Chapter Text
Thud. Thud.
“Speak up lamb chops.”
Thud. Screams. Red.
“What hurts more? A or B?”
Thud. Cough. Thud. Blood.
“Next time you see him, tell the big man I said hello.”

It hurt.
Everything was hurting and Jason wanted desperately for it to stop.
His ears rang loud like sirens as he crawled across the cold floor, was it the floor that was cold or his body. He was hurt. He was terrified. He felt betrayed. He looked over at Sheila, his supposed mother, and just felt a pain that overwhelmed. An anger from deep within his soul. Jason wanted to scream, cry, beg for answers but he couldn’t. Not right now. Right now, he had to be Robin, and Robin always saved people. No matter who they were or what they’d done.
It hurt to walk, and yet Jason walked. It hurt to speak, and yet Jason spoke. It felt wrong to soothe her pain, and yet Jason forced out words of encouragement and promises of safety to the woman who’d caused this entire situation. Everything felt wrong to him and he didn’t know what to do. Bruce had always said he was too emotional for his own good.

Tick…Tick…
The door wouldn’t open.
Tick… Tick…
They were confined in the warehouse.
Tick…Tick…
No, they were trapped. Out of the corner of his eye, Robin- no- Jason saw a timed bomb.
Tick…Tick…
The timer was counting down. Jason hugged Sheila in a protective hold to shield her from the blast.
Tick…
All Jason could think of were regrets of ever thinking that this woman could’ve possibly been better to him than Bruce.
Tick.
A blast sounded and suddenly the world around him went black. Jason could vaguely hear the sounds of rubble being thrown around as he succumbed to the darkness and let himself go.
All Jason could’ve hoped for was that the afterlife would be better than the one he’d had on earth.
