Work Text:
The sun has begun to hide its head under the blanket of the water now.
I kick my feet at the edge of the dock in which we sit on. We're both wrapped up in our towels, trying not to worsen the shiver.
Looking at them, it's obvious they got soaked the most. Their head still looks rather drenched. I reach over with my towel to try and wipe some of the water off.
"Ergh-" they put up their hand, gently trying to push my arm down while they distanced their head away. "No.. my nose is starting to feel a little drippy."
"Aw, my bad."
"Its fine." A sniffle.
I was starting to warm up now, my shivers slowly subsiding.
I could still feel their arm shivering against mine though.
I go and hook my arm around them, bringing them closer. They lean their head on my shoulder, pressing their head under my jaw, against my neck. A soft hum comes from them as I rub my hand along their arm.
The sun has become shyer now, and the waves are lapping a little bit further up the way as they try to make room for the sun.
I watch as their hand clenches the hem of their towel and the way they curl & pull the towel into themselves.
Their shivering has lessened now, though, there are still a few
Sniffles
Here and there.
Im trying to keep my balance with them on me. My body still feels like its in the water. I can feel how the waves have pushed and pulled. Turned and tossled.
With the breaths they do make, I quietly listen to. I imagine them joining in chorus with the wind that courses through the leaves ever so gently.
I look at their chest & how it rises and falls.
I look at their eyes, and how they search out, but not on anything that lays in front of them.
I feel as they press their eye ever so more against the crook of my shoulder.
I look down at them. Their eyes compass lands on me now.
And for a bit,
We just stare at eachother.
...
Until I cant hide the goofy smile creeping on my face.
They let out a chuff at it, playfully shoving further against me.
I like all of this.
I like the silence.
The tip of the sun's head is only seen now, slowly becoming covered to ready for its morning rise.
