what to think about Sunghoon when his boyfriend first introduced them. He wasn’t blind. The man was charming and incredibly handsome. For the longest time, Sunoo had assumed Sunghoon was just another one of his boyfriend’s dumb jock friends.

Sunoo rested his own hand atop Sunghoon’s.

“I’m sorry.” The sudden apology made Sunghoon shake his head. He looked over at Sunoo.

“Sorry for what exactly?” He was right, Sunoo had no answers to give. Even he didn’t know what he was saying sorry for.

“Siwan hit you. There’s nothing to apologize for.” Sunoo left it at that and began to remove his coat while the other man disappeared into the kitchen. He returned with a mug of hot tea and passed it over to Sunoo.

“You can take my bed tonight. I’ve passed out on the couch too many times already.” The man tried to lighten the mood with a chuckle.

“Sunghoon, I can’t—” The older man clicked his tongue and ruffled Sunoo’s hair.

“Please, let me do this for you, okay?” Sunoo rolled his eyes when Sunghoon gave him a look he couldn’t refuse. He had no more fight left in him anyway. The exhaustion was quickly taking over his body when he saw the man’s plush king sized bed.

The older man lingered by his door as Sunoo got ready to take a shower, wanting to wash the events of today down the drain.

Sunoo removed his shirt and the sight of his bare shoulders caused Sunghoon’s mouth to go dry.

“I’ll leave you to it. Let me know if you need anything.” He dipped out quickly to find something to distract himself with as Sunoo slipped into the bathroom.

When he was finished, Sunoo walked out with only his towel on. Sunghoon caught sight of his feet adorned in the man’s large slippers. Still a bit wet from the shower, Sunoo’s skin glistened in the dim lighting. He looked angelic.

“Hm?” Sunoo was speaking to him but cocked his head to the side as he waited for a response.

“Is it alright if I stay for a couple of days? I’ll be staying with my parents after all of this.”

“Of course, get some sleep, Sunoo-yah.” He averted his eyes back to the book he was reading, although he couldn’t even remember what he had just read.

Sunoo didn’t know the first thing about dealing with a situation like this, but for now he just wanted to rest. He let himself cry until he fell asleep. That night, Sunoo dreamt of angry words and heated glares.

Sunghoon lay awake in the other room. He eventually was able to close his eyes once he couldn’t hear the soft sniffles echoing through the hallway.

.

Sunoo ignored the calls from his close friends until he was ready to update them. His family was sickened at the retelling of the evening and was ready to sue Siwan for all he had.

He spent his days recuperating at his own pace while responding to Sunghoon’s texts. They had been texting back and forth a lot more than he had anticipated. He chalked it up as Sunghoon just being worried for him.

As time passed, Sunoo was able to move back into his apartment. He had kicked Siwan out while shoving a restraining order into his chest. It still crushed him to leave his lover of three years, but it was for the best.

Sunghoon had reached out to him a couple of times before Sunoo decided to visit him again. His wounds were still healing, but he missed the smell of cedar and sea salt. After everything, he wanted to catch up like they were old friends.

Sunoo knocked at the door and waited until it opened. Sunghoon stood there looking like he had just woken up from a good dream. The smaller man relaxed at the dazed smile on his face.

“Hey you, come in.” He opened the door wider and pulled Sunoo into a hug when he stepped in. The man’s arms made Sunoo feel safe. Today he smelled of coffee and comfort.

“I brought you something as a thank you, I’m not a baker by any means, but—” Sunghoon took the little box from his hands. Sunoo barely noticed their fingers brushing when Sunghoon’s face lit up.

“Tiramisu?” He grew worried at the other man’s expression. He nodded, hoping he didn’t fuck up already.

“I made it last night after work. Siwan mentioned something about you having a secret sweet tooth.”

The older man held onto the box, but he was too busy looking at the man in front of him. His gaze was unfamiliar and it made something tingle inside of Sunoo.

“You’re an angel, you know that right?” Sunoo blushed and watched with baited breath as the man opened the box to dip a finger through the icing. He stuck his finger into his mouth and made a noise too explicit to replicate in public.

“Is it good?” He asked.

Sunghoon dramatically fell against the counter with a low hum.

“You haven’t tried it? Here.” He dipped his finger back in and offered it to Sunoo’s lips.

Time seemed to slow as Sunoo licked the sweet icing from Sunghoon’s finger. Sunghoon’s gaze was a bit darker when he looked up. He quickly looked elsewhere and nodded.

Sunoo followed the older man over to his couch, watching his broad back muscles under his shirt. They talked over tea and a hearty plate of food Sunghoon set in front of him. He wasn’t there to eat, but he couldn’t help himself when the food smelled so good.

“So, I heard he moved out. Haven’t really spoken to him since that night.” He spoke after clearing his plate.

“After what happened, I went to stay at my parents’. They helped me find a lawyer who was willing to take my case.” Sunoo set his tea to the side.

“Good. It’s what he deserves for treating you like that. I wish I could’ve done more.” The man wringed his hands together, looking a bit annoyed.

“You did. If it weren’t for you, I probably would’ve stayed.”

Sunghoon took their plates into the kitchen as he spoke.

“So, no offense but why are you here?” Sunoo grew nervous because the last thing he wanted to be was a nuisance.

“I just wanted to thank you, properly. It must’ve been hard to see all of that.” He waved his hand in the air as if that night was a small occurrence.

Sunghoon was quiet as he washed their dishes.

“Why don’t we watch something, yeah? I don’t want you to think about any of that while you’re here, okay?” Sunghoon came back over to place the cake in front of him as he sat down on the couch.

“Unless you have other plans.” He seemed to be hinting at something, as if Sunoo could fathom going on any dates for now.

“I’m all yours for tonight.” As soon as the words left his mouth he wanted to take them back. He cringed at himself, fearing he was sounding too needy.

“Perfect.” The man shifted closer beside him and Sunoo relaxed when he passed him a fork. He chose a drama that Sunoo had seen before and the two dug into the tiramisu together.

.

As the third episode came to an end, Sunoo yawned as Sunghoon got up to rinse off their shared plate. He didn’t want to overstay his welcome when he looked at the time.

“It’s getting late. I should be getting back home.” He began searching for his coat.

“Why don’t you just stay over? You shouldn’t be driving when you’re tired anyway.” Sunoo looked back at the taller man who stared at him with hopeful eyes.

“It wasn’t my intention to sleepover. I just wanted to come by and say thank you.”

“I made you stay and watch this show with me. If I didn’t want you here, you’d know.” Those words made him feel something he couldn’t understand. Sunghoon wanted him to be here. He didn’t know how to feel about that.

“Alright, but I’m taking the couch this time.” He offered and the man scoffed while shaking his head.

“Not a chance. My bed is big enough for the both of us, Sunoo-yah.”

With a gentle hand across his back, Sunghoon guided him into the bedroom with a tired grin.

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Like what?” Sunghoon’s smile widened a bit as he changed into something more comfortable to sleep in. He tossed an old oversized band tee in Sunoo’s direction.

“You’re all starry eyed!” A cackle bubbled out of Sunghoon as he removed his shirt, tossing it into the hamper. Sunoo went quiet and averted his eyes as he changed into a pair of sweatpants.

The man’s room hadn’t changed much. He had a new plant that was already beginning to wilt by the window. A shelf by his closet had photos of him and his family alongside trophies he won back when he did figure skating and moved on to hockey. A framed jersey hung on the wall with other paintings he must’ve bought from a flea market.

A couple of barbells were set up in the corner and it made Sunoo think of Sunghoon’s arms. The man knew how to stay in shape that was for sure.

When he turned back, Sunghoon was closer. The lack of light in the room casted shadows between his chest and arms.

“You brought me a whole cake, how could I not look at you?” Sunoo slightly jumped when arms slid around his waist. He hadn’t felt this safe in a while and as he stood in front of the taller man, he felt himself being slowly enticed to the feeling.

“Your cheek healed.” Sunghoon caressed where the bruise used to be. The moment felt weighted between them with something Sunoo couldn’t put into words.

“It went away after a couple of weeks.” His voice was softer when he spoke.

“That’s good. I’m glad.” Sunghoon leant down to gently graze his nose against his jaw. They stood in each other’s orbit until he felt the man’s lips touch his neck.

“I hope you don’t think this is weird.” He whispered along Sunoo’s warm skin.

“Do you trust me?” Sunoo felt himself nod before Sunghoon let their lips touch. It was slow and careful as if he didn’t want to break the younger man. As if he was something sacred.

Hands trailed down his body and reached the ends of his shirt. He let him slip it off of him in one smooth motion before backing him into the mattress.

Their kisses grew heated within the next second. Sunoo’s breath quickened at the touch of his fingers dancing lightly across his skin.

“You have no clue what you’re doing to me, do you?” His voice was quieter as his lips roamed across the smaller man’s neck and down his shoulder.

“I can’t believe that idiot had you this whole time.” Sunghoon growled in his ear. The desire between them felt new and unabashedly raw. It was fresh, as if Sunoo had been caged for months.

“I bet he never even ate you out.” His words were filthier than his actions, and Sunoo loved it. He basked in it.

“He did, he just—” Sunoo tried to speak but Sunghoon’s lips touched parts of his body that made him gasp. The man let his kisses trail down Sunoo’s neck.

“He just didn’t enjoy it.” Another kiss on his chest.

“He thought it was disgusting.” Another on his torso until his lips were eventually at his navel. Sunghoon looked up at him with longing as he licked along Sunoo’s tiny pouch.

“There isn’t anything disgusting about you, Sunoo-yah.” He covered Sunoo’s body with more fervent kisses until Sunoo was left puffing quick breaths of air.

The man’s kisses traveled even lower until Sunoo’s pants slid past his hips. He was addicted to leaving little marks as he sucked at his skin, pulling soft moans from the younger man that left him dizzy.

He felt the man lift his hips up as he lowered his head to lick at Sunoo’s hole. The smaller man shivered when he realized he was about to be devoured. Sunghoon’s touch felt too holy to be a curse, but too filthy to be considered a blessing.

His mind raced until the other man’s tongue slipped into him.

“I love seeing you like this.” He licked a stripe between the man’s ass and dipped inside to taste the younger man. His words tickled Sunoo’s tight skin as he continued to lick languidly.

It felt like it was his first time, but better. Like this was how it should’ve felt. Like this was what he had been missing for those three years.

He whimpered when Sunghoon licked beneath his cock. It leaked when a practiced finger entered inside him.

“You’ve always deserved this. You deserve to see yourself the way I see you, Sunoo-yah.” He groaned as he continued to pull pleasure out of the younger man.

“What?” Sunoo moaned pathetically before letting the man slide into bed behind him. Sunghoon pulled Sunoo close until his back was against his chest.

“Look up.” He spoke into his ear with intent. Sunoo followed his instruction, lifting his gaze to see the two of them facing his mirror. Their bodies melded together in a sight that he’d never forget.

He watched as Sunghoon wrapped a hand around his neck, gripping him closer. Sunoo swallowed as he watched the other man reach between his legs to grip his now dripping cock.

Sunoo’s eyes glazed over when the man bit along his jaw and neck. Sunghoon slowly pumped him, letting his hand circle the tip with his thumb. He squeezed.

“Ah! Sunghoon-hyung—” He cried.

“Look at you, all wet and pretty for me.” His hand released his cock before gently cupping the man’s balls. A finger dipped back into Sunoo’s ass and soon he added another.

Sunghoon stretched him out slowly as his fingers continued to massage Sunoo’s messy hole. Little moans and sighs came out of the smaller man, matching each little thrust. Sunghoon gripped his neck a little tighter. He felt the man quiver in his arms.

His cock grew underneath and poked into Sunoo as he squirmed from the teasing.

Suddenly, his back was against the mattress and he watched the taller man kneel over him with a gaze that left him intoxicated. He lay there as he tried to catch his breath. Sunghoon admired his body, letting his eyes linger from his lips and down his chest.

He closed his lips over Sunoo, capturing him in a heated kiss. His tongue parted Sunoo’s lips when he tried to take a breath. Sunghoon groaned at the taste of Sunoo on his tongue. Their kisses grew sloppier as his cock rubbed messily against his.

He thrusted a little, needing more friction between them. Sunoo winced once he felt the man guide himself deep inside of Sunoo. He yelped at the sudden stretch.

“Is this okay? Should I stop?” Sunoo quickly shook his head as he tried to breathe.

“N-no, you’re just kinda big. It’s been a while.” He whispered while trying to adjust.

“Give me a sec.” The taller man nodded as he hovered over him, pressing wet kisses onto his cheeks and then his lips.

When Sunoo nodded his assent, Sunghoon slowly rocked until his cock was deep inside of him. The smaller man’s breath hitched at the feeling of being so full.

He opened his eyes to see the veins lining Sunghoon’s arms as he thrusted into Sunoo at a tantalizing rhythm. Beads of sweat formed between his brow and dripped onto Sunoo’s neck. His eyes searched the younger man’s lovingly as their bodies writhed together.

Sunoo’s back arched with pleasure as Sunghoon rolled his hips into him, leaving his thighs trembling. Every thrust felt like reaching a higher level of euphoria. Sunoo didn’t even realize he was crying until Sunghoon gently wiped his tears.

Sunghoon began to pick up his pace once Sunoo’s broken moans grew more distressed. He growled at the scratches and scrapes the man left on his shoulders and bent down to ravish his neck with kisses.

“Come for me, Sunoo-yah. Let hyung fill you up.” He groaned into his dampened skin. Sunoo felt his body tense until he spilled onto his belly. Their bodies rocked slowly as Sunghoon released into the smaller man. He planted a soft kiss onto Sunoo’s forehead, his cheek and then his lips.

He let himself stay inside of Sunoo as they kissed lazily.

When he finally pulled out, the two took a moment to breathe together before Sunghoon slipped out of bed to retrieve his own shirt from the floor. He caressed his face as he wiped him clean, letting out a low chuckle when Sunoo’s thighs automatically tensed up again as he was still sensitive.

.

In the morning, Sunoo woke with a dazed smile and a pleasantly sore body. He could hear sounds in the kitchen as he slowly got dressed. His legs were still a bit shaky as he walked out to see Sunghoon’s broad back with the red lines from last night’s activities. He hummed as he washed dishes in the sink.

When their eyes met, they didn’t have much to say. The man’s smile was all he needed before he walked over to hand him a plate of food.

The two sat together with hidden smiles as they ate in a comfortable silence.

“Guess this means I have you all to myself now.” The older man winked, causing Sunoo to roll his eyes as he took a bite of toast.

“I guess it does.”
