Work Text:
Despite it being four months since getting his newly bitten mating mark, Taehyung still finds himself in complete awe every time he catches sight of it in the mirror and spends a longer amount of time getting himself dolled up as he smiles at his mark with a lovestruck look on his face, room smelling like sweet ripe strawberries, because—
“Wow.” he mutters in a breathless tone, placing his hairbrush down and leaning an elbow on the table to look at his mark up close, feeling the fresh new bond thrum gently beneath his skin, reminding him of how he and Jeongguk are bound to be together for life.
It’s still a little mind boggling to him, honestly. Being mated to Jeon Jeongguk, that is. And not because he doubted the alpha’s love and commitment for him since he knows all about Jeongguk— his husband and mate’s insurmountable affection and dedication. But rather, it blows his mind because despite the odds; despite the obstacles and setbacks and even that small shadow of doubt that played tricks in Taehyung’s mind, whispering in his ear that mating Jeongguk was an unlikely thing to happen, he and the alpha still ended up together and the mating mark on his neck, as well as the golden ring on his left hand and their shared last name were living proof of it.
“Jeon Taehyung.” the omega whispers, the corner of his lips twisting into a small smile as the words register in his head. Shaking his head in disbelief as he grabs his hair brush again and tends to the nest on top of his head. Humming idly under his breath as he prepares for the day. The smile on his face becoming more and more permanent as time progresses.
People always ask Taehyung why he decided to change his last name after marrying Jeongguk since it was pretty uncommon for wolves, especially those who come from a reputable family, to change them. It’s kind of like a cultural tradition of sorts to keep the family lineage going.
Yoongi and Jimin decided to keep their own last names when they mated to preserve to observe that tradition whereas Namjoon and Seokjin didn’t even have to worry about changing theirs since they already had the same one.
But for Taehyung, it was a no brainer. He knew instantly that he wanted to lose the Kim and become a Jeon instead. When asked, the simple answer has always been: “Well, Jeongguk is the love of my life. I’d stitch my right ballsack with his left one if he lets me so we could never be apart, but since that complicates a whole lot of things, I guess sharing identical rings and bites and a last name is the closest thing I could get”.
Perhaps the-stitching-their-ballsacks-together part is kind of a little crazy. (Although Taehyung did recommend it to the alpha once when the latter had to be away for an entire day. Jeongguk merely snorted at him, but Taehyung never outright heard him say no.)
But as for the love of his life part, it's simply the truth. He changed it so he and Jeongguk could have even more things to share as a mated and married couple. He is his other half and his twin flame, after all, and Taehyung wouldn’t have it any other way.
People always say that you shouldn’t love someone too much and that you should always leave some for yourself, but Taehyung never felt the urge to hold back when it came to loving Jeongguk.
How can he, when he knows that Jeongguk feels the same way? When he can feel the alpha’s all encompassing love pour through their bond day in and day out and when he knows that Jeongguk would love him more than he loves himself most times?
Loving and to be loved by Jeon Jeongguk was a privilege that Taehyung will never dream of taking for granted. (Although his tendencies to wreak havoc teeters the line sometimes, yet regardless, Taehyung does it with love nonetheless.)
So when Jeongguk jokingly brought up the topic of changing Taehyung’s last name to Jeon while they were getting their documents ready for their courthouse wedding— an opportunity that Taehyung has been looking for the chance to bring up— the omega agreed without second thought.
After all, it’s not like he hasn’t thought about it ever since he confirmed that Jeongguk was the one. He even has a page at the back of his college diary where the words Jeon Taehyung were written in his lopsided cursive repeatedly, complete with a few messy doodles of hearts and stick figures of the two of them in wedding attire, to corroborate.
At first, Jeongguk thought that he wasn’t being serious and that it was just one of those things that Taehyung says but doesn’t actually mean (i.e. stitching their ballsacks together). But on the day of their wedding, the alpha was pleasantly surprised to see Taehyung submit an application to get his surname changed from Kim to Jeon, and had hugged Taehyung tighter than usual as he asked if he was sure. Taehyung merely kissed Jeongguk with a smile that lit up his entire face and said that he is.
Taehyung never regretted that decision. Well, the part where he had to change all his IDs and other legal documents was kind of a drag, but alas, Kim Taehyung— now, Jeon Taehyung— has never regretted it. RIP Kim Taehyung, and all that.
Though, as happy as he is with his new name and new life, there is also another reason why Taehyung decided to shift from a Kim to a Jeon. The more complicated reason, as he liked to call it.
He never really told anyone apart from Jeongguk and a handful of his close friends since it’s something a bit sensitive, but the thing is, being a Kim, despite the prestige it carries and the reputation it upholds, means wearing a heavy golden bejeweled crown whose weight was too much for Taehyung to carry.
Growing up, Taehyung has been told numerous times how he’s one of the luckiest wolves to be born into the world. And in hindsight, he could see why people would think that way considering he’s born into one of the wealthiest and most powerful packs in Daegu. Being a Kim practically meant being royal and his reputation always preceded him.
He was always known as Kim Taehyung, sole heir to the largest publishing company in the country and generations worth of wealth.
Kim Taehyung, the spoiled nepo pup, born with a golden spoon in his mouth and who could have anything his heart desires.
Kim Taehyung, the luckiest wolf alive.
It was never just Taehyung. It has always been Kim Taehyung.
So he knows he’s fortunate in a way, yes. But Taehyung never really believed that he was lucky as they say he was.
Or at least, not until he met Jeongguk.
Jeon Jeongguk, who overlooked the Kim, and saw him— just him, just Taehyung instead.
Jeon Jeongguk who stumbled into the campus’ clinic that one fateful day, running late for his shift, out of breath, and causing the entire room to smell like a field of cotton. Who wore those ridiculous brown timberlands with his blue uniform and took one look at Taehyung’s slightly battered face (It’s a long story. Don’t ask.), and went, “Woah. You’re beautiful.”
Taehyung was understandably caught off guard. He’s been told he’s handsome countless times, but beautiful? That was new. And the way Jeongguk said it. Like he means it. Like he only ever associated that word— beautiful— with him, stirred something within him that made his usually snarky tongue tied and mouth speechless.
And as if that didn’t change the chemistry of Taehyung’s brain enough, Jeongguk had to add, “Let me take care of you.” to mix, and did— with utmost care and gentleness that he didn’t think that an alpha could ever possess.
Taehyung grew up mostly around alphas his entire life and they all embodied what a textbook alpha should be— dominant, assertive and so on. Despite being the heir omega of the Kim household, he was no exception to rank hierarchy and had to respect them even when they didn’t deserve it.
So meeting an alpha like Jeongguk, who frowned worriedly and muttered his soft apologies as he tended to the gash on his eyebrow and the bruise on his cheek with light fingers, was new. Being taken care of by an alpha in this way was different.
Despite the complications of falling for someone like Jeongguk, Taehyung did anyway. It was hard not to, after all.
There had been so many times where he had to force himself to comply and to give in despite his wishes, but Jeongguk’s presence in his life never felt like Taehyung was supposed to pick him against his judgement. He just did— easily, freely and willingly.
When Jeongguk said that he would take care of him, Taehyung never thought that he’d do it for the rest of their life.
And if he thought he wasn’t lucky before, he guesses it’s safe to think otherwise now. And although the real world without his father’s monetary support hasn't been easy— having to pay for his own things now and work two jobs to help pay for the small apartment that he and Jeongguk are renting on top of their cost of living, and Taehyung’s college loan, he still thinks the same.
After all, Taehyung made his own luck by taking a chance on Jeongguk, and ever since, he has started to believe that luck is made— it’s called upon and manifested.
Lucky Boy Syndrome, as Jeongguk called it. The alpha never believed in luck. He was the type to put his plans to action and make it happen instead of relying on some invisible deity to make things happen, but he never once called Taehyung out for starting believing in luck since the omega firmly believed it played a part in making their paths cross.
Sometimes, though, luck seemed absent or was on a break. It usually becomes MIA whenever Taehyung had a long day at work; when the skies opened to release a bout of rain and on the day he just so happened to forget to take an umbrella with him despite Jeongguk’s constant reminders. Or when he made a carefully detailed plan for once to make sure everything goes smoothly, and something suddenly goes amiss, ruining everything.
Like how it is now.
The sound of his phone ringing echoes in the bedroom, prompting Taehyung to drop his hairbrush on the table and take a peek at his phone. He smiles instantly when he finds a picture of Jeongguk’s face flashing on the screen.
“Jeon Taehyung speaking.” Taehyung grins, dopey and wide as he fills the bond through their mating mark hitch.
Jeongguk chuckles on the other line. “Hi, Mr. Jeon,” he replies. Taehyung can already see his mate’s smile. “How are you?”
“Good.” the omega replies, twisting around his chair and leaning back as he continues to smile. “I kind of miss the other Mr. Jeon, though.”
“You miss my dad?” the alpha teases, causing Taehyung to snort.
“As a matter of fact, I do.” Taehyung challenges with a smirk. “I miss your dad and your mom a lot. We should visit them again soon.”
Jeongguk hums. The sound of a smile still lingering in his tone of voice. “We could make that happen,” he replies. “The last time we saw them was at our wedding.”
Taehyung grins. “Right,” he says, still breathless at the reminder of the best day of his life. “Our wedding. Good times.”
“Great times. The best. Ten out of ten would do it again with you.” Jeongguk adds, causing Taehyung to giggle.
“You’re such a simp.” the omega rolls his eyes. “Anyway, to what do I owe the pleasure of hearing from you while you’re on your shift? Did you need something? A quickie over the phone, perhaps?”
Jeongguk scoffs. “Don’t be silly.”
“What?” Taehyung smiles eagerly. “I’m good at phone sex, too. C’mon, let’s make it quick. Ask me what I’m wearing!”
“Baby.”
Taehyung sighs at him dramatically. “Your loss.” he replies. “I was gonna say I’m wearing nothing under the shirt you were wearing this morning.”
He hears Jeongguk release a breath on the other line. “Baby, I’m at work.” he chides lightly. “C’mon. Not now.”
“Fine.” Taehyung pouts. “But on a serious note, why did you call? You never call during your shift.”
“I call you a lot of times.” Jeongguk argues.
“Yeah. On your breaks.” Taehyung counters back. “Which isn’t in one hour and seven minutes from now.”
“That’s oddly specific.”
“Well, what can I say? It’s the best time of the day.” Taehyung retorts unashamedly. Not needing to hold back from letting Jeongguk know how much he means to him. He feels their bond buzz with a hint of affection, making him smile.
“Is that so?” the alpha asks. “Well mine is every time I go home and kiss you.”
“I’ll make sure you get a lot of kisses later, then.” Taehyung promises.
“Will you be in the same clothes you’re wearing now?” Jeongguk asks in a suggestive tone. “In nothing but my shirt, that is?”
Taehyung feels his entire body heat. “Maybe I’ll even lose the shirt if you go home early.” he mutters.
“Tempting.” Jeongguk replies. “I’ll do my rounds quickly then.”
“Sounds like a plan.” the omega says with a smile. “But seriously, Bun. What’s up? Why did you call?”
“I just called to say I love you.”
“Yeah, sure. I love you too.” Taehyung snorts, his cheeks turning crimson. “Anything else?”
“Yeah, actually.” Jeongguk sighs.
And perhaps the mating mark plays a role or maybe it’s just that Taehyung knows the alpha too well, but there’s something in his tone that causes the playfulness in him to halt for a second and causes a tinge of anxiety to course in him.
Jeongguk seems to understand what’s happening instantly since he knows him well, too, and he feels the bond tingle. He hears the alpha hum at him in a reassuring tone. “Hey, it’s nothing bad, Baby. I promise. I actually just called to talk to you about something.”
“Well, I have a feeling that this isn’t going to turn out the way I want it to,” Taehyung says, shifting in his seat and turning to face the mirror again. Looking at his mating mark to ease the worries he’s feeling. “So just tell me what it is before I start overthinking.”
Jeongguk sighs at him, not even bothering to hide the fact that it is concerning news.
“So, I know we have plans to go to Jeju tomorrow.” The alpha starts slowly, hesitatingly.
Taehyung frowns. Despite it being four months since they got married and mated, they haven’t had the chance to go on a proper honeymoon since they didn’t have the money yet.
When they decided to get mated and married, it was done spontaneously. His father had already disowned him at that point, but the elder alpha still sent a ton of suitors in Taehyung’s way as an attempt to test their relationship.
Jeongguk never blamed Taehyung for what’s happening, but it was clear that the presence of those unwelcomed alphas, who knocked at their door with a couple of expensive-looking courting gifts, aggravated him.
Jeongguk isn’t poor per se. His parents were both well known dentists in Busan, and the alpha grew up comfortably with their support. However, he was nowhere near close to how wealthy Taehyung’s family and the Kims’ close acquaintances were. And although Jeongguk has never mentioned it, Taehyung had a strong feeling that it’s been something that the alpha has been self-conscious about, since their life was nowhere near close to Taehyung’s old one.
Hence, they got married and mated to fend those relentless suitors away, and agreed to save up for a belated honeymoon. A week-long honeymoon scheduled the next day. Or at least, Taehyung hopes that that’s still the case.
“Yes.” Taehyung swallows, watching himself in the mirror frown as he waits for the alpha to continue. “It’s our honeymoon in case you forgot, Bun.”
“I know, Baby. I know we’ve been planning this trip for months, but…” Jeongguk trails off, a tired sigh escaping his lips as he smacks his lips.
“The director of the Emergency Department asked if I wanted to come with him to a medical conference tomorrow and assist him with a couple of demonstrations on that new CPR guideline we’ve been using at the hospital.” he starts to explain. “He picked me because I’ve basically mastered it by now—”
“Of course you have.” Taehyung grumbles.
“—And he thought it would be good if I came to do the demo to get some more exposure.” Jeongguk finishes in a careful tone. “He will also pay for my time, which I can’t deny, is a lot of money, Tae.
“How good is it?” Taehyung asks, raising an eyebrow at him.
“An entire month’s pay.” Jeongguk reveals. “And a letter of recommendation.”
Taehyung sighs as he slumps back in his chair. Unable to deny that the offer is good since they’ve been playing catch up on their bills and Jeongguk has been trying to get transferred to the hospital where Seokjin and Namjoon were doing their post graduate residency, and where Hoseok has just been assigned head nurse. According to Jeongguk, the pay and the benefits were better than the current hospital he’s working at, but it was hard to get in since it was prestigious.
Plus, it’s not like their honeymoon is anything grand. They merely booked the cheapest room at some resort by the beach and their only plan was to have as much sex as they can, which they have already been doing at home.
Still, it’s their honeymoon. It isn’t exactly Paris or Tokyo or all those other places where honeymooners go, but it’s theirs. It’s special because it’s their honeymoon.
“I didn’t say yes just yet, Baby.” Jeongguk adds in a reassuring tone. “I only called to see what you think and you know I’d say no if it would upset you. It’s just that—”
“I know, Bun.” Taehyung sighs defeatedly. Attempting a small smile as he comforts his alpha through their bond. “Don’t worry about it, okay? It’s fine. I think it’s a great idea. You should agree.”
“Wait. Really?” Jeongguk asks, sounding genuinely shocked, and causing the omega to scoff.
“Why do you sound so surprised?” Taehyung grumbles. “I can be supportive too, you know!”
“No, no. I know you can!” Jeongguk replies. “It’s just— I know you’ve been looking forward to the trip.”
“I am.” the omega admits honestly. “But this sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity, Gukkie. Like you said, the pay is not bad at all plus it can give you that ticket into that hospital you’ve been yearning for.”
Jeongguk snorts. “I’ve only yearned for you, Tae.”
Taehyung chuckles at him fondly. “You don’t have to yearn for me anymore, though,” he says in a gentle tone. “You have me tied down and bitten, and you even changed my last name.”
“I did. Didn’t I?” the other replies. Taehyung can sense the alpha smiling.
“Yes.” he agrees with a nod. “And I’m not going anywhere, Gukkie. I mean, it sucks that we have to reschedule our honeymoon, but— there’s always next time. Right?”
“Right.” Jeongguk says in a soft and fond tone. “We’ll have tons of honeymoons in the future, Baby. We’re forever, after all.”
Taehyung snorts, but that giddy feeling consumes his chest and causes his cheeks to burn. “So it’s settled,” he says. “You’ll go to that conference thingy and I guess I’ll have to cancel our reservation tomorrow and hope we can get a refund back.”
“I think it’s too late to get a refund back, though.” Jeongguk sighs. “I read their cancellation policy before calling and you need to cancel at least a week before.”
“Oh well.” Taehyung breathes out, frowning at his suitcase at the corner of his room. “I mean, it’s not like it’s that expensive anyway, Bun. We can afford the loss, plus you’ll earn more with the conference anyway.”
“Or—” Jeongguk says in a suggestive tone, causing Taehyung to raise an eyebrow. “You could just go without me.”
Taehyung clicks his tongue at him. “You want me to go on our honeymoon by myself?” he says in a clipped tone. “What am I going to do there? Finger myself and cry myself to sleep alternatively?”
Jeongguk scoffs. “Well, I was thinking you could take Jimin hyung or someone with you,” he says. “We accidentally bought some travel insurance with our tickets anyway, and it says we can change the name to someone else.”
“You really did your research on this, huh?”
The alpha chuckles. “I was just thinking of a back-up plan, Baby.” he says softly. “Not that I expected you to let me go to this conference or anything, but it was something I thought about in case you said yes.”
Taehyung manages to smile at the alpha genuinely. Feeling so loved— so lucky to be mated to someone like Jeongguk. If it were some other alpha, they would have told Taehyung what was going to happen and leave him with no choice but to go along with it, but Jeongguk has never ever deprived him of a choice just yet. Every decision he makes is done mutually between them.
“I’ll think about it,” the omega says. “I mean, I’m not sure if Jimin is free but I’ll call and ask him.”
“Okay.” Jeongguk smiles. “Just text me what your plans are so I can talk to Dr. Choi about it.”
“Tell Dr. Choi, you’re going, Bunbun.” Taehyung instructs. “Like I said, you’d be pretty dumb to say no this opportunity.”
Jeongguk snorts. “Fine, I will,” he replies. “But what about you?”
“Don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine.” Taaehyung clicks his tongue at him. “I’ll just go with whatever flow the universe sets and hopefully I’ll get lucky too.”
“Of course you will, my lucky boy.” the alpha smiles. “I know you’d work things out.”
“I always will.” Taehyung nods at his mate. “So yeah, it’s fine, Bun. Go on that work thingy and I’ll call Jimin and ask if he wants to go on a honeymoon with me.”
“A trip. ” Jeongguk corrects firmly, causing Taehyung to grin.
“Sure, alpha. A trip.” the omega snickers.
Jeongguk sighs. “Anyway, I need to go back to work, Baby. I’ll call you again on my break in—”
“An hour and five minutes from now.” Taehyung interjects. “I know. I have a timer.”
“Of course.” Jeongguk laughs. “I’ll call you in an hour and five minutes, Baby. I love you, okay? Thank you.”
“Thank you, too, Gukkie.” Taehyung smiles, genuinely at that. “I love you too. Have a great day. Oh, and uh, Bun?”
“Yeah?”
“I’ve been jacking myself off while we're talking all this time.” Taehyung bites his lips mischievously. “I love it when you talk about providing for me. It turns me on so much.”
Jeongguk groans on the other line. “Baby.” he says in a quiet tone. “Stop.”
Taehyung pretends to moan into the moan, withholding the giggle threatening to escape his lips as he listens to the alpha complain on the other line.
“I’m coming, Bun.” Taehyung says. “I’m close. I’m—”
“Baby. I swear I’ll—”
Taehyung disconnects the call suddenly and releases the giggle that he’s been holding.
“That should make tonight more interesting.” he tells himself with a victorious smile, feeling their bond buzz with excitement as he sits in his chair.
A few minutes later, the realization that he and Jeongguk aren’t going to their honeymoon sinks in and causes him to feel a little disappointed. He’s not upset with Jeongguk at all. He knows that they have to do what they have to do, and that some sacrifices have to be made.
However, he can’t help but reminisce about the time when he had all those disposable wealth and all those important connections that could help them out.
But alas, it is what it is. Taehyung still has no regrets picking Jeongguk over all those things.
Plus, luck is still on their side. It opened an opportunity for them to make their life better. Sure it may have come with its price, but he knows it’ll all be worth it.
His phone buzzes again with a text message from Jeongguk.
Taehyung smiles as he reads the message.
Bunbun ❣
Make sure you’re ready by the time I get home, Baby.
Taehyung snickers.
Me:
You’re lucky I always am.
He senses their mating bond thrum slowly a few seconds after sending the text.
Bunbun ❣
I always feel lucky every time I wake up next to you.
Me:
Check my sugar later. I think I’m getting diabetes.
Stop being sweet. Sheesh.
Bunbun ❣
I can’t help it.
I’m mated to the sexiest and most understanding omega in the world.
I’m afraid I need to hook you up with some insulin for as long as we live.
Me
🥺
Love you
Bunbun ❣
😘
Love you more.
Talk to you later, Jeon.
Taehyung giggles unabashedly as he reads the last text message his mate sent and leans back on his chair.
Maybe all those people who said that he was the luckiest wolf in the world weren’t wrong, the omega thinks to himself.
After all, Jeongguk makes him feel like he is everyday.
.
.
.
Taehyung doesn’t feel lucky at all. Not even one fucking bit.
He knows he’s being dramatic; that he’s simply trying to make a big deal out of something small. But then again if you combine all those small things into one, it does add up to become something big, and Taehyung just can’t help but complain.
He ended up going to Jeju with Jimin, after all.
He initially didn’t want to go anymore and had plans on telling Jeongguk that Jimin and all their other friends were too busy to come so he could just stay home or even pick up a few more babysitting hours while Jeongguk was busy at the conference, but when the alpha got back from work, exhausted and dead on his feet, and looking like the guilt for cancelling on their honeymoon was going to eat him up inside, Taehyung decided to go through with it and even pretended to be excited to make Jeongguk feel better— which worked. (Taehyung was even rewarded with a soul-snatching rimming that night as proof.)
However, on the day of Taehyung’s flight, he woke up feeling anxious for some reason. Perhaps it’s because he and Jeongguk won’t be seeing each other for days after getting their mating marks, perhaps it’s something else, but it didn’t feel right to leave.
Still, Taehyung wore a facade that morning as he accompanied Jeongguk in the kitchen to ease the alpha’s mind. Gave him a ton of kisses that’ll last him for all the days (and more) when they’ll be apart and only crumbled once the alpha’s car was out of sight.
Taehyung always liked to think that he was independent. Even though he grew up with a lot of butlers and maids running after him at home, bodyguards hovering close, and his father overseeing everything, the omega had a knack of doing things in his own way without needing anyone’s help and had often sneaked out into their vast backyard garden to get some alone time, which got him scolded heavily, but that didn’t really stop him from doing it again. He was a wild flower that grew on his own anywhere he pleased, that hardly needed supervision despite everyone around him wanting to keep him in place and pluck out his vines.
But when Jeongguk came into the picture, it’s like he completely shifted into another person. It’s like he can’t possibly be without the alpha closeby. It’s like Taehyung can’t be just Taehyung anymore, too. Jeongguk never tried to control him. He did try to make sure that his vines and roots didn’t stray too far in dangerous territory, but Jeongguk never really forced him to do something unless he had to.
Taehyung was a wildflower and Jeongguk was the sunshine that made him grow.
And now that he’s far away from his source of sun, he can’t help but feel a little withered without him. And sure, he suspects that their new mating mark plays a role, but there’s just something about living without Jeongguk that doesn’t feel right. Like he not only took the sun from him, but all the luck as well.
When he and Jimin left, the skies in Seoul were blue and gray, which hardly surprised Taehyung since Jeongguk wasn’t there to make those clouds go away, and by the time Yoongi dropped the two of them off at the airport, it was pouring and caused their flight to be delayed by three whole hours.
By the time they reached Jeju, the rain had gotten better but the beach was in no shape or form to be enjoyed since the sand was wet and disgusting in his feet. All the nearby shops were closed, and the AC unit was acting up, causing Taehyung’s patience to wear thin.
Still, he tried to be more positive and manifested some luck to come his way. Tried not to think about their circumstances and forced Jimin out of their hotel room to grab something to eat in a farther away town.
When they got there, the streets were packed with wolves left and right since it was the only area open. They had to wait to get a table at this restaurant Taehyung has been eyeing on for months since they served some really good lobster. But by the time they were seated and ready to order, all their lobsters— and all their seafood in general were out. The only thing they had available was a bowl of ramen that they could have easily whipped up in their hotel room with their electric kettle.
And to make matters worse, it started pouring heavily again by the time they were ready to go home and it took them a long time to catch a taxi to take them back to their place. The driver didn’t seem too keen on taking them there too since it was too far away and charged them extra.
It was when they reached their hotel room, wet and tired, and 20,000 won scammed, that Taehyung realized that maybe he isn’t really lucky as he thought he was. That perhaps Jeongguk was his lucky charm, after all.
And he doesn’t really mean to rant or to reactivate his mate’s guilt yet again for missing their supposed trip together, but sue him. He only really got to be vulnerable around Jeongguk and his husband has been an expert in making him feel better. Plus he knows Jeongguk would appreciate it better if he were honest with him too, regardless if it’s good news or not.
“Gukkie.” the omega whines into the phone as he lays down on his hotel bed and curls himself into a ball. “I’m having the worst honeymoon in the entire world!”
He hears Jimin scoff from the bed next to his as his fellow omega flicked through the channels on the television, while Jeongguk sighs on the other line.
“Was it raining there all day too?” the alpha asks on the phone.
“It stopped for some time, but came back just when me and Mimi had to go back,” Taehyung says, dressed in a bathrobe with a pout on his lips as he hugs a pillow dressed in his husband’s hoodie close to his chest. “Plus our AC unit is still fucked, and we can’t even open the window since it’s pouring outside! I even forgot to take my bath bombs with me, so I can’t relax in the bath tub like I planned!”
“And we’re all out of hot water, too.” Jimin adds nonchalantly as throws a cheeseball into his mouth, causing Taehyung to whine.
“Did you hear that?!” Taehyung exclaims, sitting up from bed and ruffling his hair. “We’re out of fucking hot water too!”
Taehyung can’t help but cry, slumping down in bed and burrowing his face in the cotton infused pillow, pretending it’s his husband. Unable to help but be overly dramatic about the entire situation.
Honestly, it wouldn’t even be half-bad if Jeongguk were around— and it’s not that he doesn’t enjoy his best friend’s company because Jimin has been trying to lighten the mood since they arrived at the airport in Seoul, it’s just that… he misses Jeongguk so much and with all these miles apart, he can’t really feel the full capacity of their bond through their mating mark, plus all this distress he’s feeling isn’t helping at all either.
Jeongguk hums on the other line in a gentle tone, obviously saddened by how things are going. “I’m really sorry, Baby,” he says. “I know this isn’t how you expected our honeymoon to go. I wish I didn’t–”
“No, no. Stop right there, Bun.” Taehyung sighs, laying on his back as he looks up at the ceiling. “This isn’t your fault, okay? I wanted you to stay and show everyone in the medical field that you’re the best ER nurse in the entire universe, alright? So don’t apologize.”
“Yeah, I know, I know, it’s just—”
“No.” Taehyung interrupts in a firm tone. “Stop it, Bunbun. I don’t want to hear it.”
Jeongguk sighs on the other line. “I just wish there was some way I could make it better, though.” he mutters. “I know it isn’t my fault, okay? I do. It’s just— you deserve better.”
“Bun—” Taehyung frowns. “You are better.”
“I know, Baby, but sometimes… I just wish I could give you the life you were used to. That’s all.” he replies in a solemn tone.
Taehyung feels his heart tighten with so much love and fondness for his mate. “No, it’s not,” he replies. “But you gave me something so much better, Bun. I’d give up everything again if it means I get to have you.”
“But—”
“Gukkie.” Taehyung pouts. “Stop. Please? Now I’m feeling guilty for making you feel guilty and I didn’t even want you to be guilty in the first place, I just— I guess I just really miss you and I’ve just been so unlucky since we were separated. That’s all.”
“That’s not the Kim Taehyung I know.” Jeongguk says in a more lighter and optimistic tone. “What happened to that wolf who decided to make his own luck from here on out?”
Taehyung scoffs. “Kim Taehyung is dead,” he says flatly. “It’s Jeon Taehyung now. And it’s not like I haven’t been trying to turn things around, it’s just— it’s not working like I hoped it would. I guess all that luck farming works when you’re around, Gukkie.”
“That’s not true.” Jeongguk clicks his tongue at him. “You’ve been lucky way before you met me.”
“It’s not the same luck we have now, though,” the omega says. “I’ve felt nothing but invincible after you came into the picture.”
Jimin, who had been watching some random dating show on the television, snorts. “Huge understatement.” he mutters. Taehyung throws a pillow in his direction.
“You still are, Baby.” the alpha tells him encouragingly. “You just gotta manifest it some more until you make it happen. I know you have it in you.”
Taehyung sighs. “It’ll work better if you’re here.” he mutters.
“Nah. It works cause you make it work, Tae.” Jeongguk replies. “Believe it.”
“You don’t even believe in luck, Gukkie,” the omega says. Though, he does feel infinitely better after hearing what his husband has to say.
“I don’t.” Jeongguk agrees with a chuckle. “But I believe in you, though.”
God, Taehyung thinks. Okay, maybe he is lucky then. Jeongguk certainly always makes him feel that way.
“I wish you were here so I could suck your cock.” Taehyung says bluntly, smiling wide into his phone as he lays on his tummy and hugs a pillow close.
He hears Jimin click his tongue. “I’m right here!” The other omega complains with a frown as he throws a piece of chip in Taehyung’s direction. “Can you not sext while I’m just in the next bed?”
Taehyung scowls at his best friend. “Consider it payback for all the times you and Yoongi hyung did it unabashedly while I was pretending to sleep in the next bed back in our dorm.” he counters back, throwing the chip back in Jimin’s direction.
Jimin scoffs. “At least we were subtle about it.” the omega mutters, shaking his head.
“Yeah. You were real subtle, Minnie.” Taehyung deadpans, hearing Jeongguk laugh on the other line. “I could hardly hear you ask Yoongi hyung to spank you numerous times.”
“I’ll spank you if you don’t shut up.” Jimin grumbles with pink cheeks.
Taehyung snickers. “Jeongguk can spank me if he wants.” he says in a suggestive tone, hearing Jeongguk snort on the other line and Jimin groan.
“Let’s reserve all the spanking for later, Baby,” the alpha says. “For now, you have some manifesting to do, so you could turn your day around tomorrow. Okay?”
“I suppose you’re right.” Taehyung sighs as he checks the time on his phone and finds that it’s a little past ten already. “Anyway, I should let you go, Bun. I know you leave early tomorrow.”
Jeongguk hums at him before Taehyung hears the alpha yawn. “Yeah, but can you stay on the phone, though?” he asks in a sleepy tone. “The bed doesn’t feel right without you.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll take care of you.” Taehyung smiles, the bond on his neck tingling with an overwhelming feeling of love as he listens to Jeongguk sigh. “I love you, Bun. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight, Baby.” Jeongguk replies. “Love you too. Try to farm some of that luck while I’m here.”
Taehyung grins. “I will,” he says, staying on the phone as he lies down and listens to his husband’s breathing slowly turn even until it eventually transforms into the loud snores he has grown accustomed to the past few months..
He snickers as he leaves his phone on loudspeaker, and places his phone on the bedside table. The alpha’s snores blasting in the room, causing Jimin to look at him with eyebrows scrunched.
“How do you manage to sleep with that?” he asks him, watching Taehyung stand from the bed and head towards his luggage to grab his toiletries bag and do his nightly routine.
“The power of love,” Taehyung replies as he grabs his bag and heads inside the bathroom. “And some earplugs at the start, but trust me, you’ll get used to it.”
Jimin snorts as Taehyung closes the door behind him and starts to strip to take a shower, easily adjusting to the water’s cold temperature and using the time to manifest a good day as he lathers some cotton scented bodywash on his body and tries not to wince when the water’s temperature would fluctuate from time to time the longer he stays under the shower.
By the time he’s stepping out the bathroom, skin care on his face and dressed in his silk pajamas, he finds Jimin in the exact same place he left him with his eyes focused on the television. His phone is also silent, but after a second, he hears another round of Jeongguk’s raucous snores.
“So, what are our plans tomorrow, Taetae?” Jimin asks, scurrying to the side to make some space for the other, instantly wrapping an arm around Taehyung’s waist and pulling him close.
Taehyung sighs as he hugs his best friend back. “Dunno.” he mutters. “I actually didn’t plan on doing anything besides having lots of sex.”
Jimin grimaces. “Sorry, I’m happily mated already.”
Taehyung rolls his eyes.
“But seriously, though, anything in mind that you want to do?”
“It depends on the weather, I suppose,” Taehyung replies defeatedly. “If it rains tomorrow, I don’t really want to leave the hotel. We can just stay here and eat convenience store food all day just like old times.”
“It has been a while since he had something unhealthy together,” Jimin agrees with a laugh. “God. Remember when we used to live off of ramen for weeks?”
“Don’t remind me.” Taehyung grimaces. “It takes skill to differentiate the difference between all the top brands, and I just so happen to have that skill. Shin ramen is still the best.”
“Agreed.” Jimin nods. “But what if it doesn’t rain? What then?”
“I guess we see where the road takes us.” Taehyung shrugs at him non-committedly. “We could have some lunch out and go window shopping. I also need to get some bath bombs so I can turn this sad sad sad honeymoon around.”
“Hey, c’mon now. What’s with the attitude?” Jimin knocks him playfully. “Whatever happened to the world is your oyster and all those things you said after mating Jeongguk-ah?”
Taehyung sighs, a pout appearing on his lips as the reminder of Jeongguk being there enters his mind. “At this point, I’m starting to believe more in the saying life is a bowl of soup and I’m a fork.”
Jimin snorts. “Tomorrow is a new day.” he says encouragingly, squeezing his hip playfully and causing Taehyung to shriek and hit him on the elbow. “Just work your magic, and who knows? Maybe things will start picking up.”
“Yeah. I hope it does.” Taehyung mutters. Though, he is trying to perk himself up so he could be more excited about what the new day awaits. Forcing himself to be more positive and attract all the good luck he needs to make his trip more memorable.
“I know it will.” Jimin smiles at him. “It always does for you. Trust me.”
That manages to crack a smile out of Taehyung.
Besides Jeongguk, Jimin is truly the only one who knows all about the things he had to deal with back when he was still under his father’s care, since his best friend was one of the few people who got his father’s stamp of approval of being his friend. Jimin was there when Taehyung had to sit still and hold his tongue, held his hand under the table, and quietly shot him some concerned looks whenever his father scolded him. He was there to cover for him when he and Jeongguk sneaked out to go on dates. He was there as a witness to the best day of his life, so if there was anyone else whose support means a lot, it was Jimin.
“Thanks, Minnie.” he replies, a yawn escaping his lips as he gets cozy around Jimin’s tight embrace. “I guess I should stop being dramatic and work my magic.”
“You? Stop being dramatic?” Jimin teases, causing Taehyung to roll his eyes. “That’s a stretch.”
“Well, it is my trademark, after all.” he smiles, eyes closing as another round of Jeongguk’s snores fill the room.

Taehyung is on a mission to turn his day into a lucky one.
He doesn’t know how. He still doesn’t have any plans on what his day is going to look like. And yes, it’s past noon and he’s still dressed in his pajamas, plus Jimin is nowhere in his sight— However, Jeon Taehyung is determined to catch lady luck’s eyes and make this day a memorable one, or he’ll die (or cry) trying.
Thankfully, the weather has decided to take pity on him and has allowed the sun to shine outside his window and with hardly any dark clouds in sight. An indication that things are, at least, starting to look up and that his luck is starting to change, and although Taehyung is not really in the mood to go out today and wants nothing more but to stay in bed and hug his cotton-infused pillow close to his chest, he was able to drag himself out of bed and get ready due to one rather encouraging text message from his mate that went like:
Bunbun ❣
…Hi?
Haha
Good morning, Baby! 😘
I know yesterday was not so nice but I know today will be so much better.
You’re JEON Taehyung after all!
If there’s one thing I know about him, it’s that he has his ways of making things go HIS way and not the other way around. (Trust me. I have experience.)
I love you! Fighting!
BTW, today is going to be busy so I might not be able to check my phone all morning until late noon. 😣 but I’ll try to check in tho…
I’m sorry. I’ll make it up to you soon 🥺
I love you so much. I miss you.
also…
Please behave.
The last part of the alpha’s message had Taehyung scoffing at his phone, yet the smile that managed to break through his lips didn’t dim down for even one bit.
In fact, it stayed in place from the time he climbed out of bed, did his morning— or in this case, his 1PM routine, put on a white knitted sleeveless top partnered with some loose jeans and heeled boots. Some sunglasses perched on top of his head, and finally, his signature Chanel bag locked and loaded, and ready to take on whatever it is that life will throw at him.
Or almost ready, rather, since Jimin is still nowhere to be seen and is not picking up Taehyung’s calls.
Taehyung sighs impatiently as he dials Jimin’s phone yet again, his hip cocked to the side and a hand perched on top of it as he taps his foot. Groaning when the call ends without Jimin picking up.
“Where in Luna’s realm are you, Minnie?” he grumbles, dialing the omega’s number yet again and heading towards the dresser to put some lip gloss on. He’s admittedly beginning to worry and has half a mind to go out and look for the omega himself since it’s unlikely for Jimin to disappear out of nowhere without leaving him a note.
But just as he was putting his Chanel bag through his arm on and is on his way out the room, the door suddenly bursts open and he finds Jimin slinking in the room.
Taehyung clears his throat at him, causing Jimin to jump in surprise when he finds himself face to face with Taehyung.
“Holy shit, Taehyung!” he exclaims. “Were you standing there the entire time?”
Taehyung scowls at him and rolls his eyes. “I have been trying to call you all morning.” he starts. “Where have you been? And why were you sneaking in the room?”
Jimin rolls his eyes back at him. “I wasn’t trying to sneak inside the room. I was only trying to be polite because I thought you were still sleeping.” he explains.
“It’s one o’clock.”
“Don’t act like you’ve never woken up at past four in the afternoon back in university days.”
“We graduated a year ago, Minnie.”
“University, yeah.” Jimin chuckles, heading inside the room as he studies Taehyung’s outfit from top to bottom. “Sleeping in, though? Unlikely.”
Taehyung merely snorts at him.
“Anyway, where are you going?” Jimin asks. “Why are you all dressed up?”
“Well, why not?” Taehyung replies. “Do I need a reason to look nice?”
“Boots at the beach? Really?” Jimin snorts, shaking his head as he slumps back on the bed with a tired yawn.
Taehyung rolls his eyes. “We’re not going to the beach, genius.” he replies. “We’re—”
He trails off, not knowing what to say since he still hasn’t thought about how their day’s agenda is going to go just yet.
Jimin seems to know since the elder chuckles at him as he fishes his phone out of his pockets and begins to scroll through it mindlessly. “See?” he says. “You don’t even know where we’re going.”
Taehyung clicks his tongue at him. “Well, I would have figured it out if you didn’t worry the hell out of me by not answering my calls,” he retorts. “Where the hell were you anyway?”
“I went down to talk to the front desk and complained about our AC,” he says. “They were trying to see if they can book us another room or something so we can transfer later.”
“And?” Taehyung asks. “Are we moving rooms?”
“They didn’t give an answer yet.” Jimin shrugs. “I guess we’ll find out later.”
Taehyung sighs. “Fine. I guess we’ll see how our luck goes,” he says, before he pats Jimin’s thighs and pushes him to sit up. “For now, get dressed. We’re going out, bitch.”
Jimin rolls his eyes but he does get up from bed nonetheless and starts to make his way towards his suitcase to get a change of clothes. “Do we have to?” he whines. “It’s not like there’s anything to do besides eat. Plus the beach is so crowded today.”
“Yes.” Taehyung says in a firm tone.
“We don’t even know where we’re going!” Jimin grumbles with a shake of his head as he walks to the bathroom to get ready with some clothes in hand.
“I’m working on it, okay?” Taehyung clicks his tongue, sitting down on the bed and fishing his phone out his pocket. “Just get ready and I’ll take care of everything.”
He hears Jimin say something under his breath which he doesn’t get to hear, too focused on pulling up a list of places near the area where he and Jimin could go to. He’s not really the type to make plans. Jeongguk always called him out for being a little too happy-go-lucky with a severe case of the lucky boy syndrome, and had relied on fate to plan his day for him.
It’s true. Somewhat, at least. Jeongguk was always the one who planned things ahead for them, but since the alpha is not here, Taehyung supposes that it’d be a good idea to follow Jeongguk’s lead on this so they could get somewhere and hope all their cards fall into place.
“Are you craving anything in particular?” Taehyung calls out, scrolling through a list of cafes and restaurants with good reviews.
“Not really,” Jimin says. “Just pick anything. I’m not a picky eater like you anyway.”
Taehyung scowls. “I’m not a picky eater. I’m just— allergic to a lot of things. That’s all,” he says. He hears Jimin snort from the bathroom. “There’s this cafe nearby. I see a lot of good reviews. Do you want to get some coffee there?”
“What’s the place called?” the omega asks.
“Deja Brew.” Taehyung chuckles at the name. “They even have some freshly baked goods available too, if you want to grab some bread rolls for lunch.”
“I’m not feeling bread for lunch today.” Jimin says from the bathroom counter as he wipes his face with a towel and checks his phone. “But I could use some coffee, though.”
“That’s why I asked if you wanted something in particular.” Taehyung scoffs, saving the cafe’s address on his note app and looking for some restaurants next. “So let me ask you again, Jimin, what do you want to eat?”
“Anything with meat on the menu,” the other replies. “But not barbecue. I’m too lazy to cook and you’ll just end up burning the meat.”
The corner of Taehyung’s lips twitches, but he chooses not to argue as he looks through the options on his phone. “There’s a restaurant a couple miles away with an amazing view,” he suggests. “Do you want some smash burgers?”
“Anything with rice?”
“Jimin.” Taehyung sighs impatiently, looking at his best friend with an unimpressed look on his face, his strawberry scent beginning to sour. “Do I have to ask you again or are you going to make me guess the entire time?”
“Calm down, Mother.” Jimin snorts as he changes his clothes. “No need to get mad.”
“Well you’re making it difficult not to get mad.” Taehyung frowns. “Just tell me what you want to eat.”
“I want some good ole’ traditional Korean food with Kimchi and rice on the side, and some meat.”
“Anything else?” Taehyung sighs impatiently as he shakes his head and looks for Korean restaurants in the area.
“No. That’s it.”
“You sure?”
“Yes. I’m sure.” Jimin says in a tired voice as he steps out the bathroom, all fresh and ready with some pants and a long sleeved shirt on. “Can we go now?”
Taehyung turns to look at him after he saves his search, clicking his tongue as he gets a good look at the omega’s attire. “Didn’t you iron your shirt, Minnie?” he asks, standing up and approaching him with a shake of his head. “And please brush your hair. You’re embarrassing me.”
“For what?” Jimin raises an eyebrow at him. “We’re only getting food.”
“That’s not the point.” Taehyung sighs, throwing a handbrush at Jimin’s direction and heading towards his suitcase. “We should always look our best. Not for others, but for ourselves.”
Jimin scoffs as he brushes his hair. “I’ll live with a few wrinkles on my shirt, Tae,” he says. “And besides, it’s not like I packed an iron with—”
Jimin trails off as he pauses from brushing his hair, his jaw hanging agape and eyebrows furrowing as he watches Taehyung whip out a portable steam iron out of his luggage.
“Here.” Taehyung says, gesturing for him to take his shirt off. “Let me fix that for you.”
“Luna.” Jimin mutters, taking his shirt off and handing it over to Taehyung’s outstretched hand. “No wonder your luggage went over the handcarry weight limit.”
“You can never be too prepared,” Taehyung says as he works on steaming his best friend’s shirt. “Especially if you’re travelling with pups.”
“I’m not a pup.” Jimin rolls his eyes at him.
Taehyung giggles. “You could have fooled me.”
Jimin scowls, sitting down on an armchair and scrolling through his phone as Taehyung continues to work on his shirt.
“There!” Taehyung smiles as he finishes steaming Jimin’s shirt and hands it over to him. “That looks way better.”
“Thanks.” Jimin mutters as he puts it on and grabs his messenger bag from the table. “Can we go now? Did I pass the inspection or what?”
Taehyung hums as he wears his purse over his shoulder and puts his sunglasses on.
“Wait.” he says, before he licks his thumb and proceeds to wipe something on Jimin’s cheeks, causing the latter to groan and push him away.
“—Tae!” he whines.
“Now you pass the inspection.” Taehyung nods with a content smile. “We can go now.”
Jimin merely shakes his head as he follows him out the door. “You’re acting like my mom.” he grumbles.
Taehyung merely smiles as he leads the way out the door. Liking the title a little too much if he’s being honest.
“Well, I’m your mother now,” he says. Jimin scoffs. “So stick close and don’t get yourself lost, darling. Okay?”
“I’d rather get myself lost than deal with all this.” he hears the omega grumble under his breath.
“I heard that.” Taehyung scolds.
“Good.” Jimin says as the two of them step inside the elevator and head out. “You’re supposed to.”
“That’s not how you talk to your mother.”
Jimin groans.
.
.
.
Taehyung attempts to swallow the groan that’s threatening to escape his lips the moment he catches sight of the long line at the cafe that he and Jimin went to. (He fails, but hey, at least he tried.)
In retrospect, he really should have expected it considering all the good reviews he read online and the fact that the cafe is in the midst of a popular tourist spot. However, he was kind of hoping that the line wasn’t too bad since it’s past noon already and he wanted to test his luck out and see if anything had changed. (It hasn’t, but here’s hoping.)
Taehyung sighs for the nth time as he stands and waits in line, his foot tapping a certain beat and his arms crossed, his eyes lingering around the room as an attempt to entertain himself since Jimin has been so busy on his phone texting Yoongi.
He checks his phone as he waits, pouting when he finds that Jeongguk hasn’t sent him a text message yet.
It’s kind of funny how a bond can completely change you, the omega thinks to himself as he composes a text message for Jeongguk.
If you told Taehyung before that he’d be craving a certain alpha’s attention and would be upset if he didn’t receive it, he’d point and laugh at your face. But then again, it is his reality now.
And the string of clingy text messages he just sent the alpha is proof of it.
Me:
Do you hate me?
Is this your way of splitting up with me?
Sending me away to Jeju so you can escape?
Why won’t you talk to me, Bun
Bun
Baby
Alpha
Gukkie….
:(
He hears the sound of Jimin snorting beside him, causing Taehyung to look at him and roll his eyes as he pockets his phone.
“He just said that he’s going to be busy the whole day,” Jimin says, not looking up from his phone as he types a text. “Can you relax? Jeongguk is not leaving you.”
“I know he did,” Taehyung replies as he crosses his arms. “It’s just— we never went this long not talking to each other.”
“You spoke last night and it’s only been four hours since you woke up, Taehyung.”
“It’s still the longest, Jimin.” Taehyung pouts, scoffing when Jimin’s phone lights up with another text while his phone stays dead inside his pocket. “God forbid I miss my mate.”
“I’m sure Jeongguk-ah misses you too, Tae.” Jimin squeezes his shoulder reassuringly. “He’s probably at that conference thing right now feeling restless in front of all those doctors and medical experts.”
“Gukkie is a professional, though,” Taehyung says, immediately feeling warm at the thought of his husband demonstrating what he does best (well, second best— he’s an even better mate in his opinion) in front of everyone else. “He was always nervous before his presentations back in college, but every time he steps foot on the stage— god .”
“I get it. You’re freaking in love with the guy.” Jimin snorts.
“I know.” Taehyung sighs. “And it freaking sucks that he isn’t here.”
“Well, just make the most out of the day,” the other encourages. “Jeongguk did tell you to do that last night, right?”
“It isn’t the same without him.” he whines. “He’s my lucky charm, Minnie.”
“That’s not the Kim Taehyung I know.” Jimin says.
“That’s ‘cause I’m Jeon Taehyung now.”
“Just because you re-branded, doesn’t mean that the old you isn’t there anymore too,” Jimin says in a reassuring tone. “You’re still you— upgraded, yes, but somewhat still the same, which isn’t a bad thing.”
“I know, I know.” Taehyung sighs. “I just— god. I guess the new bond is making me clingy. That’s all.”
Jimin grins. “Yeah, I know what you mean.” he agrees. “Yoongi has been whining since we left.”
“Tell him I saw a fruit stand outside the resort with fresh tangerines.”
The smile on Jimin’s lips slips. “Don’t even think about it, Taehyung.” he warns. “I’ve been trying to limit his tangerine intake for a while now. He’s fucking obsessed with those.”
Taehyung laughs, remembering the first time he gave the elder alpha one of the tangerines he usually takes with him to class and witnessing how the course of Yoongi’s life shifted at his first bite.
‘Where did you get this?’ Yoongi had asked in his usual monotone. Though, Taehyung could tell that Yoongi was very interested in getting more.
‘We have a couple of trees back in our mansion,’ he explained. ‘They usually send me a box or two every month, since it's a good source of vitamins. Do you want more, hyungie?’
Yoongi simply nodded, and since then, they’ve shared the fruit between classes since they both took up early education, and it has been their form of bonding to this day.
Though, Taehyung uses it more these days to coerce the alpha into helping him with his schemes.
He makes a mental note to place an order so he could take some home for his hyung— preferably behind Jimin’s back.
“Next!” the barista calls out from the front, causing the line to move.
As they were taking a step forward, a pup suddenly bumps into an alpha woman in front of them, causing the alpha to scoff impatiently and frown at the younger one.
“Watch where you’re going, kid.” she grumbles with a shake of her head as she takes a step forward.
“Sorry!” the pup calls out as they run into the direction of who Taehyung presumes as his parents.
Taehyung can’t help but lean close to Jimin. “What crawled up her ass?”
Jimin clicks his tongue at him. “Taehyung, please,” he warns. “Not today.”
“Just asking.” he mutters with a snort as he goes to watch the pup run up to his parents and hug them around their torsos with a soft giggle.
Taehyung finds himself smiling.
He has always wanted pups of his own. Since he grew up as an only child, he has always wondered what it would be like to have siblings around who could play with him when others would refuse and be his default best friend. Growing up, Taehyung has been mostly a lonely pup, with no one but their butlers and maids and all his devices and books and imagination to keep him company and entertained.
When he grew a little older and had witnessed families spending their time together in parks or school events, it had been a subconscious desire for him to have that for himself— a big family with at least four pups to keep the chaos running in a household full of laughter and love.
And now that Jeongguk is here, maybe— just maybe, he could have that for himself. For themselves.
He wishes.
Me:
Do you want pups?
Not right now of course
But in the future?
Jeongguk doesn’t reply as expected, but he senses the thrum of their bond spike excitedly, indicating that the alpha must have taken a peek at it from his notifications or something.
But to his surprise, he sees Jeongguk compose a text and send it, making Taehyung’s heart leap from his chest as he reads.
Bunbun ❣
I want everything with you, Tae.
I’d be honored to have pups with you if you want them.
Me:
It only took talking about pups to get you to answer?
Bunbun ❣
Can you blame me?
Taehyung giggles, his cheeks burning as he sends a text.
Me:
You’re right. I can’t. Lol
But yeah…
I want to be the mother of your pups in the future too, Gukkie
Just so you know
Bunbun ❣
You’re making it so hard for me to hold back from coming there, Baby
Me:
Good.
I want you here anyway
Bunbun ❣
Stop.
Cause I might.
Me:
Don’t let me stop you, Alpha
🥰
Bunbun ❣
Baby….
“Next!”
Taehyung looks up with a huge grin on his face as the line finally moves, leaving two more people in front of them including the irate alpha woman. Locking and pocketing his phone to keep his husband on edge.
“You seem happy.” Jimin raises an eyebrow at him. “Did Jeongguk finally text back?”
“Oh yes, he did.” Taehyung grins as they take a few steps forward, nearly reaching the front of line with just two people before them. “This honeymoon might not have been what I expected, but I think things will turn once we—”
Taehyung trails off when another pup suddenly comes out of nowhere and accidentally barges into the irate alpha in front of them, causing the pup to fall on his butt and the alpha to groan at him annoyedly.
“Seriously?” the woman scoffs. “What is this place? The fucking zoo?”
Taehyung scowls at her as he and Jimin help the poor pup up his feet.
“Hey, watch your language,” he chides her pointedly. “This may not be a zoo but this isn’t some R-rated strip bar where pups aren’t allowed.”
“And this isn’t a playground where pups should run around either.” she counters back with a hiss. “So zip it, omega. You don’t know any better.”
Taehyung fumes, and he could sense Jimin holding onto his arm to stop him from making any sudden moves.
As a wolf with no pups of his own yet, Taehyung could understand how annoying it is to be in a place packed with rambunctious pups— who hardly know the concept of inside voices or respecting personal spaces, and all that stuff. He gets it. He’d be lying if he said that he has never lost his patience with a screaming kid in a public place at least once before.
However, as a wolf with an education degree that specializes in pups’ early development, he also understands the need for pups to be out and about so they could work on their socializing skills more. Yes, parents should watch them closely and supervise them when they’re on their own, but then again, it’s important to teach them how to be independent too.
“My apologies.” Taehyung snarks back. “I thought my degree in early ed and special development earned my opinion on the matter since you clearly don’t know what it’s like to have kids of your own— which isn’t a surprise, by the way.”
“Taehyung.” Jimin hisses in his ear. “Not here.”
The alpha woman merely rolls his eyes at him as she’s finally called to the counter next and lists off a long order to the beta working the counter.
Taehyung also rolls his eyes at her. “The lion, the witch, and the audacity of this b—”
“Tae.” Jimin sighs.
Taehyung merely snorts before he turns his attention to the pup who had been holding on to the hem of his shirt with his head bowed low and eyes filling with unshed tears.
“There, there,” he says in a gentle tone, cooing as he watches the pup– an alpha pup wipe his eyes with a fist. “Hey, no need for all those tears, darling. You’re fine. It was an accident. I’m sure you didn’t mean to hit the old lady. Right?”
He hears the alpha scoff indignantly as the barista enters her order into the register. Taehyung merely smirks to himself.
“No, I– I didn’t.” the pup mumbles with a pout. “I lost my glasses, so I couldn’t see well and I was trying to look for my eomma because she has my spare one.”
“What does your mom look like, darling?” he asks, standing up to get a good look around the cafe.
“Pretty.” the younger one mumbles. “Like you.”
Taehyung smiles at him. “Ah. There are way too many pretty wolves around here, though,” he says in a gentle tone. “Do you remember what she was wearing?”
“She was wearing a blue dress.” the pup says, looking around with him with squinted eyes. “She’s somewhere here but I can’t find her.”
Taehyung nods at the pup before he offers his hand so they could look for his mom together. “I see,” he says. “Wanna go look for her together?”
“Please?” The pup begs with puppy dog eyes, causing Taehyung to chuckle.
“Sure, let’s go.” he says, walking out the line and searching the cafe with him.
Deja Brew is not too big, but since the place is packed with wolves and their rowdy pups running around excitedly to check out the displays filled with baked goods and some souvenirs, it’s a bit hard to go around the place and check every wolf.
“I’m coming with you,” Jimin says, looking over his shoulder where the alpha woman is. “That alpha’s scent has been spiking since your stand off.”
“Want me to hold your hand too?” Taehyung teases as he leads the three of them out the line. “We don’t want you getting lost either.”
Jimin scoffs.
They spend a few minutes walking around the cafe in search of the pup’s mother, but they eventually find her later speaking to security outside the store.
“Yunseo!” she exclaims as the three of them step outside. “Oh my Luna. I was worried sick!”
“I’m sorry, Eomma.” The pup, Yunseo says as he hugs her around her legs with a pout. “I tried to look for you but there were too many people.”
“We found him at the counter,” Taehyung explains with a smile, catching their attention and causing the mother to bow at him gratefully. “He’s lucky I found him before someone else could.”
“Yes, yes. I know, and thank you so much,” she tells him hastily bowing repeatedly. “He was right next to me for one second and gone the next. I tried to look around but he was nowhere to be seen.”
“It’s totally fine.” Taehyung reassures her. “It takes a village to raise a pup, right? I was happy to help you in some way. I know it’s hard to go out with a pup by yourself.”
“Right, right.” she chuckles at him, rubbing her pup’s back affectionately. “Do you have kids too?”
“Just one angsty teen.” he gestures to Jimin with a teasing glint, causing Jimin to scowl.
“Ah, right. I have one of those too.” she replies. “It’s not a walk in the park either, especially before a rut or heat.”
Taehyung giggles. “You can say that again.” he mutters.
He senses Jimin push him from behind.
“Anyway, I’ll get going, then.” he bows and turns to the pup. “Don’t go running off without your eomma again, Yunseo. Okay?”
The pup nods at him shyly as he bows. “I won’t. Thank you again for helping me.” he mutters, before he and his mother go on their way hand in hand.
By the time the mother and son duo are out of his sight, he and Jimin return to the store and make their way to the very back of the line again.
“As commendable as your good deed is, now we have to wait another thirty minutes to get some coffee.” Jimin whines as he crosses his arms and releases a sigh.
“Well, you could have saved our spot and sucked it up with that alpha back there.” Taehyung snorts.
“Yeah right.” the other retorts. “She’s been permeating all kinds of pheromones because of you. I didn’t want to be casualty because of your penchant to pick fights.”
“In my defense, I don’t pick fights.” Taehyung protests. “They pick me, and I wasn’t just gonna stand there and do nothing, Minnie!”
“I know.” Jimin smiles. “Which is why I kinda love, and hate, you.”
Taehyung merely snorts at him before the two of them wait in line again for their turn for the next twenty more minutes.
By the time they finally reach the counter, under-caffinated and feet aching, the beta working the register smiles at them warmly. “Hi. Welcome to Deja Brew. What are you having today?”
“Hi.” Taehyung says with a smile, placing his purse on the counter and fishing his wallet out. “I’d like one large iced americano and a regular strawberry smoothie to go please.”
“Name for the cup?” the barista asks.
“Taehyung.” he replies.
“Taehyung.” The beta repeats with a nod as he writes Taehyung’s name down on the cup and enters his order into the register.
He was just pulling out his card from his wallet and was handing it over to the beta, when the latter suddenly waved it off with a bright smile.
“It’s all good, Taehyung-ssi.” he says. “On the house.”
Taehyung’s jaw drops in surprise. “Wait. Really?” he asks. “Why?”
“It’s your lucky day today.” the beta says, making Taehyung’s grin widen. “You’re our one millionth customer, so as a reward, your drinks are on us.”
“No kidding?” Taehyung squeals as he returns his card back in his wallet and turns to look at Jimin. “Did you hear that Minnie?”
“Yeah.” Jimin chuckles.
“I guess good deeds do pay off, after all!” Taehyung says in a bright tone as he and Jimin bow at the barista and head to the claiming counter together. “Who would have thought that I’d win something like that?”
“Yeah well, he did say that you’re one in a million or something like that.”
“He did.” Taehyung chuckles, still in disbelief. “God, I should buy a lottery ticket later!”
Jimin snorts as he shakes his head at him.
From the table nearby, he catches a glimpse of the alpha woman earlier looking away from them with a scorn on her face. Shaking her head at them as she mutters something under her breath.
“Two drinks for our lucky customer, Taehyung.” another omega barista calls out with a blinding smile on her face.
“That’s me!” Taehyung says with a laugh as he claims his drink. “Thank you again!”
“You’re welcome.” she beams. “You’re one lucky wolf, Taehyung-ssi.”
Taehyung merely shoots her a winning smile before he and Jimin leave the store together.
His strawberry smoothie has never tasted any sweeter.

Me:
Bun!
You will never believe my luck today!
I won a free drink at the cafe today!
Bunbun ❣
Really???
Wow. Congrats Baby!
See?
You didn’t need me to get your luck going after all 🙂
Me:
With or without luck, I still need you :(
Bunbun ❣
It’s not like I’m going anywhere.
I’m here to stay
The euphoric feeling doesn’t escape his chest as he and Jimin sit around a table at a restaurant a few minutes later; the two of them still hung up on what had happened back at the cafe.
And as luck would have had it, they arrived just as a group was leaving, making them secure a table immediately since there weren’t other people around, and were given a basket of breadsticks and a selection of dips for free since the restaurant was trying to do a food quality survey and wanted their customers’ opinion.
“I’m telling you, Minnie.” Taehyung says excitedly as the waiter leaves them with their free food. “I’m gonna buy a lottery ticket later and watch me win that shit.”
“Look. Just because you won a drink and some breadsticks, doesn’t mean you have to abuse your luck,” he says with a shake of his head. “We don’t want lady luck thinking you’re being cocky now.”
“I’m not!” Taehyung protests as he waves a breadstick around and looks at the menu on the table. “I’m just making the most of it! That’s all.”
“That’s taking advantage.” Jimin raises an eyebrow at him.
“It’s called being an opportunist, Jimin.” Taehyung smirks as he takes a bite of his breadsticks and chooses the dish to order.
They spend a few minutes going over every dish and end up choosing a few of their side dishes, galbi and their newest seafood item on their menu that the waiter recommended.
Taehyung stands, purse at hand, and excuses himself to go to the bathroom to freshen up, to which Jimin waves him off as he texts on his phone.
Although the restaurant is a small hole in the wall spot, it’s crowded with families and teenagers sharing tables, with booths on both sides and tables in the middle, causing him to slink through a few tight spaces with his quiet excuse me’s and making a few people do a double take at him. He even catches sight of a wolf slapping, who he presumes as his mate, when he finds him staring a little too long at Taehyung.
Taehyung laughs to himself as he finds the rest rooms. He’s not really a vain person per se, but he does know that he’s been blessed with good looks and an interesting sense of fashion, so he’s not really the type to shy away from attention. In fact, he likes it when people take the time to admire how hard he works on his appearance. Some people would say that it’s cocky of him, but Taehyung simply sees it as loving himself. Something he believes that everyone should do.
Kim Taehyung might not have shared the same sentiments, because the attention he received back then had an agenda hidden. But Jeon Taehyung on the other hand loves it a little too much because he knows it’s him who people are looking at. Not his status or reputation— him.
By the time he reaches the omegas’ room, he finds a group of teenagers by the mirror fixing their hair and makeup in the mirror. He smiles at them when he catches them staring at him in awe, before he checks the mirror himself and fishes his lipgloss out his Chanel bag.
“I love your outfit, sir.” one of the omega girls compliments him as they meet each other’s eyes in the mirror.
“Thanks, darling.” Taehyung smiles at her as he puckers his lips and glosses them. “I’m obsessed with your curls. How do you maintain the volume?”
The highschooler perks up at that and goes into a tangent to explain her hair care routine in full detail, clearly happy to have won his approval.
Taehyung listens with his full attention as he continues to fix himself in the mirror, humming and asking a couple of questions at all the right places, and even taking some mental notes of his own.
“— the secret is a hair diffuser,” she says with a grin. “And some hair cream. They always go hand in hand.”
“Duly noted, diva.” Taehyung replies with a nod as he places his lipgloss and comb back in his purse. “I’ll try them out the next time I experiment with my hair.”
“I’m sure you’ll look prettier!” another omega girl tells him. “I already like your hair, but I see the vision with some curls.”
“Do you have instagram?” he asks them politely. “I can post a selfie if I end up trying it.”
“Yes!” the squeal before they hand out their instagram handles, where Taehyung goes and follows them back.
“Wait—” one of the male omegas says as he looks at Taehyung’s instagram with wide eyes. “You’re Kim Taehyung. That chaebol heir whose family owns Kim Publishing. Right?”
Taehyung stifles a wince, but he tries to keep his composure as he nods at the young wolf in confirmation. Even though his father has disowned him, it hasn’t really made public news yet since it would give their family a bad reputation, so this isn’t the first time he’s recognized as his father’s son.
“The one and only I suppose.” he mutters. “Though, I do go by Jeon Taehyung now. I just got married to the love of my life.”
There’s a chorus of ‘awws’ echoing in the rest room, causing Taehyung to snort at them fondly.
“Congratulations, Queen!”
“No wonder you’re absolutely glowing!”
“Is that the secret to being cool?”
Taehyung laughs at them as he closes his purse and flicks his bangs. “Yes, actually,” he tells them in a serious tone. “My husband is the sweetest and the most supportive wolf I’ve ever met. If you ever find someone who loves you for you — keep them. It’s all you’ll ever need to feel beautiful and unstoppable.”
The highschoolers nod at him seriously, taking in every word as if it were written in the scriptures.
“Anyway,” he says. “I’m just gonna go to the loo for a quick second. I’ll be right back, queens.”
“Sure!” they reply before they start talking amongst themselves excitedly as they fix their appearance on the mirror.
As Taehyung was turning around to go to one of the empty stalls, another high school girl enters the bathroom and perks up when he sees the group that Taehyung was just speaking with.
“Hi guys!” she says in a friendly tone. “Nice to see you here.”
“Oh. Hi Eunchae,” Taehyung hears one of them say in a not-so enthusiastic tone as he closes the stall door behind them. Unable to help but eavesdrop on the highschoolers’ attention.
“Are you guys here with your parents?” the girl, Eunchae, asks.
“Nope.” Another tells her. “It’s just us today. We’re too old to have our parents supervise us.”
“Oh.” Eunchae says, sounding slightly self conscious. “I’m here with my dad.”
“Oh. That’s cute.” someone else replies non-committedly before the group goes back to talking amongst themselves and leaving the poor girl out.
Taehyung resists the urge to snort as he relives himself. Remembering his time in high school where it was typically all about fitting in and being cool. He could tell that Eunchae wasn’t really a part of their group, but wanted to, considering how friendly she’s been trying to act with them but it’s clear that the group doesn’t feel the same.
He hears the stall next to his click open and close, indicating that Eunchae took it, followed by the sound of the highschoolers whispering among themselves quietly. Most likely talking about the outcast omega.
Taehyung can’t help but feel bad for her as he remembers his time back in school, where also tried to fit in and become one of the cool kids, only to be shunned and laughed at for being too much— to himself, which he thinks is complete bullshit now. But of course, high school kids won’t think so. Not yet, at least.
It doesn’t help that the sound of a stomach churning echoes in the room that’s coming from the stall where Eunchae is occupying, causing the group to quietly laugh as if it was completely abnormal to take a shit and to have an upset stomach.
“How embarrassing!” he hears one of them say.
From the stall next to his, he hears the sound of a quiet sniffle.
Taehyung sighs, hands perched on his waist and biting his lips before he looks up at the ceiling and mutters, “I better go to heaven after this.”
At that, he starts flushing the toilet repeatedly. Intentionally drowning out the sounds of sniffling from the other stall and making a few loud fake farting sounds, earning him a couple of weird reactions from the group.
He’s embarrassed to say the least since his reputation is important to him, but Taehyung won’t let a diva down in his watch.
After a few minutes of his continuous flushing and once he confirms that Eunchae is finished doing her business, he steps out the stall and finds the highschoolers looking at him with scrunched eyebrows.
Taehyung smiles at them easily. “Woah, sorry about that queens.” he tells them as he makes his way back to the sink and washes his hands. “I had to force it out, otherwise, it would mess up the glow. You get it, right?”
The high schoolers nod at him slowly, some still looking taken aback.
But one of them, the girl with the curls, hums and nods at him vigorously.
“That’s so true, actually.” she tells the group. “My dad’s a doctor and shitting helps with detoxifying.”
“Oh.” one of them replies, nodding in agreement.
“My husband is a nurse and he tells me this all the time too.” Taehyung sighs dramatically at them. “Taking a dump actually helps with your skin, you know? Since it removes toxins in your body. I try to force one out everyday. I don’t freaking care if it’s embarrassing. I’d rather have flawless skin.”
“Yeah.” another agrees with a laugh as they talk about it among themselves.
The sound of the stall behind them echoes in the room, indicating that Eunchae has stepped out. Taehyung subtly takes a peek at her in the mirror, and finds her looking down at her feet self-consciously as she heads to the sink to wash her hands. The other highschoolers are still not paying attention to her.
Once she has joined them at the sink, Taehyung gasps dramatically as he turns to look at her, making the group look in their direction.
“Oh my god!” he says, a hand over his heart as he looks at Eunchae with wide eyes. “I love your shirt!”
Eunchae, who seems taken aback, blinks at him shyly. “Oh– uhm. Thank you,” she mutters with a blush. “It’s just from Wolfmart. I got it from the clearance rack.”
“No shit? Really?” Taehyung says, taking a close look at her outfit and humming at her in approval. “You mean to tell me you copped this for a good price?”
“Yeah.” Eunchae replies, looking at the group then at him. “It’s not much.”
“What do you mean?” Taehyung scoffs. “I’ve been looking for that exact same top for weeks now! Our omega sorority wears it all the time. Are you kidding me? It’s a college trend! You’re so freaking cool, girl!”
Eunchae’s jaw drops open as she looks at him. “It is?” she asks, sounding unsure.
“Yes!” Taehyung replies enthusiastically. “I need to get that top ASAP or I’ll freaking cry. Can you pretty please tell me where exactly you got it from before the sorority finds out and gets them all?”
Eunchae furrows her eyebrows at him but she divulges him with the information nonetheless, which Taehyung writes down on his phone to sell the act more convincingly.
The other highschoolers, who had been quietly observing their interaction, is looking at the two of them confusedly.
“That’s a college trend?” one of them asks.
Taehyung snorts. “Duh. C’mon, queens. You’re telling me you didn’t know?” he says, before he looks at Eunchae. “Were you gatekeeping it from your friends?”
Eunchae seems to pick up on his schemes and shoots him a grateful smile.
“Maybe.” she mutters.
The girl with the curly hair reaches for Eunchae by the wrist. “I can’t believe you never told us this, Chae!” she says as she pulls her into their group. “We have to go get them so we can wear them to school on Monday!”
“Do you think your dad would let you come with us to Wolfmart?” the other asks eagerly. “We were planning to go shopping before we head out to the noraebang booths. Wanna come with?”
Eunchae, who looks surprised but excitedly nonetheless, nods at them. “Sure. Let me ask him first!”
“Great!” one of them says as they start to head out the bathroom one by one. “Let’s go, Eunchae! Where’s your dad at?”
“He’s by the bar,” Eunchae says. “I’ll go catch up with you guys. I’m just gonna wash my hands.”
“We’ll go find your dad and ask him.” another replies before the two of them are left alone together.
Taehyung catches sight of Eunchae staring at him shyly as she bounces on her heels and scratches the side of her neck.
“Uhm,” she starts. “Thanks for that. It– it means a lot.”
He smiles at her brightly as he perches his purse on his shoulder and nods. “Don’t mention it,” he says gently. “Don’t forget. You always had a crown, queen. I just straightened it for you. Okay?”
Eunchae smiles at him big and wide as he nods. “I’ll always remember that.” she replies.
“Good.” Taeyung grins. “Don’t let anyone knock them off again. Okay?”
“Okay.” Eunchae says, before she bows at him a final time and follows her friends out the bathroom.
Once Taehyung rejoins Jimin back on their table, the food is already waiting for him and his best friend scoffs as he takes a seat opposite him.
“What took you so long?” Jimin complains as he grabs his chopsticks and helps himself to the meat that’s on the table. “The food is getting cold.”
“Sorry. I got held up in the bathroom.” Taehyung explains as he gets his utensils as well and grabs a piece of meat from the platter.
“Doing what?” Jimin snorts.
“Just diva shit.” Taehyung says. Smiling when he finds the group of high school kids outside the restaurant with Eunchae smiling wide in the middle before they disappear from view.
They spend the next few minutes eating their meal, talking and laughing as they revisit the good old days and by the time they were ready to check out and head to the mall so they could buy some bath bombs before returning to the hotel, the owner of the store approached them and says the bill is already paid for.
“What?” Taehyung asks, blinking as he shakes his head. “Really?”
“Yeah.” the owner chuckles. “Someone took care of your bill before they left. They wanted to be anonymous, though.”
“Oh.” Taehyung replies, nodding at the owner gratefully. Thinking that it must be Eunchae’s father who paid for their meal. “Thank you so much. The food was delicious. We’ll definitely come back again.”
“Looking forward to seeing you again, Taehyung-ssi.” the owner replies with a bow as he and Jimin stand and start to make their way out of the restaurant.
“You still think I shouldn’t buy a lottery ticket, Minnie?” he asks with a smirk as he perches his sunglasses over his nose.
“You know what? I’m not even going to stop you.” Jimin replies as he links their arms together and heads towards the mall for their last agenda of the day. “You might be on to something about this lucky shit.”
Taehyung rolls his eyes at him. And belatedly, he realizes that the owner knew his name but he doesn’t remember giving it to them, or even to Eunchae since the pup arrived after he spoke to the group.

Me
I had the best day today, Bun.
Maybe you’re right.
Maybe I am lucky after all.
Bunbun ❣
I told you so, baby.
I always knew you were.
Me
Be smug about it 🙄
Bunbun ❣
I will. 😂
It’s not everyday you admit defeat.
Me
But did I even lose, though? 😌
Bunbun ❣
Touche.
“Taehyung, can you just pick one and let’s go already?” Jimin whines as he slumps back on the wall, sighing when he sees Taehyung take the nth bath bomb back on the shelf before grabbing another one and sniffing it. “They’re all the same thing and they’ll end up at the drain anyway.”
Taehyung scoffs as he rolls his eyes at him. “Can you stop acting like an impatient pup for one second?” he scolds, putting the vanilla and coconut scented bathbomb into his basket. “And I don’t care if it goes down the drain. I want to smell nice.”
“For who?!”
“For me.”
Jimin sighs defeatedly as he follows Taehyung around the store.
“We still have to drop by the lottery booth,” the younger one says over his shoulder as they go into another aisle, causing Jimin to groan at him. “I’m pretty fucking sure I’m winning the lottery tonight, Jimin.”
“Taehyung, please.” the other replies with a shake of his head. “I’m tired and the lottery booth is at the other end of the mall. Can we do it tomorrow instead, please?”
“But I’m lucky today!” Taehyung protests. “I need to milk it, Minnie!”
“You’re lucky everyday , Taetae,” Jimin replies in a softer tone, reaching to ruffle the omega’s hair and causing Taehyung to playfully push him away. “You don’t need to impress the goddess of luck or farm some luck. You attract it by being you.”
“Now I’m really convinced to get that winning ticket, because is that an actual compliment?” Taehyung grins at him teasingly.
“Don’t push your luck.” Jimin laughs as Taehyung picks up another bathbomb from the shelf and smells it. “I may not compliment you all the time, but you know you’ve always been lucky.”
Taehyung chuckles, reading the tag on the bathbomb and smiling when it says Lucky Boy Syndrome. He doesn’t even smell it and puts it instantly in his cart before he links arms with Jimin and heads towards the cashier to get them checked out.
“Yeah well, I do have a lot of people in my life these days who have made me feel that way.” he tells him as they wait for their turn. “If it wasn’t for all of you, I wouldn’t be me, so I guess I owe it all to you too.”
“Look at you, Kim Taehyung.” Jimin grins as Taehyung empties his basket and passes it over to the cashier.
“Jeon Taehyung.” he corrects with a smirk as he fiddles with his purse to look for his wallet, frowning when he doesn’t find anywhere.
“Shit.” Taehyung mutters as he takes his stuff out of his bag to look for it. “Oh my god. I think I left my wallet at the restaurant!”
“Are you sure?” Jimin asks, helping him rummage through his stuff but ending up empty handed.
“Fuck— okay. I guess I should buy the lottery ticket some other time after all.” Taehyung sighs as he shoots the woman working the cashier an apologetic look. “I’m sorry. I lost my wallet. I can go and take them back to the—”
“I got it.” Another person interjects, causing Taehyung to look up with wide eyes and mouth hanging agape as he finds none other than Jeon Jeongguk approaching him, grinning at him from ear to ear as he taps his card at the terminal.
“Bun!” Taehyung says, hugging the alpha close and nearly climbing him, earning a series of coos from the women working the counter and a disgusted groan from his best friend.
“What are you doing here?” Taehyung exclaims, pulling back and looking at the alpha. “Weren’t you at that super important conference thingy?”
“I was.” Jeongguk chuckles, putting the omega down on his feet and intertwining their hands together as he grabs the bag of bath bombs and bows at the ladies at the counter. “It actually ended early because of some freak accident, so it was rescheduled to next week instead. I thought I’d grab the next flight and catch the last of our honeymoon.”
“I can’t even feel sorry for what happened.” Taehyung admits, still smiling ear to ear as he pulls Jimin behind and the three of them exit the store. “I’m just so glad you’re here! How lucky!”
“You are.” Jeongguk smiles, kissing him on the cheek affectionately. “What did I tell you, Baby? You were the lucky one all along.”
Taehyung could only smile at the alpha as the three of them head out, feeling exuberantly happy and lucky for having all these people with him despite the odds of this ever happening.
People always said that Kim Taehyung was the luckiest wolf alive, but he likes to think that Jeon Taehyung is even luckier.
After all, he’s the one with the mark on his neck and a brand new identity that shaped his future. He’s the one hand in hand with the love of his life and is linking arms with his soulmate.
“Shit. What time is it?” Taehyung says, checking the time on his watch and gasping as he pulls the other two with him. “The lottery booth is closing in five minutes! Move move move!”
“But what about your wallet?” Jeongguk asks with a frown. “All your IDs are there. You won’t be able to board the plane without it.”
“We won’t need it if we win the jackpot tonight, Bun!” Taehyung exclaims as he runs at full speed, dragging the two behind. “C’mon. Let’s keep this luck going. Let’s go!”
Jeongguk merely sighs but follows his husband nonetheless.
Staying back when Taehyung lets go of him and runs first to the booth at the other end of the mall.
Jimin snickers as he shakes his head at a running Taehyung.
“So are you going to tell him that you paid for everything and spied on us like a creep all day?” he smirks as he looks at the alpha.
Jeongguk chuckles as he shakes his head. “Nope,” he says. “Let him believe he’s lucky.”
Jimin chuckles as he shakes his head. “Not like he isn’t.”
Unluckily, Taehyung didn’t make it to the lottery booth on time, and on top of that, the winning numbers that evening were 12 and 30.
But lucky for Taehyung, he had a mate to hold him close as he mourned his loss.
After all, what’s a few million won compared to having the love of his life to make him feel he’s loved and happy all the time, right?
“Being debt free. Buying a brand new house and a car. Being set for life—”
“Not helping, Jimin.”
