Work Text:
A rush of blood shot through the head of the Chancellor, Gordon Brown. His breath deep as he began to comprehend what he had done. I have just kissed Peter Mandelson Gordon thought angrily, I have just kissed Peter Mandelson! Unfound rage began to swell in Gordon, as he turned to look at Peter all he could feel was fury. His fists clenched.
“Gordon.” Every muscle suddenly went at ease within Gordon’s body. The sound of Peter’s voice didn’t usually have this effect on the Scotsman, yet now things were… different, “What’s wrong?”
Gordon breathed heavily, “What’s wrong is that I just kissed you!”
Peter laughed for a moment, “Well, I don’t see anything wrong with that.”
“Oh I fucking hate you!” Gordon spat as he brought himself to his feet, collecting a document labelled “CLASSIFIED” as he did so.
“No you don’t.” Peter said calmly.
“And how would you know what I want?” Gordon retorted viciously, as he tossed the classified document upon the nearest desk.
“Because I’m the one you just fell in love with.”
Silence again bellowed through the Northern Irish room as the two men met each others glances. They had just shared a kiss, yet now it seemed impossible to share a look.
“I am terribly sorry Peter, but I am not in love you!” Gordon stammered as he dug his way through files.
“Oh who do you love then?” Peter asked as he waved his arms through the air, “Because if you bloody loved Sarah, why would you be here snogging me!”
Gordon paused for a moment, “I can love two people at the same time… that’s how that works.”
“Oh what, so you are in love with me?” Peter chuckled.
“No I—“ Gordon battled, his stutter growing as he attempted to defend himself, “I don’t love you Peter. It was only a kiss, okay?”
“And you enjoyed it?” Peter raised his well groomed eyebrows.
“Of course I bloody enjoyed it!” Gordon rolled his eyes aggressively, “Humans enjoy kissing humans it has nothing to do with whether you have a dick or not.”
“Do you enjoy kissing Sarah?” Peter pushed to the dismay of the Chancellor.
“Yes.” Gordon lied through his teeth.
“Don’t lie to me, Gordon.” Gordon found himself oddly attracted to the sternness in Peter’s voice.
“I can like both a man and a woman!” Gordon pleaded.
“Don’t be stupid!” Laughed Peter, “Now c’mon, kiss me again.”
Gordon didn’t respond. He didn’t even look at Peter. He just froze and stared at the wall. He wanted to kiss Peter. He wanted to kiss him really bad. But he couldn’t. He shouldn’t. He had a soon-to-be wife. He was going to have a child. He couldn’t just kiss a man. But he already had kissed a man. What’s one more time? Gordon thought to himself. Peter wanted him as much as he wanted Peter. Was there really much point in resisting?
Gordon turned around where he was met with the close up face of the Hartlepool MP. A small surprised moan left Gordon’s lips as they found their way onto those of Peter Mandelson. Again and again, the pair kissed. Their bodies leaving no room for Jesus as they breathed down each others necks.
Please, Gordon thought, Please never fucking end. Gordon had never felt happier. The paper thin lips of Peter Mandelson caressed Gordon’s face in a way he had never felt before. The longer they kissed the more Gordon’s mind raced to what would happen when it ended. Would they just go back to being colleagues? Not even friends? Or would they have one last night of passion? God, Gordon hoped it was the last one.
“Wait, Gordon—“ Peter pulled away suddenly, “Before we do anything else, do you have a condom with you?”
Gordon froze in time, “A… A condom?” The chancellor was almost too shocked to speak.
“Yes?” Peter squinted his eyes, “We are going to have sex, correct?”
“Oh right… yes!” Gordon nodded rapidly, the excitement almost causing him to fall back onto the desk behind him.
“Do you have a condom?” Peter repeated, Gordon was taken aback by the anger in his voice.
“No but—“ Gordon chose his words carefully, “Don’t you not need to use one because… Well because I’m not exactly going to get pregnant am I?”
“Oh so you’re a bottom?” Peter asked quickly before wiping the distraction from his mind, “We need a condom in case one of us has some sort of disease!”
“You have a disease?” Gordon seized the desk in shock.
“No,” Peter rolled his eyes, “But it’s better to be safe, is it not?”
“Yes, of course I—“
Peter felt Gordon pause, “Gordon, do you want to do this?”
“I do, Peter.” Gordon sighed, "I promise you I do, can I just have a moment?”
Peter didn’t say another word, to Gordon’s surprise, he was quite respectful. Peter left the room and shut the door. Gordon slapped himself, Why couldn’t you just say yes? Gordon screamed at himself angrily. He did really want to be with Peter, it was all he wanted in that moment. But he was scared. He was scared of lots of things. His career had been defined by him not being brave enough to take a step forward. And so for the first time in a long time, Gordon Brown decided he had to be brave.
