Chapter Text

“Galadriel your ring.” Sauron says this inside of Galadriel's head with a commanding tone. The two are at the cliff and the elleth stares at Sauron in his elven disguise. Galadriel slips Nenya off her right middle finger and mindlessly brings it closer to Saurons outstretched hand. She wonders why her body is acting on its own when then she speaks.

“You wish to heal middle earth.” Galadriel says as she slightly turns her hand with Nenya in it to give Sauron the ring. The commander of the northern armies sees Sauron’s smile then closes her hand with the ring in it finally gathering control of her own body again.

“Heal yourself.” The blonde elleth tells the embodiment of evil as she takes a step back and falls down the cliff back first gripping her ring of power.

As Galadriel falls she regrets not being able to see Elrond one last time before she dies since their last meeting was in the orc camp the memory was still fresh and flashes before her mind. The way he looked at her stopping the war charge after seeing a trickle of blood come down from her neck in that cage, Elronds eyes apologizing for not doing as he promised. Then in the tent the way his gaze always found hers then when another knife was brought to her neck she swore for a moment his gaze could kill the orc beside her. Then he stood up and took the decorative pin off his cloak and walked over to say goodbye. His tone when he apologized for stopping the charge or maybe it was for what he was about to do sounded so depressed. Elrond then reached out his hand to her cheek and stared at Galadriel for only a moment until he leaned in and kissed her lips softly like he won't see her again. As the herald stops he rests his forehead against hers staring into Galadriel eyes that reflected starlight back and slips the decorative pin that was on his cloak into her hand. Elrond's face in that moment is the last image she thought of as she hit the ground with a loud thud.

Galadriel gasped trying to breathe, she realized her ring was no longer in her grip and wondered where it fell and prayed that Sauron does not find it. As she opens her eyes an all encompassing darkness is all that follows, pitch black and all surrounding. If this was her last moments she wonders who will find her body a small part of her hopes it would be Elrond but fears it is most likely to be Sauron. Suddenly she hears movement and rushed words and suddenly someone touching her trying to heal her she assumes.

—--------

Elrond looks around the battleground inside the city and sees the high king and the wood elf running in an odd direction; he has no idea why but has a feeling he should follow them. As the brown haired half elf follows the two into the forest in the distance he sees a body on the ground with blonde hair and feels his heart stop for a moment. realizing it's not moving.

Deciding to investigate more he wanders around to overhear the current situation, learning that thankfully Galadriel is alive but gravely wounded. His heart pains to see the lady like this as when he last saw her she was chained up. ‘Now Galadriel is injured, just what happend?’ Elrond wonders. He walks out a bit to be seen and then feels a presence. Her ring, Nenya, by his feet. Picking  up the ring he can feel its will, its strong desire to heal its bearer just like how he wishes to heal her.

As Elrond stares at the ring deciding on whether he should use it to save Galadriel or not. Thinking back to when the two were back in Lindon and she would be returning from her constant searches of the orcs. He would come running to greet her back home like a child. Though in her eyes he is indeed far younger than her. He would look her up and down to see if she's been injured. She would shove him off saying she's fine and happy to see that her beloved friend is doing well. Elrond decides then and there he will do anything to save Galadriel.

“I can.” Elrond says in a determined voice then looks up from the ring to stare at Galadriel's body in between the High King and Arondir. “We can.” Elrond then takes the ring and puts it on his right hand index finger and walks over to the other three and kneels next to Arondir. With Galadriel in front of him and helps heal her with the power of Nenya.

Elrond notices the relief from the ring and figures that Galadriel is healed, since she has drifted asleep from the exhaustion finally catching up. Elrond stares at her happy that he didn't lose her today when the High King speaks.

“Elrond, thank you for following us and finding her ring so that we could save Galadriel. Do you know why she was on the cliff up there? She was your lieutenant on the journey.”

“The last I saw her she was in chains at the orc camp my king.” Elrond clarifies.

Arondir looks at the two then asks “Will we be taking the commander to Lindon then? I personally feel like that city will be attacked next and believe we should take Lady Galadirel elsewhere.”

The High King nods “We shall go elsewhere for my ring has given me a vision of Lindon falling in the war to come and that wont be safe for the refugees. Now how should we transport Galadriel there is the question.”

“I can carry her there with her ring, I'll also have a bit more endurance. I am also the least injured elf capable of carrying her.” Elrond looks at the high king hoping that he agrees and lets him carry his old beloved friend himself and not have to watch others carry her and struggle. Just imagining someone else carrying Galadriel has him stressing that something would happen to her.

Gil-galad looks at his herald his face covered in the grim of war his armor battle torn and yet he could swear when he looked at this half-elf that did not bother him one bit the only thing on his mind was the friend in front of him, the high elf in Gil-galad's lap currently. The High King glances toward the wood elf and notices he is injured so he couldn't carry Galadriel either and he himself couldn't he had to lead the elves to the place he saw and needed to be in the front. The long haired ellon looks at Elrond and decides he is the best for the job. The ring healed Elrond's injuries when he put it on so he was back to how he was before the battle.

“Elrond. You my herald will carry Lady Galadriel but if you need a break you will let her be carried by others as well, I can't have you out of commission completely. We are still technically in enemy territory and you'll have to help protect refugees. Do you understand?” Gil-galad stares at Elrond waiting for his reply.

“Of course High King I'll listen to what my body says and if I must I will let Galadriel be carried by someone I trust.” As Elrond says this feeling the ring get warmer it must be happy to help he assumes.

Gil-galad picks Galadriel up slightly to help put her into Elrond's arms hoping the journey won't lead to an uncomfortable sleep for her in his arms next to his soiled armor. Elrond looks down at the golden haired lady in his arms and is happy to feel her warm body. As he stands with Galadriel in his arms preparing for the journey he holds her tighter and thinks to himself that he will protect her on this entire trip even though he does not know the length or destination. Trusting that where they end up will be a safe haven for the elves to rely on.
