Chapter Text
It's late at night, around two in the morning. Basil is having a sleepover at Susie’s house, like usual. The couple usually spent more time at Susie’s, as they had the house to themselves.
Susie is playing on her switch and shoving fistfuls of potato chips into her mouth,as she sat on her bed. “Hey dumbass!” she calls out. “You shitting or what? Why are you in the bathroom still?” Susie laughs, with that same lovely, deep laugh she always has.
But it was cut off almost immediately by the sound of a thud. Susie jumps off the bed, her switch thudding to the ground and chips flying all over the sheets. She quickly went to the bathroom, opening it,and saw Basil sitting up against the bathtub, violently thrashing.
“Shit! Basil” Susie rushes over to the canine monster, grabbing his shoulders, trying to sit him up. “Hey, hey! Look at me! Stay conscious.”
Basil was disabled. You couldn’t tell by just looking at him though. He looked perfectly fine despite being almost always in a wheelchair. But in reality, he wasn’t. He is in almost always constant pain, can barely walk, and has pretty frequent seizures.
“T..tried calling you. C—ouldn’t talk loud enough,” Basil mumbles out as his head jerks, hitting against the bathtub. Susie grabs him and lays him down on the floor with a bath mat under his head.
“Shut up, don’t talk. You know it makes it worse,” Susie sternly replied, holding Basil’s right paw tightly, rubbing circles on his shaking hand with her own.
As the thrashing continues, the waterworks start up. The dog monster is sobbing in pain, snot dripping from his nose as he struggles to breath through it. Susie moves behind him to pull his head up into her lap. She wipes the snot away from Basil’s nose with her jacket sleeve.
Susie is holding Basil in her lap like a porcelain doll, breakable at any moment. She took his glasses off to make sure they wouldn’t get broke, or hurt him. She strokes his hair, holding his hand, and trying her best to stay composed for his sake.
“Fuck, gotta time it,” Susie fumbles in her pocket to grab out her phone and hit the start button on the timer.
She resumed stroking Basil’s hair and making sure his neck wasn’t jerking too much. “I got you, B. I’m not going anywhere.”
Basil tried to talk, but he really couldn’t. It was just jumbles of gibberish and whines of weakness and distress. The dog then has a particularly hard jerk where he lets out a whimper of pain.
“Hey, hey, calm down. Wait, that’s fuckin’ dumb to say—“ Susie cut herself off as she looks at Basil’s lower half. As he was seizing, he had soiled himself.
This isn’t uncommon for seizures, but for Basil, this had never happened before. He seems to notice what happened, when Susie did, because the boy started to let out sobs of embarrassment, spouting nonsensical apologies and insults targeted to himself.
“Hey, shut it. Don’t talk like that. This means nothing. You’re ok, all that matters right now.”
After twenty more minutes of whines and comforts, the seizing starts to finally stop. Reduced to small trembles in the most distal part of the limbs.
Basil laid there dazed and with a fogged mind. He stared up at Susie, looking in her yellow eyes. His eyes are red from crying, mucus running from his nose still.
Susie looks back down at her boy affectionately, wiping the snot off with her sleeve once more. “You with me, B?”
Basil nods. He takes a shaky breath. He brings his hands up to grab onto Susie’s and gives them a tight squeeze.
“W..Why am I wet?” he asks, his voice mumbled.
“You, uhm, pissed yourself,” Susie awkwardly replies. “It’s, like, fine though. It happens with seizures,” her snout scrunches when she talks, like she’s deep in thought. “Thats what it says on all those doctor websites you sent me.”
Basil starts to tear up again and tries to pull away, but Susie grips his hands just a bit tighter. “It’s fine dumbass, I just said. I don’t care. We’re in a bathroom anyway,” she cracks a playful smirk. “You wanna sit up?”
Basil nods. She helps him sit up flat on the ground.
“Do you want help getting undressed?”
“Excuse me?”
“You’ve been sitting in piss for like twenty minutes. I'm bathing you. Do you want help undressing or not?”
Basil laughs a little, mostly from embarrassment, but nevertheless, he laughed. “That..would be helpful, actually.”
Susie helps her boyfriend get out of his soaked clothes, and into the tub. She stares at Basil, just taking him in. Staring like she had never seen anything more beautiful. She didn’t flinch at the scars covering his body, the stretch marks, or any of the other impurities. All Susie saw was the boy she was madly, deeply, truly in love with.
Basil’s tail began to wag as he saw Susie stare at him with that dopey, tooth filled grin and flushed cheeks. “Susie?”
“Oh! Uhm— sorry,” she awkwardly rubs her neck before taking off her bracelets. “Sit down in the tub, dumbass. You shouldn’t be standing right now.” Basil sighs dramatically before following her command.
Susie grabs the shower head and turns it on, spraying the warm water on Basil’s head. She squirts the shampoo into her hands and rubs it into Basil’s head, scratching behind his ears. His tail thuds against the bathtub, making Susie laugh. She shampoos and conditions his head and tail.
“You good to wash your body on your own, B?” Susie asks, rinsing the conditioner out of Basil’s hair and off of her hands. The dog nods. “Alright, I'm still staying in here though.” Susie shuts the shower curtain before sitting on the toilet.
Susie sighs as he stares at the floor where the accident happened. She throws the bathroom towel on the floor and rubs it around with her foot. She can mop tomorrow, it’s 2:45 am and neither of them have slept.
Basil comes out of the shower, and Susie grabs a fresh towel to dry him off with. She ruffles his hair and puts his glasses on him. Susie helps him to her room and sits him on the bed.
Susie grabs a pair of boxers and a hoodie and tosses it to Basil. “You want pants or nah?” He shakes his head. Susie walks back over to the bed and takes her snot stained jacked off and puts on a sweater she stole from Kris.
The purple monster messily swipes the remnants of her potato chips off of the bed. Basil laughs at her aggressively swiping the sheet.“Oh shut it, it’s too late to actually clean.”
Basil just giggled more. He takes his glasses off and sets them on the nightstand.
Susie crawls into bed with Basil and wraps her arms around him, pulling his head into her chest. Basil wrapped his tail around Susie’s leg and his arms around her waist.
“I love you, Basil. Even at your lowest.”
“You’re so corny.”
“Oh shut up.”
