Chapter Text
01
There were nights where he needed space, a spot to think. His uniform is scorched, there's a blooming bruise on his face and an ache in his shoulders as his mangled bag hung over his hunched back. He doesn't really put any mind to the weariness in his legs the higher he climbed, just that he needed to get up high. Really high.
It's the best choice he could ever make that night.
The refreshing cool night air blows over his face, he closes the door behind him and shrugs off his yellow backpack. With a heavy sigh, he slumps down to the ground. Today had been especially difficult and he refused to think about it too much or tell anyone. He can't let his Mom see the bruises and burns, not without her bursting into tears again.
For as much as his mother loved and supported his dream, he couldn't say the same about what the rest of the world said. He held firm, as strongly as he could to his beliefs because that's what his Mom would want for him.
He wants to be a hero.
Even if the world collectively said no.
The lamp above his head flickered suddenly, sparks from the bulb has him scrambling to his feet to move out of the way immediately. The flickering spread, infecting every light in the vicinity and going further and further until it was affecting the whole city.
He looks around for a way down, fumbling around his pockets to look for his phone.
The city lights dimmed, the entire region loses power for a full minute but he doesn't pay any heed to the noise and chaos bursting below him. Instead he's focused on the skies, where a brilliant shooting star streaked across the cosmic sea. The radiant light shone beautifully, moving forward and leaving behind trails of stardust.
Where was it going? Where has it been? Why is it here now?
He felt the wonder and exhilaration fill him. His feet carried him closer to the roof's edge, wanderlust clouding his mind the more he fixated on the star. He feels a pull, something beckoning him to look closer and closer.
Then, a gaze sweeps over him.
A hand pushes against his chest, making him fall back against the rooftop. He blinked up quickly in a daze as a new figure stands over the edge he nearly stepped over.
"...Well, that was dangerous."
THEY say.

Two years later...
" Someone applied for multiple courses?"
It's a rare sight, though not unheard of for the staff. Though, they haven't a clue why the principal acquired a meeting for it.
" This candidate has explicitly expressed a desire to attend both classes." Nedzu explained. " While his middle school records are lacking, the request seems rather genuine to say the least."
" What did he sign up for?" Midnight asked. Usually these types of requests involve the support and design department. Sometimes business if the student fancies.
" Heroics and Analysis."
Ah, they could see why the principal was interested now. There hasn't been an applicant for Analysis in years, so for one to voluntarily sign himself up to the hell class the rat-bear-mouse thing personally teaches was hard to ignore.
" Well, the support and business entrance exams are on the same day as the hero course exams. Maybe we could move it up a day?" Snipe suggested.
" That wouldn't be fair to the examinees already preparing for that date." Eraserhead pointed out. " How do we know if this kid is even serious about this?"
" Then, how about this? He will still attend both exams but the Analysis test will be said to take place directly after the Heroics exam. If he is truly serious in taking both classes, then he should be able to find a rational way to score them." The principal moved his tail side to side in anticipation, the sharp grin of his teeth sending a slight chill to his staff. " All in favour?"
None dared to refute.

On the day of the entrance exam, Kaminari Denki meets the two weirdest dudes yet. This guy who's all about being manly called Kirishima and another dude, Midoriya. They were seated together during the briefing and man, Midoriya really likes to ramble.
It's no sweat, some people like to talk. He gets it.
They meet up at the same gate somehow and while most people were wearing some kinda tracksuit. Midoriya was wearing a baseball uniform with a cap.
" Woah, are you a fan too, Midoryia?" He asked the guy.
" Oh, uh, not really! I just- it's new actually. It's so that I can move easily." He says, doing a couple light stretches.
" Well, man. That's why I'm shirtless!" Kirishima grinned.
" You're both weird."
" Bro, you showed up in shorts. You don't get to talk." Kirishima gave him a playful punch on the shoulder.
" Okay, start!"

Eijiro was having a blast. When they announced the start, Midoriya immediately bolted right into the city without even waiting. Mic laughed that he got the right idea. He wasn't sure why Mido-bro was wearing a baseball uniform until bam! The guy pulls out this awesome black bat out of nowhere and scores the first point of the exam before anyone could catch.
Everyone was scrambling to grab points and a single between him and his new bros, they got a competition going immediately. It's not easy considering how many other examinees are around and Mido-bro even decided to ditch near the end.
Then, they heard it. The ground shaking, weapons warming up and a shadow loomed over them as the massive 0 pointer stepped into their view. Everyone was running, there was no point in taking it down but then, he and Kaminari remembered seeing Mido-bro running the opposite way. They turned around immediately.

" Kirishima, get her out of here!"
" You got it, Mido-bro!"
Midoriya handed over the injured girl before turning to Kaminari. " How good is your throw?"
He grabs the nearest pole as Midoriya takes a running start. Denki uses all the strength he had left to throw the pole just like a javelin from his middle school days. The makeshift javelin hit the mark, as high as it could reach on the robot as Midoriya jumped up, swung from the javelin and vaulted himself upwards.
He brandishes his bat like a sword, bright blue energy crackling with sparks all across the weapon. He swings it down with a cry, a golden blaze in his eyes.
" Rules are meant to be broken!"
The impact tore through the robot's head, shredding the metal in one smooth motion. The only issue now, is the fall.
Midoriya can't fly.
