On Bad Luck

Summary:

Envy snickered, low and telling, and Ed saw his clothes transmute away from the corner of his eye. Envy slipped his own index and middle fingers into his mouth and sucked, lips tight, pulling them out with a lewd pop. “I know how to make you talk.” He eased Ed's leg up high, bending him forward, till his metal limb audibly strained. The other hand, wet and sticky, squeezed the soft flesh of his flank and he pushed that aside too, exposing the human’s erection and ‘nads, nosing down his happy trail. “I know how to make you howl.”

One-Shot for White_Assassin's birthday.

Notes:

Happy birthday to my dear friend, White_Assassin! ❤️ White_Assassin is not only a great friend but both an incredible writer and artist! Check out her fics if you haven’t yet, I highly recommend! We were on the topic of our Edvy kinks and this came up–I wanted to write her a gift so after tossing the idea at her, I went with it! It’s a spinoff from About Devotion and Desire, playing on the scene where Envy (in lieu of his thoughts in Chapter Nine), kidnaps, chains up and collars Ed:

He had to admit, the idea of the pipsqueak in chains, kneeling at his feet or on his back, legs spread wide, was not a bad one. Desire and pent up energy rolled right through him, enough to jerk off, temporarily drowning out his muddled thoughts. Reality returned far too fast, filling the room with the hissing and yelping of chimeras in their cages. After the post haze of climaxing, Envy knew it would never work.

I will confirm this will be the only (acted out) form of dubcon/noncon in About Devotion and Desire. That being said, this is officially part of the series since it’s all related. Consider it an AU of an AU? I would say to read the main fic before (if not to at least understand their history and connection) but it's not completely necessary. White_Assassin, thank you always for your support and I hope you enjoy!

Pound my knuckles hard against the floor
My head against the wall
But I did this to myself
Blame it on Bad Luck, Bayside

-x-

In one moment, Ed was facing the unlit alleyway of Poppy and 39th.

In the next, he was smothered and subdued with a rag that smelled chemically sweet. His world slanted, his vision blurring before it all turned black. Ed blinked as a means of adjusting but even so, it stayed black. He was on his back and restrained, wrists pinched by cold, chaffing metal.

On instinct he pulled, though it proved fruitless. He could move his feet and at the very least, was not deaf—he heard the muffling of cloth in his ears and what could only be described as yips and purrs. He had a horrible, horrible feeling that was validated once the bag ripped away.

When it came to Envy, being chained to the mattress in Central Command’s kennels was always something he had considered, at least initially—what with the stalking, the taking of his things, the utter obsession since the very beginning of their coupling. Besides his better judgement, Ed played with the fire that was Envy’s desire, accepting that he would become the sin’s hostage more than anything else. It was an awful example of how Edward Elric’s pride had a habit of getting the best of him—how his complicated relationship with control got the best of him. To think he had the means to rein in someone so unhinged and volatile...

It was Envy’s huge grin, his palpable excitement and the arguable innocence brightening his eyes that Ed never envisioned, in previous scenarios.

“Envy,” he tried, his throat dry, his lips bleeding and chapped from being confined for god knows how long.

The homunculus raised both eyebrows, playful as he leaned in close, hands on either side of the alchemist. “Carbon, hydrogen,” He waved at the air, nonchalant, “Chlorine?”

The fleeting second where Ed realized Envy had the audacity to make an joke related to the periodic elements rendered his expression flat, head shaking before it dawned on him: the day before approaching Poppy and 39th, he warned Envy that he was planning to go north, to leave. Now here he was, chained to his bed.

Ed’s knee reared upward, directly into Envy’s abdomen.

“Oof, okay—!” Envy gasped for air, giving the human distance, breathless with agony as he scooted off the mattress. “Hear me out, shrimp!”

“No.” Tears burned in Ed’s eyes, unsure as to who he hated more: Envy or himself. For being fooled and manipulated. For believing Envy had the rationale to change. For thinking maybe Envy loved him. “No, I don’t want to hear it!” Kicking and squirming, Ed conveyed every searing degree of fiery rage he felt with the timber in his voice, in his hateful leer. “You fucking psychopath!”

“This is the only way!” Envy bit back, though the twinge on his face spoke of internal conflict. “Otherwise, you’re a goner! Don’t you see, haven't you been listening?!” It was clear the other was trying to reason with him. “Father will kill you, he will torture you—!”

Ed would hear none of it. He would take a life time of torture before this, the deception. “You’re a coward, Envy!” Ed hated how the sin’s pathetic, wounded gaze made his heart skip. “A loser, a MONSTER!”

Now that made Envy’s lip twitch with annoyance. “Don’t make me regret this, runt.” Ed scoffed in disbelief, but Envy continued anyway. “I’m trying to save you.”

“You’re selfish,” Ed reminded him, teeth snapping as he pulled at the cuffs on his wrist, cringing from the sound of metal on metal as he wrenched his automail. “You did this for you and ONLY you!”

Long ago in the records room, Envy had said, with pride: "I like to think I’m entitled, and when I want something, I get it.”

At first Envy said nothing, mouth twisting, torment rolling off him in waves. After a moment of deliberation, Envy smiled, tight and without teeth, foreboding. “And what if I did?” Circling to the edge of the bed, Envy squeezed the frame of its foot-board, leaving grooves. Under his immense strength, the metal resembled aluminum foil more so than steel. “I don’t think you get it, runt, you’re mine.” His fangs glinted under the lights as he cocked his head sideways. “I can do whatever I please with you.”

Ed’s voice dripped with poison as he objected, “Al will find me—!”

“Below here? Doubtful.” Envy’s tone was amused, if not mocking. “Here, safe with me, will be the last place he looks. He doesn’t know about us.” Gone was any sense of playfulness, replaced with resentment. “You made sure as much.”

“And I’m glad I did,” Ed rebuked, smirking despite the worry bubbling in his gut. “You didn’t earn that, nor will you ever.” No longer did Ed feel sorry, justified over the gloom brewing in Envy’s stare. “There is no us.

After a beat of silence, Envy chuckled, full of ridicule. “HA! You think you’re getting rid of me that easily?! You humans are so naive.” When Envy reared forward, Ed tried his best to pull away, but the sin grabbed him by face, hardly gentle. “You’re stuck with me, pipsqueak.” Eyes locked, he smiled in a way that Ed had long forgotten. Cruel and mean, a far cry from the yearning looks he would offer him while intimate. “Whether you like it or not.”

When Ed physically spat at him in response, straight in the eye, Envy pushed him against the headboard, hard enough for his chains to rattle, for his skull to pound from whiplash.

“You will learn your place, Edward,” Envy purred as he wiped away spittle. “I expect you to be a good boy.

The pet name still conjured up a wave of warmth in Ed’s stomach, want and revulsion warring with one another. He simply glared in response, far too angry to speak. He did not like the telling twitch between his legs, no doubt a lingering side-effect from their sexual escapades.

'Never again,’ Ed swore to himself, yet he knew that Envy, who licked himself clean of his saliva, would make it none too easy.

-x-

Ed did not speak for the next two days.

It did not matter how much Envy teased or badgered. “Usually so mouthy,” the homunculus snorted, leaving out another plate of food which went ignored, just like all the rest. Ed’s empty stomach growled, in need of sustenance, always hungry as it was. He had not eaten for just as long. Without his hands, it was impossible to feed himself, so when Envy offered the fork, he simply frowned. Still, he said nothing.

C’mon runt,” Envy sighed, like the whole I’m-an-absolute-lunatic-kidnapper sentiment didn’t phase him. With the time he spent with Ed during every waking moment he was not off working for Father—exempli gratia, stalking him—it was clear he saw nothing wrong with their arrangement. “Kind of defeats the purpose of me saving you if you starve on me.

Ed remained mute, schooling his features. He would offer no response to Envy, but by now, he learned better than to act out too viciously. The first time Envy released the blond to relieve himself, Ed had charged forward, managing to get a solid punch across the jaw. Laughing all the while, Envy tackled him to the mattress and pressed in between his legs, enough for his pelvis to ache. Ed’s cheeks flared red, body involuntarily arching.

“If you wanted to get a little frisky, pipsqueak, all you had to do was ask.” Envy forced his mouth on him until Ed bit his lip, drawing sparks of injury. Envy punched him back this time for his indiscretion, square in the face, the sound of which echoed throughout the room. Ed considered it a warning, the powerful homunculus capable of far greater brutality. Worse off, Ed was hard with his bladder uncomfortably full—no doubt excited from their fist fighting. Envy tied him back to the bed, visually hurt from his refusal and muttering how “fucking ungrateful you are.” Ed laid there, uncomfortable, nose bleeding and half-mast until Envy forgave him enough to try again.

“You act like an animal,” Envy buckled a collar around his neck, tightening it well and good, not without a firm yank. “You act like a bitch, you’ll get treated like one, too!”

For the remainder of the day, even humiliated and bruised, Ed did not make a peep.

You will eat for me.” Envy’s good will was replaced with something far more sinister, his patience thinning. “Or I’ll gut your little girlfriend.” His grin conveyed every ounce of his malice. “She’s still in town, looking for you.

Ed took a bite of bland stew, scowling with every spoonful.

Envy talked about her, sometimes for hours. He blamed her, of course, for the situation they were in.

She just had to walk in, just had to come see you,” He would stutter under his breath, pained and upset, filling the chimera dishes with what Ed suspected as the same slop fed to him. “I was too lenient on you, pipsqueak, letting her get so close. That dumb, ugly—” Ed would tune out the insults, instead focusing on the little means that made up Envy’s room. With broken furniture and crushed up animal cages, it looked as if it had seen better days. Envy seemed to blame its sorry state on Winry walking in on them, too.

There was not much to what made up Envy’s belongings. There was a bed, and the stolen articles of Ed’s clothing (‘Stupid,’ Ed thought to himself, ‘fucking stupid,’ to entertain such behavior.) He would show him his drawings, the hundreds of them, all of which depicted Ed. Envy would sketch him for hours on a single spiral notebook, needing little for a medium, seeming to create poses from memory. Some were pornographic, some were not, but all of them done rather skillfully. Ed needed no more convincing that Envy's maniacal observation of him was fucking delusional.

Despite being known for his habit of talking back, Ed stayed quiet. The first weeks after he had transmuted Al’s soul to armor, Ed sat silent in his wheelchair, still and unmoving. He did much the same now, a glower permanently transfixed to his face. He hardly looked at Envy, offering not even a grunt in his direction. He made no noise apart from the clink of his manacles, which rubbed painfully into his skin and automail equally.

It was hard to look at Envy, hard to face the truth, to stare down another bad choice of his own doing. During the rare evenings he was left alone, he had plenty of time to lament over his shitty makings of what he thought could actually be romance, to be love. Sounded ludicrous now, as he wallowed in anger and misery.

Of course, Envy did not take too kindly to Ed neglecting him.

Being rude and temperamental on good days, Envy’s mental stability dwindled the longer Ed ignored him.

On the third day, Envy sat back on his knees at the bedside, clawing and pleading from his place on the ground, "Please, runt." Envy did not offer formalities often, and never before cried. Moisture dotted along the sin' eyes, snagging on the bridge of his nose, on the pout of his lips as he pulled on the edges of Ed's coat. "Please understand and look at me, I hate when you don't look at me!"

Ed felt terrible, cruel himself, stare locked forward and burning oddly wet. Still, as Envy sobbed into the night, he said nothing, his vow of silence proving effective.

It was the fourth day that reduced Envy to a complete, emotional disaster. Ed woke up to the sin blowing through the room like a hurricane. A chair, already in disrepair, smashed against the wall. Cages were kicked and dented from various blows, plates were thrown and smashed. Not even a yelp left the chimeras, who sat silent in their hutch—like they knew better.

It was clear Ed's reluctance was wearing on him—Ed told himself it was guilt manifesting, in the homuculus' own ugly way. “Look at me!” Envy grit between his gnashing teeth, pulling on Ed’s chains, till steel and bone ached. Envy ripped off all of Ed’s clothing out of some perverted spite, saying “there’s no need, you’re mine!” Ed flushed and averted his gaze, but again, said not a word, even when left completely naked. “I said look at me, Ed! Stop IGNORING ME!” Envy snatched at Ed’s hair, torn free of his braid hours ago, and pulled a chunk straight from out the root. Much like yesterday, the sin’s lip trembled, yet still, Ed never complied, biting back a yowl.

“Runt, please!” Envy sounded next to crying as he nuzzled at the bite on his throat, once again sad and destitute. Ed hated the stir in his chest, how it throbbed. It was not the only stirring Ed felt, unfortunately. There was a tightness pulling below his navel. Ed hated that he still wanted Envy—just as virile, just as desirous as the moments prior to Envy locking him away.

And with him left stripped and chained to his bed, Envy took notice.

“Oh, pipsqueak," Breathing back tears, suddenly Envy did not sound so broken-hearted. "What do we have here?" Envy purred as he crouched low and licked up Ed’s thigh, all the way to the crease of his groin. "You can’t fool me." During their battle of wits, this had been a first, Envy using his willies. Ed actually expected this sooner, surprised that the sin had controlled himself for so long. For the first time since the blond had fallen quiet, he nearly cracked, forcing down a mewl. “Think of how much fun we can have, all day, every day.” These were the exact fantasies Ed had hoped to live out with the homunculus at his side. Now, such ideas simultaneously made his guts and toes curl, for entirely different reasons.

“I know how to make you howl.

Suddenly, Ed was stilled by the ankles. With ease, two more arms spawned out from Envy’s ribcage in a show of red lightening, keeping his captive well secured. It was not the first time Envy and Ed played with the shapeshifters abilities. Every piece of him, with the exception of his loins, wanted to crawl further and further away but it was useless—Envy, even when his fighting was at its worst, was considerably stronger.

He almost broke—almost—when Envy tongued the first few inches of his cock. Ed’s canines dug into his bottom lip as he inhaled. He did not need to glance down to see Envy, impossible and insolent, grinning around his length as he sucked in more, feeling it well enough. One of the sin’s many, endless hands reached under the pillow while the remainder held him in place. Ed’s eyes rolled back, legs separating, knowing what was coming next. His mind felt hazy as he heard the snap of a metal tin.

There was no warning when two digits breached him, paired with Envy downing him whole. Ed humped off the mattress, wishing the stuffing of his own hips would stop the other’s giggling but even choked up, the sin continued. Ed trembled when Envy dragged the pads of his fingers against his prostate, taunting but pleasant. Finally the blond sobbed, offering no more than a single sound, pitiful and desperate despite his best efforts.

Envy pulled off his length, staring hot enough to blister, mouth teasing against the tip. “Not good enough, runt.” Envy resembled a cobra charming its next meal, with looping, colorful rings in his eyes. He wished the sight of Envy naked and kneeling before him with a smile pressed against his dick revolted him. Envy, who was tantalizingly both beautiful and wicked. With purpureus eyes and pouty lips that spoke sweet nothings and searing insults, that sucked the life out of him from every end. The view of the sin's well sculpted back and ass was enough to make Ed pant for breath. It was his want for Envy that landed him here in the homunculus’ bed, in this mess, after all. Heat rolled throughout his abdomen, settling high in his throat, making him involuntarily buck up when his lover whispered, “I want you to say it.”

Ed knew what he wanted to hear. Envy asked him to say it, over and over again almost every time they fucked. Just one word, consisting of four letters. Red face and huffing, even if a pathetic part of him still felt it was true, Ed refused. When he merely turned his head away, glaring at the row of chimeras in their cages, Envy sighed, continuing the unrelenting press within.

Envy hid none of his frustration as he chastised, “Why you always need to make this difficult, pipsqueak,” He pulled out his fingers to take him by the knees and Ed knew what was happening next. Envy reached over with a duplicated arm, followed by a subtle twitch and the squelch of lube. “I will never know.” He did not ask when he guided himself inside Ed, sinking halfway in with a trill. As soon as Envy pulled out and fucked in a second time, punching harder, just the way Ed liked it, the human's muscles relaxed instinctively, filling with ease. Ed threw his head back with a clipped warble, hating how the shameful tears stung.

“Your body does all the talking.” Envy's laughter hitched with pleasure as he slipped two fingers, still oily and hot from Ed’s insides, under his leather collar and tugged. “Look at me.” Envy used his heft to apply pressure upwards into his nerves, just shy of hurting but for certain pleasant, enough for Ed to swallow back a moan. “Look at me, Edward.” He gyrated his hips in a way that felt familiar, no different from when they would be affectionate with one another, no different than when Ed begged for it. His stomach rolled with longing at every edge inside.

Still, Ed said not a thing, biting his lip till blood bubbled through the slits of his teeth.

It was becoming harder. Two hands pressed feather soft against his wrists, and two thumbed carefully against the flesh of his inner thighs. Envy lapped across his nipples, which hardened instantly under his ministrations. Every synapses felt aflame, the bed rocking and squeaking with every thrust. Envy took advantage when Ed tossed his head back, teeth reclaiming the scar on his throat. At last, Ed moaned, grating and hungry despite every best effort.

“We really need to get weird more often,” Envy whispered against his ear before nibbling there, too. “We should have done this days ago.” Of course, Envy seemed to regret not weaseling in sooner. “Say it, Edward,” he goaded, conceited as ever, licking at the corner of his prisoner's mouth. “I know you want to.”

No, I don’t,’ the alchemist swore to himself, but there was a dark crooning in his consciousness.‘Yes, you do, Edward. Don’t forget,’ As if the voice in his head was the sin himself, those deft fingers were sliding down the plane of his body, caressing the head of his cock. ‘You’re only human.

It was true, he did want it but still, Ed said nothing.

Envy huffed through his nose, hot-blooded like a bull. “Fine, brat.” He grabbed Ed from behind the balls and squeezed, successfully curtailing the pipsqueak's approaching orgasm. “Have it your way.”

Ed wailed and bucked, impaling himself on the length within him, vision doubling. “ENVY!” His voice cracked from little use, airy. Suspended now for days, the sockets of his arms were tender and yet they lurched, excruciating. He felt the implicit memory to reach for Envy’s nodes, to provoke him, to give him the release he needed.

“Close,” Envy hummed at his own play on words, chest heaving from the exertion of his speeding hips. “But—! Not close enough!”

As Envy pummeled the human into the mattress, hitting his prostate with every lunge, Ed’s mind went white hot and fuzzy. The unbearable pressure between his legs ripped through and tethered him to the bed all at once. As always, Envy’s incredible weight felt crushing on top of him, undeniable and unavoidable. Ed had one last thought—a realization of what he knew to be true: yes, he was only human. This all started because of that—the human need for pleasure, of escape, of wanting something in his life that was his and his alone.

Ed’s human needs were always getting him into trouble and of course, he was paying for it. He was a fool to think he could escape the consequences of his actions. He had done it with human transmutation, and he was doing it now, all thanks to his love for the malevolent sin. There was no need for Ed to fool himself any longer.

“Envy.” Ed could hardly recognize the voice that left him, hoarse and weak. “Envy, please,” Tears cascaded down his cheeks and pooled on his chin. Weak, so fucking weak, his body and his emotions always did betray him. “I’m yours, I’m fucking—!” Ed voice fell quiet again, eyes lolling in their socket, unsure to push or pull at the hand around his balls, against the pleasant stab deep inside him.

Envy brayed, blinking away the beads of perspiration dripping in his eyes. He too was at his limit, trying to hold back his finish. “Good boy!

Envy released the punishing hold on Ed's cock, twisting inside and fisting him just right. Ed blew hard enough for jizz to hit his chin, gasping in relief. Envy, meanwhile, sighed with satisfaction, spending his load inside the human, sagging between his legs. All four arms remained in place, still restraining, still petting, still jerking. “Finally, shrimp, was that so hard?!”

Again, Ed said nothing, biting back his snark, merely glaring past his sweaty bangs. Maybe he kept quiet because Envy was right about him eventually giving up in the end, bitter.

Maybe, because he knew it would piss the sin off, and that in itself got Ed off, even just a little bit.

“Still haven’t learned, hm?” Envy smirk was toothy as he took the end of Ed’s choker and tightened it, till the human could only wheeze. “Oh, pipsqueak, you never learn.” Envy, still seated inside him, started up his hips again with agonizing precision and used the leverage on the collar to pull him into a kiss, sinfully sweet. “That’s just what I love about you.

Wanting to strangle and pet his lover in equal parts, Ed ruefully pulled at his chains in an attempt to reach for the other, but with no such luck. Aching over the weakness he felt over those words, his heart drummed in his chest when he kissed Envy back, all tongue, body arching into every, diligent rut. True to his captor’s sentiments, he was stuck. It was going to be a long, long night—a long few weeks, months—in the kennels.

Notes:

Gaaaah, I’m way too much of a softie to write dub/noncon for ADaD so I hope this satisfies this craving! At least even in the softest stuff, Ed will always like painal 😈 Confirming that in the end, Envy lets Ed go so he can go up North with Al, that the story follows ADaD’s progression from there.
Most of all, I hope you liked it, White_Assassin! :) Happy Birthday!!! ❤️ Thank you for being a great friend!
