THAT’S NOT HOW YOU DO IT

Summary:

BlastTrain was given advice by Mona and Edo on how to show someone that you appreciate their bond. Only for BlastTrain to completely misunderstand it and leave everyone questioning.

Notes:

HOOOOOO, YOU THOUGHT I WAS DONE? OH NAHHH, Here’s a fic that leans towards a more funny situation! I personally like to think that BlastTrain may not be blissfully unaware of social cues, but the fact he has been alone for so long it left him puzzled on how to do so.
They’re jus a couple of silly billies 😞

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

BlastTrain had pondered to himself for quite a bit, how does one show a friendly gratitude toward someone you’ve come to respect? By now, BlastTrain considered them a very nice friend.

Now, it is not that BlastTrain is unaware of social cues or how to keep a friendship. The problem is the fact that BlastTrain has gotten used to being alone, especially back at Planet Machina. There, he never stayed in one place. He was always moving along his own tracks across the globe. That was why BlastTrain could never maintain a stable friendship with a Metal Cardbot and had spent the majority of his life alone. So, he felt uncertain on how exactly he could go about doing this.

BlastTrain, while in his drone form, was deep in thought, a fact that didn’t go unnoticed by the two adult humans, Miss Mona and Edo. “ He seems very deep in thought.. “ Edo pointed out, while he was moving cardboard boxes onto shelves. Miss Mona, who also noticed BlastTrain’s thoughtful expression nodded in agreement, “ Indeed… suppose he’s troubled by something? “ She said, as she tapped her finger against her lip.

“ I must ask.. “ Mona muttered, almost to herself as she began to approach BlastTrain, of course Edo perked up to see her approach BlastTrain, which of course he has GOT to follow her.

BlastTrain would notice from the corner of his vision both Mona and Edo approaching, to which he’d stand up tall and straight as he greeted them both with a tilt of his hat. “ Miss Mona, Mr Edo, Good afternoon “ He said, a polite look to his optics as he hid his hands behind his back. “ Is something the matter? “

“ Could ask you the same, BlastTrain.. “ Edo would speak up first as he put his hands against his hips, his eyebrow raised. “ Indeed, you seem to be very deep in thought. Are you alright?“ Mona would continue, putting her hands together as she looked up at BlastTrain. BlastTrain wouldn’t wanna worry Mona and Edo, to which he sighed as his shoulders slightly slouched. “ Oh… I do not wish to worry the both of you with this but… I must say, I wish to thank a bot for the wonderful bond that we have developed but I’m quite puzzled on how to do so in a friendly manner. “

Both Mona and Edo were confused by the statement, outside BlastTrain seemed like the most socially educated bot out of all of the other Metal Cardbots. “ What do you mean by such BlastTrain?.. “ Mona would ask, to which BlastTrain tapped a finger against his faceplate as he replied. “ Well, I personally never had a stable friendship, specifically with a Metal Cardbot. So, I thought I could show my gratitude to them in some way. But I’m unsure how. “

“ Well, you could always just get a gift for them and write them a letter. “ Edo simply replied, but such options didn’t suffice for this kind of bond just yet, perhaps a later time. “ Or, you could take examples of how I have shown you gratitude for our friendship. It does not always have to be a gift of sorts, verbal and physical gratitudes are very nice to give as well! “ Mona would suggest with a smile. Verbal or physical gratitudes… Miss Mona as an example. The most prominent idea of a gratitude that BlastTrain could remember was when Miss Mona returned back to MowTown to thank him for…

BlastTrain’s optics would flash pink at the memory, before returning back to its original green color. He felt flustered at the idea of even preforming such action, but… it seemed like the best option. BlastTrain would nod with encouragement as he said. “ Then physical gratitude shall be done. “

Mona seemed to smile more to see BlastTrain   determined.

(•̀ᴗ•́)و — 𝐅𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝!

Mona and Edo would peak out of the garage door to watch as BlastTrain has turned into his general form, the two humans only watching for moral support. BlastTrain looked over at them both, seemingly nervous. Mona encouragingly nodded as she gave him a thumbs up while Edo waved his hand, urging BlastTrain to go. BlastTrain nodded as he began to walk towards the direction of the 3 Metal Cardbots.

“ HAH! I WIN! “ SparkBeat yelled loudly, throwing his hands up in the air before laughing out loud. Red Blitz was absolutely flabbergasted as he grabbed at his head. “ WHAT?? THAT’S NOT FAIR?? HOW DID YOU WIN FOUR TIMES IN A ROW!! “ Red Blitz yelled, clearly humiliated by the defeat.

“ I love this Rock Paper Scissor game! These games that are made by humans are amazing! “ SparkBeat boasted as he brushed his metal ‘hair’ back with confidence, Flash Vector who was standing right beside SparkBeat remained quiet with his arms crossed, but nodding with approval nonetheless.

“ THERE’S NO WAY, I’M SURE YOUR BROTHER WAS HELPING YOU CHEAT! “ Red Blitz would point his finger at Flash Vector, who in return glared back at Red Blitz. “ HEY, DON’T PULL MY BROTHER INTO THIS!! HE DID NO SUCH THING!! “ SparkBeat argued back as he poked aggressively at Red Blitz’s forehead.

Though as the two argued, Flash Vector would be the only one to notice BlastTrain approaching them. As BlastTrain finally approached, both Red Blitz and SparkBeat seized their arguing to look up at the train conductor, hoping that they weren’t in trouble…

“ Heyy… BlastTrain. Whatcha doin’ here? “ SparkBeat asked, tilting his head to the side. BlastTrain seemed almost nervous before his eyes panned down towards Flash Vector. “ Flash Vector?.. “

Flash Vector perked up as he looked at BlastTrain intently. “ What is it? “ He’d ask in his usual cold tone. BlastTrain was clearly nervous about something, he’d crouch down in front of Flash Vector before leaning over to press his faceplate against Flash Vector’s side of his faceplate. A small current of electricity traveled in between the two, letting out a small sound of a buzz.

Oh

My

God.

SparkBeat’s eyes were wider than ever as he witnessed his older brother get smooched, to which Red Blitz seemed just as flabbergasted but also, humored. But, Flash Vector himself seemed frozen in place. For once, his serious look turned into one of shock as his eyes completely widened. BlastTrain, felt himself begin to glitch as his eyes completely flashed pink. “ Thank you!! “ BlastTrain exclaimed before he stood up and fled from the scene, pink sparks flying out of him as he hurried away.

Mona and Edo stood there, unclear on how to react. Mona put both of her hands over her mouth, clearly not expecting BlastTrain to go towards that direction. Edo himself was completely speechless, putting both of his hands over his face in second hand embarrassment.

Suddenly, Red Blitz erupted into a stammered laughter as he pointed at Flash Vector. “ DEUS MACHINA, YOU ARE IN A RELATIONSHIP???? NO WAY!(!?!?!? “ Meanwhile SparkBeat was trying to bring his brother back to his senses as he began to shake him and screaming at him. “ BIG BRO, WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN!!?!! WHAT IS GOING ON!! “

Flash Vector himself was internally fighting for his life, he was frozen in shock but his mind was ignited into flames. ‘ OH MY GOD, WHAT WAS THIS IDIOT THINKING. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN, SCRATCH THAT. WHY DO IT IN FRONT OF MY BROTHER. DON’T JUST LEAVE ME HERE ALL ALONE TO DEAL WITH THIS. BLASTRAIN, COME BACK!!!
