Work Text:

Telamon sighed, floating around the Roblox Headquarters lazily. He drifted about slowly, lightly dozing off, and occasionally looking in through the window to spy on Builderman.

Not that the man knew he was spying on him, of course — Telamon just enjoyed observing him. He was... charming.

Ah, this was nice, he thought. He should really take more days off, this admin stuff was hard.

It was nice and quiet up here — given that he was pretty much at the top of a skyscraper, that was to be expected — the only sound was the steady beating of his wings.

Telamon hummed, perching on the ledge of a window. It was time to mess with Builderman! His favorite part of the day.

He flew to one of the many windows that made up Builderman's office and knocked on the glass.

The man simply looked over, unsurprised, and rolled his eyes. Still, he let Telamon in.

"Hello, Man of Building." Telamon crowed as he stepped through the window.

The grey-haired man looked unimpressed, folding his arms over one another. "That's a new one," he said sarcastically. "Why're you here?"

Telamon would've pouted, but that was unseemly for an admin, so he opted for verbalizing his reply instead.

"Awh, can't I just visit because I enjoy your presence?"

Builderman looked annoyed, but Telamon knew he was amused. "Yeah, sure. Listen, I gotta go soon, so say what ya' have ta' say."

Telamon raised an eyebrow. "Go? Where?"

The man sighed, placing his hands on his hips. "I was , er, walkin' home one day an' I saw this kitten, she was so small, and so I jus' brung her home." He shrugged.

Telamon blinked, slightly alarmed. "A cat?"

"Yeah, what about it?"

"They are dangerous," The admin started, wings fluttering. "They... hunt."

Builderman chuckled, before stopping. He looked at Telamon skeptically. "Dangerous? C'mon, 'Mon. Don't be ridiculous."

Hackles raised, Telamon defended himself. "You haven't seen what those..." he shuddered. "Creatures can do."

Builderman blinked, surprised, for a second. Then he burst out laughing.

"Yer' tellin' me that you, Telamon are scared o' cats?" He wheezed, in between laughs. "No way. There's no way."

Telamon huffed, unamused, unintentionally bunching his wings up to make himself look bigger — something he didn't realize until Builderman made fun of it.

"Look at ya'! Yer' all scruffed up like you're scared!"

When was this going to end? Telamon did not find this joke to be particularly funny. He didn't know why Builderman was so hung up on it.

"Wait," the Robloxian said, stopping. "Is this 'cause you're a like a bird, with yer' wings n' all?"

"I do not know," Telamon grumbled, embarrassed. "Cats just... unsettle me."

"Well don't ya' worry. I probably won't be bringin' her round 'ere much. People have allergies." Builderman assured, placing a firm hand on Telamon's arm, shaking it.

It made him feel better, for some reason.

The gesture was playful, and Builderman waved goodbye as he left for the elevator. "See ya, Telamon."

Telamon went for a calm smile. "Goodbye, Builderman."

The first thing Telamon thought, when he entered Builderman's office (through the door this time, since he was too occupied to open the window for him, even though it took only around 30 seconds.), was that the CEO lied.

He immediately sensed another life form in the room, making him tense.

Then, he heard the mewls.

Telamon froze, hand still on the elevator button.

"Oh, hey bud." Builderman greeted, and then, upon noticing his reaction, added; "Oh, you've gotta be kiddin' me."

Telamon slithered slowly into the room. He carefully positioned himself to be as far from the creature as possible.

"It's not gonna kill you, Telamon, Look at you! So tall, championed by this cute thing—" the builder mused, holding up a small orange tabby, who meowed softly in response. "—Aren't cha' a champion swordsman?"

Telamon frowned, then quietly said, "It's different. This creature is unpredictable."

Builderman scoffed. "And yer' opponents wielding swords aren't?"

Telamon hummed. He had a point... maybe. "I cannot accurately predict its movements. Players are slightly different."

The grey-haired man got up from his spot at the desk, and waltzed over to Telamon, who immediately shielded himself with his wings.

"You're so dramatic," he said in response to the action, still holding the cat. "C'mon, she's sweet. She won't hurt 'ya. I promise."

Telamon slowly shifted his wings away from their protective stance. "...If you're absolutely certain."

"Serious as ever." Builderman replied, mimicking a cross over his heart with his free hand.

Telamon hesitantly put his hands out, while leaning backwards, making it look like he was about to be handed something radioactive.

Well, he thought. That wasn't exactly far from the truth.

He suddenly felt something heavy and soft in his large hands, as well as Builderman's fingers touching them.

Telamon flushed, mostly from embarrassment. He felt a steady hand keep his in place, and he realized, with a jolt, that it was Builderman's.

"Yer' hands are shakin'." He remarked.

Telamon slowly lifted one of his hands to gingerly pet the small animal.

He stroked its back slowly, feeling its soft fur underneath his fingertips.

It was so small, he could probably crush it with one hand.

What? Nevermind that, the thing was shaking in his hand.

As if the Robloxian heard his thought, Builderman let out a little laugh. "She's purrin'. Seems like she likes 'ya."

Telamon continued petting it. This wasn't so bad!

"See?" Builderman smiled at him warmly. "She’s alright, isn’t she?"

Telamon found himself smiling back.

"I suppose you're right." The winged man said.

Perhaps these creatures were not so freakish after all.
