Chapter Text
It was damn near driving Keigo insane at this point.
Who the fuck has his feather?
It had been close to two months, and not a single sign of who the suspect was had come to light. Every touch, every sound- he felt and heard it all. So why the ever living hell could he not pinpoint it?
"Can't you just summon it back or whatever?" Mirko questions before biting into her sandwich. The hero owed him lunch after a bet, bringing one by when he mentioned the problem he had.
"You think I haven't tried that?" He scoffed. "Whoever has it attached it to something, and I can't get it. I tried multiple times, but whatever it's attached to is impossible to feel out! Whoever took it had to of known it was mine." He growls, biting into his sandwich. "Probably a damn villain at this point- trying to use it against me or something." Mirko tilts her head.
"What good does a single feather do for a villain?" She laughs lowly for a beat. "Besides, that would be a terrible thing for them. It would out them eventually, no?" The bird sighed, nodding wordlessly. "Then for now just try to ignore it or something."
The advice was good at the time. Yeah, he did try to ignore it. He made it maybe a week. Then they moved the feather from wherever it was. At first, he went to go and move it as fast as he could, but whatever they had it attached to had it tight and tied. Was it being used to track him? No- they would have found him by now. Maybe blackmail! No, what for? Mirko made valid points, making him disregard the idea of it being a villain. Eventually, he accepted the fate of his feather, but he couldn't let it go. He decided to monitor it.
"Any ideas yet?" Mera asks, knowing it was starting to distract Keigo. "I know you were saying something about monitoring it in the meantime."
"No fuckin' clue yet." The man mutters, groaning slightly. "Even when I go flying to try and get into proximity, I can't nail it down! It feels like I'm always so close yet never reaching it."
"Well... Any signs of who it might be?" Mera tried to be gentle with the topic, knowing Keigo was already frustrated with the matter.
"All I've got is a bad taste in music and a woman's voice." He sighs out. "I can't pick up much else." Mera hums, his mind running through possibilities.
"And we've ruled out the league?"
"By a long shot, yes," Keigo replies, almost smirking. "Dabi would have burnt that shit to a crisp." Mera groans, now completely feeling the annoyance Keigo did.
"With the war coming up quickly, we can't take chances. Finding a renegade feather shouldn't be a priority, but..." The older man sighs. "We have to make it one. We can't risk it being more than maybe some crazed fan keeping it."
And Keigo agreed. He didn't see the feather-keeper as a threat, but he also didn't see them as a friend. Whoever had it easily could have been having malicious intentions, whether it was a crazed fan or not.
So he set out on a new mission to find it.
